Katrina was so glad that people were enjoying her little get together. That was until she felt something off. Like a weight draped across her shoulders. The oddest part was, nothing had changed. The girls were all still chatting and smiling. The expression of contentment slipped right off the third year's face. She knew this feeling. It was like at SWAG club and right before something bad happened.

Then, a larger man entered the pillow fort. Instantly, Katrina shriveled back. What rules had she broken? As he casually leaned against a table he took out a scroll and began reading from it. No food in the library. No magic use outside school curriculum. Katrina felt tears burn in the back of her eyes as he finished. She was in detention?

Does getting detention go on your permanent record? What about Annie, she was a prefect. Would she get kicked from that status? Katrina felt her heart seize up. Everyone here was in trouble because of her. And Professor Karr was here too. Would she think less of Katrina now? And who even was the guy. Guilt and embarrassment wrapped up a heavy ball in her chest. Tears welled up in her eyes as she turned to the other girls.

"I'm so sorry. It was me who set it up but I didn't realize that it was breaking any rules. I should have paid attention or not set this up at all. I'm so sorry," Katrina stumbled out an apology, sniffing quietly to herself. She had made a big mistake this time.

Katrina bit her lip as she got to work, avoiding making eye contact with any of the professors. Why had she been so stupid? It wasn't like she deserved to have more than an hour without feeling horrible and stressing and... Katrina stopped her mental rage knowing it was pointless. She had broken the rules after all, even if she hadn't meant to.

First she took the blanket nearest to her and folded it. Being the first awkward one to take one step towards cleaning it all up. It would be a hassle, especially since she had spent so much time setting it all up. Katrina balled her fists hidden under her pajamas. The roof should come down first. Katrina sighed and realized she would have to climb up the pillars to get the sheets down. The second year hung her head as she went into the darker side of the fort.

Katrina pulled up the blanket to allow herself in the small space between the blankets and the bookshelves, dragging one of the ladders along the rail. At least she had that for this side, the rest of it would be immensely harder. She climbed up the ladder and undid the rope, watching as part of her hard worked palace collapsed. Might as well get all of the stuff off of the shelves so the librarian could get to them.

Inside, Katrina was storming. Bashing herself for being clueless and naïve. Guilt working its way into a void of stress. How would the other girls think of her? Why had she even tried to do anything? Couldn't she had been smarter. Eventually, all of the ropes on the reading side close to the bookshelves were down. Katrina went over to the other side, pulling the sheets apart so the other girls could help fold if they wanted.

Katrina really didn't want any of the other girls to do her work. She had gotten them into this mess after all. As Katrina climbed up the decorated walls, she dearly hoped that the Professors wouldn't scold her for it. After all, how else would she get the sheets down?

It took a while, but Katrina got all the sheets down. She then began folding them, taking the extra time to make sure they looked good. At least she could show Professor Karr that she was okay fixing her mistakes. Righting her wrongs. Katrina had gotten the warning the one time in the Astronomy tower, this was the result of being careless.

After the sheets were nicely folded in a short tower. Katrina stacked up the mattresses next, placing the folded sheets on top when she was done. Then she put all the pillows on the mattress and put the books in their respectful spots.

At long last, the reading side was put away. Katrina had left the talking side to the other girls, wanting space. Everything was reduced to the stack of mattresses and a pile on top. Katrina hoped no one saw her as she collapsed onto the mattress. She stifled sobs into the pillow for a moment, this was the most embarrassed she had been in her entire life. It only took her a short while to get her tears out. She then wiped them away, took a deep breath and entered what would be left of the talking side, hoping that she didn't look like she had been crying.

Katrina walked up to Professor Karr, "I am so sorry. I didn't mean to do anything wrong. I was trying to just... well it doesn't matter. But I'm really, really sorry that I broke the rules, I wont do it again. I know I told you that last time, but I really mean it this time." Katrina looked at her feet the entire time she said this, not hiding her emotions enough. A single tear landed on her foot. How had she even gotten herself into this mess?

Miranda felt herself jump as the intimidating voice of the Hogwarts caretaker rung out, and she twisted to face him, her face heating up. In her defense, she'd never actually learnt what the specific school rules were, but then again, it was completely her fault she'd never bothered. So maybe a bit of detention was well-deserved. After all, it could be worse.

She watched as a girl with bright red hair stood up and started to slowly dismantle the reading side of the fort. Silently, Miranda also got up and began to clean up the assorted pillows that layered the ground. She piled them into neat stacks, unsure what else there was to do with them since she didn't have the faintest idea where they truly belonged.

