Have we met before?
Oooo, Samantha really knew how to come up with fun, cheeky responses, didn't she? Calling him mean, even though he was obviously a very nice and fun boy (right?). He laughed with a loud guffaw at the image of the Ravenclaw girl getting whatever she wanted with just a glare before smacking his mouth shut with a hand upon realizing that they were still backstage, and that someone was likely performing. Surely, he didn't want the performer to think someone in the audience was laughing at them!
However, all thoughts of the audience and the performers were lost as he demonstrated his scariest roar. What was meant to represent the strength of a thousand Gryffindor lions only caused Samantha to emit a loud laugh. Really? Did he fail that badly? Or was Samantha just so stunned by how scary he was that she was amused?
Oh yeah, the greatest Auror would run away if they heard that? Avery nodded to himself, satisfied by her judging of his 10/10 scariness. And he'd even win the talent show as a scary man? Perfect. See? He had done it.
But wait, was she really saying this because it was true, or was she just joking again? Avery couldn't tell, because he truly believed he had succeeded, but Samantha was a clever jokester, after all. Before he could stop to ask her to confirm, she turned on her heel to head towards the concession stand.
"It was really nice to actually meet you, too!" he said. "Thank you, wish me luck during voting!" he called out after her with a wave. And then she ducked out through the curtains.
Avery smiled to himself. Well, that was a coincidental but fun encounter. And it had turned out a lot better than he thought it would, honestly. Samantha Salwis just became a person he had dreaded to see to someone he hoped he would see again.
