"Transfiguration is complex, agreed," Sebastian said simply. "At the same time, I enjoy the challenge, and can see how it could be quite a powerful source of spells to have in the future. And I also have an interest in Dark Arts and Charms."

Sebastian smirked, realizing the pair were probably more alike than they thought. They certainly had very similar interests, and that meant a potential friendship or alliance could develop in time. So far, the boy felt that most of his time at Hogwarts, at least socially, had been about connecting with other students and networking; and while that wasn't too big a problem for him, it felt odd to consider that someone he might meet now could potentially fight alongside him in the future in some dangerous situation for survival...

It definitely made one consider who they spoke to very carefully.

"You are very quiet," Sebastian muttered, as he looked back to Eri. "Not that it's a problem. Sometimes other students talk too much. Have you talked to many others at Hogwarts?"

Sebastian had always been able to speak with others, though sometimes he could be considered blunt and perhaps too honest. He preferred being that way, rather than the sort who spoke in riddles and hidden meanings. And aside from having trouble with big crowds, simply because of his childhood being secluded in a manor, he felt he was functional enough in small groupings.

Still, not everyone was comfortable in similar situations.

"I recently joined the dueling club... are you a member? Do you like dueling?"

Eri looked at Sebastian. She wasn't sure anyone had told her she was quiet. "I have talked to other students. Actually quite a lot, but I don't say much." She liked to talk, but not a lot of words like some people. At least he didn't think her being quiet was a problem. It wasn't like she was just going to start talking a lot just because someone suggested it was a problem. Part of the reason that she is quiet was she never really talked to kids her age. At home she read books and played a few sports.

The dueling club. Yes she joined it. Not because she enjoyed dueling, just because she thinks learning to protect yourself is important. "Yes I am a member. Dueling is fine. I don't enjoy it as much as some people do. I think it is a necessary think to prepare ourselves to be able to protect ourselves if need be." That was exactly what she thought. If he thought the same way cool, if not it didn't matter. Everyone had their own opinions to things. 

Eri looked back at the Lake. It really was a nice view. She wiped a strand of hair away from her face.

Sebastian nodded, as Eri explained she didn't say much. The boy could understand that, especially since a lot of students seemed to have had sheltered upbringings. Perhaps that was the situation here, also, with Eri being one of the wizarding community. Still, given the need to expand socially, Sebastian knew there was a necessity to break out of his shell and get to know as many as he could; after all, he had been told these formative years would provide the basis for his friendships or rivals to come in later years by his father, repeatedly.

"I plan on being the world's best duelist," Sebastian said simply, his tone matter-of-fact, glancing out to the water, watching the shimmering light dance across the surface. "I've been preparing for it since I was young. So finally having the chance to duel at Hogwarts, with my new wand, is very exciting to me."

The pure-blood didn't expand on the implication of his words, namely that he had learned underage magic. Many didn't appreciate being told that, especially adults, and given the pair weren't very close yet, Sebastian wasn't comfortable letting Eri know he could perform spells without the need for a wand... at least not yet.

"Protection is all well and good, but sometimes we need to be able to attack quickly and effectively," Sebastian continued, glancing to Eri. "What's the point of being cornered and having to rely on defensive spells and dueling? I'd rather take my enemies out before they back me into that corner."

Sebastian stayed for a while longer, silent, as he thought about that. Still, he couldn't spend all day beside the lake, and as he stood, the boy smiled and nodded.

"It was good meeting you."

And walked away back to Hogwarts.
