"No, they only speak Korean," Aaron confirmed of his grandparents. He tilted his head when she went on to say that it must be hard to live in a country and not know the language. Then he understood the confusion. "Oh! Well, they live in Korea," he said, realizing he had not clarified that detail either. "We visit them there every year."

Dealla proceeded to theorize as to why he would switch to a certain language sometimes - that it had to do with who he was talking to. Her saying it aloud like that made him nod along in agreement, even though he had no concrete idea if that was why. But it made sense when he thought about it. "Makes sense to me," he said in agreement, offering a smile at her explanation.

Then they spoke of the translation spell. And Dealla suggested they could invent one! Inventing a spell? Wow, was that a career option in the wizarding world? Inventing cool spells? Maybe he already had a knack for it if there really wasn't a translation spell out there! "That'd be really cool," he said, mirroring Dealla's grin at the idea of inventing it. "I wonder if there is a spell creation class here at Hogwarts."

And then the conversation moved on to what he had originally come to the lake for - taekwondo. He nodded when she said she wanted to learn the routine he had been doing. "Yeah, I can definitely show you! It's really straightforward," he told her with a smile. That said, he went on to detail to her all of the moves. Joonbi, low block, front stance. Then he showed her the order in which to do them. (OOC: You can check out the youtube video in the first post to see the explanation of all the moves!)

When she asked about belt colors while he was showing her the moves, he perked up a bit. "I was a green belt when I left my dojang. I was really close to getting a blue stripe though!" He was still a bit upset that he had not been able to advance further before having to step away from the dojang. But of course he couldn't study there for only two months a year and expect to advance. So he would do what he could from here. "The order goes white, yellow, green, blue, red, then black, and then there are different levels to black. And in between the colors are stripes to advance. It's kinda complicated sounding, but I can draw it out for you sometime," he offered.

After showing her the moves a few more times, he stepped away from being beside her. Aaron now turned to face her head-on. He put his hands together and gestured for her to do the same. "Wanna try the whole routine? It starts by bowing."

"Oh!" Dee's eyes lit up in realisation. "Oh, yeah, that makes sense. You did mention visiting them in Korea, I could have figured that out by myself." It had just gotten lost in her musings about languages and how cool it would be to be bilingual. Honestly, she was a little jealous. Why couldn't her parents be from a different country? But no, she was as English as could be. Maybe some distant Scottish relative she'd never heard of if her family tree got really adventurous. But, well, she was young. She could just learn another language, right?

And if not, inventing a translation spell would surely make up for that. At Aaron's question, Dee grinned, brightly, and shrugged. "I don't think there's a class for that - at least my parents never mentioned one - but I'm not sure. But anyway, we learn about who invented which spells in class all the time, right? In Charms mostly, but all spells have to come from somewhere, right? So if they invented spells, why shouldn't we?" Her excitement grew the more she thought about it. That would be a pretty amazing spell, and a sure way to get her name out there. Kids in class could learn the spell she and Aaron invented. Honestly, she didn't have a clue how to go about inventing spells, but they could surely figure it out. She was smart, Aaron seemed bright too and knew two languages already, that was a good start.

But that would have to be left for later - definitely something she planned to come back to, though, given that she didn't just forget about it - as Aaron started demonstrating the moves he'd done earlier for her again.

Watching attentively, her eyes on his stance, analysing movements and angles, she tried to follow along, imitating his motions. She craned her neck so she could keep her eyes on him during the turns, which slightly threw off her balance, but all in all, it seemed rather straightforward. The way he lit up when asked about the colours drew her gaze up to his face again, a smile tugging on her lips that had been pressed together in concentration for the past few minutes. "Oh! You must have already been pretty good, then? Between the middle two levels? Which means you can teach me many things." She grinned at him brightly, maybe a hint of a challenge there. This was kind of fun, although she couldn't imagine using it to actually hit people. Still, it was... nice. The rhythm to it, performing the same motions as the boy next to her. Peaceful, somehow. She was glad that she'd gone out here this morning. Made a new friend, maybe found a new interest. It had turned out more interesting than she'd expected the day to be.

Straightening up when he stepped away, she nodded excitedly at his question, and imitated the way he put his hands together. The routine present in her mind, she readied herself to follow along - and then, maybe, pester him to show her some more things after.
