Dmitri relished the fact that he was able to aid his team in something so barbaric as a fist-fight—even if it was, ultimately, for another motive whatsoever. He watched with unmasked glee as his kick landed squarely on the girl's chest and launched her straight towards another of her teammates, knocking both students prone.

Though he didn't exactly enjoy being reduced to letting fists and kicks fly, one thing he did like doing was winning. And so far, they were doing quite a job at it.

Of course, living up to his Slytherin nature, the boy's unexpected will to let his fists do the talking was all done for a greater purpose.

He had to let the audience and whoever authority there was in the "fight club" think he was playing the game. That he was just as clueless and naive as the others.

Even back when a mysterious random boy was outlining the rules, the blonde-haired Slytherin already had an inkling of exactly what risks they were taking. None of these other students knew the peril they were in—a peril that Dmitri took all of one round to fully realize. After the first blows were made, the others would have seen the older Slytherin take a few steps to the side, foregoing the next round to be left to his thoughts, fists dropped to his side. The resulting scuffle would have given him enough time to do so.

It was very convenient, he thought to himself. For anyone who was planning to eliminate most of a well-renowned competitive house (for whatever reason—though in the back of his mind, he suspected the same reasons as the spider attack), it would be immensely convenient to dangle a prize in front of a prideful, overachieving, impressionable group of children to fight each other over. Once most of the horde of students were exhausted, it would be the perfect time to stage an attack.

And all of them would be too worn out to fight back.

A chill went down Dmitri's spine at how exactly fucked they were right now.

His eyes flickered and roamed all over the place as his mind flashed through different ways they all can get out of here. The no-magic thing might just be face-value, maybe they could still use their wands. And even if they can't, he will find what's stopping their magic and destroy it.

It frustrated him that the only magical weapon he had perfect control over might be rendered useless, but he will do everything to regain control over it. Dmitri has already proven that it isn't the tattoo that hindered them from casting—he conjured a spider well enough outside of the fight club.

Erik relished at the sight of blood and how his prey's head turned into a bloated, bruised and almost disformed grape. It turned blue in a matter of seconds. He laughed out loud as he taunted the much smaller boy. Man, that scrawny little thing of a girl had more spine then you do! She even fought back, if not for long. You however seemed to have developed a taste for my fists. Now eat some more! The wolf inside him screamed in his thoughts. YES! FEED ME WITH ANGER! FEED ME WITH RAGE! I DEMAND BLOOD! DON'T LET HIM WALK AWAY FROM THIS RING! DON'T LET HIM WALK EVER AGAIN!

Infuriated by his own ineptitude of not tearing this boy to shreds already he invigorated his own efforts to absolutely destroy his prey. To Erik the younger Slytherin wasn't a person anymore. No, he had deminished him to nothing. He was the hunter and the boy had been so foolish to become its prey.

Since no one, but Erik seemed to have paid her any mind in removing Amara from the ring, she appeared to do so successfully. Once her body was outside of the marked ring, she would abandon the body. When Erik looked at her even for just the moment, San didn’t see Erik in his eyes. She saw the animal behind them, and no one else seemed to care that he wasn’t just going to stop at the opposing team when he was done. He would turn on them all if he wasn’t stopped.

A lot of people had seen Santario put herself into harm's way before, except, perhaps, maybe anyone here. That would change today. Santario ran around the ringside, trying to get close to Erik before entering it again. “ERIK LOOK AT ME!” She screamed at him, trying to get his attention off the others even if it meant her getting hit by him. She would not actively try to dodge his advance if he did so. “This isn’t you, Erik, you need to fight this! This isn't you! You are better than this!”

If Erik moved to another target, she would follow him, still trying to stop him, to stop this. If anything, she hoped she was providing a distraction so that he would miss his targets in the least, and if he continued to ignore her, she would reach out to grab his arm—anything to get his attention locked on her and keep it there.

As one of the people placed in one of the last teams paired against each other for the first rung, Jack was most definitely nervous. He had hoped that more people would take Flash's advice to not fight and knew better to expect everyone to, but the reality of seeing kids their age going all out against each other without a shred of remorse or hesitation in some cases was jarring. It reminded him what mindless animals humans could degrade into when given half the chance to let go of their inhibitions.

He himself had never known real physical power; not the thrill of using one's own strength against another and coming out on top. However, if it was anything like the rush he got from winning an argument, he knew there was no stopping the addiction to the adrenaline rush once it started. It was too enticing, particularly for kids who had just spent their first year at a wizarding school as the lowest group in the Hogwarts caste system; ambitious kids, at that. Of course, they would have likely had enough of being helpless, particularly after having suffered during events such as the spider attack and the chaotic mess at the Blossom Ball. Now was their chance to let out all their pent up rage and prove to themselves just as much as to the assembled, betting crowd and their fellow schoolmates that they were not as powerless as they may have previously seemed.

