The duellists were met with more success for their efforts this round, at least overall. It almost seemed a shame that the powerful jet of flames that emerged from Lydia's wand dissipated into nothing at the end of the platform, though Alec only barely managed to dodge the spell and surely felt the blazing heat. Then again, how much of a surprise even was it that a Hogwarts student could cast an impressive Fire-Making Spell? It seemed fate had decided there was already enough burning happening within the school, both Lydia's flames missing Alec and Alec's flames missing Amadea. Two rounds in a row of fire... Alec seemed pretty set on continuing the tradition of burning Hufflepuffs.

Amadea and AJ went with a less fiery approach, choosing Mimblewimble and Obscuro respectively. Bridget was a fan of both spells, and felt the excitement when they both hit their mark. That was sure to shake things up; AJ would feel his tongue curl up inside his mouth, refusing to cooperate with any incantations for the time being, and Amadea's vision would be obscured by a swatch of black fabric. Duelling without visual input didn't work too well, so the fourth year would need to take the time to remedy that.

Things were heating up, and not just because of the fire being thrown around. With a member on each team temporarily occupied by spell effects, it would be up to their teammates to stand their ground.

The moment she pronounced the incantation, Lydia knew the spell had come out particularly well; the powerful flames quickly moved towards Alec, and the Hufflepuff girl could already feel the happiness of finally having hit her target, when the Gryffindor boy managed to avoid the attack.

The same thing had happened in the last duel that she had; Pericles had kept moving away at the last second, all of Lydia's spells resulting into nothing. She really hoped that in this duel that would not happen again. Moving her eyes away from Alec, Lydia saw Amadea avoid the boy's attack, only to be hit by AJ's spell as a black blindfold wrapped around her eyes making her unable to see anything.

That wasn't good, Amadea would have had a hard time avoiding any attack that the other team would have directed towards her; at least AJ got hit by the Tongue-Tying spell and could not talk for the time being.

Lydia took a deep breath, before she concentrated once again, raising her wand to cast her next spell.

𝓐madea felt a smile flash across her face. Despite the fact that they were in the middle of a duel, Amadea was glad that she and her opponents could still be friendly. She had witnessed her fair share of duels in the past where the teams had not been so civil; she was glad that it seemed that everyone was in good spirits.

Of course, as much as she appreciated AJ's kind words, she still had the ultimate goal in mind: to win the duel. So, she steadied herself again and cast, "Mimblewimble!" The spell shot off toward the Gryffindor and Amadea was pleased to see that it hit its mark. Unfortunately, she seemed to be too lost in her head to realize a spell was flying toward her and suddenly the world collapsed into darkness. It was a familiar feeling; it seemed that in every duel Amadea would be blindfolded. "Good aim," she said. Quieter, to Lydia, she whispered, "You got this!" With her vision gone, Amadea was going to have to depend on her teammate even more this round.

At last it seemed the Duelists were hitting their stride and hitting their marks, mostly. It would seem they would all remain uninjured even at the end of this volley. Though AJ was quite proud he'd managed to blindfold their forth year opponent.

She had hit him as well of course. He hadn't quite heard the incantation properly, but he was sure it had done something. He opened his mouth to compliment her skills only for the words "Yooblegar smubbins wazzlegorp." To emerge from his mouth, certainly far from his most refined and coherent sentence.

This was going to make casting a mite trickier.

Casting the spells hadn't gone terribly, no certainly not. Yes, Alec's spell had aimed for the fourth year, and yes, it would've gone to plan if she wasn't so fast every time he tried, but it was likely the same irritation for the other team with him. Alec couldn't figure out whether casting the fire-making spell as of yet was a mistake it seemed to be going well so far. But he did have the smallest of worries it'd hit someone, or something he didn't mean to use it on. It wasn't unreasonable per se, but it wasn't a reasonable excuse either.

Everybody's spells had missed other than the fourth year's spell and his teammate's. The fourth year in other words was now blindfolded, hopefully giving them more of an advantage this time around. Though as Alec turned his team mate to congratulate him, he finally realized the spell cast on his teammate. Alec's reaction may have not been the best. Instead of words of encouragement, you could hear a small laugh pass through the boy's lips as he quickly covered his mouth to stop.

The garbled words were silly, one thing Alec had to agree. Once he was over the incident of this little laugh, but feeling bad, he mouthed a "Sorry" to his team mate before getting back on track. Readying himself to duell once more.

They say third time's the charm, and for Alec, that was indeed the case. He'd cast the same spell at the same target three times in a row now, and it finally paid off, his Incendio hitting Amadea. The fourth year hardly had a fair chance of dodging with the the blindfold blocking her vision, but luckily for her, once she removed the fabric she would not find her clothes on fire. The jet of flames had likely been painful, and yet the fact remained that it could have been worse.