Sure, she didn't like getting in trouble - who did? - but it was an inescapable part of her life. Anyone who was as curious as she was and had an urge to explore everything would say the same. It was maybe not the best habit, but at least Miranda didn't fear punishment all that much. It was embarrassing, true, but weren't all punishments like that in a way? After all, there was nothing more embarrassing than being caught, in her eyes. Although, she didn't see the point in getting mad or feeling sad about it. Whenever she was punished, she carried out the sentence quietly, and without complaint.

After a little while spent picking up pillows, she glanced up to see the roof of the fort coming down on the other side, where the fort's creator was working. That was fast, Miranda couldn't help thinking as she watched the blankets float to the ground like a wave of tan-coloured snow.

As Miranda resumed her work, she wondered what the rest of the Hogwarts rules were. If she were smart, and she was, she'd find them out soon. Maybe they were posted on the bulletin board in the small hall or her common room. It couldn't hurt to check. Well, after they finished cleaning up.

She was so lost in her own thoughts that when she finally looked up and noticed that there were no more pillows to stack, she felt a start of surprise. "I have got to pay more attention to my surroundings," Miranda mumbled quietly, sighing. That had always been a big problem of hers, and one she'd never been able to completely remedy. When people say that Ravenclaws always have their heads in the clouds, chances are they're talking about her specifically.

She heard his footsteps, felt his presence which was not a comforting one and sensed his stare. The new staff member, didn't he have to role of Caretaker or something? Anywho the brunette shuddered and immediately looked down, focusing on her shoes and ground rather than his voice which she could describe as only two things, commanding. The girl could tell when he looked at them even though she wasn't looking directly at him. A small shudder ran through her body, making her fidget feeling utterly intimidated by the tall but quiet man.

Only when the word detention was mentioned, did she snap her head from the ground. Her eyes widened in shock but she respectfully kept her mouth shut, not about to protest with two staff members in her presence. Annie noticed the other staff member as the Professor of Astronomy, Professor Karr. She hung her head a bit in shame when her gaze had passed over her. This was probably the first time in the history of Hogwarts that a Prefect got in trouble and had to serve detention. Gods she was so embarrassed.

Her gaze passed over the other girls before locking back onto the Caretaker's gaze, not wanting to keep eye contact for too long she zoned out above his head and listened as both of the adults told them the rules they broke and how they were going to serve detention. Annie nodded along silently, thoughts flooding through her head. Was Professor Karr going to report back to Caradoc? Most likely. Would she get her prefect badge taken away even though she had only attended this event, not even meaning to attend it in the first place? Who knows, she could just hope nothing too bad would happen to her or she'd have a lot of explaining to do to her mother, which she did not want to do.

Annie blinked from her daze as the Caretaker and Professor Karr dismissed them to clean up the library without magic. She turned to Katrina who looked crestfallen. It wasn't the poor girl's fault, she simply wanted to have fun and maybe didn't read or know the library rules all that well. Without a word she helped fold up the blankets, get the pillows all in a pile on top of the mattresses to be put away. The brunette then took a handful of books and sorted them back into their collective spots, a small sigh escaped her lips.

Sure they hadn't intended to ruin their fun but that's how it ended up, an excited girl just wanting to have fun gets punished as well as a bunch of younger students just because they wandered into the library to go partake in the event. It had barely begun anyways and she knew even if they hadn't been caught they would have cleaned up until the place looked like perfection again. Stupid flyers.. Annie huffed and mentally rolled her eyes before her sarcastic and negative thoughts were pulled away by the sounds of Katrina's sobs.

The Prefect glanced around, her part of the work was done and it seemed that they were wrapping up their cleaning pretty quickly. She made her way over to the Gryffindor girl who had just apologized for the second time to the Professor Karr and the Caretaker again. The heart wrenching action made Annie feel sad and get defensive for the girl but she reined herself back in. The brunette put a small hand on her back and rubbed it in circles, comfortingly. "Katrina it's not your fault, sure you planned it but don't blame yourself, sometimes we overlook rules. I mean even I own up to my mistakes for not stopping you sooner had I seen the flyers I would've let you know. Don't feel bad."

She knew words and actions might not help the girl currently but it's all she could do to offer her support. Annie had a tight lipped look on her face as she made eye contact with Professor Karr and, more slowly made eye contact with the Caretaker, ignoring the prickle of her neck hairs. "We have done our part, the library is back to normal and we have obviously learned our lessons, may we leave and return to our common rooms or wherever we are headed to next?"

