"Charles." He responded promptly to her question, sitting himself down on the bench closest to the door handle. His posture was very firm, a mixture of discomfort and an old habit that he would need to break.

"It's nice to meet the both of you, sorry for cutting into your conversation. I was stupid and entered the train late, turns out there wasn't many booths left."

Charles' skin was a bit ruddier in tone than most welsh boys, so he stood out a bit from the two. Though he didn't seem to act the part, he had very proper English. He took an immediate interest in the book in Eliphas' hands, was that a full collection of Narnia? He let out a short laugh.

"No way, I was thinking about Narnia when I was running through that wall. It's our equivalent to a dresser. He frowned, "Or is it a wardrobe? I never actually read the books... I'm not much of a reader really."

He stretched out his legs and watched as the train took off from the station, stone and brick giving way to open sky and rolling hills. It wasn't often that he rode trains, and this one in particular seemed...Quite fast. It was impressive really, how muggles made such impressive machines that even wizards wouldn't touch the train's design. Still, he felt like there may be some magic speeding it up.

"Are you two new to magic as well? I'm honestly overwhelmed." He made his last comment, and awaited the others' response. He was still sussing out the two, wondering if they were worth sticking around with after the train stopped. Not that he could afford to be picky with what friends he chose, but he'd rather not be stuck with snooty kids. He was unfortunate enough to know that some wizards simply despised newcomers to the magical world, as was evidenced by the group he had followed and their comments.

"Charles." Orla nodded with a smile, looking over to Eliphas. "Well, not to worry Charles-- You're welcome to join us!" Orla was happy for the company. Being a first year could be incredibly intimidating, especially a new first year with no experience with the Wizarding World. Orla was lucky, as it was, that she at least had Caspian. Consider herself extra lucky with her parents being magical beings as well.

"It's actually more like an armoire, of sorts." Orla interjected. "Since technically the author didn't specify whether it had drawers or not. Though, considering the title, I do suppose it is a wardrobe." She'd remembered on several accounts Caspian and her got in arguments over the technicalities of the fictional work. She nodded her head as she watched him settle in, shifting to turn her attention to him.

"My dad's a worrier, that's why Caspian had the honor of getting an owl every other day." She told Eliphas, putting a bow on their conversation and his question prior.

She looked to Charles, nodding her head. "My parents both went to Hogwarts, so I've sort of grown up around magic. Though, I live in a muggle city. Killin, Scotland, to be exact." She said. "My brother's a second year Gryffindor too. I don't suppose any of this is familiar to you?" She laughed softly. "I don't know much, but I do know what I know. I was just telling Eliphas that I haven't much practical use from all the magic I experienced as a kid..."

Orla, while not exactly a seasoned witch, seemed to be a bit more adept to the Wizarding World than Eliphas and Charles. Which was, again, lucky on her part. But, being the kindred and kind soul she was, she was more than willing to share as much as she could with them.

"You two are nerds." Charles let loose a grin, joking lightheartedly with the two, "I'm going to have to catch up on Narnia, since I've hopped into a booth with die-hard fans.

"Not familiar, no, but I'd be happy to hear about what you DO know." He answered her comment about Hogwarts terminology like Gryffindor and the like. Honestly, he found it strange that there wasn't at least a pamphlet on board that explained more about the school. It's not like he could perform a quick google search and find anything meaningful. It was kept secret.

Turning his attention to include Eliphas, he said, "You're new to this too, yeah? What kind of wand did you two get? I've been really interested in mine, been trying to wave it around and get sparks to fly out. I managed it one time, I couldn't believe it! He grinned.

Strange that magic was performed with wands, most of the time he had fantasized the act like commanding the elements with your hands. The ability to send fire hurling by shooting out a fist...maybe that was a meat-headed idea. Still, needing a tool to perform magic was a pretty strange idea to him, but it made sense. Everybody used tools to perform specific tasks, why not one to perform magic?

"It's nice to meet you, Charles," he said as the other boy introduced himself and settled down within the booth. Once again the book in his hand served to be some sort of conversation springboard, as he remarked how their experience out on the platform - or more, accessing the platform - was akin to the wonderment found within the Wardrobe which led the Pevensie children to Narnia.

Eliphas scratched his jaw in thought as the technicalities of the book were spoken, then he merely shrugged. "Wardrobe, armoire... I don't think dresser works, though, that's just drawers, isn't it? It would be funny to see a bunch of kids trying to crawl into drawers, though." He chuckled at that, and shook his head.

"Well... If you ever want to read it, I'm happy to borrow you my copy. Just, don't lose it." Did that need to be said? Probably not, but he would have felt awful if he'd lost his mother's book after she'd insisted on him taking it with him.