However, Jack wasn't about to let others catch on to his fears and anxiety if he could help it. While Erik turned out to be a bit more of a disappointment to him than expected, the taller boy - the one Jack had met in Professor Jensen's office once before - had him curious. Ruby, at least, seemed reasonable enough, but the upperclassman whose name was still unknown to the Welsh boy struck him as rather arrogant. Arrogant people, as Jack knew well enough, could tend to underestimate others and end up being rather easily defeated.

Though he wanted to talk a little more to the nameless student who Jack only knew by the number seventeen, he was distracted by Victor's addressing a number thirteen - Santario Martin. The former third year mentioned some names which Jack wasn't familiar with, but from the way Santario reacted, she certainly seemed to know who they were.

He was oh-so-sorely tempted to go over to ask Santario about the people Victor had named, but students from both teams were already making their moves. Though Jack had meant to stay as close to Victor for as long and as often as he could during the matches, it seemed a rather eager young lady from the other side wanted to try having a go at him anyway.

Jack wouldn't have blamed her all that much, maybe, unsure of herself as she seemed. He did, after all, seem like the best target of all the others in his group. However, when she got close, he recognized her as the girl who had tried to give Victor CPR after he'd been burned; likely an excuse just to be able to kiss a boy. He hadn't thought very highly of her then and he most certainly didn't now.

Though he didn't fight back, opting to try to keep out of range (as he had hoped not to enter the ring at all in the first place, but might have depending on what Victor had responded when he'd talked to him earlier), Jack found himself caught from behind by his opponent and sucker-punched to the back of his neck. With a short yelp, he fell to his knees before trying to get back up and return to Victor's side. He couldn't afford to let his fragile upperclassman remain unprotected even for an instant.

However, the first year was surprised to find that the unknown, bleach-haired upperclassman from before not only shared his and Flash's views on the system Victor had mentioned but came to the Welsh boy's own rescue once Amara attacked in spite of the suggestion not to fight. The redhead frowned. As much as he hated to say it, he would owe the taller young man for that.

Meanwhile, Erik's animalistic response nearly regarding tearing off his sweater and his bloodthirsty grin, half scared Jack to death, causing the younger Slytherin's eyes to widen and his complexion to pale. He took an involuntary step back from his teammate, still keeping himself between Victor and the others while hoping to remain out of the ring. Amara tried attacking him again, but this time he was ready for her. Did she hold some sort of grudge against him, as he did for her by her awful, naive attempt to 'help' Victor when he was burned, or was she just attacking for the sake of attacking? Whatever the case, he was not impressed by her apparent brainlessness then, nor now, and watched her with equal parts contempt and disdain.

The other boys fought back against her for him, so Jack was content to remain where he was, positioned as Victor's self-appointed bodyguard, but somehow Amara still wouldn't relent in her attempt to get at him. Amazed she was still trying, he actually got kicked in the side while stunned from surprise but was still not terribly hurt. By the end of the round, the one knocked out was Amara, not him.

Foolish, he thought with chagrin, staring at her prone form on the floor.

By then, Santario appeared to have gotten ahold of herself and she and Victor had exchanged a few more words before she tried to move Amara's body out of the ring. Jack watched her warily, but kept glancing between their team and his own teammates. Erik was really starting to worry him, now. He looked for a minute like he was confused, but then his expression was clouded by what Jack might have thought was some silent, inner conflict. What was that? Was there a voice in his head too, or was he just...fighting with himself - his more primitive, violent nature at his core?

The new kid who Jack didn't recognize from their school was Erik's next target, and while the Welsh boy found himself feeling somewhat sorry for the eager, younger kid, his primary concern was still Victor. He stood his ground, ready to protect the older, dark-haired young man with his life or die trying, though he sincerely hoped it wouldn't come to the latter. Even so, he still knew that for all his weaknesses, he was still less delicate than the former burn victim at his back.

It wasn't until he saw the bleach-haired fellow from before reach behind to touch his...butt cheek? Oh, no...his back pocket...that Jack really began to worry, however. His eyes narrowed and he frowned, wondering what the guy was up to.

Meanwhile, Santario seemed to be trying to calm down a raging Erik. Jack didn't trust himself to interfere, as he didn't know either of the others very well, so he left Erik to Santario and called out to the bleach-haired boy (@Dmitri Jones) with his hands cupped over his mouth.

"Hey!" he called. "What are you doing?!"

