Friendships Blossom
Logan looked around the great hall as students crowded around everywhere, each trying to find their friends for dinner. The Hufflepuff found some spots available, but they quickly filled before she could even take a step towards the seats.
"This is going to be more difficult than I thought," she mumbled to herself as she looked back to see if Elsian had followed her into the Great Hall. Her head snapped to the left as she saw some free seats, a little bit away from some Ravenclaws that were talking to each other and already eating. "Ah," she cheered as she took off towards the seats.
The small Hufflepuff slid into the seats quickly and lay her bag beside her to save a seat for the Gryffindor boy. She honestly couldn't remember the last time she had talked this long with someone before. Normally it was just a small conversation here and there, but other times it was just a small 'hi' before they walked away.
Logan looked back as she tugged at her sweater a bit, looking to see where Elsian had been at. She had walked rather fast to the Great Hall. She wanted to get there quickly so that she could scold Elsian for thinking that she was awful at cooking when really she was just okay at it.

@Logan BairdHe'd dropped his bag off at his dorm quickly before going to the Great Hall after separating from Logan once they left the west tower, partly due to not wanting to lug the bag around and the rest to avoid dealing with a certain blueblood he knew taking his bag again. He knew he'd be the last to arrive between the two because of it but even if he hadn't went to his room, he had the sneaking suspicion he'd still be last seeing how fast the other had walked.
The moment he'd entered the hall he'd ducked away from the more crowded spots, only giving the area a quick once over to see if Logan was there before avoiding it like the plague once he caught sight of a few people he had zero intention of talking at the moment. Not only for the fact he'd have to suffer through another conversation about quidditch and different types of broomsticks but rather he much preferred Logan's company.
Dodging a few older students noisily shoving by he got a small glimpse of the Hufflepuff near some Ravenclaws and quickly walked over, placing a hand over his heart in a wounded manner as he leaned over the others shoulder slightly, putting his other hand to rest against the table.
"I'd ask if this seat is taken but it clear I've already been placed with a bag. Granted a very nice bag so I see why but still, how will I ever recover from this insult?" he sighed shaking his head.
"And here I thought we bonded over our mutual agreement that I'm the perfect child between us."

Logan hadn't been seated for long when she heard a voice behind her, causing her to yelp in slight shock, getting glares from the nearby Ravenclaws. She moved some of her hair out of her face and turned to look at the boy behind her.
"Well my bag does not make fun of my cooking skills, for one." The Hufflepuff stated simply as she move it to set at her feet. She moved to the side, allowing more space for him to sit near her. The last comment Elsian made took a second to comprehend before she spun around and looked at him with a playful glare on her face.
"Now wait a second. I do believe that we agreed that I was the perfect child, not you." she smirked as she looked at the male that stood near her. She shifted her hair slightly out of her face as it moved to sit in front of her eyes, again.
Logan looked at all of the students, each talking to someone different, most sitting with their own house, although some sitting in clumps of a variety of houses. She smiled softly at how many people had made friends in only half a year, and how few she had actually made.
"So off the topic of my cooking skills," Logan started as she looked at Elsian, "How has your year been so far?" She questioned, just wondering if he had actually made an attempt at making friends, unlike she had.

@Logan BairdHe laughed slightly, slipping down to sit next to her as his other words seemed to finally sink in. He leaned forward on an elbow, avoiding the plate in front of him as he turned towards the others glare giving the other a debating look before humming in a slight agreement.
"You can be perfect child for tonight since you got me a seat." he offered sitting up to grab his cup and take a drink of the cold water as the other glanced around, unlike himself who couldn't have cared less about anyone outside of their conversation at the moment. Something not hard to pick up on with how he began to put some bread and corn on his plate, starting to pick at his food and only bringing his attention away when Logan spoke.
"But I like talking about your cooking skills," he hummed after taking a bite of bread, slightly turning to face the other as she continued, "but fine, we can talk about it again some other day..." he said raising a brow the moment it left her lips.
"It's been..." his nose wrinkled the slightest bit thinking about all the people he'd run into so far, not quite good but not quite bad either..."interesting." he decided, "lots of odd people, mainly...from your house." he admitted with an odd look as the thought came to him.
"At least, the other houses have interesting people. he amended thinking better of his words,"I haven't actually spoken to my housemates much." Only one person who he'd just recently become friends with in reality.
He leaned back in his seat as someone from down the table threw a roll at someone near them, "what about you? Any life long enemies I should know about?" he questioned, voice sounding bored but teasing obvious in his words.
"Another bag to replace me?"

