"I'm sure it would have taken an eternity for me to actually say something... so I guess I owe you one."
“You don’t owe me anything,” he said. All he did was speak up, which was something he didn’t do often enough. If anything, he should be thanking Lucille for giving him a reason to stick up for himself. She wore an awkward smile, but Wyatt didn’t return one of his own. People always told him he looked strange with a smile because he frowns so much it looks out of place, so he never did. He avoided eye contact so it didn’t look like he was “rejecting” her smile, though.
Wyatt looked back down at the book and closed it, carefully this time. He was sick of the dust flying in his face, and he was sure Lucille felt the same way. Turning, he put the book back where he found it, it’s glittery spine standing out beside the rows old, dark-colored books. Books actually meant for learning.
It was interesting though. He observed the differences for a moment before turning back to Lucille.
“What brings you to the Hogwarts library?”
It was a valid question. Who went to libraries on purpose? There were few things Wyatt hated more than reading, so he tried to avoid the library at all costs, but he really just needed somewhere quiet to get away from everything and everyone else at Hogwarts. Obviously, he had not found that place in the library since Lucille walked up and began a conversation. There were few things Wyatt hated more than conversations, so he tried to avoid those at all costs.

"Oh please,"Lucille started as she crossed her arms with a small smirk."You did something nice for me, so therefore when I deem it fit I'll try and do something nice for you."Lucille finished in a matter of fact tone.As Wyatt closed the Glittery mess of a book Lucille took a sigh of relief when no dust appeared.A small moment of silence continued once more, until Wyatt looked back at Lucille while asking why she was here in the first place.Lucille thought about the question for a moment,it wasn't as if the question was hard, but it only made Lucille think about her answer a bit more."I was sort of bored, so I just decided to come here to find somethin' interesting."The witch replied quite simply."What brings you here then huh?Lucille questioned him curiously."I'm pretty sure that you weren't eager to find a copy of 'Magical Me'."She added playfully.Though thinking back to when she found Wyatt with the book, it seemed pretty obvious the Slytherin boy wasn't that interested in the actual book."Why read a book your not interested in?"Lucille thought to herself, confused."Anyway..if you ever need help finding a certain subject I could help out."Lucille said as she looked back down at her feet.Lucille thought Wyatt was pretty nice, and Lucille didn't have a problem helping out nice people, so really what was the harm in volunteering her help?

"Oh please," Lucille said, and she crossed her arms with a small smirk.
"You did something nice for me, so therefore when I deem it fit I'll try and do something nice for you." Lucille spoke in a matter of fact tone, but if Wyatt could help it, he would avoid making her pay him back for anything at all costs. He didn’t like owing people, and he didn’t like people owing him.
Wanting to change the subject, he said.
“What brings you to the Hogwarts library?”
"I was sort of bored, so I just decided to come here to find somethin' interesting." It was still insane to Wyatt how people would voluntarily read.
"What brings you here then huh? I'm pretty sure that you weren't eager to find a copy of 'Magical Me'." Lucille was too curious for her own good, but that’s Ravenclaws for you. The sorting hat was a genius. It always knew where to put someone.
“Well,” he began. Wyatt didn’t exactly want to say that he was trying to get some quiet, an idea that Lucille shot down, so he made up a lie. He was very good at lying and rarely failed to convince someone. The trick was to mix it with a truth. He had a charms test coming up, so… “I needed to read up on a few charms for a test coming up, but Magical Me caught my eye.”
"Anyway... if you ever need help finding a certain subject I could help out."
“That won’t be necessary, Lucille, I assure you,” he said with a fake smile that lasted only one second. Wyatt was insistent on refusing Lucille’s help/involvement in his life. He assumed he came off as rude, but still he didn’t care, as he wasn’t looking for any new friends.
“Is that all?” Wyatt heard himself say that, and it wasn’t until it came out of his mouth that he noticed how dismissive it sounded. “About me owing you?” Nice save, he thought. He could feel his inner voice roll its eyes. He really meant he wanted to get out of the conversation because he didn’t like small talk. Even Lucille looked as though she was uncomfortable, her eyes glued to the ground.

Wow, Wyatt's kind of mean in this one. Sorry!

