Team 1

𝓐madea dunked her sponge into the bucket, hoping that it would soak up a lot of water before she passed it on. She soaked it for as long as she could before grabbing it out and passing it on to Ana. She successfully passed the sponge and let out a breath. The pressure was off her for the rest of the round, but the rest of the team still had to finish. Amadea watched as the sponge was passed down the line, moving from Gryffindor to Gryffindor. Even though Kat dropped the sponge, the team managed to successfully wring out most of the water into the bucket. Amadea cheered. "Yes, good start everyone!" she said with a smile. "Let's keep it up!"

She glanced over toward the other team quickly, noticing that they hadn't made as much progress with getting water into their bucket. So far, they were ahead and Amadea hoped that things would remain that way. With the success of their first round, she hoped that they wouldn't get too cocky and rush the passes but she also hoped that they would have confidence in their abilities. She steadied herself for the next round, ready to grab the sponge and pass it. Go team!

Well, it wasn't exactly going swimmingly for Cecily's team, but hey, at least they didn't totally fail! She tensed up as she received the sponge that was passed down the line, she carefully handed it off to Bloom, making sure not to spill a drop. As Bloom took it from her, Cecily relaxed and watched as the other Ravenclaw, in turn, wrung every bit of water she possibly could out of the material. But still, to Cecily's dismay, it was clear that the other team had gotten off to a strong start, pulling an early lead. Cecily's team had fallen behind-- it looked as if they barely has a millimeter of water at the bottom of their bucket. Behind was not Cecily's prefered choice of positioning, and it was making her stressed to not be able to do much about it until the sponge made its way back to her.

Bloom moved to the front of the line, and Cecily began to get impatient. She stepped closer to the bucket, and couldn't help from bouncing on her toes to relieve some of the nervous energy. It was all she could do not to tell her team to hurry it up-- although she wanted to, she was sure they already knew that they needed to make up for the miniscule amount of water in their bucket. They needed to really get a move on if they had any chance of winning.

the 'fit

The sponge came to her and Katrina passed it over her head. Apparently she wasn't paying enough attention because a slop of icy water hit her on the head and began trickling its way down her back and freezing her. So much for staying dry. At least she had been sort of quick. Although, that didn't do her much good as the water dribbled down her back, making a large mark on dark on her black shirt.

As fast as she could, Katrina wrung out the sponge and raced to the front of the line to do it all again. She just hoped that no one had seen her. This time she was going to do better. Or at least, try to do better. There wasn't much competition or skill needed in a sponge pass after all.

The 'fit

The Gryffindor nodded in greeting when Amadea arrived. She was pleasant enough, at the very least someone Ana would most likely not punch in the face. However, she couldn't say the same for the next teammate she laid eyes upon. Katrina Walker was absolutely someone Ana would punch in the face and the brunette didn't particularly relish the idea of having to work with her in a game. Still, her competitive streak wouldn't allow her to risk losing the game this quickly.

She placated herself by shooting the redhead a death glare and then began to listen intently as Willow detailed the rules. Ana's mouth twisted slightly as the game was explained, as her leather jacket, sweater, and button-down shirt didn't exactly seem like a choice wardrobe for this particular activity. She would just have to not get wet.

Her strategy worked well as she carefully passed the sponge to Kat, who promptly let a fair amount spill. "Oh my god, seriously?" she huffed indignantly. It was one thing to utterly fail at casting any spells when you attacked Ana or to disturb Ana when she was studying. It was an entirely worse thing to risk Ana's chances at victory in any kind of game. Ana had to win and anyone who was a threat to her winning earned a great deal of ire from the Pureblood.

Still annoyed by the teal haired girl's failure, she scowled and focused intently. Once the sponge reached her again, she opted for the same careful approach, dreading the idea of being soaked in water. She wasn't someone who generally enjoyed getting wet, and even less so while she was wearing multiple layers of clothing in September in Scotland.

The game in itself was quite self-explanatory. Though River put all the blame on her beginner-ness when it was time for her to pick up as much water she possibly could into the sponge. Why on earth did she have to be first in line? Apparently it was no good decision of whoever had made it. She dunked the sponge into the bucket, but her confusion after being thrown into a game like this, and the øressureof being first must have gotten to her as she didn’t really manage to get too much water soaked up. Oh well, not time to lose I suppose, «Here comes the sponge» she said to the person next in line, which was Jay, as she passed them the sponge as skillfully as possible. A cringe ran up her spine as she heard herself let those unexpected words come out of her mouth. The pass in itself wasn’t too bad, though a slight tinge of frustration built as she gave a quick glance to the other team. Their sponge seemed way heavier than their own. «How on earth did they get that much water into that stupid sponge?», River exclaimed through gritted teeth to no one in particular. Well, as quiet as she’d manage in the moment as she prepared for more passing of sponges.

