A Dance with Danger
@Lea Hirsch
They'd really been at it so far, so much so that Valentine had almost entirely forgotten that he had come to her with questions. Truthfully, he didn't really have any, to begin with. He already knew the answers to many of the things which he asked, apart from only the most personal of responses which few often gave. His real purpose then? He'd hoped that he'd get to know her a little better, and more importantly, through some introductory dialogue, get her to reciprocate his own interest in the things she did.
That was how it had been up until the moment she pulled them back to reality, reminding him of his initial stated intention. Soaring in his thoughts mere seconds ago, Valentine came crashing down like a meteor, and the tales of his smile faded away. Was he wasting her time? Was she getting impatient with him? Maybe she was just too polite to say it to him directly. After all, Hufflepuffs, right?
"No. . ." he replied, his eyes never once betraying the way he suddenly felt, the shift of his aura hardly visible through his opaque gaze. It didn't show on his face as he offered his hand to his fellow First Year, the dejection within.
"You've answered brilliantly. I suppose I'll see you around, Lea Hirsch. Maybe I'll make the dueling team some day and we can hang out more."
