Balloon Barrage
Hogwarts Campgrounds/Summer Vibes Cabin
3 July 2019
Around 3 PMPV to @Meenauh Silmataurea & @Angellica RowleyEmma was beyond delighted to pull another prank in what felt like years. Her second year had been quite monotonous, but it wasn't over yet. What was a year at Hogwarts without a little mischief? There had been quite enough drama for her fondness, but to lighten the mood and relieve others of their heatstroke, there was nothing a little water couldn't solve. As far as she had been told, no other pranks had occurred. The students had only been in the cabins for a few days now and it was now or never. They were to get the initial shot off before the war began, essentially producing the conflict. It didn't matter, however. Although the prank was simple, her enthusiasm didn't decrease. She just couldn't wait to finish the balloon-making and put their plan into action.
Perhaps she was a bit too enthusiastic to drench other students in water and create competitions with students she probably wouldn't see ever again in her years at Hogwarts if she was lucky.
In the Summer Vibes cabin, the brunette stationed herself in the bathroom on the right of the sink, a small bag packed with half a dozen water balloons. That was only her accumulation of balloon. After she finished loading one balloon, she dropped it into the bag and waited for the other two girls to fill up theirs and then the cycle would repeat itself until it couldn't hold anymore. Pranking was a difficult process. There were countless times Emma ended up putting too much water into her balloons and fastening them wrong only to have water gush back into the sink or on to her clothes. Not to mention the balloons with small holes in them and the ones that split in her bag.
The bathroom was slightly flooded with the sink's water, but she didn't worry too much about it. She did have her wand, and although it wasn't in the bathroom at the time, cleaning the bathrooms wasn't a problem with magic. She knew from experience. Without the help of her wand, she was an extremely lazy person.
Another water balloon filled, tied, and dropped into her bag with a plop. Taking the time to put her hair up into a ponytail, she removed the soaking orange scrunchie from her wrist and propped her hair up. Just a few more till completion, but the thought didn't benefit her. With excited hands, a few balloons popped in her grasp and she was stuck with at least fifteen in her bag. Fed up with her slippery hands, she flicked the residue water on to the mirror, a few droplets running down the reflecting surface. Finally, she was - "Done!"
Being good enough for her satisfaction, she closed the bag and exited the bathroom to set her bag down by her bed and grab her wand. While it wasn't the best thing for the summertime heat, she raised her wand and vocalized the hot-air charm to target her clothes first. As unsatisfying as it was, being wet was something she didn't fancy.
Once joined by Meenauh and Angie, the brunette exited the cabin and kept an eye out for their victims. She legitimately felt like James Bond. Ready to attack, she reached into her bag and pulled out a yellow balloon and aimed at a fellow brunette, ready to fire her torpedo. This was only going to be one of many.

Meenauh sat on her bed, listening to the noises of nature outside. Those noises were interrupted by some other noises from the bathroom, caused by an unknown origin. She stood up and went to investigate, but as soon as she reached the door, it was open and Emma emerged from the bathroom, wet and excited.
Meenauh steeped away smiling. The ladies explained to her the other day what the pranks were all about and they decided to start with the simple ones to get the taste of it — water balloons. She watched Emma with a stuffed bag casting spells to dry herself out because even pranks had to be approached with ultimate grace.
Once she finished, they shared the balloons and silently exited their room, locking it with a strong Colloportus. They always allowed Emma to do that as she was the most experienced and her lock would be quite not easy to take down with an Alohomora, especially cast by younger students.
They moved a little to find a nice spot, both almost invisible to those passing by and still providing a convenient view of the battlefield in the campgrounds. They decided to wait for the Kelpie Cavern cabin, as they called themselves, setting them up as the first targets in the Cabin Wars. And finally, the victims appeared.

Mischief had never been in Angellica's life. Unruly behaviour had never been acceptable in her household, and though she had read many stories, misbehaviour had never truly been things to have captured her interest. Truly, she had dreamed of far away places and new experiences, but this was definitely not the sort of adventure she had envisioned in her childhood. It was interesting though, and with those in her cabin, she had allowed herself to be influenced. Although she wasn't sure how to express herself, or what to do, she was always willing to try new things. This was just a new one, something she didn't exactly need to tell her parents about. What they ignored didn't hurt them, and this was something that was a right of passage right?
Heart hammering in her chest, she followed Emma much as she did on the Quidditch pitch. Though she was her own person, and not much of a follower, Emma's presence on the pitch was one she trusted, and Angellica had no issue following a person she trusted within reason. This was one of those times, and once the girls were done filling their balloons, Angellica moved to the bathroom to fill her own. The first attempts ended with water thrown at her shirt and face, but eventually she grasped the concept and managed to efficiently fill them. Once her bag was full, she moved to the room to change shirts. There was no point to show off what she had been up to and essentially ruin the surprise.
Hand in her bag, she followed the girls out, wanting to stay back as she did with most things. People made good shields, even when they were friends. The blonde had always been one to use her wit rather than play it by ear. In this case, there were a lot of variables, and though her mind raced with probabilities she felt knots in her stomach as they moved forward towards their target. She was ready to launch and keep out of the way for any type of retaliation. Sometimes she wondered why she hadn't been placed in Slytherin given her self-preservation, but she did thirst for knowledge more than people on many level.s

