When the boy introduced himself as Colin and called her a ray of sunshine, she smiled. He then continued on saying that he was a first year and a Slytherin, but had wanted to be in Ravenclaw. Bailey then piped up, saying “Cool. It would have been really nice to have you in Ravenclaw. I think you would be a good addition.”
As Colin continued to ramble on, she watched as a few more people trickled into the library. When Colin asked with a twinkle in their eyes if they should invite the two boys over who were watching them or just let them stare, Bailey laughed and said “Let’s invite them over! The more the merrier!”
Before they could do so, one of the boys seemed to be forcing the other boy to come. The other boy looked terrified though, and Bailey felt bad for him.
As the poor shy boys made himself come over, clinging to the taller boy’s hand, he introduced himself saying that his name was Taizu. He had a tremble in his voice and Bailey vowed to make him feel more comfortable. Then Colin introduced himself and her, and she followed that up with a smile and “Yep! My name is Bailey! Do you want to sit with us?”
Then Colin made a joke about not biting, and Bailey laughed. A true laugh, something no one here had heard before. This boy somehow had made her laugh!
Next the boy who came with Taizu introduced himself as Kim, and sat, telling Taizu that he should too.
As they joined their table, Bailey asked “Are you both first years? And what house are you in? Is this your first time in the library?”
Bailey said this with a smile, trying to be welcoming.

After Taizu had introduced himself, he felt a weight lift off of himself, as if he was going to be fine. He had started a conversation with a new person. Granted, he had Kim behind him, giving him confidence, but this was still huge for little Taizu. The people sitting at the table seemed nice, though the boy was very excitable. Every word spoken by him made Taizu think that he was about to jump out of the seat and start dancing, and it was strange meeting a person this energetic.

As both of them invited him to sit, Taizu began to nervously smile, a rare sight from him. Smiling was one of the most difficult things for him to do, as he rarely did it. It was one of the things that he struggled to do, despite his old friend's insistence that he do it more often. His smile grew more confident at the girl's laugh, and he started to sit down, having to hop up slightly to get in the seat. With his legs dangling over the side of the seat, absently swinging back and forth, he looked like a little child, despite his age.

Then the girl began asking him questions. He was definitely caught off guard by the questions, but he responded, saying, "W-well, I'm a first year, I-I think th-that he is too, and We're in G-Gryffindor together. H-he makes me feel safe, b-because he can speak Japanese. And th-this is my first time here at the library." Taizu took a deep breath; He had never spoken this long before. "W-What are your names?"

Kim glanced over at Bailey as she spoke.

She was giving them rapid-fire questions, one right after another.

He wasn't sure, but it seemed as if Taizu wasn't the sort of person who would do well with that. Kim stifled a sudden yawn that threatened to overtake him.

Early morning hours did not agree with him. Kim almost felt as if he was falling asleep, even though the sun was up. Maybe he should take a quick nap and wake up later. But at the same time that might make him wake up later than expected and he'd lose more time. Kim was the same as Taizu when it came to smiling, at least real smiles. He didn't tend to do them often. On rare occasions one might see him smiling but it wouldn't be intentional on his part at all.

The taller boy's 'smiles' tended to come out like smirks, which wasn't his intention.

But there you go.

Kim glanced over at Taizu as the boy hopped onto the chair beside him and dangled his legs over. He really was quite short but there was something adorable about him. The boy had this aura that made people want to pick him up and hug or swing him around like a child. Or so Kim was getting from him. It was like when people saw babies and came up to them because they thought they were cute and wanted to coo at them. That kind of adorableness was Taizu.

However, the taller Gryffindor didn't want to get anywhere near Taizu. Not because he didn't like him, or didn't find him adorable, it was a more simple reason. Kim didn't like getting touched or getting too close to anyone. Not unless he initiated the contact in the first place. Sometimes it didn't matter but when he was actually focused on the situation at hand, he would get nervous if it happened. Worst case, he'd get flustered and be unable to function.

Best case, was he would become uncomfortable.

Kim had a severe case of social anxiety and he was well aware of his condition.

It was why he tended to avoid large groups of people he didn't know well. And rarely participated in competitions or games that involved close, physical contact with people.