Logan laughed at the banter between the two of them. "No enemies that you have to worry about." She stated with a smile on her face as she placed a bit of corn and other vegetables onto her plate. She smiled at the thought of the strange people in the other houses. "You don't have any other bags to worry about either."
"Honestly, friends have never come easy to me," she stated as she ate a little bit of food off of her plate. She thought about how hard it was just to talk to the people in her own houses, let alone people she had almost nothing in common with. She sat back slightly in her seat and thought. "The people I have met are rather nice though, some strange characters, but their nice. I find it easier to talk to the people in my own house rather than all of the other houses." The Hufflepuff smiled at the thought of the few she had talked to.
She continued to eat her food and thought about everything. "How about your classes, what is your favorite class so far this year?" she questioned as she looked over at the male beside her. She fell forwards slightly as someone hit her back, but she shook it off and looked back at Elsian again.

@Logan Baird"I'll be holding you to that." he hummed, giving the girl a disbelieving snort, "you could have fooled me, you seemed the type to easily make friends with how..." he gestured to her lazily from her head down, leaning on the elbow of his free arm, "nice you are..."
"When you don't glare." he said as an after thought. "Still, seems that's one big difference between us, I only know one person from my house...everyone else I know are different houses from me" he drawled, "makes sense you'd be more comfortable with your housemates though...guess that makes me the special case huh?" he cooed sarcastically. "It all makes sense now. You wanted me for my lion status. Making a collection I bet. Who's next on the list? Slytherin or Ravenclaw? I'll draw them in so you can have all the whole collection." he promised sagely, half listening to the others next question as he took a drink.
Elsian thought about his classes, he'd...been getting good grades... For the most part.
"I don't fancy Astronomy..." he grumbled taking a bit of chicken while thinking of how he'd just barely passed thus far. He was absolutely dreading the next assignment.
Maybe he'd just skip the class and borrow someone else's notes...
"though I do like defense against the dark arts." He wasn't quite sure what was so appealing about it but for now the class had his peak attention. If that attention would last was yet to be seen.
"I feel like you'd be good at astronomy-" he said, eyes narrowing when the other was shoved forward and leveling a small glare at the back of the one who'd done it. "How rude," he huffed shaking his head slightly before continuing, "what do you do outside of classes anyways? You really were impossible to find throughout the week you know."

Logan turned a glare towards Elsian, "I said it was easier to talk to people in my own house, not make friends with them. I had made one friend in my own house and she hasn't talked to me since the first week, so clearly not really friends." She snapped as she went back to eating her food a little bit. "I haven't talked to any other houses because I am nervous to. My father wanted me to be in Ravenclaw and most Slytherins just scare me," she mumbled the last part to herself as she knew some people wouldn't appreciate her saying that.
The small Hufflepuff took a second to collect herself before continuing to speak to the Gryffindor beside her, although there was a pout still present on her face. "I am rather good at Astronomy, one of my favorite classes. Herbology is probably a very close second though." Logan stated once she had calmed herself down a little. She thought about how easy the classes had been for her so far. "I just find them to be interesting topics. Although the Astronomy sort of came from my mother's love for it."
She took a sip of water out of her glass and sighed after her little rant about favorite classes. Once Elsian admitted to her being impossible to find, a grin formed on her face. "The library, outside, under a tree down at the Great Lake, or in my common room." She stated with a smile on her face as she looked over at the Gryffindor. "I was normally outside practicing spells, seeing as there is very little out there that I can catch on fire, but now that there is snow I have been trying to find somewhere in the castle I can practice."
Logan rushed through the part about her catching stuff on fire, but she knew it would come back to bite her at some point. She would admit, she was awful when it came to doing anything with her wand. She could barely cast the simple spells they learned on the first day, which made her feel stupid.