Shit. Cursing in his head, Jack glanced back over his shoulder at Victor, wanting to reassure himself of the other boy's safety. Should he reach for his own wand...? He doubted the bleach-haired Slytherin's spell would work, but if it did, he could cancel it with a Freezing Charm of his own, right? How likely would that be to stop him if he was older and more powerful than Jack, though?

Well...still. It was better to attempt it than to not do anything, he thought.

This was an absolute joke. The girl was not one to fight for no reason, despite having trained in various fighting styles growing up. When Amara was knocked out, the girl was shocked. She had seen Erik on the quidditch field and she knew he was a werewolf from rumors she had heard. He was not one to mess with, and most certain one student she did not want to face. However, he took down one of their teammates too quickly without hesitation. Anger raged in her and she paced the room watching the others, unsure of what would happen from everyone else.

She had waited long enough, the time had come and there was blood to be spilled (hopefully). She charged at Erik, hoping to at least injure the boy enough to get him to back down from the meaningless fighting. If they could only work together instead of fighting each other, they could potentially take down the people whose perverted thoughts believed making young children fight against each other like animals was a good idea.

Amara had started a reckless attack, the other team had quickly dealt with her. Her teammates let that happen. Was it shock, fear or indifference? It did not matter, she was swiftly taken down and there was no need to intercede on her behalf, Santario would do so in the moderator's stead. The boys did not care about the little girl as she struggled under her peer's weight. She would pull the Slytherin out of the ring.

@Santario Martin refused to fight. Her unwillingness to defeat her opponents or defend her adversaries might be their downfall. Erik was in immediate peril. Santario tried to draw his attention away from his quarry. They might be friends, this might be a misguided attempt to save his immortal soul or this might be a means by which she ended his quest for supremacy.

[No rolls for this.]

“ERIK LOOK AT ME!”

Erik's eyes were on his prey, @Calvon Faux. They were not on Santario's, but if they fell on her he might regret it. Seeing that look on her face. being distracted by her beauty. Being tricked to look away...

The small, not well-defended target would not last long. Erik would assail Calvon.
Erik jabs Calvon Faux.
Attack 19 (roll) + 4 (attack accuracy) + 5 (accuracy)
Evasion 19 + 5 (evasion)

The poor boy's unfortunate inauguration to House Slytherin would be a beat down. Barely standing after the werewolf's ceaseless assault, Tyranni would come to Calvon's defense avenge Amara.@Tyranni Whitethorn was not going to stay out of the fight after all. The fight she apparently reviled. She would charge @Erik Tharldson, the viscous werewolf that dealt the felling blow to Amara.
Tyranni attempts to sucker punch Erik.
Wisdom (Tyranni) 17 (roll) + 2 (wisdom)
Wisdom (Erik) 4 (roll) + 6 (wisdom)

Possibly distracted by San's pleas, Tyranni would take this opportunity and slug her housemate. Erik would taste blood in his mouth, his head would swim. The girl had the strength of an irate clawless kitten, but it was still the first time the boy felt any semblance of pain. Something or someone willing to fight back. But the boys was if nothing else focused. The savior of House Slytherin, his body marred by the cursed venom of those dark spiders. The wretched pure blood, his line and legacy defiled by lycantrophy. The brawler.

@Jack Burnett was the target of Amara's initial onslaught. Her reasoning undeclared. Perhaps a romantic rivalry or betrayal of some sort. He would step in front of Victor. "I don't need your help," Victor would hiss. "Just get out of here!" He would grimace at his injuries. Jack would feel an ice cold hand on his shoulder. He would feel a gentle tug, the boy was embarrassingly weak. "I am fine!"

Not that Jack would listen. He was as stubborn as they came. He would stand between Victor and the arena, his eyes set on Dmitri Jones the tall blonde pretty one. He was already distracting enough, but he was also acting shady. Shadiness was a perpetual state for the teen of course, but it drew the eyes.

In this case @Dmitri Jones was a reckless fool. He knew that casting spells was a bad idea. He had seen others try and fail, yet he would going to try anyways. Dmitri would discreetly touch his chestnut wand hiding in his back pocket and whisper a Rictusempra to test if the spell works—on himself.

"Rictusempra..."

As warned it did not work, it backfired. No, the attack did not hit his intended target nor did the spell hit one of his allies or enemies. The spell did nothing at all. As for the reason why, there was a simple one that he might fail to consider as the length of chesnut remained in his back pocket.

"Hey! What are you doing?!"

Jack would shout, drawing attention to Dmitri's duplicity. Nobody would care much about the boy, nothing happened. Nothing obvious in any case. Did it fail because he had done something wrong or because of something in the setting. He would default with the later (per his already defined actions).
Observation (Dmitri)
DC: 20

He would see it. Something that he wished he could unsee. A darkness that seemed to meander about the room, disembodied and without form. Like a fog that was near impossible to notice. There was something where the darkness would momentarily linger.

