Sapphire had looked over at Katie expectantly, as though she might be wondering if Katie had any pets. Katie had always wanted a beautiful snow white feline; however, her strict pure-bloods parents had given her a firm no.


Katie knew deep down that her parents were only saying this as an excuse. In reality, they just didn't like cats - plain and simple. After Katie had turned eight years old, she had stopped asking all togethe. She had simply realized it just wouldn't happen for her. Katie had silently viewed to purchase the cat she had always wanted when she got old enough to make her own decisions.

Katie decided that she could probably tell the truth on about this. I don't have a cat, but I REALLY want one. Katie said sadly, looking over at the beautiful felines that the older girls held. Katie wasn't a jealous or enjoys person by nature. It wasn't her style or personality. She did feel slightly sad that these girls got to have a cat while she didn't though.

Margo plucked a book off a nearby shelf with a smile. Her embarrassment was finally wearing off and she could focus on finding a birthday present or her dad. She looked down at the title of the book she'd chosen and shoved it back with a fearful huff. A Beginners Guide to Muggle Mechanics was not the right book for him. He was already obsessive-compulsive enough in the kitchen where they'd had to buy him more precious scales so he wouldn't fret about the exactness of the quantity of each ingredient. To be fair though, Margo did adore his Bakewell slabs. Oh, how she loved cake.

"Hey, do you guys have any ideas for fascinating books for intelligent intellectuals? Something more theoretical, perhaps? She asked her companions with a hum. That was when she caught sight of the first year's face.

She followed the girl's sad gaze to her cat and frowned. She must be sad because she wants a cat. Margo patted herself on the back for her perceptiveness. But what could she do about it..? Shoving a hand in her pocket, she fished around for the packet she'd put there just this morning. "Here." Margo offered the packet of cat treats to Katie. "Give him one of these and I swear he'll like you. You could even pick him up after,? He's a right softie after he's eaten."

Margo smiled. "So does Melanie also like to be up high? She asked Sapphire, her smile turning into a slight grimace. "'Cause Hades does and I hate heights. Had to get my brother to rescue him out of a tree just a few weeks after I got him, actually. You haven't had Melanie long, you said?

Thanks, Katie said to Margo, smiling as Katie gratefully accepted the cat treats and plucked a cat treat from the bag. Hades ears seemed to peek up slightly at hearing Katie opening his treat bag. Katie reached in, and gently pulled out a long, skinny cat treat in the shape of a mouse. Katie offered it to Hades, who had walked over to Katie as soon as he realized that she would be giving him a rear. Katie bubbled with pride inwardly. Katie lived cats and was thrilled that Hades seemed to be satisfied with her so far.

Katie gently presented the cat treat to Hades, who enthusiastically devoured the mouse shaped treat in two giant bites. Hades seemed to enjoy them even more than Margo had implied that he would, because he quietly purred while rubbing his face gently up against Katie's legs for a few moments after fully swallowing the treat. Then again, it was entirely possible that he did that every time someone gave him a treat. Katie enjoyed the vibrating purring demarcation against her legs while the other girls asked questions about each other's cats. Katie softly stroked the top of Hades head where there were some fur shaped wrinkles. Katie wondered if he was thinking about something profound, or if he was just wondering when his next meal was. Katie smiled down at Hades, please to be petting him.

Sorry for not responding sooner.

"AH, SORRY. I don't know any off the top of my head," the pale-haired girl replied to Margo's question about books. "The best I can think of on the spot is Magical Theory," she said. It was likely that Margo already had that one, however. It wasn't an uncommon book.

She listened quietly as the blond talked to Katie about how to "tame" Hades. She thought that was interesting. Also cool. Melanie, a lot of the time, would seem either judging or like an older sister. So still judging but in a different way. Speaking of Melanie, she padded over to Hades and poked the grey cat in the face, something that she had seen a pair of siblings do before. Once again, Melanie, the older sister struck.

While their cats interacted, both with each other and the brunette, Sapph (sort of) turned towards Margo. "Yes, Melanie does quite like heights. I do as well, so that's something that I can agree with her on. It's got to be a bit frustrating if your cat likes something you don't. Or the other way around too, I guess. And yeah, I just got Melanie earlier this summer. She hasn't been much trouble, though I swear she can be so sarcastic." She laughed dryly, though it also wasn't without humour - however much that statement was contradictory.

