Lavia scooted closer to the boy, propping the book up on the window of the compartment, so they both could look closer. She was a little surprised to see the pictures moving, as she was used to only portraits doing so, but supposedly, even paintings and drawings had that ability, she had just never seen it.
"It must be a choice on their part, to become a ghost... But I wouldn't know how to decide what house would even have which ghost." she spoke, looking at the page. Sir Nicholas, or his more famous nickname, Nearly Headless Nick, The bloody Baron, the Grey lady, and the fat Friar...
"their names do seem to tell a story... Mayhaps they once were students?" she suggested, blinking as she looked at where Leo pouinted, looking at the four founders.
"Godric Gryffindor... Helga Hufflepuff.... Rowena Ravenclaw... Salazar Slytherin..." she read out loud, frowning. Each character semed almost regal on the portraits, with the Painting of Helga curtseying at them, and Godric Gryffindor standing, proudly holding his famous sword.
"...I wonder how it must have been, going to the school in their times... must have felt even more magical than now." she mused, flipping a page, as she face of the famous poltergeist showed up, making Lavinia giggle. "Oh, Peeves the Poltergeist! I hope he's still around!"

"May... Haps...?" Leo looked thoroughly confused, his English was a very good level, but he had never heard that word before. "I suppose they might be, I wonder how old they are!" His eyes flitted across the page, following Lavinia's finger. He watched as the page turned to reveal the smirking face of Peeves. Leo beamed at the thought. "I bet we'll get into all kinds of adventures. What are you most looking forward to?"
He looked back down to the warm pie in his lap and considered this question for himself. He wondered briefly what career he would be looking to go into, and the OWLs and NEWTs this would require him to take, but he quickly dismissed this thought. It seemed like much too daunting a subject for him to think so far into the future. He turned back to Lavinia. "Oh! And what house are you hoping you'll be sorted into?" Leo's mind raced at the thought of this too. After all, this would be what determined what customisations and ornamentations he would be adding to his uniform black robes for the next few years. Leo loved the idea of all the things he could do to spice up his look.

A comfortable train ride
Charlie was having a hard time to find a seat, and like her father said, tried to stay away from the back compartments. As she shuffled her way down the corridor, she would peak into some compartments from the outside. A lot were filled already, some talkative individuals and some quiet. The further she went, the closer she reached to the trolley filled with sweets. She could smell pumpkin and peppermint as she passed by it, the smell almost lifting her off of her feet, but she decided to save her appetite for later. The train began to rumble and shake, beginning it's departure from the platform. She held onto the side of the wall for now to keep her balance. Students started waving outside of the window to say their goodbyes, and as soon as the train kept a steady pace, she continued her decent. She eventually heard soft voices coming from two individuals in the middle of the corridor, and shyly opened the compartment door. Inside was young Hispanic boy with dark hair, his eyes dark but welcoming. Then a blonde girl sat by the window, clutching onto her Hogwarts: A History textbook. "Hello, can I sit 'ere with you? All 'de other compartments seem full." Charlie's accent stood out more than usual, showing her nervousness even more.

Lavinia smiled at Leo, pondering hisquestions for a moment. "Well... i dont really care what houses i end up in, but, well, my parents and my Aunt both gave bet five Galleons of which house. My mom thinks Hufflepuff, and dad and Aunt thinks Gryffindor. But i dont know if either of those fit me...." she spoke, hovering over the text of the values... kindness, Loyalty, bravery, fearlessness, cunningness, cleverness... so many values, and she hardly understood what any of them meant, or if she had them.
She got thrown out of her thoughts when a voice from the door spoke, making her look up, at the newcomer, smiling as she realized it was another first year.
"Oh, of course you can, come in!" She spoke, again moving things to make a space for the newcomer. "Im Lavinia." She introduced herself.
"First-year, and you are?" She asked, straihtening up and trying not to knock anything over. The book slid fown, falling onto her lap, making Lavinia pout, but she easily propped the book back up again.
"We're reading up on Hogwarts, and about what houses we might end up in. What do you hope for?" She asked, smiling and trying not to scare the newcomer away.

"You seem quite clever to me, I bet you'll be in Ravenclaw." Leo gave a warm smile as he pointed to the intimidating woman in the blue robes on the page.
Leo looked up at the new first year that had entered their compartment and gave a genuine welcoming smile. After Lavinia had introduced herself, he held up his hand in a coy little wave "Leo Del Mar." He introduced himself. "That's a lovely accent you have. Do you mind if I ask where you're from?" He cut Charlie a slice of his pumpkin pie and carefully held it out to her, offering it as a sort of peace offering to the new arrival. He realised now that some form of napkin would've been really handy in this situation, but fortunately, the pie had been cooked well enough that the filling wasn't too runny and the crust held firm in one's hands.
He smiled enthusiastically as Lavinia talked about the topic of houses. "I hope I'm in Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. I look good in warm colours." He grinned impishly as he dramatically flicked away a strand of his own hair, silently hoping the other two would find this funny.