Most of the time he knew when his anxiety flared up and tended to take action to solve the issue. But other times he might not even realize he was bothered by something and would start scratching himself until he ended up bleeding from the scratches. And then later on he'd wonder where he got them. Before, when Taizu had grabbed his hand, Kim's normal reaction would have been to draw his hand away. But seeing the boy's face, he'd decided to give in.

As long as he didn't try and get closer than that particular action. But he hadn't and now they were sitting down together at the table. And Kim was free again. He glanced over at Taizu as the boy spoke. It seemed as if he was getting better at this talking thing, which was good. The boy should probably be able to make some friends now. Hopefully, he'd continue to do this. "I've been here a few times before now." Kim added, for his part of the conversation.

"You?" He asked, glancing from Bailey to Colin, implying that he was directing the question at both of them. A slight rustling was heard down below.

Ah right.

He still hadn't eaten those two chocolate croissants inside his pocket.

As he'd shifted in his seat ever so slightly, the flakes started to come off inside his pocket. They weren't meant to take up residence there. Kim glanced around and wondered if he could possibly snack on them somewhere out of sight of the librarian. "What are you two here for? Homework? Research? Entertainment?" He asked, hoping to come up with a reason to leave that wouldn't involve Taizu following him. The boy might attract attention.

And Kim didn't want to get caught eating inside the library, as food and drinks were prohibited. Sneaking in food inside his pocket was different from actually eating said food.

Colin smiled openly when Bailey said she thought he'd make a good Ravenclaw. That made him happy! And she laughed when he'd told the shorter boy that he wouldn't bite. He liked the sound of her laugh. It was pure. He felt somehow at ease.

Colin couldn't help but smile back at Bailey. Then he bared his fangs and 'claws' with a quick RAWR!! He laughed to and fell back into his chair, waiting for the other boys to make themselves comfortable. The shorter boy had to kind of hop into his chair while the taller one looked like he was zonked out already and would fall right asleep!

Taizu said that they were both Gryffindors and speak Japanese. "Laddie, Japan is a long way to come to Hogwarts! Did your parents send you here in stead of Mahutokoro? Or are you like me and grew up in the UK but don't speak English much at home?" For a moment Colin second guessed himself, when Taizu asked for their names. I thought I said --- He just shrugged and smiled. "Oh! My name's Colin, Colin McCoire."

The other boy, Kim, said he'd been in the Library several times already and then asked Colin and Bailey what they were up to in here. Colin said: "Oh, I did my lessons already, so I'm just here to explore! As if there weren't enough books here in the main library, I'd kind of like to get into that restricted section. Why is it restricted, anyway?" He scowled. "Just doesn't make any sense. But listen, Taizu lad: if this is your first time in the Library, it won't be your last! This place is grand! There must be a million books in here!"

Colin heard a slight crinkling, rustling sound coming from Kim's pockets. Probably full of parchments, he thought. "And what about you, lad? You look like you'd rather be in bed! I've been out since about four. This place is really grand when no one else is around but the ghosts! You get a really great view of the sunrise from the Astronomy Tower and there's loads of places to play and explore!"

When Colin smiled when she said he would be a good Ravenclaw, Bailey smiled in response.
Then she laughed at his joke, and he made fake claws and “roared”. As he laughed, Bailey did too and then sat back, waiting for the other boys to settle in.
As Taizu asked what their names were again, Colin introduced himself and she joined, saying “My name is Bailey!”
When the taller boy, Kim asked what they were doing, Colin said he was there to explore and Bailey then said “No real reason. I finished all of the homework I had to do, so I came to get some new books to read. I also came here to make friends if possible, and it looks like that happened.”
When Colin asked why the restricted section was restricted, she laughed a little and spoke up, saying “I think it is because the books there can be harmful or damaging. They could be dangerous or have things that could cause danger in them. And it isn’t a good idea to let some teenagers have free reign. So people here aren’t mature enough to understand the dangers that those books hold.”
Laughing a little, Bailey tried to lift the spirits of the groups after that.
Then Colin said that he had been up since four. Wow! He has been up a while! Hopefully he ate something since then.
Just to make sure, she asked Colin “Wow. You have been up a while- did you at least eat some breakfast? If not I’m pretty sure I have some homemade breakfast pastries in my bag. If you want them we would have to leave the library, but maybe we could explore!We could go all over. Maybe we could also grab some stuff from Great Hall and have a picnic! I mean, if y’all want to later.”

