”Well, that sounds just lovely. I’m sure you miss them.” The words had escaped her, with a sad and also passionate tone, giving away her feelings about the whole family situation. She didn’t want to make Aaron uncomfortable and he seemed to be rather attentive. Ileen just loved to hear about other places and families, curious what it could have been like for her if she had been born in a different family, country or situation.
Truth to be told, she missed New Zealand a lot. And this boy with his cheerful and genuine nature brought that feeling back up.

She gave him a quick smile to disguise her outburst and shook her head to get rid of the memories that were pressing up. Thankfully, the topic was switching anyway. She easily could be an assistant to the Librarian by now since she had spent most of her time here, looking through stuff and studying healing and charms. So she knew the ways through this place as well as the back of her hand.

“No, I don’t think I could improve the gift. She will hopefully appreciate the thought. I don’t think she’s much into cats. Her family just has one that is blue. Because she turned it blue when she first developed magical talent…” Noticing that she was rambling, she would shut her mouth, slightly blushing. With the right book they would return to their table and collect their gifts.
Ileen once more glanced down at her poor disbaled cat. “Sorry, kitty. I just couldn’t do it any better.” She looked back up at Aaron and gave him a warm smile. “It was really nice to have some company, Aaron. I hope we will see each other again soon.” And she really meant it.

"Yeah, sometimes, but we video chat," Aaron said, when Ileen spoke of him missing his grandparents. In truth, he was not that close to his maternal grandparents, especially considering the physical distance between them. He imagined his mum missed them more than he did. He looked over at the Slytherin girl though, feeling like he had picked up on something in her voice. But she shot him a smile, which he returned to make her feel more comfortable. Aaron knew better than to ask for more private details of her, considering they were not very close friends, but he did want her to know if she needed to talk, he could listen. "You'll have to tell me more about New Zealand sometime, if you want."

The twelve-year-old boy left it at that, not pressing for the information as they searched the shelves for the duelling book. When they finally located it and Aaron asked about her wanting a cat book, Ileen said no. She went on to explain that the recipient of her cat origami wasn't a huge fan of felines, it just related to her first magic. That was a cool backstory behind it. "It's creative of you to have thought to do this cat, then," Aaron complimented, grinning as he offered the compliment.

He finally met her eye when she offered a warm smile, and he mirrored the gesture as they walked towards the librarian. "We'll definitely have to hang out again! Next time without the origami and bookmark," he joked. They handed in their gifts to Librarian Finley, then left the library and went their separate ways.
