Nodding at her new acquaintance's response, Heather consulted her mental map. ‘Abandoned Toilets and the Duelling Club… The former is on the second floor, while the latter is on the fourth’ “I see… Well, the toilets are on the second floor, so we can go there first, then if we don't get too tired or someone doesn't catch us, we can visit the Duelling Club too!” Putting a finger under her cheek thoughtfully, Heather concluded.
As she focused on Miranda’s question, the tall girl suddenly adopted a straighter posture, her lips pressed together to create a thin line. Then she leaned a bit towards her companion, adopting her ‘gossip’ tone. “Well, to be honest, I don’t know for sure, but from what some of my friends told me, it is said to be haunted by a ghost- I think someone was killed there some time ago, che spavento! How cruel, first you die and then you have to haunt bathrooms, of all places! Man, that ghost must be bored." Smirking at the thought, Heather moved back, returning to speaking normally. “Though I can’t be sure, I never saw it with my own eyes. Sadly, my first year at Hogwarts was suddenly cut by some… erm, personal issues, and I had to freeze my year. This is why I never got the chance to find out more about the places in this castle." A bit distraught at the sudden memory of her last year, Heather quickly brushed it off, masking her sadness.
"Wait, there's a Duelling Club around here? And I haven't joined yet?" Biting her cheek, the Ravenclaw shrugged. "This, I really have no idea. Though, I haven't heard anyone mentioning the duels, so I am inclined to think that right now the club is currently dissolved."

"A ghost? In the bathrooms?" Miranda shuddered. "That is officially the worst place for a ghost to be. Poor thing. Do you think it can leave, if it wanted to?" No wonder the bathrooms had been abandoned. First, someone was killed there, then their ghost was left to haunt it. Yeesh. She idly wondered what kind of personal issues would have caused Heather to miss a bunch of the previous year, but dismissed the thought. It wasn't a good habit to pry in another person's personal business.
When Heather told her that she thought the Dueling Club had been stopped, Miranda sighed dramatically. "Ah well. Maybe it will be restarted. That would be super fun to try out. What about you? Would you join, if you could?"
Miranda couldn't imagine how anyone could say no to the chance to enchant fellow students. Sure, transfiguring animals and charming furniture was interesting, but using it on people...now, that would be hilarious. Well, if you chose the right spell. Miranda's current repertoire wasn't very extensive, but it would still be fun to try.

"Do you think it can leave, if it wanted to?" As another wave of coldness seemed to rush in the hallway from outside, Heather hugged herself a bit tighter, all while thinking about how to answer to Miranda's question; she hadn't that much knowledge of other magical creatures, so she wasn't sure how hauntings actually worked. "Maybe? I am not sure, though. I mean, who would want to haunt a bathroom of all places? And an abandoned one at that? I'm thinking that it may be forced to stay there, you know, as some sort of punishment? Since other ghosts are freely walking around the castle." Replying, Heather's thoughts wandered to her House ghost. 'The Grey Lady', as people called it, was someone Heather was quite interested in, and the girl was quite happy that she was the ghost of her house. Other ghosts seemed...quite strange, and at times, even outright mean.
As Miranda changed the subject to the Duelling Club, Heather smiled at the other Ravenclaw's question. A future where she could use some charms on other students seemed quite intriguing. Though, the thought of being enchanted herself by someone excited Heather more. As long as there weren't any heights involved, the girl loved putting herself in extreme, sometimes quite dangerous situations. Alas, she was curious about how a spell cast on herself would feel. "Yeah, I wouldn't pass an opportunity like that. Usually, I am quite impulsive, so I don't know how well I would do in the actual duel. Though, winning or not, I would enjoy it." Beginning to feel a bit distracted by the cold, Heather looked at Miranda sympathetically. "So, shall we head there? We should move before someone catches us."

