Jenny looked away. She plopped back down, her back straight, her chin up. She looked out the window. The sweets she bought were scattered all over the floor. Now that she thought about... half bloods weren't terrible unless they were jerks or annoying. Her mother stated that if Jenny had to, she may befriend a half blood. But did she want to be friends with Rhea?

Lonely. Really. She just went right out with lonely. This girl has no social skills.

"I'm not lonely! I have plenty of pure blood kids who want to be my friend" Because I'm popular. Everyone just doesn't want to be in the way. Just the way my mother likes it. Let others know who is in charge.
"Really? You know nothing. At all. Try watching your grandfather die. While holding on to his hand, telling him he shouldn't have gone to those filthy Muggles. And I am not lonely."

She picked up a chocolate frog from the ground. She wanted to throw it out the window. She tossed it to the side. She pulled out her violin. "If you'll excuse me, Ill stick to my original plan of practicing my violin." She glared at Rhea before playing some soft music.

"All I have to do is go through the wall, right?"

Eleanor asked the teenager beside her who was currently re-checking that she didn't forget anything. She had already told Sil she checked, double checked and triple-checked the night before that she had everything she needed but the teen wasn't so convinced. It was only just in case, she would say. The blonde perked up from her check-up at the question and nodded "Yep. It doesn't look the safest but it always does the trick. Nobody would suspect it to be an entrance to another train station" Silvia's mother let out a grunt, crossing her arms. Despite having a witch daughter already, it still felt very strange to her, things of the magic world. The thought of being her daughter going away for a whole year didn't fit well with her but she got used to it, even slightly. Silvia was in her fifth year now and Eleanor was going to have her first and she felt a bit of sadness and worry for her two babies. She knew that Silvia was going to take good care of her sister at school, she had nothing to worry about.

Passerby would notice that Eleanor was the odd one out in this group of people. The Locklears all shared the same bright blue eyes and slightly curly blonde hair and fair skin. Their recent addition on the other hand, has chocolate brown skin filled with an insane amount of freckles, insanely narrowed eyes and a mess of dark brown hair with lighter tips that was currently in a ponytail. She was wearing a green T-shirt underneath her sleeveless denim jacket followed by some jeans and red sneakers. Dangling on her neck was a very special golden locket that held the compass that had belonged to her father. Her glasses were slightly tilted, something the girl didn't seem to notice at all and had one hand on her trunk and the other holding her maps to her chest. Despite her huge amount of excitement, the self-declared explorer felt nervousness gnawing at her stomach. She had heard a lot about Hogwarts from Sil and now, she was going to see the place for herself and actually attend there! Maybe she could explore every single area and map it out. Someone had probably done it before but there is no telling what things were left undiscovered.

"Come on Sil, let's go! The train might leave soon!" The girl yelled over her shoulder as she ran ahead, the wall being her target only for her to stop and look at the people that had been her family for three years now and ran over to give them a hug, even though it was hard, considering her hands weren't long enough for six people

"I'll miss you guys so much!"
"Take care kiddo"
"Send lots and lots of letters!"
"Be good and don't try anything dangerous!"

It took a while for them to say their goodbyes, Mia had burst into tears and Ralph took his time patting the two sister's heads. That had been a few minutes ago and now..

"I'm going to a compartment with the rest of the fifth years, okay Leny?"
"Yeah"
"Try to find one with other people, I bet you'll make lots of friends. I'll be here if you need me"
"Gotcha, Sil"

The older Locklear could see that Leny was eager to go and probably map the whole train out so she reached down to her pockets and gave the brunette a bag of money with a grin, "Get yourself some snacks, explorer. Even you need to eat" Silvia winked at her sister, who chuckled and put the bag on her cart "Thanks Sil, you're a total sweetheart" They both laughed at the pun "Don't mention it! I'll be here if you need me" The sisters then hugged each other before Elena left, heading to one of the compartments.

It had taken while since as far as she saw, the compartments were filled to the brim. Mapping this place wouldn't be easy at all. The girl sighed as she pushed the cart forward and glanced around. She had been in trains before, courtesy of travelling with Daddo. She wondered how he was doing and how excited he would be when she told him of his adventures. Whenever she found him, that is. A rather soothing sound was distinct from the chatter and bustle from the other compartments, the sound of music. One to always be curious, Elena followed the sound to find herself in a compartment with two girls with a few things she immediately noticed; there was some kind of tension between them, sweets were scattered across the floor and that the sound came from a rather pretty girl's violin. Explorers were perceptive and she was no different. Her look of focus switched to a friendlier one as she gave them both a wave and a grin

"Heya! I couldn't help but be attracted by the sweet sound of music!" She chuckled at her own pun before turning to the violin girl "You're really good! I can't really play any instruments but I used to play the piano when I was younger but I forgot!" The brunette then stopped herself from rambling anymore and scratched her freckle-filled cheek with her free hand before adjusting her glasses "Oh right, I didn't introduce myself, heh. Name's Elena Locklear, and you two are?"

