the fire and the thud
interacting with @Morgan Bowens

Gem wondered if he should answer honestly, bringing his index finger up to his chin, tapping on it thoughtfully. Yes, he loved any kind of affection, not that he was used to vocalizing his desire to hold hands or hug all his friends. Even a kiss on the cheek to be friendly had largely appealed to him since he saw his father do it to his bandmates as a simple gesture of affection, but times had changed. Even so, he didn't know why he should lie - it made more sense to just tell the truth... if it got him a dirty look, he could shoot one right back.
"Yeh, I quite like hugs," He answered, taking his cigarette back, tapping on it so the ash fell off. "No one's ever told me what me kisses tasted like, but I imagine maple syrup, since I'm quite a big fan of puttin' it in me coffee, and... everything. Or mints, I chew on those a lot." He sucked his bottom lip into his mouth, pinching on the skin with his top set of teeth. "Guess I'll ask Rafa sometime."
He felt himself smile when his side was nudged, returning the favor with the same energy, playful and light. "I like quidditch, never been one fer sports, but... y'know, it's such a big tradition 'round here, ya kinda learn to love it."
He listened to the story intently, finishing off his cigarette in the meantime, flicking it into the lake where it'd likely disintegrate and never be found again. He wasn't quite sure what sport he was talking about, American football, maybe? He didn't care to prod, he never liked muggle sports very much aside from football, obviously, but that was just something he learned to love because of his dad and his mates. "Both his ankles? Poor bugger," He huffed, shaking his head. "Probably take 'im forever ta heal up, they haven't got the spells we do back inni' muggle world. I feel bad about it sometimes, but I guess that joost makes us different... I guess."
"Ya know, way back when, there wos this girl Savannah, an' she had this whole posse of other birds who really hated muggles fer some reason, right? Me an' a few of me friends made this counter club... not sure wot happened ta her, hope she's well, or somethin'." He sniffed, turning his head to narrow his eyes at Morgan, a small, upturned smile on his face. "Are you muggleborn? I don't discriminate, obv'sly, joost a bit curious is all."
What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though.