He patiently waited as Orla explained her experiences to Charles, mulling over talks of her father and Caspian as he remained a little confused about the whole owl situation. Maybe that was wizard lingo for something? Like an email? He figured he'd find out eventually, there was no need in continuing to discuss it now, especially with the presence of another student. It seemed a little rude to continue a conversation he had no context for, after all.

"Only my father attended Hogwarts," he explained after Orla was finished and Charles asked if he was new to the wizarding world also. "But he never told me he was a wizard, or that magic was real, so this is all brand new for me too. It's all so crazy, isn't it?"

He smiled in solidarity. At least neither would be alone in experiencing the newness of magic going forward. Then talks once again turned to wands. At this point Eliphas wondered if he oughtn't just grab his from his bag, though he opted not to for now.

"Cherry wood, with a dragon heartstring core," he stated, rather happily. He liked his wand, it felt right when he held it and it gave a very satisfying swish when he waved it around, whooshing through the air due to its unyielding state. "I haven't tried to use it though, other than the one time at Ollivanders of course."

Settling the rather hefty book down on the seat beside him, he looked over to Charles. "What about yours?"

OOC: Apologies if it's a little disjointed, Charles' reply came through when I initially tried to post it, so I edited to reflect his post :)

Orla snorted out, trying to contain the burst of laughter that came through at the imagery of a bunch of kids cramming themselves in drawers and hoping to find some sort of magical land. She covered her mouth with her hand, a giggle running through her body as she pictured the audacious and wild thing which seemed to be keeping Orla contained momentarily. "You're right, Eliphas." She said, finally getting a grip on her laughter. "A bunch of kids crawling into drawers would be quite funny." She chuckled, shaking her head at that silly thought.

Orla turned her attention to Charles, now sobering herself up from her laughing fit. "So... My dad Louie and my mum Ruth both went to Hogwarts. Different times, though, they weren't the same year or anything. Back in the day, Hogwarts was a bit different so I'm not sure too much of their stories are reliable or whatever... But-- From what Caspian tells me, it still has the same charm. With spells and potions and everything. And flying. On a broomstick!" She chirped. She was probably most excited about that. Flying around seemed so... out of the ordinary! Even Orla, who lived in a magic family, would be astounded by that! "There's a lot to cover, of course. But a lot of the information is in our textbooks. History of Magics, Fantastic Beasts, Potions! All sorts of stuff. But... for now, I will say, we've got to be prepared for a spectacle. Apparently the first day, especially for first years, there's a spectacle of magic from the professors or something..."

When Eliphas began talking about his wand, Orla popped up from her seat, opening her bag and digging through with a hint of mischief as she did so. She just couldn't help it... She'd retrieved her wand, shoving haphazardly her items back in. Before she could show it off though, she turned to Eliphas. "Dragon heartstring core?!" She exclaimed. "That's awesome!" She said, eyes wide at the prospect of something so cool sounding.

The train took a turn and Orla felt herself shift, nearly toppling over. She was cursed with clumsiness, unfortunately. Settling in, she cleared her throat, grinning to both the first years as she showed hers off. Sure, she'd just gotten it this year, but it was most certainly her prized possession. "Behold... Aspen Alasdair The Great." Yes... She had named her wand. No, she did not feel silly about it.

He laughed alongside the two, the thought of kids cramming themselves into a drawer sounded mighty entertaining. He straightened his features and nodded to Eliphas.

"Chestnut and Dragon Heartstring, looks like we got something similar!" He smirked, "I wonder if it affects what kind of spells we do, we might end up with the same classes, imagine that."

He listened in to Orla's explanation of what she had heard through her brother. Alchemy, Broomsticks...

Suddenly, he burst into laughter, "B-broomsticks? You're joking right? We actually use broomsticks? He snorted, shaking his head, "Sorry, that just sounds so silly...It must be fun though, last time I used a plane was when I moved to Wales. I wonder what it would feel like to fly around on your own."

He would have to explore his textbooks. Although he wasn't well versed in wizard terminology, he reckoned he could get enough from the dusty tomes to learn some entertaining subjects. Possibly even learn a spell before his first class, now wouldn't that be impressive? Now that Orla was rummaging through her trunk, he quickly followed suite. His wand was longer and brighter than most others, he almost felt obligated to boast that it had chosen him. And honestly, he wanted an excuse to get it out, he had been playing with the damn thing since he had gotten it. And at last, he revealed a long, 33.6 cm wand with a slight curve near the hilt and a bright chestnut flare.