"My mother died," Rhea offered. It wasn't the same as watching your grandfather (whom had clearly been very close to Jennifer) lose his life in front of you, but it was something. "I grew up with my father. We don't... it isn't..." she struggled to find the words. "We don't particularly enjoy each other's company, I suppose. So, I think I have an idea of what it's like."

Jennifer was actually quite good at her instrument. The sounds of the violin strings rung out through the compartment as she played, clear and elegant. Perhaps it was something she dedicated considerable time to, something she was genuinely passionate about. "You're quite good," Rhea told her. As if Jennifer didn't already know.

The door opened. A third person, another first year with a face covered in freckles, had entered the compartment, as one does. She didn't seem too bad. Friendlier than Jennifer, certainly, but possibly a handful. Rhea forced a smile and nodded along with her - Elena's - words.

So, they had a third companion now. Perhaps someone to ease the tension?

Ideally, the two of them would make friends and go leave Rhea alone. That would be lovely. An entire train ride home, all alone, to stare out the window and contemplate what life at Hogwarts would bring. Alone. That was the key word there.

Of course, Rhea was not so lucky. So this would be interesting.

Kayden grabbed his luggage and hauled it up onto the train. he smiled as his parents waved goodbye to him, and his little sister chased the train down, waving until she ran out of breath. The train lurched as it reached the main track, and Kayden almost lost his footing. He needed a place to sit.
Looking around, he realized he had never felt so intimidated in the choice of seating in his life.

Many tables were full of people sitting merrily, eating chocolate frogs, talking Quidditch. He even saw a couple kissing in the corner. Walking across, he entered a different compartment, where, once again, seating was full. Except for one table, seating three girls.

In his muggle school, Kayden had never had much trouble talking to girls, so he walked over. They looked a sad lot, but he was determined to change that.
He stuck out his hand to the girl sitting closest to him. A nametag of her luggage read Jennifer King.
"Nice to meet you! I'm Kayden Lind from England. May I sit down?"

As he looked upon their somber faces, a thought struck him. Maybe he wasn't welcome at this table...

Jenny looked up and saw a girl come in. "Thanks, and sure. I'm Jennifer King." She glanced at Rhea. Oh boy. Rhea also lost a family member. "That doesn't make us friends, Rhea." Jenny looked at her violin before putting it away. She sat, looking out the window. She wondered the blood status of Eleanor, but she didn't ask.

Another student came in, a boy this time. He was cute, in Jenny's opinion. He walked over to her, the one with the empty seat next to her. "Hm? Oh! Yes, of course. I'm Jennifer King, nice to meet you." She smoothed over. Finally, addressing both of te newcomers, she said: "I'm a pureblood. What about you?" She didn't mind half bloods, only mudbloods. She reached to scoop up the candies.

"I don't want these." She glanced at Rhea to see her reaction. She didn't offer them to her, but to the others. "Your from England? Me too!" Jenny was pleased. She looked out the window once more. Her plan to sit alone had gone out window. The compartment was now full with people. She watched the trees zoom by. She sighed. Things were already wrong. Nothing was going according to plan.

He sat down. Soon it was a very crowded seating area. The girl who shook his hand was quite beautiful, and Kayden found it hard to take his eyes off her. She then asked him what blood type he was.
Was she one of those people obsessed with hating half-bloods?
"Half-Blood."
There seemed to be a weird tension between Jennifer and this Rhea girl. Kayden saw it as his sole duty to make sure that this tension was resolved. The trolley witch came by, cackling about the sweets she was offering.

Kayden pulled out a galleon, and bought four chocolate frogs, saving some for later. He gave one to Jennifer with a smile, then realized how awkward of a gesture this was. He then proceeded to hand one to everyone else and began munching on his own.
He felt really flushed. The Jennifer girl mentioned that she was from England as well. It was nice to have something in common with a fellow wizard.

The train thundered on down the track, and Kayden slowly embraced the thick tension that hung over the group.
All the while he tried to keep his eyes off Jennifer.

"Nice to meet cha, Princess! And you too, Rhea right?"

Elena's smile was still as friendly as ever as she coined Jennifer with her new nickname. It was her last name, King, that gave her that idea.
The tension that hung in the air hadn't quite dissolved despite her attempts but Elena wasn't one to give up easily! Before she could thing of another joke, they had a newcomer; a boy that introduced himself as Kayden that seemed suddenly entranced with Jennifer, something that the brunette didn't really mind. Since the boy had taken a seat next to the pretty girl, she took the spot next to Rhea, giving the girl another smile and a wave. Hopefully that would calm down whatever that was going on.

