Catching Up
Opeila had to think for a moment before she could answer Thomas' next question. Would she still take risks when there was actual danger? Wasn't she already doing that? No. She was not. There was the mere possibility of a risk in the distance. It took some courage to still go that way, but not an extraordinary amount.
"I don't know.", she said and shrugged a little helpless. "Maybe. It luckily didn't go so far that I had to decide that. Not yet anyway."
Her eyebrows rose at his next questions. Hadn't she already answered them? "What I stand to gain? Didn't I make that clear? I want this to end. I stand to gain safety in this place that I want to call my home." What did he stand to gain? On which side did he stand? The longer they were talking, the more Opeila found his behaviour simply suspicious. Something didn't seem right.
Opeila digged too deep. Too offensively. Her eyebrows narrowed when he held out his hand. Confused she looked at it. Did he want her to take it? Why? "Wh-?!" Thomas reached forward, grabbed her hand and pulled her forward. It was only a moment before he pulled her into the lake that she realized, what was happening. "Nononono..." Quickly she crawled back to the land. The Slytherin liked spending time at the water, but the squid did scare her, no matter how often she joked about it.
Immediately Opeila was cold. The water soaked her clothes, went under the fabric and cooled her skin. The rather cool April wind did it's part as well. The little girl shuddered and pulled up her shoulders. Her long hair surrounded her in wet waves. "Stumbling in the wrong direction, huh?", she murmured to herself, watching the boy, who headed back to the castle. "Let's see about that."
