Lovely Creature — Evasive Manoeuvres — Monster Hunter
Iit had been two days since the Masquerade, two days since the plan to expel Kaegen Deathmote had failed and two days since she had been banished from the ballroom. If only the Dhamphir had given in to his nature as instinctively as she anticipated, her plan to expel Kaegen might not have screwed up at all.
At least the mask which she used to slice her own palm open had manage to obscure her identity. For now, she assumed that only three people would have known who the girl under the silver mask was. One, the Monster, Kaegen Deathmote himself. Two, possibly Xailah and most definitely Schrodinger, her cat. She sure hoped that Xailah would not let her identity slip and spread some gossip, especially not to her other two roommates. Three, Nico Shymane, the other dhamphir and Slytherin Prefect.
Till now, Aurelia could not grasp how Nico had manage to identify her so easily with her mask obscuring more than half her face. Aurelia herself had laid on her bed, staring at the ceiling for about an hour trying to figure out who the girl under the fish mask was and red dress was. Although they were colleagues in the past, she an Nico rarely had any encounters aside from when they had a bit of fun in the prefects bathroom. Perhaps it was because Nico was a dhamphir and could identify one by their blood. That she’d have to research on later. However, what intrigued her the most was the fact that Nico hadn’t seem to be affected by blood unlike Kaegen and the Professor, despite the fact that it was merely inches away from her.
There were a few things she learnt from this episode. One, blood affects different dhamphires differently, or possibly not at all. Two, the scent of even a drop of blood is extremely prominent to a Dhamphir. Three, if she should be more careful with her plans in the future.
The girl was very deep in thought. How could she not after all that had happened? She’d been thinking about it during class, during meals but thankfully, no one bothered her yet. She’d assume they hadn’t yet figured out how the girl under the silver mask was. However, upon turning round a corner in the corridors, Aurelia collide hard into something - no someone, the impact causing her to fall backwards. “Excuse me. I would appreciate if you’d watch where your going. ” she said irritatedly as she brushed the locks of brown hair form her face. Admittedly, she should have watched where she was going.

@Aurelia NotrésvaceThe hallways of Hogwarts felt rather mundane, considering the fiasco that happened a couple of days prior. As he walked by himself towards the Hufflepuff common room, Jack allowed his mind to wander. The boy was rather good at walking without thinking. As he drifted down the hallway, his mind was drawn back to the Masquerade. Who was that sick looking boy? Who was the girl in silver and white? Why was she so adamant about getting an apology from him? It annoyed him that he forgot to even get her name before she made her mad dash away.
Suddenly an unexpected obstacle had ran directly into him. Stopping dead in his tracks, Jack's eye snapped down and towards the person who had so rudely forced him out of his thoughts. His brow furrowed slightly and a frown pulled down at the edges of his lips.
The girl had said for him to watch were he was going. An obvious annoyance showed on his face. If his face didn't show that, Jack's next response surely did. "Are you serious? I am almost positive that I wasn't the one who just charged headfirst around a corner." He retorted belligerently. "If anything, you should be apologizing for screamin' around there like a banshee in heat!"

After her hair was out of her face, Aurelia looked up to see the boy which she had collided into. Her pleasant features twisted into a displeased frown. Whatever the boy meant by ‘screaming banshee in heat’ it’s implication definitely had nothing positive. Aurelia let out a huff of frustration. The impudent boy’s first reaction was to throw the blame at he. Not that she hadn’t just done so but she was officially having a bad day.
Aurelia could not help but roll her eyes when the boy peremptorily requested that she’d make an apology. “Perhaps if you’d be a gentleman and help a distressed lady of the floor, I might consider forgiving you for pushing me to the ground in the first place.” Aurelia said with much sarcasm.
Judging by the colours on the boy’s robes, he was a Hufflepuff. Should not those of his house be friendly and all, of course, Aurelia knew that that was a stereotype, she had met a quite a few Hufflepuffs that personality differed from the traits heir house was known for Although she disliked this boy, there was something about him that was familiar. Perhaps it was his voice or he way he carried himself. She swore that she had seen him somewhere.

Reducio@Aurelia NotrésvaceA singular mocking 'Ha!' escaped the boy's lips. She couldn't seriously think that he would actually care about her forgiveness. Jack didn't like this girl's sense of superiority. He's had to deal with his fair share of people like that, whether it be a pure-blood or a haughty muggle. Even though his annoyance was at the forefront of his mind, he had the sneaking suspicion that he had met this girl before. He had heard her voice before. Maybe it was just in passing? Jack knew that he would have remembered himself talking to somebody so prim and proper.
"That is just stupid! I didn't push you to ground!" He exclaimed irritably, "Plus you're out of luck, because I don't care about being a gentleman, and I don't see a lady." A sense of pride came from that jab. He hoped that he made the right assumption about her, because if so, there was about to be an explosion. This boy just loved stirring the pot. Crossing his arms flat across his chest he continued to look down at the girl. "You know, you could always stand up like a normal person. It really isn't that hard at all." His final addition made a smirk appear on his face as he finished his sentence.

