The Long Journey
It would be an understatement to say that Felix was just excited. He was over the moon as he entered the beautiful train that would take him to his new magical school. He hummed slightly as he dragged his large trunk behind him, his skinny arms and small frame not being very useful in the situation. There were so many people around and he couldn't wait to meet them.
As he dragged his trunk down the aisle though, he couldn't help but worry people may think he is weird because of his eyes. He had what was known as Heterochromia iridum which meant that his eyes were two different colors. He hadn't known many people back home but the few he did always made fun of him because of his eyes and well just how he looked in general.
He went to compartment to compartment trying to find one that wasn't completely full until he came upon one that had only three people in it. He adjusted his blue and pink striped sweater and slowly opened the door. He saw a girl with pale skin and ginger hair like him, a girl with chocolate skin and curly hair, and then a boy ,who appeared to be drawing, who looked very... rugged to say the least.
"Hello," he said happily, giving his usual bright smile and waving cheerfully," I hope i'm not bothering any of you, all the other compartments seem to be full." He quickly put his trunk away, trying not to drop it on his head. He took a seat next to the boy and decided he might as well introduce himself. "My name is Felix Hayes, I go by Lix or Lixie most of the time though," he told them, once again waving slightly.

"I'm hoping Gryffindor, but I don't know what vibe I give off honestly." Bella says, after Jax answered her question. Bella watches briefly as he draws Felicia and herself, concentration flowing out of him. She was never skilled at art herself, her skills lay in books and the piano.
The two sat conversing, just as Jax had insisted. It was nice, having friends; or who she hopes would be friends. Bella always wanted to have people she can talk to other than her father, nobody in her primary school seemed to bother with her; they all thought her strange, which in some sense she was different. Not many kids were wizards after all, especially in the muggle school she attended. She still hoped for a friend however.
An hour on and Jax passes his drawing over, a smile escapes Bella. His drawing was of the two, it was so lifelike. His passion bounced off the page. She looks at herself, the drawing so accurate and so detailed to the smallest wrinkle of her top. "Wow..." she whispers, loud enough for everyone to hear. Her eyes catch the necklaces he had added on to both of the girls, Bella's was a ruby with an emerald colour coming off it. It really was beautiful.
The compartment door slides open once again before Bella could compliment his drawing. Another boy enters, with much more confidence than the three already sat inside. His hair was a similar colour to Bella's, with his eyes unusual; one eye was an emerald green whilst the other a blue. It was something Bella had heard of but never seen in person before. The boy introduces himself as Felix, asking if he would be able to sit with them.
Bella sends a small smile, she had never been in the presence of this many people who actually wanted to talk to her. It was quite unnerving. She introduces herself anyway, forcing herself to seem more confident than she was, "Hi, I'm Bella. This is Jax and Felicia." gesturing toward the other two.

The Long Journey
Felix saw the ginger girl smile slightly as she introduced herself and the two others in the compartment. He could tell in a way that she wasn't super confident but was happy that she tried. "Well it's a pleasure to meet you all," he said, his Irish accent becoming a bit more prominent as his excitement grew with every word. This was probably the longest conversation he has had without someone making fun of his eyes.
"This is so much fun," he said smiling again, "I've never been this far away from home but this is exciting." It was true, he had never been anywhere outside of Dublin due to his father not completely trusting him. Maybe this was just the thing he needed, perhaps this will change his life for the better. At the very least, it meant he wouldn't have to see his dad for almost a year which he was more than happy about.
He snapped out of his thoughts and looked around at the others in the compartment. The boy who he was sitting by was apparently named Jax, the ginger girl was Bella, and the curly-haired girl was Felicia. He studied this slightly, wondering about their personalities and their stories, he always did this when he met new people. He really couldn't help it, it was just how he was.
He looked over at Jax and saw the drawing that he had been finishing as he had come in. "That's a brilliant picture," he told him, gesturing slightly towards it. Felix wasn't a great artist but enjoyed drawing and painting in his spare time when he had it. He studied the picture and admired how truly amazing it was. The shading was absolutely terrific and the color of the stones on the necklace really drew you in to the picture. He looked back up at Jax and smiled warmly.