@Tatiana Crane @Min-seo Kim @Charlotte Cadunt @Angellica Rowley @Emma Hill @Meenauh SilmataureaMaggie and her cabin strolled down the dirt path, their feet catching up to them and causing them to go a bit faster than they normally would due to the semi-steep slope. They’d made up a cheer for their cabin, and they loudly sang as they paraded over towards the forest where they were planning on having a picnic.
Charlotte, being an amazing baker, had prepared a variety of desserts, and Maggie hadn’t hesitated to pack as much junk food as their hearts desired. All of this was packed nicely into a picnic basket with a small towel covering it so bugs wouldn’t get in.
“So, how’re you feeling about the whole chip situation?” Maggie asked, overdramatically winking at Charlotte as she used the code name they’d given the Hufflepuff boy Charlotte had a crush on. As Maggie said this, a blush made its way onto Charlotte’s face, and the other girls let out low “oooh”s that made everyone laugh.
Maggie had her hair intricately braided on the back of her head, which was the amazing work of Tatiana, who Maggie had begged to do her hair. She wore an oversized red t-shirt that fell to her mid-thigh and red converse that were falling apart at the seams. She had a choker on, and everyone else in their cabin had one on too, as Min had made everyone matching necklaces. They had four beads on them: one red, one yellow, one green, and one blue. Since each of the girls were from different houses, it only made sense that they had one of each color to represent each girl.
“Hey, guys... do you see that?”

✧✧It was one of those hot days of summer where staying inside became almost unbearable, forcing the girls to head outside no matter what. The sun hit their necks and Charlotte was relieved she had brought a hat with her. She gently pushed it on her head as she grabbed her golden sunglasses, catching up with the other girls. They hadn't really planned anything but they would just improvise once outside, like they did every single day.
“So, how’re you feeling about the whole chip situation?”
she said as she winked in a very exaggerated manner to Charlotte.
To be perfectly honest, she had probably been thinking about him nonstop, but didn't really want to admit that. Was it weird? She thought so.
'Hey!'
she said as a smile instantly spread across her face, turning her head to hide the fact her cheeks had turned a bright rose colour. The girls, of course, let out a teasing 'ooooh', making them laugh along. Of course Maggie had to bring this up, she always did, but Charlotte didn't mind. She smiled at Maggie as she shook her head.
She played with the choker Min had made her, twirling the beads between her fingers. They made their way down the slope, Charlotte carrying her basket full of cookies -her signature- resisting the temptation to eat one right now. She wore a pink dress, some white shoes her mother had cast a spell on preventing them from ever getting dirty. Her hair was in a bun, a few hairs pulled out, that she had curled slightly. On sunny days like this, her otherwise barely noticeable freckles would show under the golden sun.
Just as they were arriving at the end of the slope, Charlotte turned her head to face Tatiana as the girl spoke.
“Hey, guys... do you see that?”
Confused, Charlotte looked in the direction Tatiana had her eyes locked on, not really seeing anything. Was it a bird, people coming their way?
'Uh, what are you talking about, Tati?'

It was another sweltering day on the grounds as the members of Kelpie Cavern left their cabin to spend another day in the sun. They all donned the necklaces Min made for them, in their respective house colors. Maggie had packed the girls a basket of food and Charlotte had been kind enough to bake them all a batch of her signature cookies. With the sun glaring down on them, Tatiana sported a white sleeveless shirt tucked into high waisted, light denim shorts and white sneakers. Following Charlotte's lead, she quickly rushed back in the room to grab her flat brimmed hat, hoping to avoid any potential sunburn as they had been spending all of their long summer days outdoors.
Tatiana fiddled with the belt loop on her shorts as she walked behind Maggie and Charlotte, listening as they talked about Carson- a topic that seemed to dominate a lot of their conversations as of late. Charlotte's face flushed at the mention of his name, and the rest of the girls gave her a teasing 'oooooh' all in good fun. She figured they would probably see the boys' cabin today, as they did most days, but she enjoyed spending time with them.
Several students were already on the shore that morning, enjoying the cool water of the lake as they baked in the hot sun. Students weren't allowed in the castle during the break and the campgrounds were mostly exposed to the sun's rays. Besides hanging out under the trees that lined the forest, the lake was basically the only reprieve from the heat during the summer camp. Tatiana was mostly silent as she walked along the other girls, pondering her trip home, still unsure of whether she would take the very last train or head back sooner. She missed her parents, and her friend, but she liked hanging around getting to know everyone better. Still, she had all year to spend with the other students, and the summer holiday would be the only break she'd be allowed to return home until Christmas.
She didn't know why she looked up at that particular moment, but her eyes had barely left the ground when she spotted them. Standing along the trees, with a wide view of the campgrounds, were the girls of another cabin- Summer Vibes, she thought they were called. They seemed to be eyeing their group as they walked along the lake, holding a suspicious looking bag in their hands. "Hey guys..." she started, coming to a halt. "Do you see that?" she asked, turning to point in the direction of the other girls.

