Syl nodded as Serena mentioned her family running an imports and exports business. He didn't know what that kind of business was really, but her words conjured the image of a family all dressed in fancy suits rushing around with briefcases. To be honest, it wasn't the strangest thing he could have imagined. Some people's families were dangerous or wacky and chock-full of loonies. To him, Serena's family sounded quite normal. He would nod respectfully once more so as not to interrupt her as she finished her sentence. The small talk they made together lent to the feeling that their work was far more comfortable now when compared to the silence of earlier. As they worked together, Syl would let his guard down. He would hum gently as he worked, allowing himself to get lost in the details.
As his partner in landscaping announced her completion of the task at hand, his head spun around to look her way. "Oh!" he said in surprise. He was a first hand witness to the quality of her hard work and Serena was certainly no slouch! "You've done more than enough." Quite literally. She'd even done some of his work for him while he'd gotten distracted by the finer details of what he was supposed to be doing. "I really appreciate your help Serena!" Enough that I'm looking forward to working with you again. He would shoot her a soft smile, his eyes closed as he nodded in her direction respectfully. Minerva would let a screech out to him as he did so. She seemed jealous of his attention. A sign she was probably getting hungry. Looking to the bird, he would wave his hand dismissively. "Hush up you," he gently reprimanded her before turning back to Serena. "I've got a little bit more to do, but I'll be right behind you."
He would agree holding up one hand to wave goodbye. "See you around!"
After doing his job he'd head back to the castle for a cupcake. Or maybe two. Gardening was hard, good, work. The kind of work that gave one an appetite. Before he made his way to the castle, curiosity would strike him alongside the rumbling of his stomach. She was out of sight, so the experiment wouldn't likely embarrass either of them. He would take one of the seeding dandelions and pop it into his mouth head first. The result was not something he would record, but the experiment was one he'd never forget the results of. Some ideas were better left untested. Forbidden lollipops included.
