A Troublesome Journey
A bit surprised at the kindness of these people, she smiled and shook Jackson's hand. "i-im Winter Wolfhartz.. nice to meet you" she said in a low tone. She hadn't met anyone yet and for the first time trying to make friends, I guess this really wasn't that bad of a start. "yea I'm ok.." she muttered rubbing her wrist, still a bit embarrassed, but truly glad they didn't make fun of her. These people were being so nice compared to the few she met whilst still on the platform, most of them ignored her, while others made harsh comments.
She had a good feeling about these people, they gave off caring vibes and all had the brightness of the summer sun within their souls. Just when she thought that these people couldn't get any nicer, the girl in front of her complimented her hair. letting out a small laugh she, looked over at Paige, her red eyes glinting in the light as she once again smiled, "o-oh thanks I just got it done before school started..!" she said, in a now confident tone. "y-your hair is beautiful as well.. heh... what am I talking about your beautiful in general!" winter said, sending a compliment flying right back at her. This being the first day could not be forgotten, for this was the day she met her first ever friends.

A Troublesome Journey
Anthony smiled at the other girl as she too helped him up “aye, I’m okay” he reassured “tis nothing but a small tumble” he told her before gently straightening his robes out. He smiled at Winter “it’s a pleasure to meet ye” he said. He picked up his luggage and smiled at Paige again “thank ye so much” he thanked her when she let them into the compartment.
He placed his luggage in the overhead luggage carrier and sat next to Paige. He listened to her introduce herself and smiled “nice to meet you Paige” he said “I’m Anthony” he introduced himself for the second time that day. “Are ye guys first years too?” He asked.
Not that Anthony wouldn’t mind making friends with older kids, but he was just a curious person. His curiosity always got the best of him at times and Anthony would just have to find out the answers to his questions for himself.
He has always been a people person, wanting to make friends with everyone he met, but he also knew that there were some people who didn’t want to make friends and he was okay with that. These kids however seemed to be nice enough, so Anthony decided to try his luck and befriend them.

So many things happened at once.
Jackson had been halfway through coming up with a response to Paige’s words, but was interrupted by not ONE but TWO new people literally falling into the compartment. The two newcomers were both students around his age, a boy with curly black hair and skin as pale as Jackson’s own, and a girl with startlingly snow white hair.
At least the boy had some decency to ask before barging in.
Jackson mentally scolded himself for sounding like such a prick, knowing that these other people were just looking for a place to sit, not unlike he had been a few moments earlier. The brown haired boy merely sighed in response to Paige’s question, shrugging, as he watched the kind eyed girl usher the two others in.
And then came his least favorite part of interacting with people.
Small talk.
It was the bane of his existence, and this was no over-exaggeration. While he did love to hear more about people, what their hobbies and interests were, he was never good at actually talking to them. The girls got set to compliment each other, to which Jackson quietly agreed that the new girl, Winter, had rather pretty hair. It was so quiet he wasn’t even sure anyone heard him. It didn’t matter, he almost hoped they hadn’t heard him. He didn’t want to sound creepy.
Grey eyes met glinting red ones for a brief moment as he turned to look at the two newcomers, making Jackson flush and stare back down at his shoes. No wonder no one ever wanted to be his friend, with the odd ways he interacted with people. Just get a grip, Jackson, and talk to people.
Jackson suddenly remembered, once again, he was supposed to introduce himself to other people. The pale boy cursed under his breath, before looking up again, stumbling over his words as he introduced himself.
“Uh, ‘ello to both o’ you, Winter and Anthony.” Jackson said, glancing between the two of them nervously. “My name is Jackson, its uh, nice to meet you both.”

Paige loved giving compliments. People deserved it! There was always a good side to people had and Paige always saw. It was what she saw first in people. Winter was shy it seemed, but extremely sweet and kind. Now, receiving compliments was a whole other thing. Paige never knew what do with them.
She didn't think of herself as very pretty. But her face flushed as she smiled at Winter. "Oh- my hair is uncontrollable, really" She said, running her hands on her jacket sleeve. "Oh- oh thanks." She said with a bright smile. "I like your eyes, too." She said, shooting back another compliment.
Luckily enough, though, Jackson had seemed okay with the two new people joining them on the ride to Hogwarts. The boy, Anthony, sat down next to Paige. He had a strong accent, and it sounded Scottish. She liked accents, but not hers. She didn't like her English accent, don't ask her why. There was no reason.
Jackson seemed a bit awkward with small talk, and Paige felt slightly bad. She, on the other hand, was right in her element. Socializing. "So." She started, looking at her comrades. She thought out her words. "How many of you guys knew about this world before you got your letter?" She asked.
"I did." She said, after they would reply. "I'm a muggle-born, though. What 'bout you guys?" She blurted, not thinking that one of them would as how she knew about this if she was a muggle-born. She wasn't ready to admit she was a werewolf, exactly, so that wouldn't go well. At all.

