Ruby glared at Tsuki. She tried to hold back her anger for as long as possible, but it wasnt working. She walked up up to what she thought was her friend before. What had made Tsuki so mad about it? Gryffindors and slytherins are rivals. It had always been that way and it didn't seem like it was going to change.
"I don't need to know how to make friends with a slytherin, because guess what, its not happening. We are NOT becoming friends. I thought we were friends Tsuki. I thought I could trust you to be a good friend. I guess i was wrong." she ranted before heading towards the door after collecting her things from the table she was at. She was fed up of Tsuki. Leonard felt like less of a problem than Tsuki at that moment.
"You know what Tsuki, go ahead, be friends with a slytherin. If you want to have no other friends, just do it. I'm not going to stop you. No gryffindor wants to be friends with a slytherin or someone who is friends with a slytherin. You will end up with no gryffindor friends. Even I will stop being your friend." she said as she opened the door and walked out.

Tsuki shrugged. "If you like you could use a portkey to the Savannah! You won't have to communicate with me then!" She called after Ruby.
She turned back to Leonard. "Could we play the game a bit later? We have a um... problem here? With um- Ruby... And all the stuff she said about you- um isn't true..." she blushed slightly.
Ruby paused in the corridor and gave her a glare, before she ran to the Gryffindor tower.
Tsuki ran after her, then looked behind herself. She waved bye to Leonard and raced after Ruby.
She caught up with her easily and grabbed her shoulders.
"Listen. I only met him yesterday." she hissed into her ear.
"You were talking to a SLYTHERIN! Get your hands off me! Ruby growled.
Tsuki looked hurt slightly then recovered quickly. "What's so bad with talking to a Slytherin? He's actually really nice, so you shouldn't be so stuck up! Whats wrong with you? Where and when did u actually meet him?"
"Yesterday in the corridor. A heated conversation about houses. And all I can say is that he is an idiot like the rest of them. And so are you."
Ruby muttered the password to the fat lady and entered the common room. Tsuki followed after she said 'mimbulus mimbletonia'.

"Why are you following me? Don't you want to talk to your new friend?" She asked angrily.
She glared at Tsuki before calming down.
"Where did you meet him and when? Why do you think he's different, he's obviously NOT."
"I met him yesterday in the library. Trust me, he's different." Tsuki replied
"Why would I trust you if you were speaking to a SLITHERIN?!"she responded.
Tsuki didn't answer.
"How about a game on exploding snap?" asked Tsuki, holding out a pack of cards.
"Fine" Ruby muttered.
After many rounds of exploding snap, Ruby finally felt herself again. She apologised to Tsuki about what had happened earlier. Then she returned to the library to continue her book and do some homework. Ruby finished her book, a new record, finished a book in exactly 32 minutes. Her homework however probably had the record for taking the longest time EVER, well for her at least. She hated homework, why did it have to exist? Just as she finished it she heard footsteps coming from behind her, she knew who it was, it was Tsuki and/or Leonard. She was done now, it wouldn't matter if Tsuki wanted to do something that would take a while.

He was stunned. Sort of. More, a mixture of amused, mad, and bewildered. It was a weird feeling, for weird company.

So the first girl might have not been as bad as expected. She wasn’t much trouble, really. If not for his untreatable policy to finish absolutely anything and everything he did, he would be happy to just leave her alone. A fun competition, he and her would’ve had. The second? There was quite a lot to unload. Even his mind, the mind named the second Barnum (though this was less for his creativity and more for his tendency to lie and insult others), needed a moment to think about his response.

There were millions of questions. First, how did she know his name? That was fairly simple once he thought about it. He didn’t know much about girls, or friendship, but he did know that trust was part of it all. A friend tells another friend what, or whom, was bothering them. This added to the case of the first girl, who he mentally referred to as Checker Hater, was not as bad as she seemed. At least she said his name, not an insult.

When the two stormed out, he was at a loss. Humans were so exasperating. No matter, he could do more research on Quidditch. His few acquaintances were fanatics of the sport, and such acquaintances were to be valued.

When he saw the second, Ruby, mentally referred to as Moronic Lion, he decided to come up to her. Maybe show her that Slytherins were not, in fact, evil incarnate, and Gryffindor were not as shallow as to judge someone based on the colour of their clothing. The only place he’d heard of that was Anne Frank’s diary.

“Oi. Ruby, is it? No matter. I’ve got a Gryffindor friend. His name’s Alec Mason, you might know him. He doesn’t care if I’m a Slytherin. Nobody in this school cares if you are a Slytherin unless you’re trying to get into their common room. Nobody cares! We’re not all bad. Really, you’re worst than most of us. Threatening to abandon your friend because she wants other friends. If anything, she deserves a better friend.”

Tsuki paused when Ruby stopped. She looked behind her.
"what now?!" she screamed inside her head. She pushed Ruby out of her way and went to the Gryffindor tower, tears of frustration in her eyes. She didn't look back.

That evening, she was in the library again, sitting in the corner, not doing anything. She was trying to calm down from all the rude things Ruby said about her, such as Orphan, Nerd, blah blah blah...
She held her head in her hands and propped her elbows up on the table. She didn't care if Ruby threatened her. She didn't care a single bit if someone insulted her. All she wanted was to be free from chaos.

Tsuki got up and started looking for a book to read. She tried to memorise her favourite scenes from Haikyuu and picture them in her head, but how could she?
Her shoulders drooped slightly. All she could do was take everything in and deal with it.
She cursed Ruby under her breath. Tsuki approached the Magical creatures section of the library and picked a few books to read, then headed back to the table where she left her things.

