Edward continued to squirm against the unflinching grips holding him in place, wailing in graceless petulance without penitence. At the edges of Romeo’s face curled a lovely sneer as he went on to declare war on the Koldovstoretz boy. Then, with lightning on the horizon, Yefim snapped his fingers and turned to leave, soon to be followed out by Charles. Valentin was not done, however, nor was Rome. The Italian went on to encourage the Koldov to fight against Durmstrang even harder, while Valentin simply cocked his head to the side and looked on. The words certainly made it sound like Romeo wanted a war. Even as he was building the boy back up with supportive turns of phrase and his body seemed to hold back an urge to crush down their opponent, Rome was really courting further conflict. Without cognizant thought, Valentin absorbed this information.

”Until then, the wolf will look after the pups, and lead the pack when nobody else can,” concluded Romeo, releasing Edward and turning to leave. Valentin watched Rome’s back as he moved away from the Koldov, staring icicle blades into Edward’s eyes until it was safe for Val and Rome to leave together. Clapping the taller boy on the shoulder, Valentin walked towards the storm in silence. There was surely a funny place to put Edward’s wand awaiting them, but something else was pulling Val’s mind away now. Looking over his shoulder, the seeker’s keen eyes ensured that no one was following them.
