Mystical Creatures Club
Aaron was thankful Eirian had agreed to sharing her book, otherwise she would have been completely lost. Her knowledge of magical creatures was limited to what Eirian had told her, plus the few mentions made in her first few classes.
When Miranda sat down Aaron flashed her and her lizard a smile, filing both their names to memory. She was thankful when the boy named Cade suggested they do a round of icebreakers, otherwise she'd have had to individually ask people for their names. Her eye's lit up when he described his favourite creature.
"Makes you float? What's a Fizzing Whizzbee? Can you eat them? I want to float!" she thought excitedly, glancing at the number of the page Cade showed before flipping through Eirian's copy to scan the page.
The other boy introduced himself as Kazuo, before revealing his favourite creature. He even had two books, showing two illustrations of the beautiful red bird. Phoenix's were something she recognized, but she was delighted to hear they were real. She once again checked the page number, and flipped hurriedly to the page.
"Healing tears? That's wicked!" she whispered after scanning the page.
Eirian was next, and her favourite was one Aaron had heard of before. When Eirian had mentioned the club to her before, she had also listed off a few of the creatures she really liked to sweeten the deal. Nifflers were like living treasure detectors. Aaron immediately wanted to see one in action and test how determined they were to get their prize. She was willing to be niffler bait and sprint around evading them to test it out.
Miranda listed multiple creatures, two of which were familiar. Aaron wondered how centaurs and merfolk differed from their muggle descriptions. If they were intelligent creatures like Miranda said, maybe she could talk to them herself and find out. She turned to look in the direction of the lake, wondering if it was big enough to contain merfolk. It looked it.
There was a pause after Miranda, so Aaron smiled widely and held up a hand in greeting. "Hiya again! The name's Aaron and I'm a Slytherin. I promise to keep my cunningness in check" she said with a wink. Then she faltered, realizing a problem. "I, uh, don't have a favourite magical beastie. I'm new to think whole wizard business. Ummm…" She stared around for a moment, thinking back on everything she'd heard. "Those billywigs sound cool, I've never floated before. I just found out phoenixes cry healing tears, which is awesome…. OH" An idea popped into her head.
"I'd love to see a dragon! I lost my mind when I found out they were real. I was told it was frowned upon to ride one, but it doesn't seem impossible!" She grinned around the circle with a hopeful glint in her eye.
