Elena Jangleton -- Lamik Fillestar Valentines

Lamik took a few moments to remember the night of the mosp attack again. It was certainly not a pleasant time, and while he couldn't refute the fact that he had tried to fight them to the best of his ability, he didn't really feel that it made him all that heroic. "It's not like I was the only one..." He said quietly. "A ton of people helped. Heck, you said it yourself- you were one of them." The boy then grabbed a dry biscuit from the table and bit into it. "It's not like we could have left all that easily anyway, what with the danger of being stung."

He quickly put the rest of the biscuit in his mouth and leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table and resting his chin on his closed fists. "But I digress." Lamik quickly patted himself on the back for knowing the definition of the word. "I'll take tonight as that second attempt gladly." The Gryffindor looked at her eyes silently, thinking of what to say next. "Tell me about yourself- I don't really think I know all that much." There was one question that he was working himself up to, though it was another thing that he was only half aware of.

He brought up a few fair points about that night but Elena wasn't about to let Lamik exclude himself from that group of people who had taken it upon themselves to rid Hogwarts of those winged demons. She still didn't know where the mosps had come from though if you asked her, Elena reckoned that was a good thing and she had no interest in finding out anytime soon. His next question caused her to sit up a bit straighter following Lamik's actions and snagging one biscuit she could preoccupy herself with for the time being. In truth, the Gryffindor didn't think there was anything too remotely interesting about her that would stand out to anyone. She wasn't some uptight snobby pureblood with a army of Galleons and she didn't have any otherwordly abilites that people tended to take notice of. She was just your average, everyday witch and in a sense, Elena liked that. It put her out of the limelight, off to the side but sometimes, that worked against her. Nevertheless, it was better than having everyone's eyes on you every passing second of the day.

Right, he wanted to know about her.

She was surprsied honestly how little they knew about each other given how long they'd been friends. They needed to fix that, Elena supposed and tonight was the perfect opputurnity if she could get over the feeling of utmost nervousness that was taking over her body. Where did you even start? "Well.." Elena started taking a slow bite of her own cookie chewing on it for a slow while as if deep in thought. Right, she would start there, it seemed like a good starting point. "I'm just your average Londoner, wizard-born, nothing too terribly great. Got a nice little family estate out in West Sussex." It was a nice little area, none of the hustle and bustle of the city life, surrounded by trees and natures, the Jangleton Cottage was truly a bubble of serenity and peace or at least it was from the outside. As for the people who lived within it, the brunette held very different opinions though that was a story for another time. They didn't need to get into the dark, grubby, details of all that right now.

"You should come by sometimes maybe during the summer, my parents love to have visitors over." It just slipped out of her mouth, Elena didn't know where it had came from but it was out there now lingering in the air. Truth be told, she didn't know how her family would react to it. Now that she thought about it, it wasn't such a terrible idea, no, they wouldn't dare risk reveal their dirty laundry and true colors in front of newcomers though that hadn't been the reason she had brought the topic up in the first place but it was a nice little analysis the third year had made just now. She decided to reverse the roles now springing the question back onto Lamik. "This can't be one-sided though, that's just unfair." She said grinning a bit. "How about you? What's your life like?" If anything, Elena would wager it was far better than her own battles she was currently fighting. The Gryffindor instantly forced those thoughts out of her mind reminding herself today was supposed to be a happy day. A day to spend with someone that..well, they weren't at that stage yet. Still, she had to put on a good display and not look like she was having a nightmare.

It wasn't an offer that Lamik had really expected to receive. Certainly not today, certainly not now. That being said, it wasn't one that he was opposed to either. "Sure!" He said brightly. "Maybe I could come with you straight from Kings Cross? My parents could pick me up from your house- I'll have to send them a letter asking for permission first, of course, but I'm sure they won't mind." He suddenly stopped talking, only now realizing that maybe Elena didn't mean that he could come over the day they left Hogwarts. "Assuming that's a good time for you, of course. If not, we can find another day."

Lamik certainly hoped that she was ok with that specific day, since the more he thought about it the better the idea seemed. He lived far away from London, and from what he knew about Britain he was pretty sure that Elena lived nearer to his hometown. It would definitely be easier for his parents if they didn't have to drive all the way... "I'm from Rustington, so we might live pretty close to each other. Both my parents are muggles- I'm not aware of any other wizard in our family. I can't exactly say that anything special has happened in my life, besides finding out about the wizarding world, though that's not all that special for you."

