Oh, Katie said bashfully, I suppose genes probably makes more sense than jeans. Katie looked thoughtful for a minute. Then she added, I don't think my parents have ever worn jeans. They say they're too casual.
I think the date you described is the only kind of date worth having. No pressure or strings attached. No trying to impress someone. Just being truly yourself. And boys are pretty immature at this age. I wouldn't consider dating a guy until they'd finished puberty and were more mature. I wouldn't say I have a preference for girls necessarily, but I have a preference for maturity and it just so happens that girls generally tend to be more mature than guys - at this age at least. Katie said. Boys could honestly act so dumb before they matured. Asked heard that the famous hero, Ron Weasley, hasn't noticed that his wife Hermione was a girl until fourth year. She thought that may be a slight exaggeration though. Do your parents know? I know mine don't know I'm bi, but then again, there are probably fewer prophesies in the Department of Mysteries than the things my parents just don't know about me. Katie said. She briefly wondered just how many prophesies were in the DoM. Probably tens of thousands.

Siobhán thought for a moment then replied. "I'm not sure that they do or don't. They don't pay that much attention to me. They have noticed that I don't react well then they've mentioned boys around me. Maybe they suspect? I don't know. If I have the tell them or they have to ask me about it, I don't know how they'll react. They've never told me their views on it and they have opinions about everything. Maybe the subject never came up or a rang a bell in their heads yet. Should I consider myself lucky to not have had this conversation with them yet?"

Thinking about it now, Siobhán was a little scared to think about how her parents would react to her sexuality. What if they reacted badly? Siobhán wouldn't be too hurt considering they didn't even take the time to get to know their daughter. It would still hurt though. They're her parents, their opinions matter to her, especially when she needs to make an educated guess. What if they reacted in a good way? Would they be more interested in her? Spend more time with her? Attempt to have some kind of parent/daughter relationship with her? Siobhán shook her head lightly. It was all too much to think about this late at night.

Yeah. Very lucky. When I was eight, I asked them their opinions on LGBTQ+. They told me exactly how wrong they thought the notion of not being cis and straight was, and then punished me for asking a question with such an obvious answer. Never mentioned the topic again. Katie replied, with a slight shudder. I'd test the waters with your parents before telling them if I were you. Your parents seem to have enough respect for you to not punish you, so if you decide to tell them, ask them for their opinion first. Katie added nonchalantly.
Katie felt tired, suddenly. I feel tired. I think I'm gonna head back to the dorms. Meet up tomorrow after breakfast? I highly doubt that the Hufflepuffs will be all that thrilled if a snake crashed their breakfast dining tomorrow morning... Katie said with a slight smirk, So I could meet you in the library after breakfast? Katie asked, ending with a question. She couldn't begin to imagine the reaction the Hufflepuffs would have if she just sat down with them out of nowhere. Imagine: a snake in the badgers' den. She giggled at the thought. She wondered if snake familiars were allowed at Hogwarts. Probably didn't matter either way for her, as Katie wss almost guaranteed to be a long way off from finding her familiar - that is if she even had one.

Siobhán sighed," Suppose I'll wait a while to bring it up to my parents. Can never be too careful, really. I honestly can never tell what mood they're going to be in each time I see them. Even when they look like they might be in a good mood, it can turn sour right quick because they're tired after a hard day of work. Whenever my mother says that I always have to look at her funny because reading artifact all day doesn't seem tiring at all, but I suppose if the artifacts are in a long forgotten language that only a few to this day know.

"Are all parents like that? From a distance they appear in a good mood, but the closer you get, the angrier they actually are? Or is it just mine? Oh well." Siobhán thought how preposterous the world would be if everyone was angry all the time. Thinking about being angry made her tired. It's silly really.

Siobhán smiled a little. "It would be a little awkward to have a snake at a badger gathering. Then again, I'd like to see them all run and hide under the tables. It would be hilarious. All of them running around like crazy people, screaming at the top of their lungs. I wonder how they would react to an actual snake. Probably worse!" Siobhán laughed. "Of course, I'll meet you in the library."

Perfect! I'll see you there! Katie replied with a smile. She was lucky to have such a great friend like Siobhán. She packed up her bag and swung it over her shoulder. Alright. It's getting late so I'm going to head back to the Slytherin dorms. Merlin am I tired. she exclaimed. She and Siobhán hadn't gotten a good night's sleep the prior night. They'd gone to experiment with plants and a blacklight in the abandoned toilets right after dinner. They'd plan to go back to their common rooms before curfew, but had lost track of the time. Their only clue that something was wrong, was when the plants had started "communicating" with them and Katie had gone to check the time. It had been morning, and they hadn't gotten even a wink of sleep. They'd gone to get breakfast and blended in, attempting to hide their obvious tiredness from the all-nighter they'd just pulled, slept through the morning up until lunch, and then had met outside by the Great Lake to chat.
She exited the Owlery, backpack over her shoulder, and with a swish if her silver and green robes, she'd left the room. See you tomorrow! she called back over her shoulder as the door to the Owlery slowly swung shut.

"See you tomorrow!" Siobhán yelled after Katie. After the door closed, Siobhán took a deep breath. She was tired as well. She doesn't think she can ever remember a time that she was ever this tired. Combined with the anxiety of waiting for a reply from her Father, which she hoped would be filled with good news, she felt exhausted. She probably didn't even want to look in a mirror right now. Her hair was most likely a fright to look at since she hadn't bathed since the night before last, which reminded her that she needed to bathe in the morning.

In Siobhán's opinion, it's been a weird, but fun way to start of a school year, considering she didn't expect it to take the kind of turn it did when she bumped into Katie into the library on accident yesterday. She still couldn't believe that they've discovered that plants could actually talk and she still thought that they were so tired that they'd imagined it all. They probably freaked out for nothing, herself especially. With this trip tp the library tomorrow, Siobhán will be able to do some light reading until Katie finishes the homework she said she had and then, possibly, they research plants for their pranks. Hopefully the learning will take their minds off the stress of the waiting for a message.

Gathering her things, even though she didn't come to the owlery with much other than herself and the napkin that held the bacon for Anastasia, she made her way towards the door. Tomorrow was a new day and she knew if would be even more interesting.