Lucille wasn't sure if she should be feeling offended or just confused. After Lucille had asked Wyatt about why he was at the library the Slytherin boy seemed quite annoyed, which left Lucille wondering if she had said anything particularly 'bad'.Maybe if Wyatt hadn't been so confusing to Lucille, the girl would have simply ended the conversation, but of course that didn't happen, and Lucille continued talking anyway."Well, if you don't need any help then do you mind helping me out?"Lucille asked trying to use her best innocent child voice.
(which really was quite hard since she had literally just said she knew where most of the subjects were.)
The Ravenclaw girl had quite the intuition when it came to identifying lies, and even though Wyatt had almost checked every one of her little imaginative lie detecting boxes, Lucille also had a gut feeling.A gut feeling that had never caught her wrong yet."I'm sure if you've been studying in the library for a while then maybe you could help me find where the Transfiguration books are."She added with a challenging smile. If Wyatt had actually been studying for a charms test he would've known most of the contents of the library by now.Knowing where a specific shelf was would be nearly impossible if you couldn't even direct yourself to the librarian's desk.Of course Lucille already knew most of the library by heart, so she was hardly fazed by the many shelves and table the Hogwarts Library had to offer."Yes actually."Lucille replied as response to Wyatt's questionable choice of words. Now Lucille couldn't help but compare the young Slytherin boy to that of some tired cat that didn't want to play with little kittens anymore. The comparison made Lucille have a small smile on her face, especially since it was supposedly Lucille that was the eager young kitten that would not back down for play time.

"Well, if you don't need any help then do you mind helping me out?"
“I thought you said you wanted to help me? Good thing I said I didn’t need your help.”
It was more of a reminder than a jab.
"I'm sure if you've been studying in the library for a while then maybe you could help me find where the Transfiguration books are."
As she spoke, her face held a challenging smile. Maybe she’d seen through his lie. Strange, he could lie to Solomon Lear and get away with it if he tried, Lucille saw through it. Now he was intrigued, but he had no idea where the transfiguration books were and tried to change the subject.
“Is that all? About me owing you?”
"Yes actually." If she didn’t see the lie before, she did now. Lucille wasn’t very good at hiding what she was thinking, Wyatt noticed an expression that was a mix of suspicion and playfulness. She was now wearing a small smile as if she’d had a thought.
“Good, then. I don’t know where to find the transfiguration books, so you’re on your own with that. I was looking for charms. I don’t go to libraries often, this is likely a one-time thing. I’ve done enough reading for the next ten years reading the title of Magical Me.”
Wyatt hated reading and avoided it at all costs. He hated it. It may have stemmed from when he was younger and it took a long time for him to get reading. He didn’t tell anyone about that, of course. The story made him look like an idiot.

While Wyatt practically swerved right around Lucille's sorry attempt to try and challenge his small web of lies Lucille couldn't help but feel very embarrassed on how quickly the Slytherin boy shot her down."R-right.. how silly of me."Lucille said with her cheeks going back to tomato red again as she tried to focus on something other then her terrible social skills. Though she was even more grateful that the boy was changing the subject Lucille couldn't help but wonder why he had such a problem with her owing him a little favor. To her, having someone(cough*a cousin*cough) owe you something would be a huge advantage, especially since that particular person may be able to help you with one particular thing. Weather the favor be making that person give you a tern on the tire swing, or just making that person give you the last chocolate bar, an advantage is an advantage none the less.
Even though Lucille liked to be considered an open-minded person, she did not like to share her emotions openly due to the fact she hated being vulnerable to attacks mentally and physically, a lesson she learned from a young age in her muggle school years. While once again trying her best to think of something other then crappy moments in her life, Lucille couldn't help but give a small laugh at the Slytherin's 'witty' remark.Though for the life of her, Lucille couldn't think of a reason not to come to a library. "If you don't like reading then I'm pretty sure you'd like those muggle audio-books. They probably don't even work in the school but I suppose it's something to think about."Lucille suggested, trying her best to be helpful.

"R-right.. how silly of me."
The girl was visibly embarrassed or distraught or both. Wyatt took that as a victory. He didn’t like his mind being toyed with, but he found it fun to manipulate others', or just have the upper hand in general. Wyatt knew that having the mental upper hand (whatever that meant to him) was more valuable than being stronger and having the physical upper hand.
"If you don't like reading then I'm pretty sure you'd like those muggle audio-books. They probably don't even work in the school but I suppose it's something to think about."
“Technology is useless here. Either it explodes or simply dies.” He rolled his eyes, internally. One thing he missed about the muggle world was television and radio, like in cars. That and iPods, or iPhones, which he used just to play music. Music was his whole world, and now if he wanted to listen to something he’d have to play it himself. “It’s quite obnoxious, isn’t it? Too dramatic, the explosions.”
Playing music wasn’t the issue. He had brought a guitar and a bass guitar. He only brought the acoustic guitar, and not the electric. It would have been useless without the amp, which would explode or go dead if he’d brought it to school. Anyway, he had no problem playing the music but, he didn’t want anyone to know about his talent, for some reason.
He struggled to find a quiet enough place to play something, which would often end up being the rehearsal room while everyone else was at dinner. Skipping meals meant nothing to Wyatt, he could go days without eating if he wanted to. Playing music was always more important to him. Even though he doesn’t like to talk about it.
“So you’re a muggle-born?”

