Manhunt
@Charlotte Cadunt @Carson Miller @Min-seo Kim @Dale Kurt @Tatiana Crane @Mac Murphy @Oliver LockMaggie and her cabin made their way down to the clearing, laughing and smiling as they talked along the way. The four girls had become fast friends, especially after the played a game of hotseat one night in their cabin.
Cicadas and crickets filled the night air, along with the rustling of leaves from a few unknown creatures crawling around the forest. The beams of the girls’ flashlights cut through the dense forest like blades, though they could only go so far as trees surrounded them and cut off their paths. The moon shone onto the Great Lake, which was visible through the trees as it was very close. Of course, all the girls had their wands on them, just in case, and Maggie was pretty sure they all knew Vermillious and Periculum— at least she hoped they did. Once they reached the clearing in the trees, which had coincidentally been the same place Maggie had thrown Tatiana a surprise birthday party, they stopped.
They were waiting for Dragon’s Den to arrive, as Maggie had organized a game of manhunt between the two cabins so they could all get to know eachother better. They were allies, after all, and though many were already friends, it was important that everyone knew eachother. And, manhunt was an amazing game that was like, really fun, and Maggie was always down for running through the forest in the middle of the night.
When the boys arrived, moving through the forest loudly like a heard of elephants, Maggie grinned, standing in the middle of the circle that they had formed kind of naturally. Maggie shot Oliver a confident grin, attempting to casually flip her flashlight in the air, only to drop it slightly and fumble with it for a moment. Coughing awkwardly and scratching the back of her neck, she immediately felt a blush rise up onto her cheeks. She hastily brought the flashlight up to her face, holding it below her chin so it cast supposedly scary shadows onto her face.
“Alright guys, I hope you all now that we’re here to play an amazing game of manhunt, right?” she asked, the sound of her voice making the other kids stop talking. “If you don’t know how manhunt works, the rules are simple. Everyone’s partnered up, and the teams have already been put together so nobody gets their feelings hurt.” she grinned slyly at her cabin, wearing a shit-eating grin that clearly meant there was another reason the teams were organized the way they were.
“Anyways, they head off into the forest and hide while one team looks for them all. When another team is found, they join forces with the searching team until it’s all three teams looking for one, hence the name Manhunt.” she grinned at the group, she felt like she’d done a pretty good job explaining, right?
“As for like, safety and whatever,” she began, making an “ew” face that was obviously a joke, “I set up poles with caution tape around the areas we’re allowed to go, so nobody’s gonna get lost. Also, we are in a magical forest, so if any of you get in any actual danger, use Periculum and the rest of us’ll come get you while two others run and get a Professor. You’re obligated to send green sparks into the air using Vermillious every five minutes, and you can time that with these,” Maggie said, holding up four cheap digital watches she’d bought in Hogsmeade.
“You’ve got like, five minutes to talk to your partner and stratigize, so yeah, do that.” she was forgetting something, too— “Oh yeah! And the partners are... Mac and Tatiana, Min and Dale, me and Oliver, and Charlotte and Carson.”OOC: okay guys, so here are the actual rules for manhunt, but the rules above still apply. First, I’ll be randomly selecting the team that goes out and looks for everyone through dice. The searching team has to wait until everyone posts to find someone, and that can be anyone they’d like. The searching team finds someone each round. Below is the posting order
(all of this happens after everyone posts once)
Round One:Round Two:
- one post from each member of team one
- one post from each member of team two
- one post from each member of team three
- one post from each member of team four (the searching team)
Round Three:
- one post each from the team that the searching team found (to better explain, we’ll just use team one as an example)
- one post each from team two
- one post each from team three
- one post each from the searching team
- one post each from the team that was found (ex. team three)
- one post each from the team that was found earlier (ex. team one)
- one post each from team three
- one post each from the original searching team