Something about the girl with white hair and red eyes made him nervous.
A recognition hovered behind his eyes, but he did not dare address it. There was an air around her he had seen before... something similar to his own. It didn’t matter though, he couldn’t even remember what she reminded him of, so who was he to inquire. He didn’t want to be rude or seem creepy. If he brought it up it just meant more awkward confrontations and small talk.
Jackson blinked a few times, not having expected the sudden question about the wizarding world. Paige must be really good at small talk or actually interested in their personal lives. He hoped it was the latter, he wouldn't mind making a new friend.
"oh, uh, yeah, I've known about it my entire life, I suppose.." Jackson responded to the question, smiling awkwardly. An eyebrow raised when the curly-haired girl continued on, blurting out that she was from muggle parents. Jackson himself was a pureblood, coming from a family full of wizards.. although he had never met anyone on his father's side before.
"I'm a pureblood if that's what you're askin'" The grey-eyed boy replied, cringing internally at how bleak and snappish that might have sounded. Curse him and his monotone voice. "Grew up around magic, my... uh, parents use it around the house all the time."
Jackson seemed to wilt at the mention of his parents, but it wasn't super noticeable unless you were staring at him. He hoped no one was staring at him. After a moment of awkward silence from the boy with the corpse-like skin, he decided to try his hand at small talk.
"Speaking of magic... uh, what house do you think you'll be sorted into?"

Winter smiled at Jackson "i-its nice to meet you too Jackson.." she said, understanding he wasn't good with small talk just by the tone of his voice. Her attention immediately snapped back to Paige as she once again began to speak. Winter wasn't used to getting many compliments, so this was a major confidence boost. "Are you kidding me your hair is straight-up amazing, and may I add you have a great sense of style!" winter exclaimed as she flinched at the compliment of her eyes. "y-you like my eyes..? u-usually they scare people..". she asked, her smile fading a bit as she thinks of the people who made fun of them.
Snapping back into the present as the questions began to flow in, winter smiled. "Y-yea I knew about Hogwarts both my parents and aunt went, I've heard many stories about it... I just hope it's as great as it's made out to be.." she says. Thinking to herself for a moment winter paused. 'muggle-born? she doesn't give off that vibe as the others do..
She decided to just go along with it and not stress over that, after all, she could be wrong. "you're really a muggle-born? I sensed different vibes from you but then again my judgment isn't the best..." Winter states, whilst crossing her arms. Almost completely forgetting the other question, "oh right- i-im actually half dhampir...that's another reason I don't make many friends.. I've been bullied quite a lot for my teeth..." Winter spoke up again. As a dhampir, her teeth weren't normal, her canine teeth were retractable fangs that she would usually keep away unless threatened, or to show someone if asked. And for that matter, she had been bullied being called rude names such as "TOOTHLESS". Though she had been bullied she was not ashamed of what she was, nor would she ever be, she just hoped that the other students wouldn't change their mind after knowing what she was. "huh- oh my aunt always said I had the attitude of a Hufflepuff but the persistence of a Gryffindor so I'm guessing one or the other.. w-what about you?" she asked

