Unexpected goodbye
”I suppose you are right. Most great things happen unexpectedly,” she nodded in agreement. It probably didn’t make sense to force friendships anyway. In fact, whenever she put actual effort to connecting with someone, it never worked out. Perhaps she should learn that not all things required extra effort. “Ah yes, the stinky weirdos,” Carolyn confirmed. “Though I think I only met one so far…and a half?” She questioned shortly. There was still a decision to be made about that second one. “You are definitely not one of them though. And for the record, I think it’s amazing that you talk a lot. It seems that way people at least get a chance to know you and if they are not impressed, they can just move on while the others stick around.” At least that was her take on it. Callie might have felt differently. “To me it’s worse when you are practically invisible so all people can just pass you by,” she shrugged, clearly talking about herself this time. “But I suppose both have their advantages and disadvantages.”
All that Carolyn said was true. She was not just pretending for the girl’s benefit, she really liked that Callie talked a lot. For example, now she shared some information that was of great interest to her, which others might not have mentioned during the first meeting. “Ferula is a great spell! God knows my mother uses it for me all the time,” she chuckled quietly. “She is a healer at St. Mungo’s hospital. I did get to observe her doing many healing spells and she thinks I have a talent for it too but I have yet to learn them myself. For now my father taught me how to do first aid the muggle way,” she paused. “He is a surgeon so he knows his stuff and I do ballet so I get hurt quite often.” At this point, it was not something that bothered her too much. She got used to it and she always carried her first aid kit with her. “Thomas and Elias sound like trouble makes,” Carolyn pointed out with smile. There was no hint of judgement in her voice though. As long as they didn’t go around intentionally hurting people, she didn’t mind. Of course, Carolyn didn’t know them personally but she guessed Callie wouldn’t be friends with them if that were the case. “If they ever need help before you learn the spell, you can come to me,” she offered automatically before realizing how useless it must have sounded. “Although…I suppose it would make more sense to go to the Hospital Wing…definitely faster.” She scratched her head, looking somewhat embarrassed.
"All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots are not reached by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king.” Carolyn reacted instinctively when hearing the familiar phrase. "Wise words from a wise man." She smiled. “It’s a poem from a muggle book series called Lord of the Rings, written by J.R.R. Tolkien.” She hoped it was not too obnoxious to quote the whole poem but it was her favorite muggle work. Her mother thought she was too young to read it but her father bought the books for her and encouraged her to do so after watching the movies so it would be easier to understand. Carolyn would forever be grateful to him for doing that. “I’ll tell you a secret, mothers aren’t always right. I wouldn’t read that amazing story if I listened to her and that would be a huge mistake. I do recommend you do too if you like fantasy stories.” She paused for a second. “In fact I could lend them to you. Just let me know if you ever decide to go for it.”

Unexpected goodbye
@Carolyn Hunt
Sorry for the delay, got caught up with work and university!
"One and a half stinky weirdos?" Callie questioned with a curious grin lingering across her face. "Now I'm curious, who's the half? Tell me EVERYTHING!" She laughed, still incredibly interested in where the idea of half a stinky weirdo came from. Although if she really thought about it perhaps Thomas and Elias could fall into the half a stinky weirdo category. They certainly argued enough to at least partly fall into Callie's definition of a stinky weirdo. When Carolyn mentioned her belief that Callie's habit of almost constantly talking was in fact a good thing, Callie couldn't help but smile. She was so used to being told to calm down or be quiet for a moment that hearing someone actively encourage her habits touched her heart. "I suppose when you put it like that, it's a good thing! I can't really help it though..my mind is constantly going a mile a minute so everything just SPILLS OUT constantly. Gets me into some uh..tricky situations! But that's fine, I can deal." Callie fell into silence for a while to properly listen to Carolyn, a mild frown slipping onto her face when the girl mentioned being invisible. "I don't think you're invisible." She noted with certainty. "I think you're great! People who pass you by are weirdos. Stinky weirdos."
