A Game of Humiliation

At Vale's answer, saying that Familia was not among the tank of spiders, Avery gulped. So, who knew if these male spiders were friendly or not? If they decided to go rogue, there was no male-eating Familia to help tame them. "Oh... I see..." Avery responded hesitantly, keeping a careful eye on the tank, hoping that he would not draw a Dare card that involved those spiders.
Soon, however, as the conversation moved to Vale's letters home, Avery's ears perked up once more. He couldn't help but blurt out, "Mrs. Ashwood! Did Vale ever write home about any of us? Did she ever say anything about me?" he asked, all of a sudden very curious. If so, Avery would be excited to hear it. Hopefully, anything she wrote would be positive, and his friend would be generous with praise. He was quite confident that anything anyone would write about him could only be good, so he waited for an answer with anticipation.
He watched as Noah drew a card and read it out loud. A crush? Avery didn't know very much about this second-year boy, but the very personal question caught his attention and curiosity. Noah's boyfriend was Michael Miller? The name rang a bell. "Hey, I think I knew Michael," he mused, thinking back to the first night of school, when the boy had let Avery pet his cat. The two of them had sat in the corner together when Victor (who had died the prior school year) came back to the Slytherin common room, drawing the attention of many upperclassmen. "Michael was really nice, I think. He had a really sweet cat. I'm so sorry he left," he said sympathetically. It must've been hard for Noah.
As soon as Hunter read his card, the Ravenclaw boy leapt up for the bowl of spicy peppers, stuffing a handful into his mouth without any hint of what his card said. Avery watched, stunned. Weren't those peppers super spicy? He had a whiff of those, and they were enough to make him cough, despite his Sichuanese upbringing. "What in the world, Hunter!" he exclaimed. "Did your card tell you to sacrifice yourself? Give yourself diarrhea?" Eat until he couldn't stomach his food anymore? By the way he was stuffing his mouth with mandazi, it seemed to be the case. All of a sudden, these seemingly innocuous, purple cards seemed more deadly than they were. The peppers had the boy muttering an unknown language. They really got him; he was speaking in tongues now.
It was then that he glanced down at his own card: Break dance like your life depends on it, because it does. He stared at it for a moment longer. Like his life depends on it? Avery blinked. Did he even know how to breakdance? Wasn't it a bunch of acrobatic spins that looked really cool? It wasn't something the small boy was capable of... He glanced sheepishly at everyone around the table. "Well, guys, prepare to have your socks knocked off," he said, trying to build up his confidence. Since there was no music to accompany his feat, he began beatboxing, or what he thought sounded like beatboxing. At least the musician could carry a sick beat.
He got onto the unliving room floor, and did his best. They mainly looked like very many of these:

The Cards
It seems some had drawn unfortunately some shameful cards earlier. No need to be upset. It'll get painful from here now. @Noah Jupe decided to draw another card so early despite his earlier card forcing him to remember his ex-boyfriend. @Clair Fernandez also seeks a card. While they await their fate, @Avery Chen, and @Hunter Argentum decided to keep their honor for the cards given to them and follow through. They must take joy in humiliating themselves, because they ended up reaching for new cards to work with as well.
Noah Truth
If you had to cause violence, how would you do it? We don't need a reason.Clair Truth
Ever kissed someone?Hunter Dare
Impersonate someone in your group.Vale giggled at the two boys and their antics. It appears they both gotten dare cards with the way they were behaving. She kept a smile, even as Hunter was trying to show off and burn his face off with not just one, but two piri piri peppers. Vale asked her aunt if it was better to just have them eat only a slice of one. Her aunt only shrugged, and told her there was water and milk they could have. Vale eased her mind a bit on it, but seeing how stubborn Hunter was in getting a drink, prehaps it was better to just have them eat slices...even if it brought Vale a sadistic satisfication. She wanted her victims friends willing to come next year after all.Avery Truth
Do you have anyone you like?
Hearing Noah on his ex-boyfriend, however, made Vale slightly frown. Well, that was cruel, even by Ashwood standards. Who abandons their loved one without a warning? Was romance truly such a cruel thing?
Vale's face would return to blushing as Avery asked her mother about her letters. She was ready to speak out in exchange from allowing her mother an open shot at embarassing her, but it was to no avail. Her mother cut in, in just the right amount of time.
"Oh, she talks about you lot all the time. Writes to us about your little adventures too. Told us about your little celebration party, your duels..." Vale moved to rest against her mother's side. Vale hurried to cut off her mother before she spoke more.
"Oh! Did everyone get their cards yet?" Vale noticed Clair and Noah grabbing cards of their own, along with Avery and Hunter who seemed to be trying to prove their strength against being humiliated. A perfect distraction, at least to her. Adana shook her head, smiling as she knit away.