She hadn't expected him to agree so quickly out of the blue just like that so Elena was a bit taken aback when he agreed on the spot. She had expected that perhaps he would give it some thought or perhaps let the comment linger in the air but the fact he was already on board from day one seemed like a dream come true in her books. Elena wasn't complainiing though as she couldn't stop the smile that only seemed to grow bigger from creeping onto her face. This was good, things were actually going how she had planned it and if the brunette knew her mother by now, while she wasn't exactly the greatest role model in the world, Elena trusted her mother enough to know that she would behaver herself around guests and not stain the family name. She couldn't afford to mess up, not around Lamik at least. The embarassment that would follow would be unfathomable but she didn't foresee any obstacles waving a hand as if dismissing any worries he might have had about it being an appropiate day for her.

Sure, it was a bit sudden but they still had enough notice that the Gryffindor could pen a letter home and she was sure Darren was going to bombard her with all sorts of question at the mere fact that Elena Jangleton was having a boy over. Well, as long as he didn't pick up any of her brother's foolish and rather reckless way of doing things, Elena reckoned they'd be alright. "I don't see an issue with that. King's Cross is perfect, we don't have anything going on so assuming it's good with your folks, I reckon my parents would be more than happy to host someone." It had been a while since they had any visitors at the Jangleton estate, well aside from the various Ministry people that her dad kept on his dime but she didn't count them as real guests. They wer just in it for the influence and power that came with being someone like her father, this was a genuine invitation that Lamik had accepted and there was a part of her that was secretly happy. She was happy in the fact she wouldn't have to spend the majority of her summer in that cooped up mansion with nothing more than a owl for company.

No offense to Flutters though, the bird could certainly be entertaining. "Rusington, huh? That's not too far from us, I think I've made a few trips down there when I was a kid, nice little place." Elena wagered she could probably make the trip to Rusington from West Sussex in a day given enough time as she chomped down on one of the remaining biscuts glancing around at the other couples for a moment before refocusing on their converstation. She didn't know how they had gotten here but suddenly, Lamik was going to be coming home with Elena and in a sense, the girl thought that wasn't such a bad thing. "You'll have fun." She added mentally drawing a mindmap of the family estate in her head."It's quite the big place so I reckon we'll stay busy. If you run into my brother though, steer clear. He has this unforunate skill of trying to convince you into doing rather dumb things convinced it's the most genius thing in the world."

She was surprised he hadn't been kicked out at this rate, how he had ever gotten a job at the Ministry was beyond her but she supposed he was doing something right at least. Somtething, she still wasn't sure what that particular skill was.

"It's a deal then." Lamik smiled. He had only visited the home of one of his other friends from Hogwarts in the past: Jake Moris. This would be a relatively new experience. It would also be one that Lamik was going to be thinking about rather frequently until the day of. This was a lot more exciting than Jake's birthday, for some reason. It's probably because she lives nearby, so we'll be able to meet more easily than me and Jake. He reasoned.

"Rustington is fine, I guess. Not much do though. There is a big rock on display though. I hear it has something to do with the ice age, but it is just a big rock." The Gryffindor grimaced momentarily and then smiled again. "Maybe one day you'll come over to my house and then I'll take you to see the big rock! It's very boring, it'll be great."

Lamik wondered what Elena meant by "big". Did she live in a mansion? Was her family rich? And what kinds of things did her brother try to get people to do? Well, I'll have to meet him now... Brushing the thought away for the moment, he asked: "What kinds of things are there to do there?"

It was settled then. Lamik Fillestar would be visiting her over the summer break and Elena could barely hide her excitement evidenced by the grin that spread from ear to ear. She didn't know why she felt so happy, it was just perfect in a sense. She made a mental note to send an owl tonight at the very latest, sure, they still had some time before the summer break swung around but Elena firmly belived in the concept of "the earlier, the better." This little Valentine outing had certainly taken a pleasant turn, the third year thought to herself as Lamik of all things begin to talk about some huge rock.

She wasn't aware of any famous geographical structures near and around the Sussex area, espeically one that contained an oversized rock, sure, they had Stonehenge but that was a good while away from where Elena and Lamik lived as she let out a thoughtful hum. "We could make it not boring." Elena said, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. Boring and Gryffindor did not go into the same sentence and if it was, they would have to make a way to fix that problem. "You know how the ceiling in the Great Hall is enchanted to reflect the weather outside?" Now that she thought of it, Elena had never really paid attention to it that much but it was just a thing that was so normal that you barely remembered it. At night, however, it could be quite an beautiful sight with the swirling starts and moonlight and sometimes she had to remind itself that it was an illusion and not the real thing but it had proposed an idea in her head.

"If we ever go, maybe we can climb to the top of the rock and stargaze or something!" The Gryffindor usually wasn't big on the whole Astronomy thing but in her opinion, it could make for some nice scenery. She made sure to read up on what big rock Lamik was talking about. The way he went on about it, she was sure it had to be in some history books or something. Elena took a moment to fully contmplate how to answer his inquiry. She didn't exactly what sort of familal setting Lamik came from but Elena was in a sense blessed to have come from a relatively high-class society. "Well, the place's quite big.We have a vineyard and a pasture and.." She stopped deciding it would be better to give Lamik an visual explanation. "Here, look." This way, Lamik could at least have a clear understanding. Reaching into her robes, the girl managed to produce a blank sheet of parchemt that looked relatively boring.

