Exploring the Corridors Finished

Scarlet started to become increasingly aware of the time as she started to feel the goose-bumps form on her arm, the evening air getting increasingly cold. 'Maybe just because we're higher up,' she thought to herself as she started to swing her legs gently from the branch she was sat on, partially in an attempt to warm herself up or maybe just for the fun of it.

Scarlet smiled as Wren spoke of her interest in the duelling club, "I've actually been thinking of signing up for the Slytherin duelling team, I'm tempted to wait till next year though," she said, considering her own stance on the school's duelling and quidditch team. She hadn't really considered competitive quidditch for her house, but duelling, that was something Scarlet had really wanted to be a part of, her only worry was that she might not be good enough for the team.

"So this was fun," Wren started, "We'll probably get in trouble if we don't head inside, but maybe we can see each other another time?" Although she loved getting to know Wren, Scarlet thought it would probably be best for them to head back to the castle, she didn't like the idea of getting into trouble so early in the year. She knew there would be many other chances in the year to test the boundaries of the school rules, but for now she was happy to air on the side of caution.

"Yeah, that's probably for the best," she replied, following Wren back down towards the base of the tree. Scarlet half expected the two to bump into a prefect on their way back to the castle, she wasn't exactly sure of the time, but assumed they must have been close to curfew or just had been lucky to have missed the prefects. On entering the entrance hall, Scarlet waved goodbye to Wren, a wide grin on her face, "see you again soon!" She watched as Wren started towards the grand staircase, while she turned to the stairs leading down to the dungeons.

The castle was unusually quiet at this time, without the business and chatter of other students Scarlet had only her own thoughts as company to her dormitory. They had only known each other for a couple of hours yet Scarlet already considered Wren a friend.