It was quite a hot day for the Kelpie Cavern. They had decided that today would be a great day for a picnic. Min-seo smiled as she carried a wicker basket full of goodies that they were planning to eat. She smiled as she saw all of the girls adorning their chokers that she made for them, her own being a light green. She had her hair in two loose braids resting on her shoulders, some hairs in the front down and wavy. She laughed as they teased Charolette about "Chip," aka Carson Miller, who was her crush. She loved her cabin, all of their arms linked together as they made their way down to the edge of the lake. She had layered sunscreen on herself and suggested that the other girls do as well. They didn't want sunburns now, did they? Min-seo looked over to Tati, eyeing a bag that another group was carrying. "They do look suspicious, don't they?" she said, walking a bit slower, observing the other girls. This must be a prank. Oh no. She'd been so caught up in getting to know her lovely cabin that she'd forgotten that Cabin Wars existed. She narrowed her eyes slightly.

A slew of four letter words not quite worthy of a child played on loop in the blonde's ditzy looking head. She had made eye contact with one of their targets, of this she was certain. If her heart hadn't already been hammering it would have started right then. Her palms felt clammy, and under any other circumstances she would have blamed the list of symptoms on a crush (not for her that was for sure, books were very much her only interest for the foreseeable future).
"They saw us," she murmured, not quite capable of sound. "Th-they saw us..." her mind continued to be more worthy of a sailor than that of a ditzy looking youth.
As panic settled in, she burst a water balloon she'd been holding in her hand in preparation. The few books she had read on pranking made it very clear that a target needed to be unaware, and this was not the case. No tome had prepared her for being caught. The scariest professor might as well have been stood before them chiding. She couldn't quite move, and it was more habit of having Emma as guidance. Quidditch didn't always go as planned, but it wasn't this nerve wracking. She was just glad to be behind her friends, as she tended to be when it came to anything she didn't feel comfortable leading.
Water leaked from her small bag and down her leg. She was glad for having gone with something so light to wear that the sun would surely dry it in moments, though she began questioning her use of a white shirt. Had she really thought this through? Nothing prepared her for getting wet herself, though it should have been common sense.
It was one thing to imagine a prank, another to be face to face with the victim. Would she even be able to throw one in their direction? She wasn't about to start it.

Emma was lost in planning until Angellica's words caught her off-guard, and it was presumably for the best. The softness of her words compelled her to listen closely. It could have been important, after all. She discreetly lowered her balloon to the ground and continued to face forwards, watching their marks, but it wasn't until the following repeat of her words she turned around. Immediately, she could see panic in her eyes, unlike her natural determination on the field.
"Angellica," she placed her hands in front of her in an attempt to tranquilize her nerves. Her voice had softened, essentially because she didn't want their escapees to overhear the behind the scenes, but Angie didn't have to know that. Before she had the opportunity to calm her, a few droplets of water met her hands and face and she glanced down to see water dripping from the palm of the blonde's hand. Shaking it off nonchalantly, Emma laughed indifferently and spoke. "It's alright, it's alright. What's the worst that could happen? Actually, don't think about it." She added hastily, slurring her words before she could make her feel even more anxious.
Shooting a glance at Meenauh as a silent sign of help, she picked up her bag that was still filled with multicolored balloons. The girls were still approaching and there wasn't much that could happen, so why not make it worse? The only thing keeping her from standing still was the small chance she would never see their faces again, even now, she couldn't quite make out their features at least she couldn't recognize any of them. Watching the girls a bit too closely, there was only one thing she could think to do.
With the bag still in her hands, the brunette reached into the bag and pull out a purple water balloon that somehow hadn't managed to bust underneath all the pressure. Okay, so maybe this was the worst thing that could happen. Maybe it wasn't the wisest thing to do, but Emma couldn't think of a better distraction than this.
After chucking the water balloon towards the group, she turned to the two and spoke in her normal tone. "Either that's going to aggravate them or buy us some time. I don't want to be here to find out, though."