That wasn't the case for long however.
The sound of quill scratching against parchment soon filled their ears as the brunette began to sketch out a drawing that in her opinon turned out surprisngly better than she had antipated in the first place."That's the family motto up there, nothing is impossible, everything is possible.." The ink shapes and forms that she had drawn resembled what looked like a rough sketch of an mansion and the surrounding grounds as she pushed it across for Lamik to see. "It used to be a old castle or something, I heard but it's home now." A home that was meant to house an army and was entirely too big for their little family but it wasn't just family that made up the humble abode of the Jangletons. Clients, servants, visitors, you would think they were some high and fancy pureblooded group or something even thought that wasn't true. It was a fact that hurt her father so he'd brought the place to satisfy his insulted ego.

"The moat and drawbridge aren't really used anymore but the rest of the place we can explore to our heart's content." It wasn't no Hogwarts, it never could be in Elena's opinion but it certainly wasn't the worst thing either. She just hoped Lamik wouldn't be too overwhelmed by all of this coming to the realization quite suddenly that maybe she had rambled on a bit more than she had expected. "Sorry, I've just never had anyone visit me before. I'm just really excited, hope you don't mind."

Unfortunately, Elena would be wrong. "Oh nonono, it's not that big." Lamik quickly said, realizing that he may have misled her. "It really is just a boring rock. About..." He positioned his hand so that it was at about the height of his head. "...that tall? I don't know, I'm not good with estimates." Lamik thought silently for a bit. "Stargazing does sound fun though. I'm sure we could find some open field, or worst case scenario a tall enough tree to climb." This evening that they were planning was sounding more and more like a second date by the minute, though as long as the words didn't leave anyone's lips, the fact could be ignored.

While Lamik didn't have the extra-wide grin on his face that Elena did, he certainly did seem happy. Then again, he usually seemed at least somewhat happy, so maybe it wasn't as obvious as it could have been. Regardless, any sign of joy on his face turned into signs of awe as soon as Elena's drawing started taking form. "What in the-" He cut himself short as he studied the drawing, his mouth hanging slightly open. "This is incredible." He briefly wondered where the entrance was if the drawbridge wasn't used anymore, but that could be left for once he actually arrived.

Okay, not the rock she was imagining in her head as Lamik attempted to give an idea of the size but it wasn't an off-putter. It would take a whole lot more than a silly little rock to put any damper in their plans, stargazing could be done with or without that added factor. It was sounding more and more like they had thought this out to the last detail but really, all of this had sprang up last minute. The brunette had no idea that when she had set off for this Valentine's outing that number one, her mystery date would turn out to be Lamik Fillestar and that number two, they were already well on their way to making secondary arrangments though if you asked Elena, she was not at all against it, a part of her was actually happy with how this had turned out glad she had taken a risk and found herself in the best situation possible if you asked her.

The girl gauged Lamik's reaction to the drawing as he took in the structure that made up the Jangleton estate, she was sure she had scribbled in all the important details putting some of her artisic talent to the task and the reaction was always the same. Lamik was no different, people always were taken aback by how lucky one wizarding family would have to be to come by such a castle but really, it was a stroke of luck on their part. The brunette hadn't even been born then, that was how far this little wonder that she called home dated back and despite the fact it was nestled away some ways away from other people, you could certainly settle in quite comfortably. "Thanks, you'll get to see it in person this summer." Elena replied pushing the drawing towards him indicating for him to keep it, perhaps he could lament over it until the time came. They were still quite some ways away until term concluded but the earlier she let her parents know, the better.

Speaking of which, there was a rather obvious silence as the girl cast a look around them noting that most of the hustle and bustle died down as most of the couples who had been here had left leaving deserted seats and house elves to pick up any litter with only a few students hanging back perhaps to exchange some last-minute words. "I think we should get going. " Elena nodded glancing down to see if any remaining snacks were left over from their rather productive converstation in her opinion twirling the stem of the rose Lamik had slid in so that it looped around her finger. A souvneir if anything, a reminder of what had helped to spark their curious little endeavor that was yet to happen. "I'll send an owl home and get things sorted. Thanks for tagging along, Lamik." The girl would comment happily as she clambered to her feet as the last of the students departed the tower leaving just the two of them. "Thanks for the rose by the way, think I'll keep it." She said pointing to it, the reason for that was something only Elena knew as she gave the boy a wave before turning tail and her figure carved a way to the exit, a jovial expression on her face perhaps more than usual.
