The newer girl introduced herself as Miranda, and Allie nodded, giving her a smile, watching as Miranda recognized Katrina, the girl who had been sleeping before. Katrina didn't seem very upset that Allie had woken her up, just shrugging when she apologized, but Allie still felt a little bad. . .

When Katrina told them all they could sit down in the other chairs around the table, Allie nodded thankfully. It had been a little odd for them all to be standing around the table while Katrina sat anyway. Allie quickly slid out a chair and sat down on it, just around the same time that the girl pulled out a handful of Galleons and offered to buy them something something to drink.

"Oh," Allie said, pleasantly surprised. "Are you sure? I can buy my own if you want," she added. Of course, she couldn't help it as her eyes strayed over to the Menu and looked it over, searching for something she might like and landed on the picture of a steamy sup of hot chocolate.

While she was looking the menu over, she heard Matrix tell Katrina that she didn't have to buy him a drink either. Smiling as she realized how similar her and Matrix were, she turned to see what the other girl, Miranda would say.

The previously asleep girl confirmed that her name was in fact Katrina, and Miranda nodded with a smile. At least she wouldn't have to face the embarrassment of getting a name wrong. Even if the person pretended they didn't mind, it was rare - if ever- that they spoke the truth, even if they themselves thought they didn't mind. The subconscious mind was a tricky thing.

Realizing that her thoughts were beginning to stray off topic, as they were often wont to do, she quickly refocused on the conversation happening around her.

"I'm not really hungry," Miranda said in response to Katrina's offer. "I ate just before we took the Floo network here, so there's no need." She picked up a menu at peered at it anyways, curious at what kind of things she might find for sale. It may seem strange, but she'd never actually gone to eat at the Leaky Cauldron before. She passed through with her family plenty times before, but only ever in transit, never to actually stay for any period of time. Although now that she actually had a chance to take a look at the options, she wasn't all that surprised by what there was. It was mostly just general wizarding food, with the exclusion of the Leaky Burgers.

A faint smile tracing her face, she set the menu back down and took a seat. Just in case anyone thought she'd changed her mind because she'd checked the menu, Miranda quickly repeated that she wasn't feeling hungry, then glanced over at the cat, her smile fading slightly. Felines and her had never mixed well.

Katrina blinked a couple times, the sleep finally wearing off. She really needed to sleep more. It was embarrassing that all three of the probably students would know her as the girl sleeping in the Leaky Cauldron. Her first impressions of each of them was a fuzzy because she was still half asleep. Its a good thing that first impressions weren't as big of a deal to Katrina as they were to other people.

Each of the other kids sat down, relieving Katrina of the awkward looking up at people. They all seemed nice enough.

There was Matrix, if Katrina remembered his name right. He had dark hair and light eyes. He carried himself as if he were older than he looked, Katrina thought that he may be a first year, but she wasn't sure. When Boomerang rubbed against him, he smiled and complimented Katrina's feline. "Thanks"

The next girl was Addie? Allie? She had long brown hair and chocolate eyes. Katrina thought that she was really sweet, at least her impression of her was. She also appeared younger. For a moment, Katrina wondered if all three of them were first years. That would be somewhat ironic.

The last girl was Miranda. Miranda had light blonde hair and bright green eyes. There was something about her that was... well, Katrina couldn't put her finger on it. She didn't seem mean or rude or anything, but there was an unsettling aura around her. Katrina pushed that aside and refocused on her offer of a drink.

Matrix asked for a Hot Chocolate but asked to pay for his own drink, sliding the money for it over the table. Allie followed suit, asking if she should pay for it too. "No, please, it's my gift. I have extra money anyway and nothing to spend it on," The last girl, Miranda, mentioned that she had just eaten and wasn't hungry, "Well, if you change your mind, just let me know,"

Katrina pushed her chair back, standing beside it for a moment, "So, one hot coco for Matrix. Another coco for Allie? Or something else? Miranda, you are good. Then one creamy coffee for the tired one, me," With a smile, Katrina would wait for clarification from Allie and turn on her heel.