A Troublesome Journey
Anthony sent an apologetic look towards the other boy in the compartment as he sat down. He listened to the girls compliment each other and bit his lip, his gaze shifting around the small room and his leg bouncing up and down anxiously. Anthony loved talking to people and wanted to talk to the boy across from him since the girls already seemed to be getting along fine, but Anthony could feel the tension coming from the boy. It was almost as if he didn’t want to talk.
Anthony’s chocolate brown gaze flicked to the carpeted floor of the compartment and he sat there for a while, listening to the girls talk when he finally heard a new voice. He looked to see the other boy introducing himself as Jackson. Anthony let a smile appear on his lips, his eyes twinkling with joy. “Aye, it’s nice to meet ye too, Jackson” he said.
Anthony then turned his attention to Paige who had asked his long they had known about magic. “I’ve known about it all me life” Anthony said. “Me mum works at St. Mungo’s and me dad works for the ministry” he told them. “Me sister, Danielle just graduated from Hogwarts last year” he said, stretching his long legs out in front of him a bit. Anthony listened to a Jackson talk and noticed him slouch a bit when he mentioned his parents, but decided not to say anything as he didn’t want to intrude on anything personal.
He shrugged and leaned back in his seat “I don’t know” he said “I’m kind of hoping Hufflepuff” he said “me whole family were Hufflepuffs” he told them “but me mum says she wouldn’t be surprised if I broke the family tradition” he said.

Jackson smiled awkwardly at the others, relief flooding through him when the conversation shifted back away from his introduction. The spotlight being directed at him was never a good thing, either because of his sensitivity to such a bright light, or because of his incredibly awkward social skills. He glanced briefly at the other boy in the compartment, smiling ever so slightly once more. Jackson sort of understood the conversation between the girls, but wasn’t paying too much attention to it.
That was, until the red eyed girl spoke up about her eyes tending to scare people away. Look, Jackson wasn’t trying to be creepy or over-analytical, but somehow the reminder that she was familiar was shoved back into the front of his mind. He furrowed his eyebrows a bit, staring back down at his feet as he mulled things over, the conversation continuing easily. Obviously, he wasn’t going to just straight up ask her where they knew each other from- he didn’t even know if she was getting the same sense from him!
Jackson had tuned the conversation out once more, turning to stare out the window for a bit. It was gloomy, as it usually was in the english countryside. In the distance he saw a gorgeous manor with sprawling grounds covered in mist. A similar twinge of recognition from before sparked inside of him as he squinted his eyes over at the manor, but his attention was drawn away when Winter mentioned being half-dhampir. Jackson snapped back towards the others, the dots connecting in his mind.
That’s where he knew her from. Or, at least, that’s how he recognized her. She was part vampire, just like he was. Jackson recognized her as another dhampir.
“Of course- that’s where I recognized you from!” Jackson said out loud, grinning widely for the first time the entire train ride. The wide grin revealed the little gaps where his canines should be, not unlike Winter’s own. “I’m, uh, a dhampir as well.. I knew there was something about you that was familiar.”
“Oh, and, i’m hoping gryffindor, but it probably won't happen-”

Paige was pretty chill. She was chatting with her new (possible) besties, humming a song in her head. She could only shrug when she was asked about the house she thought she would be in. "Dunno, Maybe Hufflepuff I guess. I've been told I seem like a Hufflepuff." She said, inspecting a cut on her finger, wondering where it even came from. "It would be cool if we both got Hufflepuff, Winter!"
Only moments before, she had tensed up when Winter had said she got different vibes. "I... uh... w-what kind of vibes dare I ask?" She had said, sitting up and suddenly feeling hot. She wasn't ready to be made fun of, so she was freaked out.
Wait. A... a dhampir? Half "monster", as people would put it, half human? Paige froze as Jackson, innocent Jackson, blurted out he was one too. Paige looked at Anthony for a moment before nodding. "Wow. Uh... so certain we're sharing stuff about ourselves..." She tugged at her jacket sleeve and took a gulp.
"I uh..." She cleared her throat. "I am a Werewolf..." She said casually, or as casually as she could. She looked out the window, waiting for their reactions.

A smile of his own, lit up Anthony’s face when he saw Jackson smile. He heard the three of them mention stuff about themselves and their races; Winter and Jackson being dhampirs while Paige herself was a werewolf. He saw Paige look out the window as if she was afraid they would criticize her. He gently nudged her shoulder with his own and offered a small smile. “Hey” he said in a soft voice “we’re not gonna judge you” he reassured her “everyone’s different” he told her.
He remembered his father telling him stories about his ancestors. His grandmother was a Veela, making his father half Veela, meaning Anthony could have some Veela in him, he just wasn’t sure yet. “I might possibly be part Veela” he told them “I’m just not sure yet. I’m still looking back on some family history” he said with a shrug.
Anthony was sure he had found his friend group, now he just had to make sure to keep it. He always found it easy to make friends, but found out it was harder to keep them. He just had to make sure he was able to hang onto them for as long as possible.
