Closed Dear God!

AngelFyre took another look at Colin's fang necklace. He'd often wondered if his own fangs looked this big when he was in 'wolf form. He smiled. He knew he would never know the answer to that question. One just didn't walk up to a fellow 'wolf and casually ask 'I say old chap! What big fangs I've got, what?' It would be far too dangerous for any non-wolf to even try and measure them!

But as she spoke, a sudden spark of inspiration struck Colin. Not the first time, since he'd known AngelFyre! His eyes lit up again and he crouched on the stone seat, staring into her eyes. "Fyre Angel! That's brilliant! No! You're bloody brilliant! What did we have before the attack? We had a wolf with four fangs and could thus blend into the crowd; and we had the back half of a book that we didn't know we needed!" He snatched up the parchment on which the letter was written and held it between them. "And what do we have now? We have a three fanged wolf who sticks out like a quill in a box of coloured pencils and the front half of a book that's got my name on it! I know I've seen a tatty old book at home --- and it never had a cover! Fyre Angel! I bet you it's the same book! And we've got this letter!"

Colin sat back down on the stone seat and let out a big breath. He felt like a great weight had been lifted from him. He know that he might die at any time, if those who wanted him harmed had their way, but he also knew that he had friends who would stand with him and do anything it took to fight back! He smiled at AngelFyre. "You give me confidence, you know."

He felt all the better that she wanted to come up to his place for a visit. Colin looked pensive for a moment. It probably would be a good idea to let his Ma know that he'd have a cadre of friends with him over the next couple weeks! He smiled sheepishly at AngelFyre and blushed. "Er... Yeah... I guess owling my folks too would be a good idea, right? I mean, it's not like I'm part of the wedding or anything! Moira's the eldest, so it's more about showing off for the 'bloods and gabbing with the Ministry folks. Ma said I'm supposed to keep the kids out of the way and out of trouble! What better way than for all of us to be having a grand adventure!"

Colin looked up at AngelFyre as she told him he'd never be alone in this. That had always been his great fear, that people he'd come to love would abandon him. A broad smile crept across his face as he gathered his things. He stood up on the stone seat and slung his satchel and shoes over his shoulder. Looking up into the darkening sky, he cried out: "Uuuhuuuuuuu!!" He called out to his Indian eagle owl and without even a backward glance, leapt from the stone and landing softly on his bare feet began to lope along the pathway that would lead back down through the high meadows above the castle.

"Come catch me if you can, Fyre Angel!!! Owoooooooooo!!"