Clair watched as Hunter ate some peppers, oof that would not be a fun one, she liked heat but Two whole peppers of heat? noooooo thanks. And then Noahs sad confession about his crush just disapearing. "Oh Noah that must have been so hard, but that seems like a very rude thing to do on his part, Maybe you'll see him again one day."
she watched as next Avery try to do something, that looked like rolling on the unliving room floor, Clair tried her hardest not to laugh, but it was rather funny to watch him.
Looking down at her own card, she became glad she was not one to blush, lr else this would be worth blushing about, had she ever kissed anyone? Could she lie? No, Clair Fernandez never lied, no if anything she would bend the truth in half, squish past it, bend it back and go on with life, but no she would never fully lie. Did animals count? She had kissed Comet many times, and also her cows and horses, and one boy.....
"Ummm, Do Animals count? Because I've kissed Comet, and my cows and horses, and....." She thought how to word it, "And Simon." There we go, no surnames, so it could be any Simon, not only Simon Kincaid, there had to be more Simons.
She took another card, wondering what it would be.

Impersonate someone? Not exactly something Hunter was very keen on doing as he didn't exactly like bringing attention to himself. He also had a few questions about the card as he was trying to see if he could find a loophole. Of course, he could lie, but that wasn't exactly good for reputation even in a game. If Hunter lied today, then would people trust him if word got out? Also, the boy ad never really lied nor found a reason to do so. Either he kept his mouth shut to not say the things upon his mind, or he would blatantly tell someone something if needed.
"Impersonate someone in your group," he said out loud enough for others to hear. If he did find a way around it, then would Vale be upset? Well, that would be her fault and not his, right? "I'll impersonate myself then since there's no specification that I can't choose myself. After all, I am included in the group," was all that the young Ravenclaw boy said. He laid back and took out his journal. Some would potentially be annoyed by the amount of writing Hunter did, at the rate he goes he'd require more than one journal each year. Others would either be fascinated by his dedication to note-taking and some would be curious as to what he wrote. As for this game, he took slight notes on everyone's actions and answers. This game seemed interesting and was a good way to learn about each person. Perhaps he should attempt at gaining a bit more specifications as well, "As in Simon Corbin, the Gryffindor girl?" Hunter asked, addressing Clair; Hunter's eyes didn't move from his paper.

interacting: everyone, particularly @Avery Chen
Della's card asked if she'd ever lied to an adult. Well, that was an easy one considering she was in a family full of muggles and couldn't possibly tell everyone the truth. But would that be a lame answer? As she formulated what to say that would seem at all cool, she watched as the others dived into their dares. Hunter impressively ate hot peppers—Della was glad that wasn't her card. Her pale hair made any face redness glow even brighter. And Avery showed off his moves on the unliving room floor. She gave the Slytherin an encouraging cheer, "Go Avery!" It wasn't the best she'd ever seen, but it was certainly better than anything she could bring to the table.
Noah shared his crush, a name Della didn't recognize, and Clair shared her fist kiss. Simon. Which Simon did she mean? She couldn't possibly be talking about the dashing Hufflepuff boy, right? Hunter mentioned Simon Corbin, and Della hoped that was right. She couldn't bear to hear anything more about Simon's love triangles, or love quadrilaterals, or love pentagons, or whatever, after Valentine's Day.
"My card is a truth. 'Have you ever lied to an adult?' I once punched a boy and blamed it on a magical snake I found. I guess I didn't know the snake magical at the time, but it sure did get me out of a bind." Della carefully tiptoed around the fact that the snake had talked to her. She wasn't sure what the group would say if she revealed that fun fact about herself.