Manhunt
Dragon’s Den trampled through the forest, rushing to get there as they thought that they were late. Maggie had told them the other day about a game of manhunt that they were playing, at that they needed to bring flashlights.
So, there they were, stumbling aimlessly through the forest, following a path Maggie had cleared so they didn’t lose their way back, or there, for the matter. Finally, they stumbled into a clearing, the Great Lake lying only a few feet away and a light breeze coming off of it and blowing in Carson’s hair.
They had almost instinctively formed a circle, and Carson stood next to Oliver and Dale, Mac standing next to Oliver and Tatiana. Across from him was Charlotte Cadunt, the girl he’d saved from the lake the other day. He couldn’t help but notice how pretty she looked in the moonlight— Carson felt a blush rise up on his cheeks as he thought so, and he quickly turned to Maggie. She seemed to be trying to impress Oliver by flipping her flashlight in the air, but she fumbled and a blush quickly made its way to her face, causing Carson to snort and mouth “Smooth, Parker” to her, which earned him a glare.
Maggie finished explaining the rules, and Carson felt a bubble of excitement begin to grow in his chest. “Oh yeah! And the partners are... Mac and Tatiana, Min and Dale, me and Oliver, and Charlotte and Carson.”
Carson looked to his partner, Charlotte, and walked over, a small bounce in his step. Sure, he was scared of embarrassing himself in front of her, but he also had the opportunity to not do that and impress a pretty girl, which was always a good thing in his book.
“Hey.” he began, not sure if a lake joke was appropriate or not at this point in time. After all, her near-death experience was only a few days ago. “Uh... how’s your ankle?”

✧✧Charlotte felt rather… excited at the idea of a midnight game. She walked down towards the exact clearance they had celebrated Tatiana's birthday just a few days ago and she couldn't help but smile as she remembered that awesome evening. The Dragon's Den was yet to arrive and the girl formed a circle, eager to finally get this started.
Suddenly, they heard it. The sound of the boys walking in their direction and Charlotte asked herself if they really were as a small group as they were. Finally, they arrived and the girls excitement could probably be felt from their frantic chattering. Charlotte could barely make out their faces, but instantly recognised Carson, the boy who had so bravely pulled her out of the water a few days ago. Thankfully, the feeble light that emanated from the moon hid the fact that her cheeks had surely turned to a crimson colour. Just like she always did when she felt nervous, she tucked her hair behind her ear, biting her lip and glancing around her as she felt her ears and head heat up a little.
“Hey.”
Carson said as Charlotte instantly looked him in the eye.
Maybe she should act like she didn't really notice him. But how?
“Uh... how’s your ankle?”
She felt her heart beat faster as she looked down at her foot.
'Its-- It's perfect. It stopped hurting quite quickly actually…'
she said as she chuckled lightly.
It was in moments like this, when her heart beat so fast that it felt like it was about to jump out, that some of her Veela characteristics would show. Her skin had a subtle glow, her eyes would glimmer and her hair looked as if it were brushed away from her face by the most gentle of breezes. Surely, surely no-one noticed that. She took several deep breaths before smiling sweetly at Carson, trying to act as natural as she possibly could. After all, he was just like the other boys, right? Right? She sighed, convincing herself she was just still incredibly thankful that he saved her, not that the feeling of having a slight… slight crush on him was growing with each passing minute he was in her company.
She had a hard time looking away from his beautiful eyes but soon cleared her throat, trying to focus on what Maggie was saying. This was going to be a fun night, she thought to herself, a faint smile on her face.

After their cabin had gotten an impromptu invitation from Maggie, Mac wasn't sure what to expect. Of course, with Maggie being Maggie, she hadn't exactly specified what exactly they'd be doing down here, only that they'd be playing a game that they should all bring a torch. He hurried along through the forest's trail, following close behind the other members of the Dragon's Den. According to Carson, they were running late. Mac was starting to think that he was cursed - he was late to everything, these days.
They eventually crossed into the clearing, and Mac let out a little sigh of relief. If you were to look through the trees, you'd be able to see the Great Lake, where the light of the moon was shining on the still water. Maggie wasn't too far away, and it wasn't long before they all gathered around her. With all the confidence of a proud Gryffindor, she explained the rules of the game to them. She flipped the torch in her hands, a sly smile on her face, but fumbled before she was able to catch it. It looked like she was trying to impress someone - but who, he wasn't certain. Either way, it must've been embarrassing. Mac gave her a sympathetic smile.
Then, she went on to explain that the teams had already been chosen, and Mac had been paired up with Tatiana. He smiled a little at that; she'd regret putting two Ravenclaws on the same team. He waved at Tatiana as he moved to join her. "Well, I guess that's that, then," he said as he stood at her side, fiddling with the torch in his hands. "How do you think we should approach this, then? The game, I mean," he shook his head as the unnecessary clarification left his mouth. "If we get chosen as the search team, I think we should split up to cover more ground... otherwise..." He grinned at her. "Are you any good at climbing trees?"

