How different could it be? Edme was an undeniable over thinker, who loved trying new things as much as she feared it. Sailing over the pitch like a bat in the night was a first for them, but still it felt like they had been doing it since she was born. As she went up higher and higher, suddenly the lights seemed like background, and she was in a Quidditch game about to stop a flying ball from getting through the hoop. And then, Avery came beside them, a reward in herself.⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄
"Very different." Edme agreed, nodding jovially. They had joined Quidditch to meet new people, but it seemed like there was a lot more gained from the sport than just the people. It was exhilarating, really, flying over the crowd like a moth, the win being her light. It made her feel alive.
The Ravenclaw realized quickly that they had a decision to make. She considered what the two could work on together, or at least what would help the two the most. They didn't want to have come out there for no reason. "How fast can you go?" she asked, trying to bring it as an offer rather than an actual question.
The night would certainly be hard to navigate in, so tracking could be a bit difficult, and it wasn't like there was anything they could use as a ball. Edme needed to work on her speed anyways, as flying around by the hoops doesn't really require you to zoom around the pitch. Racing was typically reserved for broom racing, but Quidditch was a much more versatile sport, where you just needed to be good on the broom in general.
The second year flew around in small circles, getting a feel for the broom. To her, flying was like jumping into a cool lake. At first it was a bit dazing, but after a bit of movement it felt much more natural.⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄⋄

Flying in the Dark
Date: 09/14/22
────────────────────────────────────────Sitting there midair atop her broom, the surrounding darkness almost like a cloak, Avery felt some of the tension drain from her body. It was quiet. There were no glaring lights. She didn't have to think of anything but the passing breeze and the Ravenclaw beside her. It was a serene feeling.
Though there's not much light to go by, the Hufflepuff's eyes had adjusted enough to allow her to observe the older student at her side for a moment longer. The joyful nod she offered prompts a small uptick at either corner of Avery's lips into a barely contained smile. They definitely seemed even more at ease now that they were up in the air, and she was certainly thrilled for the chance to bear witness.
The question prompted the first year to pause a moment in thought. Avery allowed her gaze to briefly drop to the handle of the broom. It definitely wasn't top notch but it had held up well enough...so far. She'd started saving up for her own broom regardless. Terrible as the school broom was, it hadn't let down her low expectations of it yet at least. There was surely time.
A playful smile settles across her features as she glances back up to spy Edme flying in a few modest circles. "I suppose there's only one way to find out, now isn't there?" she retorts, the words infused with a lighthearted challenge. Pausing just long enough for the loop they were in the middle of to be facing her direction once more, the Hufflepuff leaned forward and took off towards the closest set of goals at a brisk pace.────────────────────────────────