Of course, the boy had not pushed her to the ground. However, it would seem so since she’d had fallen to the ground from the impact. In fact, this reminded of the incident in the ballroom, where she had taunted Kaegen with her blood. He was supposed to attack her and she was to be seen as the victim not the antagonist. A sinister ploy to get him expelled which evidently had not gone as planned.
The girl stood up, brushing and dirt from her skirt. Her pretty grey-blue eyes glared coldly at the boy. As she did, she noticed that the shade of the boy’s eyes was very familiar. It was not much of his face that rang the bells, but his eyes that intrigued her.
However, due to her fairly bad mood, Aurelia dismissed the issue as insignificant. The boy had no respect for her and she decided that her time wasn’t worth spending in his presence. “I’d rather deal with that dhamphir menace Deathmote than a obnoxiously rude first year like you,” Aurelia grumbled under her breath.
“Now kindly excuse me as I have many better things to do than to other than entertaining a Hufflepuff.” She said before gathering her belonging, textbooks and all that scattered during her fall.

Obnoxiously rude? She called him obnoxiously rude! That's like the pot calling the kettle black! Frustrated, he turned quickly just about to leave this girl to her own devices. The boy's yellow and black robes fluttered in the air as he did. However, something in the back of his mind finally put the puzzle pieces together. It wasn't how her voice sounded or the way that she held herself, but rather the way she said the name 'Deathmote'. Memories flash in his mind's eye of a girl in silver and white pulling him towards a pale, maskless, and sickly looking boy. 'You aren't here to stab someone, are you?' she had said. It was the same indignant tone that had confirmed the girl's identity to him.
The second turn he had made was much less aggressive as he inspected the girl in the red Gryffindor livery. Could she really be the girl he had met a few days prior? The masked girl who had taken his arm and asked for him to accompany her? His brow furrowed as he inspected her face. He had seen the girl's blue eyes from behind her mask, but this couldn't be her, right? He blinked several times as he tried to recall any of the girl's defining features that her mask didn't hide away from sight.
"There is no way. You're the girl from the ball? You were totally going after that one guy, the sick one!"The boy said as he pointed at her. Realization showed across his face and there was absolutely no way of hiding it.

The boy was staring, perhaps even judging her as she picked her books which were sprawled across the dusty floor one by one. Mostly the ones that toppled out from her bag. This did not help at all the frustration that boiled within the Gryffindor. It would be the very least polite if he were to at least pick a few up for her, save her from all the trouble.
After Aurelia had all 7 books in her arms, she stuffed them into her bag before fixing her glare on the Hufflepuff boy only for him to point an appendage at her followed by a chain of words that almost made Aurelia wince. Aurelia pursed her lips tightly into a thin line, she wasn’t at all pleased that this boy of all people had identified her as the one who had thrown the sickly boy, Kaegen, off into a dhamphir frenzy.
It would be by far too obvious if she were to deny that she wasn’t the girl in white this boy had surely indicated that he recognised her. “Thank you for your enlightening description of me. I was the girl in white. If you could so kindly as excuse me, like I said I have much better things to do.” The Gryffindor said. Unlike the boy, Aurelia, however, did not share the same feeling of recognition. In her eyes, he was merely another first year.

@Aurelia NotrésvaceIt wasn't like he didn't want to help her with the books, because normally he would have. However, his pettiness easily outweighed his common courtesy. Jack could see the thinly veiled annoyance on her face, and he found a bit of satisfaction that he had managed to make her react that way. As he stopped pointing, he slowly returned his arms to cross his chest. A smirk formed on his lips as continued to watch her scramble across the hallway floor to pick up the books.
Sooner than later she had managed to get most of her things back in order. It took him a moment to register her incredulous words directed at him, but when it did it made it quite clear that she still didn't recognize him. A thought crossed his mind, Maybe I could try to help her along?
"You know..." He starts, as he stepped to the side. Finally, his common courtesy kicked in and he bent over to pick up the last book that she had scattered across the floor. "If you will let me say, you were looking rather regal at the ball." The first-year Hufflepuff put extra emphasis on the word regal. Hopefully what he had said could help ring a bell for the girl about Jack's raven masked identity. Stepping closer to the girl, he held out her last book.

The boy had finally assisted her in picking up the last book, the one nearest to his feet. He extended his arm for him to take the book. It was none other than her third year charms textbook. Ironic. This boy definitely needed to learn how to be more charming rather than an all round asshat. But as she reached out for the book, the boy’s next statement was one that took her aback.
Regal. That was the exact same term the boy in the ball whom she had dragged to confront Kaegen had complimented her with. For a split moment, the girl’s grey-blue eyes finally lit up in recognition. She hadn’t noticed that her hand was still outstretched awkwardly and she folded them collectively by her sides, leaving the boy with the charms textbook in his hand.
“I refuse to believe that you were the one under that full face mask. He, unlike you, was far more gentlemanly.” Aurelia stated. The boy at the ball was one who knew his manners like the back of his hand and the was he chivalrously stood in between her and Kaegen was nothing she would see this discourteous boy before her doing. If he really was, then she’d be honest and say that she would prefer him with the mask on.

@Aurelia NotrésvaceThird-year charms. Hm. The book has been held out in front of him for too long, already. She isn't taking it. Why isn't she taking it? My arm is starting to get tired. He knew that he was being a real pain, but he couldn't help but feel satisfied with her reaction. When he saw the girl's eyes widen, he put on the most shit-eating grin he could muster.
However, he was slightly taken aback at her refusal to believe that he was who he was. "What do you mean you refuse?" He exclaims incredulously. "I am a super gentleman. I am just choosing to be rude to you. If I wanted, I could of be the most gentlemanly gentleman in the damn world." He crossed his arms again, this time tucking the book under his arm. "If anything, you didn't seem like you were so entitled when you were wearing a mask." He didn't really want to push it too far, but he had several other much more mean things crossing his head. Pulling his arms away from his chest, Jack finally held out the book once more. "Will you just take your book? My arm is starting to get tired."
