Farther Than The Eye Can See
Dmitri talked about his academic success, that he'd even say that he was doing better than his classmates. Opeila did not miss, that he didn't say a word about social success and she wouldn't let him get away with it.
"So either you have no friends you like to talk about or you just casted out the... long lasting bonds. I thought those were part of the first group.", she said, using his words.
He said that he had never said Hogwarts was the problem- that was true, again she had jumped to interpreting in the wrong direction, she had to listen more carefully. He went on, saying that the headmaster had a lot of explaining to do. Opeila snortet. Yes, that was definitely true. The spider attack had crossed all lines. If Hogwarts was a muggle school, it would have probably been shut already. Although- Opeila had not seen the headmaster for quite some time. "Hm. You're right. But... where is he even? I haven't seen Professor Lear for weeks. Have you?"
Dmitri said that he supported every choice that was the least horrible one. Every escape was good.
"You mean as long as you can escape your problems, you're fine? You'd let them chase you to the end of the world as long as you still could find some place to hide? What about facing trouble..." Opeila was actually curious to hear his opinion. She had no idea what to think about all this. About her own decisions.

Farther Than The Eye Can See
Dmitri scoffed, slightly miffed at the question. "They're mutually exclusive, Seilun. You can't have one without sacrificing the other." He fiddled with the scarf hanging from his hands. "I simply chose to forego social interactions altogether so I'll be the best at my wizarding career. It's my conscious choice.""So either you have no friends you like to talk about or you just casted out the... long lasting bonds. I thought those were part of the first group."
The older Slytherin would raise an eyebrow at the girl. "You'll be better off being successful than being liked. You should try it." Turning away and rolling his eyes, Dmitri had to remind himself again that it was totally his choice of why he was alone. Besides, people come and go, you can't pin your hopes and ambitions on them. "Friends will only bring you down." This was said more to himself than at Opeila.
Dmitri would shrug at the question on Lear. "I have no idea. I am half-convinced he's dead, perished under the same dark influence disturbing the school recently. I'm actually quite surprised none of us students are dead yet--though some are seriously hurt." He gestured at the shadows in front of them chased away by the sun's bright rays. "Which is why it's more important for us to just stop the crap about friends and study--your spells will save your life."
He laughed mirthlessly at the girl's final question. "Sounds like a personal problem, Seilun." Dmitri would turn and flash a smirk at her. "But to play along, yes and no. I will let them chase me to the ends of the Earth," The boy mused, tapping his fingers on the stone railing in thought, "...while I become stronger. I will not run forever. No, I'll use the chase to strengthen myself and then... then I'll take down whoever or whatever is chasing me. In one. Fell. Swoop.""You mean as long as you can escape your problems, you're fine? You'd let them chase you to the end of the world as long as you still could find some place to hide? What about facing trouble..."
At the sight of the sun, Dmitri turned to walk away, just about done with his tirade. Throwing a smile over his shoulder, he'd call out at the girl. "You coming in for breakfast?"
Whether or not the girl replied, Dmitri's back disappeared from the doorway to the Astronomy Tower, his long shadow trailing behind him and his confident gait, cast by the bright morning sun.