"Nice to meet aspen...this is, uh, bob." He blinked stupidly, turning to face Eliphas, "Are we supposed to name our wands?" He whispered, unsure.

Beasts and potions and broomsticks.

Though he'd obviously picked out his cauldron, and he'd bought the Fantastic Beasts book, it hadn't fully registered in his mind the sorts of classes they'd be used for. But the latter, the notion of broomstick flight, was entirely new to him. After all, there was no broomstick listed on their First Year supply list. "She has to be kidding..." Right? What was this, Hocus Pocus?

Both of the others showed off their wands, and had even named them! Though Bob seemed like a very hasty afterthought which made him smirk to hold back a giggle. "I'm not sure, but there's no harm right?"

Well now it seemed as though he simply had to retrieve his wand! Back up onto the seat he stood, careful not to touch his shoe to the book, and after a few seconds he had his wand retrieved. It was still in its box.

He stared at it for a moment, the box that was, before turning and plopping back down into his seat. Careful hands released the two parts of the box, unveiling the wand which lay snug inside. It wasn't as long as the other two, though it had a pleasantly turned notch just about the grip, and the base of the wand reminded him of a barn owl. All in all, he was very happy with it.

"I like your wand name," he said, peering up at Orla. She was imaginative, he'd give her that. Whenever he'd play Knights or some other medieval style adventure at Liverpool Castle he'd always named his swords... Not so different from a wand, right?

"I like Wales," he suddenly remarked, as though only just picking up on what Charles had previously said about flying. "I think you have the best flag ever! Though I can't imagine having to draw it..." Being from Lancashire, the Dune family had made several mini-holidays to Wales and the Welsh border. He'd always enjoyed passing through Shropshire on the way there, it had so many castles!

She looked Eliphas dead in the face and shook her head. "I am dead serious." She told him with a certain intensity that seemed comically scary. Her smile returned her face and she waved her hands. "It's not as crazy as you think! Caspian was great at riding the first time he flew!" She dropped her wand and returned to her seat, pointing it away from Eliphas. It was bad to aim a wand at anyone you didn't intend to use a spell on... And all three of them, well, they didn't exactly know a safe way to use any spells.

She stared in wonderment at Eliphas' wand. There was something so special about wands-- she had always been quite fascinated by them. She couldn't count the number of times she'd been scolded by her parents for finding theirs and waving them about. Even going to Ollivanders with Caspian for his wand was an exciting time for her. It felt like something so special that she couldn't describe the sensation or the emotion.

"Thanks." She grinned at Eliphas, clutching Aspen Alasdair The Great with a squeeze of glee. "I do too..." She'd always had a big imagination and that didn't stop short of anything.

"I've never visited Wales." Orla admitted. "Only seen pictures. Furthest we've ever gone was Otter St. Mary!" She explained. "But that was only for the holidays when I was little." She nodded her head, pondering a bit. "Though, I suppose we could've gone to Wales. It's not too far..." She shook her head and shrugged. "I don't mind staying in Killin though. There's lots of stuff to explore. That's where me and my best friend got into the most fun! There was this old lake that had tons of caves and stuff around it. And abandoned mine shafts." She waved her hand and then a thought came to her.

"I wonder if Hogwarts has anything interesting to explore?" She said, a hint of mischief glinting in her eye and swelling those curious green eyes like something dangerous. She'd always been one to get into mischief...

Orla seemed dead set in what she was saying, and who was he to fight with her on it? Eliphas knew absolutely nothing about the wizarding world, and here he was sat before someone raised by a witch and a wizard! If she said broomsticks were real, then they were real.

And that filled him with both dread and delight.

"Do you think, maybe, we'll get to use them this year? I didn't have that on my list of things to bring... Maybe it's not for First Years?"

Though she had already trumped that idea. Caspian was only a little older, wasn't he? From what he'd gathered throughout their conversation at least. Maybe that meant they would be learning to fly this year! "Have you ever flown?"

As they shared wands, Eliphas began to wonder what he might call his. Definitely had to suit an owl, right? It only made sense... Still, nothing came to mind just yet so he let the matter lie and listened instead as Orla began to explain the trips she'd been on in her youth.

And those talks turned quickly to adventure!

"Oh I really hope it does!" he said, practically bouncing in his seat at the idea. He replaced the lid to his wand box, not wanting to accidentally break it, and then set it to one side. "If there is, I want to unearth it all! We could go on adventures, couldn't we? I wonder how big the castle is? I've visited lots, but they were always just ruins. A real castle... Oh it's so exciting, Orla!"

As fearful as he had been, and as homesick as he was feeling deep inside, Eliphas Dune was genuinely excited to attend Hogwarts.