The girls of Kelpie Cavern were casually laughing and talking as they made their way from their dorm boat and toward the forest. Tonight was game night- 'Manhunt', to be more precise. Maggie, in her usual fashion, had arranged a night time adventure for the adjoining boys and girls cabins. Flashlights in hand, they made their way along the shore of the lake and arrived at a familiar small clearing of trees. Just a few days prior, Maggie had been incredibly thoughtful and thrown her an intimate surprise party for her birthday in that very spot; the thought brought a smile to her face.
They weren't waiting long before the familiar sounds of a group of boys broke the silence between the trees. Running just a minute or so behind them, the boys of Dragon's Den cabin had now arrived. Though they didn't know it, the girls had already decided team pairings, some strategically and others with more... well, ulterior motives. Tatiana had chosen Mac Murphy. She liked Mac, and decided to pick him as partner for any number of reasons. First, she knew him the best out of the rest of the boys, even if that was still very little. Second, he was a bookworm- typical of their house- but his passion was for magical creatures, something she was both curious and a little afraid to learn more about. Plus, being in the forest and all, Godric knows what kinds of things they could potentially run in to. And third, he was a Ravenclaw just like herself, and the other girls had been foolish to disregard them as potentially formidable opponents. Besides, she had been looking for an opportunity to get to know him better, and what better way than combining their wits to win a little friendly competition? She had thought about asking him if he'd like to explore the castle like they proposed during their errand in the greenhouse, but was sad to find out that the castle was off limits during the summer holiday. Perhaps another time.
The other seven participants, including herself, arranged themselves in a small circle facing their fearless leader. Everyone else was silent as Maggie laid out the rules and regulations for the night's festivities. She directed everyone that they would be using spark charms to check in, handed them watches, and informed the boys who they would be partnered with. Shoot, Tatiana thought, shuffling her feet nervously. Though her homework scores were impeccable, she was embarrassed to admit she'd had a little trouble successfully performing most of her casting. A little too ashamed to argue the point, she decided not to raise the issue, praying she wouldn't run into any dangerous situations.
As Maggie finished up, everyone gathered their supplies from her and moved to talk to their designated teammates. She smiled and waved back at Mac as he joined her, already eager to discuss strategy. If she was being honest, she hadn't really put a lot of thought into it prior, but her eyes lit up as she heard his question. "If we get chosen as the search team, I think we should split up to cover more ground... otherwise..." he said, grinning. "Are you any good at climbing trees?" Finally, something she was confident she could do!
"I'll admit, it was more rocks and cliffs back home, but I'm an excellent climber and trees should be no problem!" she beamed back at her partner, feeling happy that she could be as useful to him as she'd hoped he'd be to her. "Oh and uhm, yeah that sounds great- we'll definitely cover more ground if we split up." The last comment made her a little nervous again, as she remembered Maggie’s instructions to use the red and green spark charms. But, unwilling to show weakness to the other groups, decided she'd figure it out one way or another without them. Also, Maggie had been thoughtful enough to put a few safety precautions in place, and as long as she didn't foolishly wander in the forest, she shouldn't have much to worry about.

Min-seo laughed along with her cabin mates from The Kelpie Cavern, Talking away about the most random things. Today was the night of Manhunt. She didn't really know what it was to be honest, so she was hoping to learn the game as she played, and maybe her partner would help her out. Min was wearing shorts, a white shirt, and an oversized black hoodie over her. Her hair was in french braids to keep it out of her face. They made it to a clearing and all they had to do was wait for the boys. Maggie had made the groups, and Min didn't know any of them, besides Carson. So she was paired up with Dale. She didn't mind who she was paired up with, because two out of the four girls had crushes on two of the boys. She didn't think of the that way at all. Tati and Min didn't really care. She did know that Dale was also a Slytherin, so that would be nice. Min-seo listened to Maggie explain the rules clearly. She looked at all of the people go to their team mates, and she found Dale. She shyly waved. Hi, I'm Min-seo, I don't think we've properly met."Interacting with @Dale Kurt