Katrina came back with three cups and slid them across the wooden table to each recipient. Taking a deep sniff of her coffee. She really wasn't a huge fan of the bitter drink, but she needed the caffeine and it was creamy enough. She didn't want to fall asleep... again.

Allie would offer Katrina to buy her own drinks. Very similar to what Matrix said. He let an internal sigh, happy that he was not the only one to offer to pay for his drink. He was not sure if there maybe was a formality to buy people some food. Miranda would tell Katrina that she had eaten before coming here through Floo powder. He had never used it before but had heard of it. His father rarely used it, mainly if there was an emergency meeting in the Ministry of Magic. His mother could not travel through it as she was a Muggle, so his family decided to just travel the Muggle way around.

Katrina would tell Matrix that it was fine, as she had extra money to spend. Matrix smiled, this girl seemed pretty nice. She was offering to use her money on people she had just met. He hoped that they could be friends in the future. “Thank you very much” He would say. Katrina would repeat his order, Allie’s, and lastly herself. He would give her a small nod to her, letting her verify his order.

After a few moments, Katrina would return with the drinks and slid Matrix’s across the table. “Thank you” he would say again. He would smell the warmth of the chocolate when he brought it up for a sip. The drink tasted great and Matrix would grin. He looked over at the girls, the only one she recognized was Allie. He was sure that he had never seen the other two before. “Do you guys go to Hogwarts?” He would ask, addressing Katrina and Miranda. They may have gone to other schools and had just decided to visit this place. He had heard of the Leaky Cauldron before, it was an important place for Magic folk. “If so, what year?” He would ask. They may have been first years, maybe in different houses or classes. It would be a little embarrassing if one of them was a Hufflepuff.

When Allie turned back so she was facing the table again, Miranda was telling Katrina that she had eaten before coming to the Leaky Cauldron. She mentioned the Floo Network, which made Allie shiver slightly. For some reason that she didn't quite know, stepping into a fireplace wasn't her ideal way to travel. She had only used it once, and never, ever wanted to use it again.

Blinking a few times to try and refocus on what the others were saying, Allie noticed a fluffy little cat that was walking around and under their table. She had been quite distracted, it seemed, because everyone else at the table looked as if they had already seen it. Reaching down to pat it gently, Allie smiled. She had always liked animals, especially cats.

In response to Allie offering to buy her own drink, Katrina insisted that it was her gift to them. Allie nodded gratefully. "Oh, alright, thank you," she said, her smile a little wider. It was nice, she thought, that someone who she had just met was already offering to buy her a drink - and everyone else at their table no less. Katrina stood up and made sure their orders were correct before setting off to purchase them. A few moments later she came back, and Allie took the cup carefully off the table and took a small sip.

"Do you guys go to Hogwarts?" Allie heard Matrix ask the two other girls at their table. They both seemed older than her and Matrix she thought. A few seconds after he asked his first question Matrix asked another, this one about which year they were in. Allie leaned forward a little more she she could heard their answers over the noise as she set her steamy cup back on the table.

As Katrina went up to the counter to buy drinks for herself and the two others, Miranda found herself idly splitting her gaze between the strange assortment of people meandering through the room, and the light orange cat. She knew her antagonistic behaviour toward felines wasn't the nicest thing, but she really couldn't help it. Cedar joked that it was her canine nature coming through, and sometimes it felt like he was right.

"Yes, I go to Hogwarts too," Miranda replied after Matrix finished his questions. "I'm in Ravenclaw. House of the wise and all that." She smiled slightly, curious as to what houses the others were in. It was always nice to meet people that had different views from her, as long as they were genrally agreeable. And while not all Ravenclaws were the same (not at all, in fact), it was still nice to talk to a person who's predominant trait wasn't curiosity.

Miranda fiddled with her bracelet as she waited to see how the others would answer. Matrix seemed to socialize easily, so if she had to guess, she'd peg him as a Gryffindor or Hufflepuff. Katrina seemed roughly the same, although it was possible she could be a Ravenclaw as well. Allie, though, had spoken the least of them all, so Miranda didn't really know what her personality was like. That made it difficult.

Katrina was glad that the other two students who had gotten drinks seemed to enjoy them thoroughly. It took a few sips to get used to the bitter of the coffee, but it wasn't long before she was enjoying that as well. Soon enough, she could feel the buzz of energy and finally felt awake enough to hold a proper conversation.