"That's true. Well, maybe she actually enjoys being in the bathrooms? I know that sounds weird, but why else would she stay... I don't think it's possible to bind a ghost in any way. At least, not easily." Miranda was silent as she tried to think the problem out, but came up blank. She couldn't think of any plausible explanations off of the top of her head.
"Yeah, I wouldn't pass an opportunity like that. Usually, I am quite impulsive, so I don't know how well I would do in the actual duel. Though, winning or not, I would enjoy it. So, shall we head there? We should move before someone catches us," Heather said, and Miranda noticed her shivering slightly.
"Good idea," Miranda answered with a nod. She spun around in a slow circle, trying to get her bearings. "I'm pretty sure all of the larger rooms are on the fourth floor, so chances are the Duelling Club is up there, unless for some reason it's on the grounds." Another spin, and then she pointed at a wide corridor that led off of the hall they were in. "I think we can go that way, and we'll eventually hit a staircase up."

"Good idea," Miranda replied. As she spun around, taking in her surroundings and presuming where the Duelling Room could be, Heather nodded in approval. "Yeah, from what I know the Duelling Club is on the fourth floor." She then glanced at the corridor her aquaintance had pointed at. "I think we can go that way, and we'll eventually hit a staircase up."
This time, the taller girl couldn't say anything; after all, she didn't have the best sense of direction- not a few were the times when Heather actually got lost and sidetracked from her original path. "You lead the way, Stellina." Heather stopped talking mid-track; was she awkward for already giving Miranda a nickame? "It's- It means 'little star' in Italian, so don't worry, it's a lovely nickname." Laughing awkwardly, Heather rubbed the back of her neck.
Nothing could be heard, besides the faint sound of their footsteps. The taller Ravenclaw slowed down a bit, so she could match Miranda's pace. Turning around to face her, she noticed something on her wrist. "Nice bracelet, I like that shade of pink." Heather smiled sweetly. She had recently got more interested in accessories and jewelry, so she usually looked for details like these when she met up with new people.

"Stellina?" Miranda echoed in surprise, then listened as Heather explained quickly.
"It's- It means 'little star' in Italian, so don't worry, it's a lovely nickname."
"Oh," Miranda replied, her mind racing. "It's...nice." Little star? How exactly did that describe her? She didn't seem particularly shiny or reflective, nor did she seem all that little. Then again, maybe it didn't mean something all that literal. Miranda had never been all that good at uncovering hypothetical meanings.
There was silence for a while, then Heather turned to look back and her gaze seemed to catch on Miranda's wrist. To her surprise, the other girl commented on her bracelet. "Thanks," she replied sincerely. "My father gave it to me as a going-away present." And that made it all the more precious to Miranda. Her father almost never even acknowledged she was there, let alone gave her gifts.
She glanced up and over at one of the suits of armor they passed, shuddering under its serene gaze. No matter how long she'd spent at the school, she'd never been able to shake off the feeling that they were watching her, and it was increasingly creepy when you were up to no good and didn't want to get caught. So. Maybe not the best vote of confidence.

"Thanks, my father gave it to me as a going-away present." Hearing Miranda's sincere words, Heather couldn't help but to feel a bit envious, though she quickly hid that; instead she opted to sigh, albeit a bit longingly. "Lucky you, all I have left from my father is..." Trailing off, Heather looked around awkwardly, shrugging. "I guess these walls? It sounds strange, but he went to Hogwarts too. And, during my first day here, knowing that I was walking on the same paths he walked all those years ago, it truly did feel like he was here with me."
Sadly, Heather had nothing physical left from her father, who passed away a few years ago, even though she admired and loved him so much. After his death, the girl tried to search through his things, in hopes of getting something that belonged to him, but her mother took her husband's things and didn't allow anyone else to touch them, besides Heather's older sister, of course. No matter what she would try, the Ravenclaw was always overshadowed by Valentina, and even if she somehow understood now why her mother discriminated against her younger children so much, the wounds from the past still stung.
Snapping out of her thoughts, the girl's blue eyes followed the armor Miranda was staring at. Personally, she enjoyed how it looked- once she even tried climbing into a similar one, to see if she could scare students who walked past by!- but Miranda did seem to feel a bit uneasy; maybe she didn't like it that much.

