Person 1: Once there lived a lonely man in a clock tower. He had long grey hair and had not smiled since he was very small. His job was to run the massive timepiece, and it was tedious work indeed.
Person 2: Every day at dawn the man would climb to the little balcony way at the tippy-top of the tower, and look out over the city. Usually, he saw simply buildings sitting all in a row like ingredients on a shelf, stretching far as the eye could see, and people going about their lives. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Person 3: One crisp morning in early November, the man, whose name was Ferdinand, saw...

Once, when she was very small, Antonia Oberon discovered magic. Now, it was not your ordinary sort of magic, with wands and incantations. No, this magic was something much, much more ancient.Not only was this magic ancient, it was also dangerous. Because this magic was drawn straight from the core of the witch. With every spell that Antonia cast, a small part of her faded away. But as more and more of the young girl faded, her magic grew more and more powerful. Though Antonia didn't want to fade away into nothingness, oblivion, she also didn't want to stop her magic. You see, the magic was addicting. Once you start using it, it's nearly impossible to stop.

For does someone else not die with every tick of the clock that goes past? Antonia used to sit in the attic and watch the old grandfather clock - tick, tock, tick, tock... each one of those ticks another person dead, one for each person who has ever walked on the planet, and - eventually - one for her, too. Until recently, this wasn't a thing Antonia felt she could shy away from; it was the rhythm of life. But one day, when the girl reached her early teens and half her life had ebbed away, she met an ancient, wizened man in a marketplace, thought of what it must be to grow old, and from that day Antonia changed.
Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.

Slowly, the addiction faded, and with every passing day, she thought more and more about her encounter with the old man. He had shown her the expanse of what she would miss if she continued to use her destructive power, and all the good deeds she could do even without it. Despite this, she could not fathom what she could achieve without power, having used it for every little thing throughout her life — she could barely wash her dirty dishes on her own.

But she took up the task, slowing ebbing away from the want to use to magic that dwelled inside her. She learned to live without it. True, it was hard and her hand quickly grew calloused, but she was no longer killing herself with each chore and task she performed. Antonia grew to like this new life, and as the want to perform magic left her, her beauty grew. For the magic wasn't only draining her life, it was draining her beauty too.

Prompt #3For this prompt, I am not going to give you directions. All I'm giving you is a poem, Caged Bird, by Maya Angelou. Just read this poem and write whatever comes to your mind afterwards. Think about your emotions, the world around you, and how you're feeling as you write. There is no right or wrong. It can be a poem, story, prose, or even a letter. It doesn't even have to do with the poem Caged Bird. It's all completely, 100% up to you! On your marks, get set, write!
Reducio
Caged Bird
By Maya Angelou
A free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wing
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.
But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.
The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn
and he names the sky his own
But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.
The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

Flying. Oh, how I longed to fly again.
The freedom, the air, the breeze.
I flit, I flutter my wings;
caught, forever, until the end of time.
The despair!
The horror!
Oh, how I longed to be free again,
even if it was only for a moment,
To feel the freedom of the air again;
I beg you, let me be free,
do not take captive my kind,
for if you were caged,
you would understand.
But to save you the horror, I plead:
"Let me free! Let me free!"
The freedom, the air, the breeze.
I flit, I flutter my wings;
caught, forever, until the end of time.
The despair!
The horror!
Oh, how I longed to be free again,
even if it was only for a moment,
To feel the freedom of the air again;
I beg you, let me be free,
do not take captive my kind,
for if you were caged,
you would understand.
But to save you the horror, I plead:

Wow, that was amazing, @Bailey Glade! I especially liked, "even if it was only for a moment," and "for if you were caged/you would understand." Fantastic job!