A Game of Humiliation

Avery got up from the floor, some unliving room dust clinging to his clothes, which he patted down. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed his little show. He thought it was pretty neat breakdancing, to be honest. "Go Avery!" Della cheered him on, and she seemed to be the only person to do so thus far. Was Hunter not impressed? Avery would ask him if he thought he could do better. It didn't even look like the Ravenclaw boy did any sports, so that would be a long shot. Or maybe he was still feeling the burn from those chili peppers; in that case, Avery could forgive him.
"Thanks, Della!" he responded gratefully, shooting the Gryffindor girl a toothy grin and two finger guns. "I mean-" he fumbled, remembering her love letter once more "-thanks, man." He raised his chin with a nod of his head as he said it, cool as a cocktail. Surely, calling her 'man' would indicate that he only intended on being friends?
He listened intently as Mrs. Ashwood spoke, eager to cling onto every word she said. So, Vale wrote about them all the time? And all the adventures they had together? Avery grinned widely at the information. "Aww, Vale! I didn't know you loved us that much! We love you, too!" he cooed, forming a heart shape with his hands, and just in time, since Vale rushed them into picking up their next cards.
At Clair's response, Avery became curious. Which Simon had she kissed? Surely not the hot shot womanizer, Simon Kincaid? Or it might very well be him, knowing how popular he was with the girls. Hunter seemed just as curious; either that, or he was eager to exercise his digging skills for fresh content in his journal. "Hey, try harder next time, Argentum," Avery prodded. "That was majorly disappointing." Hopefully, Vale could see it from his perspective, too. Maybe they should introduce punishments for poor effort.
Avery snickered as Della admitted to punching a boy and blaming a snake. "So, did they believe you, or did they believe the snake?" he asked with a straight face, as if he was serious about the question. However, deep inside, he actually meant it jokingly, because snakes definitely couldn't talk, but he wanted to mess with everyone just a bit.
Avery drew his card. "Do I have someone I like?" He stared at the question for a split second, not expecting this one to land upon him. How was he to respond to that? It was not in Avery's nature to lie. In fact, he could never lie convincingly even if he tried. He decided to speak a truth nevertheless. "Yeah, well, I pretty much like everyone," he said, adding an innocent shrug, as if the answer was obvious. "I think I get along with people more than most." Humble, subtle brag, am I right?

A Game of Humiliation
Hunter lifted his hoodie up to cover half his face. He felt slightly embarrassed by Avery's sly comment about disappointing him with his answer. Hunter didn't exactly feel like picking up another card after that, and moreover just felt tired after eating too much bread. He then said, "mnafiki," hypocrite when Avery gave his answer on whether he liked anyone. His answer was as just, or rather, more disappointing than Hunter's previous dare. He said it loud enough to make sure everyone could at least hear him and notice him, and he turned his eyes towards Avery. Hunter wanted to confirm his suspicion on whether Avery had a crush on Della Barfield or not. Something was going on, and Hunter's paranoid antics were pinpointing certain clues in Avery's tone of voice and word choice. Looking at Avery, Hunter only said, "Della..." The room was slightly quiet, and Hunter wanted the word to sink in a little to get any sort of reaction out of Avery. Whatever action it was, he would then begin to jot it slightly down back in his journal.
Hunter was slightly annoyed with Avery's comment, and he wasn't completely sure as to why. Even though Avery saved Hunter from a painful poison back at Hogwarts, Hunter didn't feel any closer to Avery since it was against his request of going back to the potions classroom. Avery had a lot of good traits, but they weren't exactly the kind to allow Hunter to put his guard down around him. After saying Della's name, and allowing it to sink into Avery's skin and ears a bit, Hunter shifted his gaze to Della herself. Her story sounded fun, but there was an aspect Hunter was curious about. His eyes shifted back towards his journal and he began his calming (to some annoying) writing: "You didn't know it was magical at the time... was it an Ashwinder?"
Ashwinders, magical serpents from what Hunter recalled from his reading of magical beast. He also knew their eggs were utilized in certain potions, and it was the first creature to pop into his head when Della said a "magical serpent." Hunter never really spoke or interacted with Della much, and he figured he should at least try and get to know her as of now. Whether she knew what an Ashwinder was or wasn't could still lead to valuable information about the young Gryffindor girl.