When Carolyn mentioned her mother being a healer at St. Mungo's Callie couldn't help but want to know more. Lately she'd discovered an interest for healing spells even if she was still a while off being able to learn them but knowing more about future possibilities couldn't hurt. "Ooh, she's a healer? That's so cool! I've been wanting to learn more myself but I think I'm a little while off being able to do that." Callie chuckled and rubbed the back of her neck. "Wait, you do ballet! Man, I'm jealous! I'm far too clumsy to even THINK about doing something that..skilled." Callie let out another laugh, knowing the many bruises across her arms was proof enough of her clumsiness. "Thomas and Elias ARE troublemakers." Callie confirmed with a nod of her head. "But they can be super nice people if you give them a chance. Everyone who say Thomas is a massive bully clearly don't know him all that well."
"I'll keep it in mind! Sometimes the hospital wing seems like so much EFFORT." Callie gave Carolyn a thumbs up to reassure her the information wouldn't be forgotten quickly. "Wow, you knew that from memory? That book sounds so cool! I gotta read it!" Callie brought out a pen from her pocket and wrote the title of the book on the back of her hand so she could remember to revisit it later. "Hey, it's almost dinner time!" Callie exclaimed as she took a look at her watch. "Wanna head off to get something to eat? I've got pasta on my mind! Cheesy pasta to be exact. Pasta is NOTHING if it isn't cheesy."

Unexpected goodbye
It seemed to Carolyn that Callie wasn't often praised for her character. At least not openly. She supposed it wasn't too surprising though. Some people despised the chatty and over all hyperactive types. Probably a lot of them actually. Then again, like she said, Callie wouldn't miss out on those people. Carolyn smiled softly as her classmate defended her personality in return. It was mostly true but the problem was that in her case, not all of them passed her by on purpose. She would have to work on in for sure."Well...There is a classmate I'm still making a decision on," Carolyn decided to indulge the girl. in some gossip. "She hurt my friend but she did so while wanting to protect hers. I'm still trying to figure her out. I did have a chance to talk to her afterwards but we couldn't reach an agreement so far. I suppose I'll just have to wait and see," she shrugged. She was a patient person and she was willing to give the girl a benefit of the doubt but she was also not someone pushy. When it became clear the other person wouldn’t bulge, she usually gave up on them. It always felt like a waste of time if they were not willing to give in even a little bit.
“Yes, she is and she is trying to teach me. We don’t use spells of course, since I’m not allowed to use them outside of school yet but she does her best anyway. Actually, both of my parents dedicate most of their time to healing people. I’m quite proud of them.” Carolyn said smiling when the topic changed to her mother. The smile was a bit conflicted though. She definitely was proud of them yet she also selfishly wished they would spend more time with her. “She was the one to sign me up for the ballet classes as well for which I’m definitely grateful…and don’t be jealous we all have our talents. I’m sure there are many things that you are good at and I wouldn’t be.” Then she paused to think about it. “Actually, I don’t think it even matters, you should do anything you want as long as you enjoy it. You don’t have to excel at it.” Carolyn was someone who would get incredibly frustrated by such situation but she could see herself getting over it and keep trying. Even in ballet, she was not overly competitive; she just danced because it made her happy. The fact that she was good at it was definitely a bonus though.
“…Everyone who say Thomas is a massive bully clearly don't know him all that well." Carolyn listened to Callie talking about her friends this time. "I see, I'll make sure to remember that when I meet him," she nodded thoughtfully. The young witch definitely didn't like bullies but not everybody had the same definition for said word. She would have to get to know the boy first before forming an opinion herself. Well... If they ever got to talk that is. "Oh do try to read that one. I think you will like it. It is a masterpiece. I don't usually quote books like this but this one makes me want to every single time someone mentions the story." It was nice to finally think about something positive. Perhaps she could read them again. It would definitely be better than spending whole evening sitting on a dirty bathroom floor. She was about to suggest they should both go when Callie mentioned food. Oh, I didn’t even realise I was hungry. Now that the dinner was mentioned though… “You know what? That sounds like an excellent idea. I don’t think I ever had a properly cheesy pasta,” she agreed with a smile, slowly getting up from the cold floor. “Lead the way, captain.”