You would think that after the first round, people would get better at the game, not worse. But... that's not how it seemed to work out. The first team seemed to pick up around the same amount of water, at least they had that down. Kat now heading up the team and seeming to make it over her head more carefully this time than the last. Amadea continued to stay dry, an easy gentle pass over her own head again. It seemed she would be the only one staying dry. As Ana would try to grab the sponge something would happen, either she grabbed it too hard or she fully fumbled it and most of the water just unleashed onto her incredibly nice outfit. If there was such thing as Karma, that was the quickest anyone might've seen it come into play as she had just gotten mad at Kat. They lost most of their water, but luckily still got some in the bucket.

The other team however, still struggled with just getting water in the sponge. Bloom obviously wasn't trying to help herself blossom with a sufficient amount of water as she barely got more in than last time. "Do you guys not know how a sponge works... or..." Willow watched on, absolutely dumbfounded. Did they just really not want to get wet? Their passes went find, albeit the sponge kind of fumbled over Jay who seemed a tad unresponsive to the game at the moment, but luckily no water was lost. Still, they were incredibly behind the other team.

Ana and Cecily would then move to the front of their team to start them off for the next round.

𝓐madea held her breath as she watched the sponge move down their team line. Kat began with dunking the sponge into the bucket, soaking up as much water as possible. Amadea grabbed it from the girl and passed it on. Unfortunately, Ana dropped the sponge and most of the water had fallen onto the ground. Some of the water managed to make it into the bucket, though and Amadea cheered because even though it hadn’t been a complete success, they still had managed to get some water into the bucket. They were still in the lead for now; Amadea was especially proud of her herself. Even though this game didn’t require too much skill, she was proving that she could participate in these games without being a complete and utter failure.

Amadea glanced over at the other team again just to see how they were doing in comparison. During this round, they had caught up a little bit but Amadea’s team was still in the lead. Of course, things were subject to change at any moment and Amadea knew that she couldn’t count on anything staying the same. That was why she had to be careful. Amadea prepared for the next round, ready to pass the sponge and win this field day event. This time she would be more careful while passing and she hoped that it would pay off.

Taking a deep breath to calm her frustration, River moved over in the line, getting ready to pass the second round of sponge. How she’d managed to fill the sponge so poorly she had no clue, and there was a light singe of irritation bubbling underneath her skin, still she tried to keep as collected as possible as to not drop the sponge or lose any of the little water they did pick up. When the sponge teached her, it once again was quite light. Not much water weighed it down, and she concluded there must have been a malfunction with the sponge. She didn’t feel like giving or gaining any blame for a game like this. It was so simple, why on earth did it have to go so badly. Glancing over to the other team, they once again seemed to have the upper hand. Perhaps they just had more skill when it came to… sponge passing? River heard the sound of Willow's voice say something. Wondering if they even knew how a sponge worked. «I thought I knew how a sponge worked, but at this point I’m starting to question it», she called back to the hufflepuff, as she tried to keep her focus as the game continued.

Katrina winced at Beckett's words. She had completely forgotten Beckett was still here. Katrina chose not to turn or even acknowledge that she had heard her.

Katrina managed to pass the sponge with not a drop landing on her soaked shirt. As she turned to watch it go down the row, she saw Beckett. And she witnessed every second of the water dumping on her head. Katrina snorted and mumbled, "Instant karma," with a dangerous grin. It was a field day event, it wasn't like Beckett was going to attack her with so many people around. So for now she was safe to say as she pleased.

For the first time, Katrina wasn't hating the field day events. Sure, she was soaked and had just provoked Beckett, but it was actually a bit enjoyable. Maybe it was just the sun on her face or the atmosphere. Anyway, it felt good.

The next round was coming up and Katrina felt a little better now that she had laughed at Beckett. Their team still had a chance of winning since the other team had been struggling to just fill the sponge with water. It was time to do this thing.

Anastasia let out an incredibly undignified squeal as the water soaked her. How perfectly lovely...

Even she had to admit that it was a bit of karma, seeing as she had just snapped at Kit-Kat for doing the exact same thing. Frankly, if it had been anyone else, she would have found it incredibly amusing. However, seeing as she was the one who was all wet, she didn't find it amusing in the slightest. She huffed and shivered slightly, deeply regretting her choice of outfit right about then.

Trying to ignore the nasty damp sweater that was now clinging to her, she moved towards the front of the line and prepared herself for the next round. Despite her and Katrina's losses, their team seemed to be far ahead of the other one, and she rather agreed with Willow's sentiment. Did they in fact not know how to use a sponge? She didn't know exactly how a sponge worked, seeing as she had had little to no use for one before this exact point in life, but she had been able to pick it up fairly quickly. "Not a single word, Walker," she hissed as she passed the redhead.

She decided to go with a swifter pass that round, not overly eager to soak herself further.