Janet had been having a great time, laughing and chatting with the other girls in her pajamas, too bad the relaxed atmosphere was soon to be obliterated.

She didn't even have to turn around to notice something was wrong, two adults who were obviously teachers stood threateningly in front of the entrance, glaring at the pajama clad girls. One of them started reading from a piece of parchment, listing off exactly all the rules they had broken and why they were in trouble, the other one continued, adding a few more reasons why they were guilty. Ugh Janet couldn't believe this party was being ruined, it had been such a great idea and had started out so well. She turned away and silently began to carry out their punishment, they were to take down the fort without punishment which wasn't actually very bad. Well, at least in Janet's history of punishments, but that wasn't saying very much as the mischevious and adventurous gryffindor was always getting into trouble. But normally she was an expert at avoiding being caught... Well what could you expect when you had signs pointing teachers and care takers to the scene of the crime? Janet went over to the "talking area" of the pillow fort and positioned herself behind a blanket where she was hidden from the view of the adults (who would probably object to her stepping on the bottom shelf of the bookshelves to reach up to the sheets).
Katrina turned to the other girls and apologized for "getting them in this mess", Janet waved a hand and discarded it.
"Ah don't worry, this fort was a great idea, if I had thought of it I would've 100% have gone ahead with it, it's just rotten luck we got caught that's all."
Anyway, it was a strange thing to say but Janet sort of enjoyed getting in trouble, it was probably the thrilling risk you took every time you chanced doing something against the rules. And wait til she told Ariana that she had gotten a detention before her! The two partners in crime had a sort of competition between them, to get into the most trouble before the other, and detentions were really the only way to judge it. Once Janet had pulled down some sheets she started to fold them, not really bothering with neatness. The faster she could put them away the sooner she could go gloat to Ari.

Marcus' Intimidation is in effect.
It is a sentiment that enters people's hearts when they are in your presence. They feel dis-ease when you are present, even if the interaction is casual or even friendly.
"Don't mind if I do," Marcus said, grinning a little bit as he accepted the offer of pretzels. No eating in the library? That rule didn't apply to he and Professor @Kateri Karr. His eyes turned back to the girls who were now meant to be cleaning up, only to see that the one with the blue streak in her hair was confessing to the crime. As he had already said, he couldn't care less who had set it up. They all partook in the rule-breaking event, so the blame was really on all of them. Marcus chose to ignore the girl and her sniffling, continuing to snack on his handful of pretzels. All he could do was hope she wouldn't start crying, of all things.

"This library is impressive," he mentioned to his colleague, his eyes drifting upwards to the tall stacks of books. He used to be a reader, years and years ago. With all this material, perhaps he should get back into it, but... he should probably get used to his caretaking duties before he picked up any extra hobbies.

His amber eyes focused on the other girls now. The blonde one that had intrigued him before (Miranda) had set straight to work, no tears in sight. The brunette in the blue pajamas (Annie) was also hard at work, silently folding blankets. At least they were being obedient and not making a fuss, like the teal-streaked one. It only took a matter of minutes with the five girls working on it until the fort came down and the area was restored to its original state. The girls would be expected to take te extra furniture and bedding back to where they had gotten it.

Marcus' eyes landed back on the teal-streaked girl who was approaching Professor Karr. He quirked an eyebrow at the way she ignored his presence, though he didn't take it personally. Perhaps she had a connection to Professor Karr and was genuinely remorseful for letting her down. Marcus straightened up and took a step away from the crying girl, under the guise of watching the others. Crying did not sit well with him. Why was she even crying? It's not like they had yelled at the kids. All he had done was tell them to clean up. The word detention had never even left his mouth.

Suddenly, several of the other girls surrounded the teal-streaked one, comforting her. Marcus had to work hard not to comment on the sight, and he pursed his lips. The one in blue turned to the professor and then made eye contact with him. Marcus' amber eyes bore into her blue ones as she asked if they could leave. He tilted his head slightly, noticing how uncomfortable she looked. He was used to that sort of reaction, and he crossed his arms as he returned her gaze.

"You may leave," he said with a nod. Now he averted his eyes to the last girl left cleaning (Lailaflora). "She can handle putting away the last of the books," Marcus said. Once the girls left, he'd be sure to ask Professor Karr if she knew their names and if they had a habit of breaking rules.
@Katrina Walker, @Annie Morgan, @Janet Jackson, @Miranda Everest have completed detention requirements. @Lailaflora Ruby still needs 400 words.