Dale walked through the forest trying his best not trip and fall. He had no idea what was going on, Carson had just told him they were going to go play a game with the girl's cabin. They continued to walk through the forest until they came upon a clearing, the girls were already there and waiting.Interacting with @Min-seo Kim
He listened closely as Maggie laid out the rules, the part that worried Dale was the part about the spells, while he knew both Periculum and Vermillious, he was not confident at all in casting them, he hoped his partner was better than him.
It seemed like Maggie had already picked out the teams. He knew absolutely no one there outside of Carson and Maggie, he had vaguely gotten to know Mac and Oliver, but not much at all. He was paired up with Min, he didn't know who that was but he hoped she knew her way around the forest.
Min had found Dale before he could find her, "Hi, I'm Min-seo, I don't think we've properly met." , she seemed like a nice person. "H-Hi, I'm Dale, Dale Kurt. Yeah, I don't think we have, it's nice to meet you. Umm, I hope you are better at casting Periculum and Vermillious than I am." He said with a small chuckle.

Interacting with @Oliver LockMaggie, after explaining the rules to everyone, walked over to Oliver, bouncing her flashlight against her leg as she did so. Grinning at the blond boy, she tried to look anywhere but j’ai face so she wouldn’t get lost in his adorable brown— she was staring. She quickly looked down to her feet, her eyes flitting around the campsite, trying to find a place to rest that didn’t make it awkward. Quit it Maggie, she scolded herself, in her head of course, just pretend he’s... Carson or Mac or Dale.
“The flashlight thing never happened, alright?” she joked, smiling at the boy. She winced as she remembered what’d happened only a few moments prior— in an attempt to impress Oliver, Maggie had tried (keyword there was try) to show off her amazing flashlight-catching skills, which were usually top-notch, of course.
“We’re so gonna win this, by the way.” Maggie said, confidence lacing her tone. “We’re like, a dream team, y’know?” she added, grinning at her own comment. Okay, that was a good one— even Carson, who was busy flirting (or really, trying to flirt) with Charlotte a few feet away, would agree. Even though she was the totally-smooth, totally-fearless Maggie Parker, a blush rose to her cheeks as she grinned at Oliver.

the brunette, that oliver usually couldn't take his eyes, off began sauntering over toward him, a grin on her face. oliver could feel himself tense slightly, although her smile was comforting and endearing. maggie was really the only person he'd look toward whenever he wound up somewhere new, maggie seemed to give him maybe just a smidge of comfort, even though he'd always found himself fumbling in front of her whenever he'd try to interact with her.
"the flashlight thing never happened, alright?" she said, joking slightly.
she was referring to an attempt she made a few moments ago. she had given a few side glances to oliver, to make sure he was watching, oliver, naive as he is, didn't catch onto this.
oliver saw maggie as such a confident girl, he admired her attitude toward everything.
he found himself smiling as she clumsily caught the flashlight, a little red had crept up her neck.
"we're like, a dream team, y'know?" she continued, her smile still beaming.
oliver liked this term for both of them, oliver liked to be with maggie, and even being associated with her made the corners of his mouth tug into a smile.
"yeah." he stuttered out, eyes still gazing at her. "i'm sure we'll do great."

Alright... drumroll pleaseeee!
Team one is... Tatiana and Mac! You guys will be the searching team. Remember: you don’t have to find the teams in any particular order. If you want to find team four first, go for it! It’s up to you!
Team two is... Charlotte and Carson! You guys will be hiding.
Team three is... Dale and Min-seo! You guys are also hiding!
And Team four is me and Oliver! We’re also going to be hiding!
Have fun! I’m gonna put some more instructions below (they’re literally all up on the first post anyways) so I can hit the word limit and they don’t take my post down! Yay!
So, as you guys are aware, you have to send up green sparks every five minutes. If you don’t know how to do that, ask your partner to. If both you and your partner don’t know how to do that, then talk to Maggie IC and we’ll figure something out. Be creative with your hiding places, and try to avoid disastrous opportunities! The searching team (also known as Tatiana Crane and Mac Murphy, the Ravenclaw dream team haha I really need to get my word count to 200 so they don’t take my post down) will post right after this! Have fun, be safe, and... GO!
Here’s an IC thing to start off your post with if you’d like:
“Have fun! Be safe! And...” Maggie jokingly drummed her hands on her knees as she squatted, ready to dash into the trees. “GO!”
Ahhhh! Nvm! Team one isn’t posting first, team two @Charlotte Cadunt and @Carson Miller are postig first, following the posting order on the first post!