Was Wyatt always this confusing? Sometimes Lucille could genuinely feel bad for the guy, (who would want to deal with all those rumors?) but other times, Lucille didn't know if the serpent wanted to slap her or something. Never the less, Lucille knew she didn't want him as an enemy, so continue talking seemed like the only option."Oh..that's too bad then."The eagle said rubbing her left arm while still looking at the ground. Her mother always said it was a bad habit, but it seemed that nothing would change when she went home. "That's what it sounds like."Lucille said looking back up at the boy. She moved her hands so that they could fiddle behind her back, unintentionally tapping her feet up and down. "Going acoustic sounds interesting..uhm... Do you play anything?"She'd ask, trying to be helpful in continuing. To bad Lucille had never actually learned to play any string instruments, a little piano, even a bit of the flute from her father, but guitar? Her mother wouldn't dare take out the one from the garrage, to many painful memories of Nana. While Lucille had begun to get lost in the swirl of memories, Wyatt's simple question pulled her back to earth. "Erm..technically yeah. But things are...complicated on my mom's side."Lucille said with an oddly placed small smile back on her face.
This was the emotional merry-go-round of the century if Lucille ever saw one.

"Do you play anything?"
Even though he should’ve seen this coming, he didn’t. Though he trusted Lucille enough that she wouldn’t go around telling anyone, and he knew it was a stupid secret to keep, he didn’t want to tell her. Music was his own little escape, and if someone knew he played, or if someone wanted to hear him play, it wouldn’t be his own anymore, and he’d have to share it with the rest of the world.
So, he said, “no, unfortunately. Other students in my dorm do, though, so sometimes I can listen to them play.” Since she’d brought up audiobooks and listened to The Beatles, Wyatt had reason to believe she was a muggle-born, or maybe even a half-blood like himself. Curious, he asked. “So you’re a muggle-born?” For some reason, he was still thinking about those snotty Gryffindors. Did the teasing matter now that there was a witness that cared?
"Erm... technically yeah. But things are... complicated on my mom's side." That was… the most vague thing Wyatt had ever heard. It sort of made sense, but only a little. Wyatt was a half-blood, his dad being a muggle, and his mother being a pure-blood. It made for very interesting Christmas dinners, or at least it would have if his mother’s parents hadn’t abandoned their child for marrying a muggle.
They were those pure-bloods. So his mother’s side was complicated, but this girl’s mother was a muggle, and so was her father. So that was probably nothing like her situation. Wyatt raised a brow and asked, “complicated?” Judging by Lucille’s awkward smile, it didn’t seem like she’d be thrilled to share her life story at a moment’s notice. “Only if you’re comfortable with explaining, of course.”

Lucille was still quite intrigued since Wyatt had replied to her discussion on music, though she did get much more curious when he said something about dorm-mates playing instead. "Oh..That sounds kind of cool, all my dorm-mates do is write in their journals and stuff, though I guess you could always learn."She added encouragingly. The boy didn't seem to want to continue though, and Lucille tried her best to respect his silent wishes even if her curiosity wanted to know more. The discussion was definitely not what Lucille hoped to talk about, though it seemed staying quiet about would probably spark more interest. The eagle looked looked away from Wyatt, and still slightly nervous, she rubbed her left arm loosely as she began to speak."Well..my grandma, and uncle are both wizards, but my mum and dad aren't."Lucille closed her eyes and took a deep breath."What I'm trying to say, is that as far as I know my mom's a squib." Lucille looked back at the Slytherin ever so slightly, his expression still unreadable as always, so the girl didn't know what to think at all. Had it been a stupid decision to tell him? Even though she hardly knew the guy, Lucille felt he wasn't some kind of threat. A bit confusing? YES, but scary? Not really. Hopfully this wouldn't blow up in her face, but knowing Lucille's luck, she should probably try to be prepared just in case.