She then shifted her gaze towards the bookshelves, half-trying to find a book to help Margo. She spotted one or two titles that could maybe fit the description, but nothing that really stuck out to her... yet. Offhandedly, she threw out the question of, "What or who do you want this book for?" she asked. And then she directed another one towards Katie. "If you don't mind me asking, Katie, why aren't you able to get a cat?" She could come up with several reasons, but getting answers would either concrete them or completely shoot them down.

I’m so sorry for how long it’s been, guys

Margo smiled as Hades interacted with Katie. He nudged his head against her comforting hand and licked her fingers to see if she’d give him more treats. Perhaps it was something about Katie’s gentle touch, or maybe Hades was been really hungry that morning, but Margo has a sneaky feeling that he could actually sense the emotion in the girl and that was why he was being so friendly. He had tact, did her cat.

”He likes you.”Margo winked at Katie. She wasn’t blind. She knew her cat had brightened the girl’s day. And whilst she couldn’t exactly take credit, she could still try her best to do the same.

It was then that Melanie came into the equation. Margo watched nervously as Sapphire’s pet poked at Hades’ head. Whilst her little devil was good with people, he could be a bit of a loner when it came to other cats. But, as it turned out, Margo had no need to worry. Hades nudged at the fluff under Melanie’s chin and skittered away, stretching his paws out in front of him and inviting her to play with a flick of his ears.

It was official. Hades was far too good with the ladies.

”Hades is more mischievous than sarcastic.” Margo smiled at Sapph. She didn’t really understand how a cat could be sarcastic but then again, maybe that was the point. ”And thanks for the book recommendation but I think he’s probably read Magical Theory about a billion times. It’s for my dad, see? It’s his birthday in a few days and I’ve yet to find him a present. I was sort of hoping to find something over-the-top as well.” Margo winced before speaking again. ”Got to get him in a good mood before I show him the giant potion stain on the wall behind the toaster.”

SAPPHIRE LAUGHED SLIGHTLY AT THE INTERACTIONS OF THE CATS, BOTH WITH KATIE AND EACH OTHER. "Is it unusual for Hades to act in such a way?" she questioned. She wasn't very happy with how she'd phrased it, but she hoped she could make up for in tone. She'd tried to keep it sort of calm, just innocently questioning. She was speaking both for the interactions with Katie and Melanie when she said that, for she'd noticed a bit of nervousness in Margo's eyes when the blue-eyed feline had poked the other one. Hades had taken it well, although she wasn't sure what not taking it well would have looked like.

Melanie had turned towards Hades, seeming to favour interaction with her own kind over that with the humans at the moment. Insert cat interaction here because I never get to see them so I don't know how cats play.

"My cat can be a bit of an odd one," she said with a wry grin. "And yeah, I supposed he had. It's not an uncommon book." She winced at the mention of the stain. "That's gotta suck. You probably would be better off distracting him if you don't know another way to fix it." She glanced over the shelves, looking a bit to see if she could find any other books to suggest to the girl. She pointed to one, which said Magic and Technology - Why They Don't Work Together. Which I totally made up. "Has he read that one?" she questioned. The title looked interesting and she considered maybe taking it for herself.

Margo's eyes gleamed in happiness as she watched Hades and Melanie playing and chasing each other around the shop. She should really make sure her cat socialized with other felines more often. Not only were they adorable, but Hades needed some good influences so that his rebellious independence didn't drive Margo up the wall. Literally. How he'd ever gotten onto one of the sconces in the castle, she'd never know.

"Hades can judge people reeeeally quickly sometimes." Margo winced. "But usually he's cheeky and friendly like this. Melanie seems a lot smarter and more intuitive than he does. Hades just barrels into situations without knowing how to get out of them." Definitely not like a certain someone else she knew. Nooo. Who used their cat as a self-reflection, anyway? Margo was smart, thank you very much.

She shot a confused glance to Katie as Sapphire continued to speak. "Oh, you mean the kitchen? Nah, he won't really be mad. I've just got to make it easier to persuade him not to tell my Mam. She thinks I've got a bit chaotic mind and don't utilise my skills to their fullest." Margo then proceeded to trip over her shoelaces and immediately grabbed a book to stop her from falling. Except, well, the book wasn't actually attached to anything. Luckily, her other hand grabbed the bookcase before anything disastrous could happen.

"Magic and Technology sounds like a really good idea." Margo remarked, peering at the title as if nothing had happened. "Thanks!
