The Snake v The Badger
Amadea cheered silently in her head. She had gotten the Gobstone so close and it hadn't been knocked out. She was happy. Maybe she could actually win the game. She shook her head. She couldn't get ahead of herself and get cocky. That would only lead to losing, which was unacceptable.
Amadea wondered what her opponent was thinking. Aravis seemed amused, maybe because she thought she was going to win as well. Amadea found that funny. She knit her eyebrows together, wondering why she kept getting distracted. She was always very focused during any sort of competition, making sure nothing escaped her vision. If she let up for one minute she might miss something crucial in winning. That's why she was so confused as to why she kept getting distracted and letting her thoughts drift to literally anything except the game.
Maybe it was because she knew it was just practice and she had never played before. Maybe it was because she felt very intimidated by her opponent who she did not know at all. Whatever the reason was, she needed to stop. Right now.
Determined, she picked up her next Gobstone, trying to replicate the throw she threw the last time. If she was lucky, it would land even closer to the Jack Stone.

The Snake v The Badger
Aravis watched her gobstone roll with a annoyed expression as her timing had yet again been off. It was aggravating. Amadea's roll had been shockingly good. The hufflepuff girl rolled her yellow gobstone once again.
Aravis didn't pay much attention. It was silent and annoying. She would rather listen to Aunt Farrah complain than be bored at a gobstones match. The black haired girl rolled another shiny green gobstone. If her timing was off one more time...well...she would break Lucien's hand. Actually, no. She wouldn't do something like that all because he jinxed her before the match. Well...not a literal jinx. He had only said that she would do bad. And he was right.
Maybe she would give that geek of a brother a hug since he hated germs. Yes, that would be perfect revenge. Maybe Aravis could get Odette in on it as well. Her plan was coming together.
Hoping she would have better luck this round, Aravis watched as her gobstone landed in its place ending her roll. She looked over towards Mia and then over towards Amadea out of boredom. She waited patiently for the red haired girl to roll once again wondering what was going to happen next.

Amadea: Accuracy was off because of a malfunctioning finger. Bad roll.
Aravis: Both timing an accuracy were good. Roll was amazing.

The Snake v The Badger
Amadea knew her role would be bad the second she felt her finger brush the Gobstone the wrong way. As she predicted, her Gobstone rolled nowhere near the Jack stone, leaving her in the same position she had been in before.
She sighed, not realizing it was out loud until it was too late. Hopefully Aravis wouldn't think she was giving up. Amadea was definitely not giving up. This was only one roll that hadn't gone exactly according to plan. But there was time to change and improve things. She just needed to learn from her mistakes and not make the same ones a second time.
She picked up her next Gobstone, rolling it around in her fingers. She wondered what angle she should go for. Should she try to be defensive and knock one of Aravis's Gobstones farther away from the Jack Stone? Or should she just continue what she was doing and try to get another Gobstone close to the Jack Stone? All of this thinking was tiring Amadea and she didn't know what to do. She decided to just roll and see where her Gobstone went. Hopefully it would go in the right direction this time. Minding where her finger was, she flicked the Gobstone toward the playing field.

Aravis mentally cheered and danced in her head. Finally her timing wasn't off! And to make it even better, Amadea had a bad roll! Not that she was cheering because of that of course. The competitive black haired girl felt boredom slowly falling away. Her head was back in the game as she mentally cheered for herself. Her chances of winning were still high.
She watched the red haired girl roll again. They would have two more rolls after this. The game was almost over. That meant it was time to do what Aravis did best- wrecking things. She mentally planned out her whole entire strategy as the other girl's roll seemed to continue in slow motion. Amadea's closest roll was around 30 degrees from the Jack Stone as it seemed to Aravis. Or if she hit her own green gobstone which was in between the third and fourth line she could still hit the yellow gobstone.
The Slytherin eyeballed the distance calculating in her head, rubbing the small green stone in her hand. It was her turn now. If she hit it too hard it could cause her gobstone to go flying as well as Amadea's. Aravis would have to roll at midpaced speed. She rolled the gobstone straight for her own green gobstone so it would hit Amadea's closest one to the Jack Stone.

Amadea: Accuracy was off. You still managed to roll it fairly close.
Aravis: Your accuracy and timing were off, and you didn't knock a single gobstone out of place. However, your gobstone rolled fairly close to the Jack Stone.

Amadea's accuracy was off yet again, though this time it wasn't because of her malfunctioning finger. She had definitely made sure of that. While she might not be the brightest Gobstones player, she knew enough to not make the same mistake twice. Given, she definitely knew how to make another mistake the next time, which she managed to do. She really needed to improve on her accuracy. Thankfully, the Gobstone ended up kind of close to the Jackstone?
Aravis had a much luckier roll, managing to get her Gobstone very close to the Jackstone. Amadea was having a hard time distinguishing whether she or Aravis was closer to the Jackstone at the time. She hoped it was herself; clearly her throwing skills were only going downhill.
She stopped herself from thinking negative thoughts; they weren't going to help her in any way and she needed to stay focused. The game was not over yet and still anything could happen. Carefully, she picked up her next Gobstone, not breaking eye contact from the Jackstone and she slowly and carefully threw it toward the center of the board, hoping that some sort of divine intervention would come down and help her win this round.