After Lydia's impressive spell last round, Bridget had anticipated more of the same from the second year and was hoping one of her casts would find its mark. Something had gone terribly wrong, though, and instead of the green light of her spell blinding Alec, the sparks came out of the wrong end of her wand, leaving spots in her vision. Bridget was entirely impartial in this match, though that didn't mean she couldn't feel bad for the players. She was, unfortunately, all too familiar with disastrously failed spells, and while there were definitely worse spells to have blow up in your face, it was still a setback, not to mention a possible blow to Lydia's confidence.

Meanwhile, AJ was on his toes, prepared to dodge if anything came his way. Nothing did. There really wasn't anything else for him to do, and in the span of time that passed, he would regain control over his tongue. He could cast again, as could Amadea. Things were certainly getting exciting.

"Bleh...bababa, phew..." AJ would breathe a quick sigh of relief as his tongue was finally released from the wily grasp of that accursed spell. Now he could get back to business.

He shot a glance at his chuckling teammate. "Ut neevur guts unneh luss weerd." He laughs, before returning his attention to the Badgers and readying his wand. "Uf ye'd leek meh teh sto' talken yeh can jus' see." He assured them with a playful grin.

Alec had finally hit her, though the aftermath of it left Alec feeling bad, and actually have a human conscience he'd made a hit, nonetheless. Surely not in a fair fashion, no.. But she was a fourth year she had experience working with spells in her fair share of Hogwarts incidents, Alec didn't. In fact, he was fond of the idea of avoiding getting involved at all costs. But that's not lead to this, was it? He'd made his fair amount of stupid actions, they all had.

Alec would clear his throat after all the spells were cast, giving him a moment to clear the thoughts in his head. The only thing that had got hom to finally focus seconds later was the voice of his teammate's, with distinguishable words this time around. Alec's head shot back up from it's focused look on the older student turning his attention to his teammate with a small smile. "It's Hogwarts, no one should expect anything less." Alec said in reply. Whether the truth of that was good or bad was to be determined, Alec still hadn't figured it out. At the very least, there was no possibility of you ever being bored.

Readying himself and his wand, his gaze would go back to the other team an awkward, "Good luck" exchanged because he still wanted to keep things as positive as possible. He was now ready for the next round.

Feeling the pressure of the moment, Lydia nodded to Amadea -not thinking that, since she was blindfolded, she could not see her- and concentrated on Alec. She raised her wand and pronounced the incantation. The moment the spell left her lips, she realised that something had gone wrong, and as a confirmation of this she saw the sparks come out from the other end of her wand, making her see dark spots in front of her.

She tried rubbing her eyes, hoping that it would make things better, but to no use; the next round would have been a difficult one, and the young Hufflepuff could feel more pressure on herself. "I’m sorry," she softly muttered, the guilt of having her own spell backfire filling her; something like this had never happened to her before, she wasn't used to failing like that. She needed to do better, for Amadea and the rest of the Hufflepuff team.

The "Good luck" from Alec made her slightly smile, and she nodded in what she thought was his direction. "To you as well!" she added, and then she took a deep breath, and tried to concentrate on her next target as much as possible, even with all of those dark spots dancing in front of her eyes.

𝓣he darkness was starting to make Amadea feel quite contemplative; she never really thought about how much she appreciated her vision until it was stripped from her like this. It was also amazing to her how quickly her other senses attempted to make up for this new loss; her eyes were wide open trying to take in any sounds she could hear, either from Lydia or the Gryffindors and her wand felt even more sturdy in her hand. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could make up completely for her lack of sight and Amadea stumbled backward as she felt a blast of something hit her and a searing burn of pain. Ah, the all familiar element: fire.

Amadea felt as though her history with fire deserved it's own story arc: in the beginning she had been scarred (both literally and figuratively) from the flames. Over time, both her physical and mental scars faded. Now, Amadea was more used to being burned. The Hufflepuffs had even gone so far as to name their duelling team after fire's effects: the Blazing Badgers. While she was no longer terrified of fire, the sensation of being burned never became less painful or shocking every time it happened. Luckily, as she ripped off her blindfold finally, she was happy to find that the flames had not stuck around.

Blinking quickly, she sized up the scene. Lydia's spell seemed to have backfired on herself and the girl looked a little discouraged. Amadea flashed the brightest smile toward her teammate as she could. "You got this!" she said. Spells backfired all of the time and while it was unfortunate every time it happened, internalizing the mistake would only spell doom for the rest of the duel. She nodded toward the Gryffindors. "Good luck to you as well!"