She looked back at all the horrors in her past. Her parents getting murdered by an escaped Azkaban prisoner, getting laughed at in muggle school, trying to tell the muggle teacher that she didn't set the computer on fire, even though she did (with her eyes), the older muggle kids bullying her about the scar over her eye and being a nerd...

Ruby walked up to Leonard, who had just confronted her.
"1. I don't care about your friends. 2. I was really mad yesterday because-well it doesn't matter does it? 3. I only threatened Tsuki because I was mad and finally 4. I wouldn't mind a slytherin friend, it would be a change for me, just like it was a change for Tsuki. I still don't fully trust you though and I still kinda hate you as well so we would be more frenemies. Also, if you were wondering how I know your name, I'll tell you now. Do you remember yesterday when you met the gryffindor girl and had a heated conversation about houses? You might recognise me, that girl was me, I could tell you were confused when I said your name by the look on your face when I said your name." she said before walking off.

That evening, Ruby walked into the library. She noticed Tsuki. Ruby could tell she was still mad at her. She could see the tears of anger running down her cheeks. She knew by Tsuki's distressed face that she should leave her alone. Apparently apologising wasn't good enough for Tsuki. Ruby decided to ignore her friend and do what she was there for. She walked over to a table and sat down, hoping to be left alone herself.

Tsuki started reading her book. You could clearly see that she was distressed. Why was Ruby so mean? Even if she had apologised, that is not going to change her mood.
She turned the page.
Ruby didn't have control over her life! If she, Tsuki, wanted to be friends with a Slytherin she could! If she wanted to hate a person, she could!
And anyway, she only met Leonard yesterday in the library. Fat chance that he will forget how rude she was then. She could clearly his tone in her head. It sounded annoyed. Angry.
She flicked to the next page. Tsuki didn't want Ruby within a 100 mile radius of her. She knew that if Ruby stayed 100 mile radius out of her way, it would mean that the radius would cover the whole map of Earth.

She looked up from her book and glanced round. She narrowed her eyes at the sight of Ruby.
Tsuki actually wanted to play a muggle game with Leonard right now, as he offered before. Before RUBY barged in and ruined every single thing.
She turned the next page. Then the next. Then the next. She continued reading quickly then fell asleep with her head on the table.

Psychologists often used statistics, as he had read, to justify their theories. Leonard used statistics as well to aid his analysis of others, and for most of his life, it had worked. Most being the operative word.

Gryffindors sure knew how to mess things up. Or, at the very least, those two Gryffindors. One minute, it was a simple task. Challenge a girl that imposed a threat to his trash of a social status to benefit his fragile ego to a competition which he would inevitably win. The next, he was being yelled at about the inherent superiority of their so-called heroic house. And the next, he was a catalyst in destroying a deteriorating friendship between the two idiots, one of whom he was potentially gaining respect for, for whatever reason.

He walked right past Ruby, fast as he could without alerting the librarian. She was an enigma, and not the good kind. More, the kind that would be best left unsolved. Or, better yet, untouched.

He shook Tsuki awake. At least she was likeable, and not nearly as confusing. His mind might’ve been able to comprehend calculus, albeit with work, but understanding Ruby? Impossible. Utterly, completely, impossible.

“Oi. I’ve got my cards now. What do you want to play? Hearts, Crazy Eights, Go Fish. If you’re feeling a little rebellious, Rummy’s on the table. And, I’ve also got my dice, so we could do Craps. Also, I think your friend is awful.”

Ruby whipped around to face Leonard.
"What did you just say about me?" Ruby said glaring at Leonard who was standing next to Tsuki. "I am here you know, and I can hear you."
Ruby turned away suddenly feeling hurt. It was all her fault. She sighed before putting her head down on the table. It had been just one thing she had said. Everyone hated her now. She sighed again as she sat up. She opened a book and started to read. It usually helped her calm down. Not this time. It wasn't working. She wasn't calming down. She thought about trying to get Tsuki to forgive her, but she knew it wouldn't work. She decided it was best to leave Tsuki alone and just get ignored. Left alone. She returned to reading her book, it would let people know that she didn't want to be disturbed, hopefully. After a few chapters, she took her things and walked towards the door, she looked back, Leonard and Tsuki were talking, as if they had been friends all their life. Ruby felt a tear trying to run down her cheek, but she stopped it, she couldn't cry. She walked out of the library hoping not to be followed.]

From the point Tsuki awakes

Tsuki woke up after Leonard shook her awake.
"Er-m.. what happened exactly? Did I miss anything? Did I fall asleep?" she asked confused.
She noticed Ruby and narrowed her eyes. "Ruby the rude is back with her satchel of insults. What are you going to call me now?"
She got up and brushed down her robes, then grabbed the book she was reading. Tsuki disappeared out of sight behind a bookshelf. She slot it back into its place with a thud and returned to her place.
“Oi. I’ve got my cards now. What do you want to play? Hearts, Crazy Eights, Go Fish. If you’re feeling a little rebellious, Rummy’s on the table. And, I’ve also got my dice, so we could do Craps. Also, I think your friend is awful.” Leonard muttered.

Tsuki looked guiltily across to Ruby, who was reading in the corner. She could sense the sulk and frustration raise from around her fellow Gryffindor friend. Well, was her friend.

"I don't mind what we play. Anything really, just not an expert at muggle games." she replied quietly.
Tsuki put her ink bottles, spare parchment and quills back into her bag with her completed homework.