"Charlie Grace," she acquainted herself to the lot as she sat down next to Lavinia. The compartment smelled of nutmeg and cinnamon, marginally drawing her attention going towards her stomach. It's the second time she smelled food, this time making her mouth water. "I'm a first year too," she smiled modestly, "a majority of my family are Gryffindors, I assume I'll be de same. I couldn't imagine any other 'ouse, but I think I'd be 'appy any other way." The prospect of her being on the chair as the hat called out her house send shivers down her spine, she felt invigorated and anxious at the same time.
She turned to Leo, "I'm Iresh, I was raised in Dublin," she accepted the slice benevolently, and was careful not too eat it too fast. The taste of pumpkin spice dissolved all over her tongue, she murmured gleefully. "Go raibh maith agat" ( Thank you )
She looked at the both of them, happy to be making at least a couple of acquaintances before her journey started at Hogwarts. Her curiosity peaked, Hogwarts: A History wasn't on the top of her reading list. "I dedn't bother reading it before school started," she made a breathy laugh, "'ahnestly I was more interested into de Magical Drafts and Potions, but after a few pages I couldn't understand a word o' it."

"Hmmmm yeah, yellow seems to be your color." Lavinia giggled, following Leo's eyes to the woman in blue. Wisdom.... she hadnt ever considered it before, but she supposed curiosity, wh8ch seemed to rush through her ever since she hot the letter, made Ravenclaw fitting.
Smiling at Charlie, she felt happy to have possibly even more than one new friend. "Wow, you came all the way to London, only to now go to hogwarts." She spoke, amazed. She did imagine it must be quite inconvenient that the train only had two stops.
"Thats quite a journey. Would almost think there should be more ways to get to school than one train. " she giggled. "I read that Hogwarts lie near scotland,i wonder what they do with students who already live there, do they still have to travel to London, just to go back?" She pondered. Maybe there were more than one Hogwarts Express? Or maybe some students could just walk to hogwarts? But then they'd not see the wonders of Diagon Alley. "
"Personally, i cant wait to learn charms. It would make life so much easier." She mused, flipping a page, coming up to the classes taught at the school. More than she'd imagined. "I hope they don't expect us to learn every single one of these.... theres so many."

Leo grinned as Lavinia laughed at his joke. His eyebrows raised in surprise as he heard where the girl was from. Silently, he wondered how many people from around the UK and beyond he would meet here. "Well, we've got a broomstick at home. I think we could've used that to get here, but my mum really wanted to drive me. She said it was tradition." he rolled his eyes at the concept, but smiled nonetheless at his familial sentimentality.
He blinked in confusion as Charlie spoke in Irish, then tentatively said "Salud." Thinking that she had sneezed. "So your whole family went to Hogwarts too? Both of you?." He looked between his two new friends a little nervously. Would he be the only person at his new school that hadn't had a bajillion generations attend the school before him?
"I'm excited for all of it." He grinned thoughtfully. "But at home the magic my family use the most is charms, herbology and potions, so I guess that might be the most relevant stuff to me." He was slightly nervous about some of the other subjects in fact. Particularly, he wondered if his duelling technique would be vastly underdeveloped compared to the other students, mostly because he was such an endless pacifist.

Charlie showed the slight trace of glitter on her palms, "My parents used 'loo powder," she tried to wipe the rest on her robes but no luck so far. "Its easier to travel to de Leaky Cauldron, still makes me sick 'doe." Her stomach turned thinking about it, leaving a bad taste of sulfur in her mouth.
Leos question was rather odd to Charlie, "O' course, aren't yers?" Her question was indeed insensitive, but she only found the question peculiar. Aren't all students witches and wizards? She thought to herself, but then it clicked for her. She completely forgot half-bloods and muggle born go to Hogwarts, being surrounded by pure blood families made her blind to that. Before Leo could respond she quickly added, "not 'suming your parents are both witch n' wizard, are ye half-born?" Charlie treaded on the word carefully, not to sound ignorant. She only assumed now just from him stating earlier his family had a broomstick.
She had a cousin on her mother's side, half-blood as well. Charlie remembered the absolute fit Nanna had when she found out of her uncle-in-law being a muggle. She was very old fashioned.
While Lavinia sorted through the pages of her book, Charlie skimmed through most of it. There was alot of new things to learn, thank goodness she has all year to learn it all.

"both my parents went, yes." Lavinia spoke, smiling. "My mither's a Gryffindor and my dad's a Hufflepuff. Apparently they met because my dad ran into trouble in a Care of Mgical creatures class, and my mum saved him from being hurt." she smiled, giggling.
"I'd not say im pure, but my mom's great aunt was a muggle, or something like that, but apparently we've been lucky to have some muggleblood and yet almost always producing wizards, and only one Squib." she mused, flipping the pages, stopping to read more about the school.
"Potions does seem to suit you, isn't cooking a bit less extreme version of brewing a potion?" she asked, giggling, as she closed the book eventually, having read almost two entire chapters, as she swapped to another book, The Standard Book Of Spells.
"Personally, I'd love some helpful charms, like the levitation charm. I hate picking stuff up after myself~" she giggled, flipping to the page with the levitation charm on it, a illustration of a floating feather on it.
"I'd also love the muggle studies one... My dad works for the Accidental magic Reversal Squad, so he tells me he sees alot of muggle families... and so, alot of Muggle items he'd never seen before, and I'd love to be able to join him one day,. and explain to him the things he saw. Like one time, he saw this macxhine, and it made a loud ding, and toast popped up! It must be some sort of toast-summoning item."