Whatever it was, it was a skill well beyond a fourth year. Either Victor was well educated or there was someone or something else running the show. Vladimir? Someone else entirely?

Erik would try to take down Calvon, making short work of the youth who had done nothing to defend himself. Had he even gotten into the ring? No matter!
Erik Cross Punches Calvon Faux
Attack 13 (roll) + 5 (accuracy)
Evasion 8 + 5
That was all that was necessary to end poor Calvon. That would be Erik's second victim of the day, someone he had landed the final blow upon. What could a little girl like Tyranni do? She had the consummate power of a house-pet. She had to try, Erik was right in front of her. He was out of control. If she did not take him out, who would!
Tyranni attempts to uppercut Erik
Attack 9 (roll) + 7 (accuracy)
Evasion 1 (roll) + 6 (evasion)
Erik now suffers from the disoriented secondary effect where there is a 5% chance that they will auto-miss their attacks for the next 3 rounds.
Damage: 40 (510 health remains)
Perhaps Santario was to blame, with her statless attempt to grab onto Erik's arm. To deter him from combat that caused him to stumble. The sickening click of his teeth as his jaw was forced shut, Tyranni's small fist would shoot upward and draw the boy's head back. He would stagger, his mouth filled with a coppery taste. His feet would kick and stumble over Calvon's motionless form.

Erik could not be stopped. His blood lust was far from quenched. Tyranni was a gnat, a gnat that needed to be squashed. She was picking away at Erik's defenses. While she was not very powerful, she was scary accurate and the boy was feeling the lasting disorientation of her last unexpected blow.

While it might be considered uncouth to hit a girl, Erik was a modern man.
Erik uses Hook on Tyranni Whitethorn.
Attack 2 (roll) + 5 (Accuracy)
Evasion 2 (roll) + 7 (evasion)
Tyranni was nobody's punching bag. She would step back, Santario would try to restrain and distract him. It was two on one, Santario and Tyranni against the pure blood boy. This was not about playing fair, this was about winning.
Tyranni would attempt to Roundhouse kick Erik
Attack 6 (roll) - 4 (attack accuracy mod) + 7 (accuracy)
Evasion 6 (roll) + 6 (evasion)

Tyranni would miss, two for three in someone who was not a brawler was not bad. She was a surprising threat. A force of nature.

Erik was cutting through his opponents like a knife going through butter. So smoothly. He didn't even have to try to do anything though. They were basically asking for it. That much was sure. He couldn't be blamed for all of this right? I mean why would he be? It were the rules of the club after all. As his fist collided with Calvon's face, a familiar voice could be heard. ERIK LOOK AT ME! As Erik tried to locate the voice he was met with a punch to his face which caused his head to rear and left the taste of blood in his mouth.

When he cocked his head back to his assailant he saw a frail looking girl with brown hair. It was no one else, but his Quidditch Co-Captain. To the wolf inside it didn't matter whether his opponent was a boy or girl. As long as he could make them bleed. Make them hurt. Literally break them. WILL YOU JUST LET THIS HAPPEN?! THIS VERMIN DARES TO CHALLENGE YOU?! SHOW HER WHAT HEFTY PRICE SHE WILL PAY FOR HER AUDACITY! SHOW HER YOU ARE NOT TO BE MESSED WITH! WE HUNGER FOR HER BLOOD!

Erik made his hands into fists as he readied himself against his new opponent. You ready for this? I'll swat you like a fly. Just know this. You've brought this on yourself.

Could she have reached the real Erik inside? Possible if Tyr didn’t have a habit of sticking herself into situations and making them worse. As she swung on Erik and successfully hit them, Santario took a step back as she glared at the two. “Great, yeah, make it worse. Perfect choice of actions. Moron. She didn’t say it above the average soft speaking level that people were accustomed to, so whether she was actually heard over the dealt blows who knows, and quite frankly, she didn’t care. Slytherin was no longer a great house of pride; they were all a great house of absolute buffoons.

Santario took another few steps back and crossed her arms. “Hurry up and drop her Erik so I can help you.” She watched on unamused, not knowing whether Erik would swing on her when he was finished or not. Would seeing his friend be enough to stop the wolf within? Would it not stop until it was too late? Time would tell she didn’t know what was going on in his head, perhaps she never had a chance to stop him, but what kind of friend would she be if she didn’t try? So she would wait on the side until it was her turn to try and hopefully not have to dodge his potential onslaught.

Erik was enjoying this too much. The blood, the adrenaline. There was a primal aspect of his nature that demanded this brutal diversion. Nothing was going to deter him, not even Santario Martin.