"Scared of Slytherins?" he questioned quietly so only she could hear him.
Her words made him think of the boy he'd ran into not too long ago. William hadn't it been? He couldn't picture Slytherin as intimidating as some of the other houses thought, not after seeing the boy stumble over his words and blush when making a mistake. It made him shake his head with a low laugh.
"Well, I think quite a few of them are actually more shy than anything. Really, I think it'd be easy for you to go and slytherin to a conversation and make a friend." he said with a serious look, knowing just how horrible the pun was and still feeling quite proud of it.
Elsian instantly felt as if cheated when the other said the great lake. The one place he hadn't deemed worthy to look and apparently that was where she was the most seeing as he'd been to all the other places!
"Of course you were at the lake!" he complained, giving his plate a dark look, "ugh, the one place I like to avoid and you were probably there every time I couldn't find you inside..." The moment Logan spoke of fire though he straightened, eyes narrowing in thought when she rushed through the conversation. Obviously, she didn't mean to give him that type of fodder. A real tragedy for her since he didn't forget easily.
He didn't know when, and he didn't know how, but he'd knew deep down he'd find a way to use this info for a nickname. One that even she couldn't deny suited her, especially with her apparently close relationship to fire. Still he'd keep his mouth shut for now but...he hadn't actually expected her to catch things on fire...and... he guessed it made sense why she'd choose the place with water.
"Mm, I'm not surprised about the Herbology. You kinda remind me of Willow." he said, pushing his plate slightly away. He hadn't eaten as much as some of the other kids but he never really had to, it wasn't unusual for him to be done eating before everyone else. "She seems to like that kinda stuff too. Maybe you'd get along..." he trailed off, slightly amused by the thought.

Logan rolled her eyes and giggled at the terrible pun made by the Gryffindor. "That was terrible," she giggled as she ate a little bit more of her food and leaned back a little bit to stretch. Her feelings about the Slytherins had lifted a little bit as Elsian spoke, but she was still rather hesitant.
She looked out across the other tables and saw just how full the Great Hall had actually become for dinner, but shouldn't have been surprised. "It is quiet down by the great lake, all that can really be heard is the birds and the water as it splashes against the shore line," she spoke as she thought about her favorite spot in the school. "Most people don't go down there unless they are messing around in the great lake."
Logan thought about everything and sighed, "Herbology is rather fun, I bet I would like your friend Willow. What house is she in?" Logan questioned with a smile on her face as she rolled her shoulders slightly, trying to stretch them out a little.
She hadn't really thought about trying to make many other friends. She honestly couldn't even remember many of the first years from her own house, which she found rather sad. "I think there might be someone named Willow in my house, but I really am not sure. I haven't spoken to that many people in my house." Logan mumbled as she thought about how lonely she really had been so far that year.

@Logan BairdElsi grinned sharply at the other, "well I don't know any lion puns so-" he shrugged, "sides, you're just jealous you didn't think of it first."
He winced slightly at the mention of the lake before he could push away the sour taste it brought back. He couldn't say he saw the appeal...Sure it sounded nice in his head at first but the moment he'd actually thought about going, actually saw the lake in person? Just thinking about it made him uncomfortable, still he shook away the thoughts, welcoming the change of topic.
"Willow is actually your house. I wouldn't be surprised if you'd seen her around....though, I wouldn't call her and I...friends per say..."
He trailed off thinking about their rough start, he gave the other a small shrug, "makes you feel any better I don't really know anyone in my house either. Only one, Sage..." he frowned, thinking about the tree incident, "doesn't matter though does it?" he asked, "I mean, houses don't really matter that much. Its practically just a way to make students work harder for house points after all," he sighed, propping his elbows atop the table to rest his chin in his hands lazily.
It was laughable really. The boy he'd met on the train had been so sure Elsi would be a snake or raven while he'd be a Gryffindor... Oh how the tables had turned.
"Besides, it's better to have a few close friends than an army of acquaintances anyways." he said, giving the Gryffindor table a pointed look, "at least that's what I prefer. I chose you over my dorm mates any day. No hesitation."
