Colin had initially been so proud of his suggestion - Ah yes, a solution that made him look just a little less pathetic, while offering some reparations to those he had bothered! - Yet he immediately sensed that perhaps it wasn't quite as good as he thought when he noticed Shiawase's reaction. From her pursed lips, to the slight frown, to her utterance of an elongated "Well," Colin felt that he had crossed a line of some kind, but he wasn't entirely sure what.
Was there some kind of etiquette here that he wasn't aware of? He didn't understand why pushing Shiawase's wheelchair would make the girl uncomfortable, but again, he felt he'd done something to upset her -

"It is an option, but you need to be aware of a couple things first...

- her reasoning only provided further proof of this concern in his eyes. Sure, she could've just said that pushing the wheelchair would be too difficult, but going on to site facts and figures; yes, she was surely trying to dissuade him from this option, no?
....I'm probably overthinking this, he mused silently, but that didn't do anything to lessen the strange shame he felt.
Regardless of whether Shiawase was actually upset or not, he had came to his conclusion before the girl even finished speaking: He should just walk alongside her.

Colin was distracted from his own thoughts by Shiawase's smile. The boy listened to her anecdote, his lips twitching a little as she winked. Oh, of course, totally accidental, he thought, yet the comment never left him, as Shiawase was still speaking; so he remained silent.
As soon as she finished speaking, though, his silence ceased.
"Oh, no, it's fine - It was si- It was a silly suggestion," he stammered out, laughing a little to try and lighten his own mood. "I can just walk along beside you. I'm probably not strong enough t-... Anyway sh- we should probably get going. Best not to loiter around here any longer, we're really - We're likely quite late by now."

Was she too harsh? She had meant to be well-mannered and thoughtful in her speech, but as Colin stammered and laughed, she couldn't help but feel like she may have gone overboard. She'd just wanted to dissuade him from pushing her chair . . . she hadn't meant to make him feel worse!

"It wasn't silly," Shiawase said. "I mean, you couldn't possibly have known all that, right?" She smiled a bit though when he said he'd walk along beside her. "Yeah, good idea! Let's go!" She started to wheel herself forward, going at a relatively slow pace, though she'd speed up or slow down depending on how he was moving. It did feel good not to be pushed . . .

"Yeah, even if you ran and I sped along beside you, we'd still be late. That's rather unfortunate, but couldn't be helped. What do you think they're doing in Charms class now, anyway? All I can think of when I think of charms are charm bracelets. Ooh, maybe we enchant objects in that class? Magic charm bracelets! Or maybe we enchant cereal? Make our own Lucky Charms?"

She let out a laugh of her own and a wink.

"Or maybe we learn how to charm others." She wrinkled her nose. "That one sounds so boring, though, compared to the other options. Anyway, what do you think?"