"Really?" Miranda asked, although in retrospect, she shouldn't have been so surprised. It made sense that plenty of the student's parents had attended Hogwarts beforehand. "My mother and father both went here when they were young, too. Mother was in Ravenclaw, while Father was in Gryffindor. I kinda take after both of them in some ways."
She followed Heather's gaze and saw that she, too, was staring at the foreboding set of armor. Briefly, Miranda wondered what she thought when she saw it. The other girl's expression wasn't one of distaste, like Miranda's most likely was. More... fondness? Okay, maybe that wasn't the best description, but it was what came to mind at the moment. Although, fondness for what, Miranda wasn't sure.
"So. Dueling club. Fourth floor. Let's not get lost, right?" she said finally, trying to get them back on track. Dawdling was probably not the best idea when they were out past curfew. You never knew when a prefect might show up and give you detention. And if Miranda got lost in a conversation, she might not notice as they walked past a staircase or the right door or something ridiculous like that. "The stairway should be nearby..."

The blonde grinned. "My mother isn't a wizard, and she did a pretty good job at hiding my father's magical past after he passed away, so I found out about wizards only a couple of years before I got here." The girl shrugged. "I guess this is why I am so curious about everything; in one moment all I knew was the normal life, normal by muggle definitions, of course, and in the next one not only I find out that wizards exist and have a secret world of their own, but I find that I am a part of it, too!" Giggling, Heather's eyes fixated on the armor in front of her, while her mind wandered for a moment back to the time she had shown her first sign of magic. What a strange day it was back then!
"So. Dueling club. Fourth floor. Let's not get lost, right?" Swiftly turning her head towards Miranda, Heather blinked, remembering the task at hand. "Right. Sorry, I tend to get sidetracked quite easily..." Rubbing the back of her neck, blood rushed to Heather's cheeks. Between the two Ravenclaws, it was already obvious who was the more responsible one- well, as responsible as two students sneaking around past the curfew could be. "The stairway should be nearby..." Miranda said just as the girls turned around the corner, coming face to face with the said thing. Puffing, Heather bit her lip in order to stifle her laugh. Now this reminds me of that 'manifesting' stuff I've read about in some magazines, the girl thought, shaking her head and starting to walk up the stairs. Even if she was a wizard, Heather didn't fully erase her 'muggle heritage'- after all, she spent most of her life living like a non-wizard, so she still enjoyed muggle things.
Busy with her thoughts once more, the taller girl didn't look where she was going and, with a yelp, she suddenly found herself falling down on the stairs flat on her face. "Caspita! Ouch... Bloody hell, I hope I didn't break my nose..." Wincing, the girl stood up, touching her face- and there it was, some blood smeared on her fingers. Sighing, Heather looked around for tissues or at least something to help her with her bleeding. In the worst case, she would have to use her t-shirt, but she hoped she wouldn't have to do that. This was just her luck, once again she was proving to be the biggest klutz in the world!

"Quite a few Ravenclaws do," Miranda replied with a sideways grin. "Including me. Actually, especially me." Still making an effort to stay on track, she recalled her mental map of the school and said something about a staircase, just as they turned a corner and arrived at the foot of one.
Miranda let out a surprised laugh, although she was careful to keep it quiet so it didn't attract the attention of any unwanted prefects or professors. "We just need to get up to the fourth floor, then find the Dueling Club room. And, hopefully, not get caught," she added on at the end as an afterthought. It was always good to have one's priorities in line.
She turned to glance at Heather just in time to see her trip and fall onto her face. "Heather? Are you okay?" Miranda exclaimed, crouching next to the other girl.
"Caspita! Ouch... Bloody hell, I hope I didn't break my nose..." Heather murmured, reaching up to touch her face. Unfortunately, her hand came away wet with blood, which seemed to have come from her nose - whether it was just bloody, or actually broken remained to be seen.
"Oh dear," Miranda replied worriedly, standing up as well. "Do you know any spells to fix that? Because I don't..."
