Marshal laughed lightly when Lindsey started fretting about him jumping off a cliff with the nearest janitor's mop. Did they have janitors at Hogwarts? Or was all the cleaning taken care of with magic? Maybe a magical janitor... That seemed to lack just enough logical reasoning to be true.
He hadn't actually intended to go cliff jumping, but he appreciated her concern. And now that he thought about it, he found himself hoping that she didn't actually think he was that stupid. On that same note, he wondered if he really wasn't that stupid.
Lindsey said that a broom had to be protected with some sort of charm in order to fly. That made sense, he supposed. But he didn't doubt that he could find a charmed broom if he really tried, given enough opportunity. He might get a few bumps and bruises from jumping down small hills with non-magical brooms along the way, but at least it wouldn't be a cliff; until he found the right one, that is.
"We have flying class to help you fly as well.”
"There's a class where you learn to fly?" He exclaimed in excitement, a stupid grin spreading across his face. "Now, that's something to look forward to!"
In light of this new information, he supposed he would try to stay alive long enough to experience this flying class.

“Well, it’s definitely interesting…but some subjects are rather hard. Like Transfiguration. Professor Lian’s classes are always tough,” Lindsey said in reply to his question about the classes at Hogwarts.
Hard. That wasn't a word he liked to hear in association with school. School had never been one of the things he was best at; not because he was stupid, but rather because he just wasn't interested enough in most subjects to put forth the kind of effort that he probably should.
He sighed, his previous happiness wavering slightly as he imagined the impossible courses that he would have to take in the coming school year, on subjects he had never even imagined before, let alone studied. But he did his best to hold onto the thought of flying through the air like a bird, unhindered by pesky things like gravity. It would be worth all of the academic suffering he would have to go through if it meant he could do that, as well as all of the other magical feats he would learn.

"By the way," Lindsey said, pulling him away from his anxious thoughts. "Are you hungry? Let’s get to the BBQ. We could continue our talk there.”
Oh, right, the barbecue! He had become so caught up in their conversation that he had completely forgotten about the event. He caught a whiff of something delicious, and his stomach informed him that he should follow his nose.
Pleased that Lindsey wasn't entirely annoyed by him yet, he stood up to follow her. "I couldn't think of anything I'd rather do. Let's go!"
As Lindsey began walking away, however, he hesitated. Glancing back at the sun, which continued to sink lower in the gold and pink sky, he reached a hand up once again and grabbed hold of his rope necklace.
He whispered, too quietly for Lindsey to hear, "Goodnight, sis," then turned to follow his newfound friend.