Colin listened as Bailey explained why she was in the Library. When she said that one reason she was there was to make some new friends, and that this had just happened, Colin sat up in surprise. "Do you mean you consider us friends already!?" He looked over at Kim and Taizu, wondering how they'd respond. She also delivered a veritable lecture on why the restricted section was, well, restricted. She seemed to stress all the dangers and harmful things --- Colin wished he could roll his eyes at Bailey, but she seemed so earnest in her explanation, that he couldn't bring himself to do it.

His mind returned to the bit where Bailey seemed to say that she thought they'd all become friends. Colin didn't quite know quite what to think, and his mind raced: well, she's a ray of sunshine (that's good!), she's a Ravenclaw (that's better!), she seems adventuresome (more betterer!), she's not one of those mental Slytherins who stares at me in the common room like they want to practice their curses on me (that's most excellent!). So he just shrugged and gave Bailey a quick smile that almost instantly turned into an expression of deepest solemnity. He stood up and bowed towards Bailey. "Then friends we shall be," he said very seriously.

As he sat down, the smile returned to Colin's face, and Bailey mentioned breakfast in the Great Hall. "Breakfast!? Oh, lassie, breakfast here is grand here! Bangers, eggs, oat cakes, porridge, tattie scones! What's a breakfast pastry? Why can't we try one here?" Colin turned excitedly towards Kim and Taizu. "What do you say lads? Some exploring and a picnic lunch?" Turning back to Bailey, he said: "I'm up for exploring any time! And it's way more interesting with friends!"

Colin's words about Mahoutokoro made his lips twitch.

He'd actually wondered about that too. How did parents decide where to send their children?

Kim was part Japanese too, which meant he'd had a chance to go to Mahoutokoro as well. But for some reason, his parents decided to move to London, England and send him to Hogwarts. Perhaps because Hogwarts was the better school for magic due to its reputation? None of the other wizarding schools would appreciate those thoughts but they wouldn't be able to deny the long, rich history of Hogwarts. As Colin blinked, Kim looked over at the boy.

He seemed surprised, or was that confusion? But over what? It was only when Colin re-introduced himself to Taizu that Kim understood. Ah, that was what it was. Colin and Bailey had already given them their names but Taizu had been so nervous he'd completely forgotten. That or he just hadn't heard them due to his nerves from before. Luckily, they didn't bring up this particular matter, or Taizu might have disintegrated right then and there. Good for them.

Colin told him he was there for fun and Kim nodded.

Being at the library for fun was great, as it would allow you to read to your heart's content.

Without having to worry about deadlines. That was the main thing he always took care of first. Feeling a deadline looming up made you stressed. The best way to deal with this was to take care of the project completely and then allow yourself time to relax and unwind afterward. When Colin asked why there was a restricted section in the library, Kim was about to give his thoughts on the matter. But Bailey beat him to it, so he decided to remain silent.

Colin appeared to notice how not up he was at the moment and Kim made a face.

"I'm not a morning person. So this is pretty early for me. Trust me, you'll never see me up and about at this time ever again. Unless, something unexpected happens again." He added that last part, just in case. You never knew when something would pop up again. "But if it's anytime past 10AM, I'll be wide awake!" Kim said with a faint twitch of his lips. He was more of a night owl, but would never go to the owlery.

Not unless he absolutely had to. After all, the way it was designed, you could see so much from the tower. From a great height. Yes, that would completely destroy him, and he'd be a blubbering mess. That would not be a good sight for anyone to witness. As Bailey spoke, saying much the same thing as Colin, although with her she seemed as if she wanted to make friends as well, Kim nodded. Bailey's words about breakfast made Kim's stomach grumble.

Even though he'd already had breakfast.

Why was Bailey reminding his stomach about this now when he was looking for a way out?

Wait, homemade breakfast pastries?! Kim's eyes widened a little. "You make baked goods too?" He asked, surprised at this. Kim hadn't expected to find anyone who was good at cooking and baking like him. When Bailey suggested they all grab some stuff from the Great Hall and go have a picnic, Kim was tempted to do so. If that invitation extended to him too. He wasn't entirely sure whether she'd been talking only to Colin or to all of them. Had she?