Katrina hated the fact that she was crying. She was almost a third year for goodness sake. She should be able to get her emotions in control. Katrina could feel the gaze of the tall intimidating man on her. Who was he anyway? Well, he was someone who was probably going to think down of her and judge her for eternity.

Katrina felt Annie come up beside her and she could hardly keep herself from hugging the prefect. She just felt so bad and was so embarrassed. A wave of emotional hormones crashed down on her and it was all she could do not to sink to the floor and sob for a few hours. Instead, she wiped the tears away and took a deep breath, hoping that could prevent her from crying anymore. The other girl came up beside Katrina too. There was something in her tone that confused Katrina, it was like this was thrilling for her, not devastating.

Annie turned to the adults and asked if they could be dismissed. The scary man dismissed them but Katrina thought about hanging around. She still had several rounds up to the Gryffindor Common Room.

In order to maintain a bit of her dignity, Katrina didn't say anything more. Instead, she stacked all of the sheets up and started off to the Gryffindor Common Room. She was back quickly (however, not so quick to indicate that she may have sped down the stairs in order to get it all done quicker). Her second load was most of the pillows put in a sheet and carried over her shoulder like Santa's bag of gifts. Her nest few loads continued in silence, each mattress took a trip each. By the time that most of the materials were away, Katrina was panting and sweating. It had been so much easier setting it up.

By now it seemed the other girls had left. Katrina took her last load of the small side tables to the Common Room and returned with a slightly better attitude. She was done groveling and self-pitying. Katrina approached the two adults and shoved aside her bashfulness, instead being open and more reserved.

"Is there a copy of the rules anywhere that I could reread?" Katrina was glad that her voice didn't break. It took far more effort than she had expected making eye contact with the professor and, strange man.

So much for having fun.

To the Professor's delight, and partial shock, the students had quickly accepted their fate and worked on bringing the Library back to it's original state. Crunching through another pretzel, Katrina finished with her tasks had returned and given a teary eyed apology. Still feeling drained, Kateri gave the girl a small sigh. Even if she was disappointed, it had been a good idea in truth to try and get students to come together for a laugh or two after how the year was ending. She couldn't fault the young lion for trying. In her youth, Kateri might have done the same and probably had, not that she could shake up any memory of her school days on her current lack of sleep...and food. The Hufflepuff Prefect's words stirred her back to reality. Strange... she even admit to her own lack of responsibility but at the same time brushed aside the rules. Perhaps it was the hangry little knot dwelling in the pit of her stomach but the badger's tone and words hadn't translated well to the professor. Twice caught up in trouble... Kateri might have to keep a close watch on her.

Marcus' compliment on the Library filtered back into her thoughts as she hoped another pretzel would quell the beast settling itself in her stomach. She had been about to answer when Katrina had cut her off mid thought with an apology. Giving him a

"It is.. This is truthfully the first time I've come in here." A tour of the castle had been on her list since coming but duties called her attention away before she could really make it to every spot at Hogwarts. Not yet anyway. "I thought the one at Ilvermorny was rather intense but this seems almost overwhelming in comparison. From what I remember anyway." She wondered if Marcus hadn't attended Hogwarts either from his comment, watching him from the corner of her eye as a tiny shiver trickled up her spine again. It sent the hairs on her arm on edge. There was a familiarity to him... but also something that tugged at her to keep a distance. Strange. In some ways it made her all the more curious.

Task completed and Marcus giving them the go ahead to leave, Kateri trying to hide the smirk that crossed her lips, Katrina spoke up once more asking about a list of the castle rules. She couldn't help it... Something about the girl reminded her of well-

"I'll send them along in an owl to you Miss Walker, just in case." She gave the girl a smile and let out a long breath. "I appreciate what you were trying to do... Your heart was in the right place." For all the girl had been through, Kateri couldn't help but give in a little and soften at the look on the cub's face. Student's breaking rules was something to take seriously. Not just to ruin fun but recently with how things had been at Hogwarts in many cases it was for safety as well as to keep the school running as well... a school. Leaning back against the table again, snacks in hand and giving a glance towards the Library exit. "Keep an eye out for my owl but you best bring the last of the things to the lion den before you're in even hotter water." Nodding towards the exit, Kateri urged the girl to take her leave gently. She didn't want to hurry her along but those pretzels had done absolutely nothing and the thought of lunch was almost making the woman drool. At this point if nothing was out in the Hall still, Kateri figured she could give Marcus the next best thing on a list of touring locations. The Kitchens.