Matrix offered a conversation and Katrina waited a moment for the others to respond. It was surprising how much Katrina had grown just over the summer. She was holding an actual conversation, with people she hardly knew. Bye, bye socially awkward Kat, hello semi confidant Kat. Allie stayed silent to the question and Miranda answered what house she was, Ravenclaw. Katrina nodded, she might actually be the first Ravenclaw that Katrina had really gotten to know.

"I go to Hogwarts as well. I am in Gryffindor, seco-- well I guess third year now," It felt weird to say. Third year. Katrina had introduced herself a few times, but she hadn't gotten used to that yet. Third year was almost half way through her schooling.

Katrina took another long sip of the creamy coffee. She could continue the conversation, but figured the other two girls might appreciate some time to talk. Maybe? If not, Katrina could easily jump in and spur the conversation.

From the corner of Matrix’s eye, he would see Allie pet the cat. The cat did not seem to retaliate violently, like he had seen some do. But he probably acted the way he did because he might have been trained. He doubted that someone told wild cats to be petted without moving! Matrix would laugh internally at the thought. It seemed like Allie liked animals too. She seemed to have a few common interests with him. It was cool that his friends are similar to him in different ways. Miranda would tell the group that she was in Ravenclaw, the same as Allie. He still did not know what year she was in, but she seemed older than him. Katrina said she was a third year Gryffindor. No wonder he had not seen her before! It was his turn to answer. “I am a First Year Hufflepuff. We almost have all the houses together.” He would say smiling.

Matrix did not want an awkward silence, which may happen since they had just met. “Third Years get to go to Hogsmeade, right?” He would ask Katrina, remembering her talk with Lindsey. “Have you gone yet?” He would hope that they would have a good discussion and perhaps even become friends. He would take another sip of his drink, some of the froth sticking above his lips. In a few seconds, he would realize that there was something there and would wipe it off, slightly embarrassed.

Listening as the others responded, all of them saying they went to Hogwarts and listing various years and houses, Allie nodded, then answered the question herself. "I'm in Ravenclaw as well," she said, giving Miranda a small smile. "First year, as you might have guessed." When Matrix responded, she nodded. "Yes, all we need is a Slytherin. . . although we do have two Ravenclaws."

There was a small pause, and Allie took another sip of her hot chocolate. Matrix then changed the subject, asking about Hogsmeade. The first year's eyes lit up. Going to Hogsmeade was one of the main reasons she couldn't wait to be a third year. It seemed so amazing. . . like a Diagon Alley but maybe even better. "Oh, right!" she exclaimed. "I really want to go. . . do you know why they only let third years visit?" She asked, some of her curious personality finally seeming to wake up. I've always wanted to know the answer to that. . . but I suppose that waiting until your third year makes it a little more exciting when you finally get to go." Her eyes sparkled with excitement.

Before, the group had mainly been chatting about random things, like their houses, and introducing themselves and such, so Allie hadn't been able to show off her more curious, excitable side. Now though, it was like someone had flipped a switch and she was very enthusiastic, and ready to talk.

So I was pretty much right with Katrina and Matrix, Miranda found herself thinking after the house introductions had finished. And Allie is in Ravenclaw like me...I guess that makes sense. She seems like the type, now that I really think about it...and I may have seen her in the common room before...

When Matrix brought up Hogsmeade, Miranda broke into a smile. Technically she'd already travelled within its confines, since the Shrieking Shack was there, but she'd never actually seen any of it. And from what she'd heard, it was amazing. Honeyduke's, Zonko's...the list was very long indeed. Miranda would have loved to explore it ahead of her time, but she had no idea how to get there without convincing her parents to take them to Hogsmeade as a summer trip. "The staff probably don't think first and second years are old enough. You know, since third years are almost all teenagers by then." She shot Katrina a grin, then sidled backwards as she spotted the cat taking a small step in her direction. Nope, she was definitely not up for that encounter just yet, although she hoped no one had noticed her reaction. Quite a few people tended to get offended when they saw how she acted towards their pet.