It wasn't as if he was going to ask though for confirmation. That would imply he wanted to go. And if Bailey had only been talking to Colin, it was going to be weird, even if she extended the offer to him. Why? Because she might only include him out of awkwardness and if that was the case he didn't want to do it then. Still, the idea of homemade pastries was so tempting for him. Kim loved sampling new cuisine. Then his question was given an answer.

Both Bailey and Colin asked him and Taizu if they wanted to come.

"I suppose I can come. It's not like I'm doing anything special today, at least not at the moment." Kim said, giving his usual tsundere-like response.

He'd chomp on the pastries inside his pocket as soon as they weren't looking and then devour whatever was brought to the picnic they would be having soon. Kim could consume a mountain of food and sweets. And for some reason he never seemed to gain any weight, he wasn't sure if that was genetics or something else. Colin's words to Bailey made him pause, oh was that what Bailey's words had meant? He wasn't sure what to make of it, she was bold.

But he didn't not like that. Kim supposed he didn't care if Bailey thought they were friends. Anyone could think what they wanted, there was no harm done there. And perhaps in the future they would become friends. The girl was definitely someone interesting enough to stick around with and Kim had to admit he was curious about her. Colin was too. Meeting new people was one of the highlights of being a person. And Kim was no different, mostly.

As long as he didn't have to be inside a large group of strangers.

When she mentioned considering them friends, Bailey seemed to shock Kim and Colin. Not that much of a response came from Taizu, though internally he might have been freaking out
I really hope I wasn’t too forward saying that Bailey thought.
She relaxed when Colin said that they were now friends.
Then she mentioned going on a picnic and the pastry’s she had in her bag.
Colin eagerly agreed to go on the picnic and offered for the other boys to join them.
As they agreed, Bailey stood up. Deciding to tell them what she had, Bailey said “The pastry I was talking about are the triple chocolate scones I have. We can have those later. And Kim, maybe one day we can bake or cook together! And the rest of y’all are welcome to join.
Also the reason we can’t eat the scone here is because they are super messy.
And what should we explore? Is there somewhere y’all want to go? And do y’all have any preferences on what we have for lunch? I have some spare tupperwhere in my bag we can put stuff in.”
After offering this, Bailey waited for them to voice the opinions. She really was open to anything they were, with the exception of something that would get her or them into detention.

Colin snorted when Kim said that ten in the morning was early. "What!? Ten o'clock? Are you serious, Kim? But the Sun rose like four whole hours ago! That's loads of time to do stuff!"

At least he would come along! Though he did wonder if Taizu would as well.

Colin stood up when Bailey did and listened to her as she described what she'd brought along. Scones! Yum! Did she say she made those herself? But when she got to the bit about why they couldn't eat scones in the Library, Colin said: "Messy!? That rule doesn't make any sense! Of course they're messy, they're scones!" He shrugged and made a funny face.

"Hmm. I'd love a dunk in the lake myself! Or maybe we could sneak into --- er!" Colin glanced at Bailey quickly. He thought he recognised that kind of look on her face. "Er --- nothing that would get us in trouble?" He pivoted quickly, hoping she wouldn't notice. "Oh, and lunch? Anything! Let us raid the bountiful larders and groaning smorgasbords of Castle Hogwarts, pillaging all things delicious!"

The entire conversation had passed by Taizu's ears as soon as the girl named Bailey had called him a friend. Immediately, he felt as if he was tricking her in some way. There was no way a person in their right mind want to associate with him, right? Taizu shifted slowly, not wanting her to hate him. After most of them had been talking for a while, Taizu decided to finally tune in to the conversation, saying, "Uhm... Are y-you sure you w-want to be f-friends with me? I'm k-kinda just really bland..." Towards the end of his sentence, his voice began to add a squeaking sound to his words, making him blush in embarrassment.

Looking down at his hands, Taizu began to question everything that was going through his head. His new year fortune had said that he would get many new friends, but he still had doubted it. Even now, when these people were willing to be friends with him, he still thought about how he wouldn't really be able to keep friends.

Looking up again with a nervous smile, he said, "S-so what were we talking about again? I was distracted in my head. T-too much thinking." He let out a nervous chuckle at what he had said, hoping they wouldn't think he was weird.