At the mention of blood status, she perked up. Sil had told her about them when they went shopping through Diagon Alley for her supplies. It was cool to meet both purebloods and half-bloods in her opinion. She wondered how it was to have wizards for parents. "Oh, I'm a juggle-born! I mean, muggle-born? That's the name, right? It's such a weird and funny name to give to people, ya know? I mean, I can't say it without not laughing!" She giggled as she explained "Oh, I'm from England too! But I've travelled to all sorts of places! Any of you ever been to Brazil? It's super cool over there! Once, my best friend Bertie tried to make me climb the Christ Redeemer statue in Rio but I couldn't 'cause before I could start, some tourists started yelling and my dad had to pull me out! The view was super cool though!" The girl adjusted her glasses once more, smiling at the memories. Those were simpler times, back when her worries were to complete a map she had challenged herself to do.

At the offer of the candies, she happily took them, although she did struggle a bit with the chocolate frog, which never stopped moving and hopping around her, eventually landing on her head. That only made her laugh "I guess you could say it's feeling jumpy that we're eating it's buddies!" She laughed at her own pun. If they weren't going to fill the silence then it was her job to lighten up the mood!

"I want them," said Rhea, referring to the candies. She was not particularly hungry, but they were hers. It was honestly a bit irritating that Jennifer continued to try to get on her nerves. Couldn't she see that Rhea was trying extremely hard to soften her up? Why couldn't Jennifer make things easier for her? But then it didn't matter because the trolley witch returned, and the boy Kayden ordered a chocolate frog for the future Slytherin, and then seemed to realize it was a bit rude not to get one for everyone else. Rhea took that time to finally introduce herself.

"I'm Rhea," she said. "Though you may know that from Jennifer's... from what she said earlier."

Speaking of Jennifer, Kayden seemed painfully infatuated with the proud pureblood. She could not blame him - Jennifer was undeniably beautiful, as far as humans went - but romantic attraction was not something Rhea had ever experienced. Humans were gross. Their breath was bad and their skin was flaky and oily or dry and they each had their own, equally disgusting scents that filled her nose constantly. Just thinking about it made her stomach turn.

The feeling of claustrophobia increased when Elena took it upon herself to sit directly next to Rhea. The freckled girl waved with a smile, a sweet gesture, but Rhea could not appreciate it. Why? Does she not see I'm struggling here? Rhea forced a smile, which became a grimace the moment she looked away to face the open window. Fresh air. An open landscape. The compartment was not going to shrink and crush her.

Then Elena - poor, clueless Elena - revealed that she was a muggle-born. Rhea snapped to look at Jennifer. As Elena continued to excitedly recollect her adventures from Brazil, Jennifer was surely getting closer and closer to a breaking point. Rhea felt a sudden need to protect this innocent bubbly little girl that continued to make bad puns.

"UH!" said Rhea. How could she do this? What was there to say that could redirect Jennifer's anger back towards her? "OoooOOOoooh, it looks like Jennifer likes Kayden!" she said, as mockingly as she could muster.

Muggle-born. She was sitting in a compartment with a mudblood. This mudblood was making TERRIBLE puns but Jenny found them amusing because they were so stupid. What would he mother think of her? Her mother would kick her out or ignore her if she found she spent this long with a mudblood being amused by her muddy puns. She cleared her throat and just chose to... glare at the girl before turning away. The best she could do for now. The girl kept on about her dumb adventures and stupid actions... for a dare. Ugh.

Jenny couldn't help but blush when Kayde smiled at her. She opened her mouth to speak to him, but Rhea interrupted. Jenny spun towards her, her face red with embarrassment and anger. "You mind your own business, You!" She turned to Kayden. "I am terribly sorry- please don't listen to her" She really wanted to throw a chocolate frog at Rhea but not in front of Kayden. Instead she just glared at her. What would become of this?

She sighed and munched on the chocolate frog. She looked at the card. It was something her father enjoyed, collecting the cards. He said she should too, give herself a little hobby besides playing violin.

For the first time in a long time, he felt extremely uncomfortable around a group of people. Jennifer was sending hateful glances towards the muggle-born, and while this made him uncomfortable, he decided to side up with Eleanor, despite his attraction to Jennifer.
He felt as if he and Eleanor had the same goal.
Make sure that Rhea and Jennifer didn't kill each other. And Kayden had a side mission of course.
Get Jennifer to like him. The train thundered on down the tracks and the beautiful mountainside continued to sprawl outside the window.

Rhea began to speak to Kayden and Jennifer cut her off.
Great, they hate each other even more now, and it's all because I had to sit my butt down at a table where everyone is at each other's throats.

"Look everyone, let's all settle down a bit, there's no reason that we all need to... yell."
He shot a sweeping glance at Jennifer, who looked back at him.
Kayden quickly looked away.
"Guys we're all first years. We need to stick together. Blood doesn't matter, we are all on the same playing field now. So just relax, and let's all chill out. Thank you."