The Long Journey
Jackson climbed to his feet, stuffing his blackbook and pens back in his backpack and stretching like a cat. It was ridiculous, the amount of space he was able to take up when he wanted to. Where as before he'd been curled up on the bench, in as small of a ball as possible, now he somehow managed to take up half the room, limbs stretched out in a long, epic yawn.
Grabbing his bag and throwing it over one shoulder, he went over to the sliding glass doors and pulled one open, having to throw his weight against it as it stubbornly refused to move. There were too many people in there. And knowing him, he'd have a panic attack before the train ride was over, unless he went and did something with himself. So, he walked around for a bit. It may have seemed impossible, but all the other compartments had five or six people in them. Not a single one was still empty.
A small, exhausted groan escaped him as he caught sight of a lady pushing a huge cart full of snacks slowly down the aisle. Would he get shouted at for being outside his compartment? "Hey there sweetheart, would you like something?" she asked, long red nails tip tapping on the handle of the cart as she slowly walked up to him. Sweetheart?? A look down to his clothing confirmed that no, he hadn't overnight changed into someone warm and bubbly, like the other kid who'd walked into the compartment was. Nope. Still metal as ever.
"Sure," he said, pulling out five sickles. "Whatever this gets me." The lady nodded, dumping a bunch of candy in a small paper bag, and handing it off to him. "There you go dear." Muttering out a quick thank you, Jax returned to the compartment and then proceeded to lock the door, so no one else would get in. It was already chaos enough. Setting the bag on the small windowsill, he curled up on his spot, tucking his knees under him. "Help yourselves," he muttered.
It was a few minutes more before he turned to the Artificial Ginger, taking in the way he was sitting, watching for changes in his voice and mannerisms. "You're gay aren't you?" he asked.

The Long Journey
Felix was interested in the bag of candy that had been brought in then froze. When Jax asked if he was gay, he wasn't really sure how he should react or what to say. This question had caught him off guard and he knew his usual smile faltered slightly as he stuttered out words. "U...Um well I... um...," Felix stuttered and felt his face go slightly red. He had never exactly come out as gay to anyone so he wasn't exactly sure how to go about this.
His father was completely against the whole community to begin with and wasn't exactly a big fan of Felix himself so coming out to him definitely wasn't in any of his future plans. Felix himself wasn't exactly sure if he was gay but just knew he had only ever had crushes on guys so figured that he was probably gay. He realized that he had been deep in thought and quickly snapped back to reality before he forgot where he was.
He took a deep breath and his smiled returned slightly as he got ready to answer. "Well...um... I'm not really sure," he started, trying his best to sound as calm and confident as he possibly could, "for now that shall be my little secret, if that is alright." He smiled warmly at the rugged boy next to him, now wondering why he had asked him the question. He played with the end of one of his sleeves slightly. which is what he did when he was slightly nervous and unsure.

The Long Journey
Bella watches the interaction unfolding in front of her, realising the unease from Felix. She had been bought up to never judge anyone, so being around anyone lgbt didn't phase her. Though she had heard from snippets of past conversations how hard it was for some to 'come out', or some even liked to take their time and sort out their feelings themselves. Jax, as he sat on the pink seats, was quite openly gay.
Felix takes his time to answer, clearly lost in his own thoughts. Breaking from it, he turns with a smile and answers maturely. She smiles at how he handled it, he seems very mature. Sensing an awkward silence continuing unless it's broken, Bella speaks up hoping to change the subject, "So, Felix, how are you feeling about starting Hogwarts?".
Not wanting to exclude anyone else, though her question was directed to Felix, Bella turns her body toward everyone in the compartment. She just hoped the others won't think her rude. Going from a cottage in the countryside to a castle full of people her age will be a big change. Her was always confident she would be okay at school, but even now she wished to be back with him.

The Long Journey
After more or less avoiding and not really answering Jax's question, he heard Bella start talking. He heard her ask him about how he felt about starting at Hogwarts, appreciating the change in conversation. Giving a warm smile he started, "I'm really excited to get started, like I said before I've never been this far away from home but it's definitely worth it." He fixed his bangs slightly so they weren't completely in his eyes and leaned back slightly in the seat, crossing his legs and playing with the sleeve of his sweater again.
"I've never been to an actual school really before as well since I've always been home schooled so i'm so also excited to actually have school with other people," Felix continued, smiling happily at the thought. Being home schooled meant that he was able to learn ahead and what he wanted sometimes but it also meant that he wasn't able to be as close with the few kids he knew which also lead to him not having any friends what so ever growing up.
"I can't wait to meet people, everyone seems so interesting," he continued again, really hoping that he could make a bunch of friends at Hogwarts as well as learn a bunch about magic. Deep down, he also hoped he could learn more about his mother. "What about all of you," he questioned the three others in the compartment with him, hoping he wasn't talking to much.
