Following the footsteps of his predecessor, Zahid had invited a few higher years that had a corresponding free study period to join them for today’s extracurricular lesson. Well, he considered it extracurricular due to its contents but in the end it was just another class. The five guest students had arrived early – or rather on time early as he had asked them if they could be there a few minutes before the class started.
For the purpose of the lessons the desks were not in their normal rows but pushed toward one side of the room to free up some space where the students could line up to cast the spell at their targets – that is to say, at the guest students. He felt a bit bad about them being guinea pigs for the lesson, but at least the spells were nothing harmful and from what he had heard, it had been quite interesting if not fun for the students that had stepped in the year before.
Once his students entered they would see him standing at his desk, relaxed and waiting for them all to trickle in and the five upper-years lining the wall behind him slightly to the side. It would draw some curiosity but his patient gaze would quell the worst of the speculation in its tracks.
“Good. You’re all here, so let’s get started with today’s lesson. As you probably surmised, this will be another more active lesson that has, frankly, not much to do with History of Magic – unless you want to try and draw comparisons to the Soap Blizzard, but the Bubbles you will learn to produce today are not Soap Bubbles. That said, I will teach you the Bubble-Producing Charm Bullarum Immortalem today.” Brandishing his wand he quickly demonstrated the spell, releasing a string of golden bubbles from the tip of his wand to line the edge of his desk.
“Those of you with siblings in higher years may have heard about or seen pictures of some of the Christmas Decorations in the castle. This spell can be used for the Baubles that decorate the trees during that time. But you will probably have to practice this spell a lot before you will be able to do that. When you cast this spell correctly you will produce bubbles that won’t burst.” With barely a flick of his wand he cast a Finite and made the bubbles disappear again. Putting his wand away he motioned to the student s behind him.
“Now. Please welcome our volunteers. Miss Gibbs, Miss Ojeda, Mister Vonnegut, Mister Everill, and Mister Fabbri who have all graciously agreed to practice their Impervius’ today and be our guinea pigs – that is, your practice targets.” He gave a nod to the five and they made their way to the cleared practice area.
“Leave your wands for a moment and just say the incantation a few times to get a hang of it. Please enunciate it clearly. The proper incantation is BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. Wand movement wise this spell is even easier than the last one we covered. You merely need to have your wand pointed towards your target when you incant the spell, no actual movement required. Now, as I said, if you cast correctly the Bubbles will not burst – and they will not harm your target, so do not worry about that – but if you do not cast correctly the miscast bubbles (if any appear at all) may be of differing sizes or colours and they sometimes burst like soap bubbles hence the Impervius.
“All right, then!” Zahid clapped his hands and prompted, “Try saying the spell a couple of times without your wands then go and line up evenly in front of each of our five volunteers. If you fail during your turn, you may try two or three times but if it does not work then please go to the back of your line and queue again. There is no shame in not getting a spell right immediately. Use the time until it is your turn again to practice the incantation without using your wand.”
Smiling he would watch as the students followed his instructions to practice the incantation and line up for their tries at the spell. He would give them a few tries before starting to make his way through the class to help with correcting a few on their pronunciation while noting the successes of others.
ReducioAllison Gibbs, a blue-eyed Gryffindor fourth year with a heart-shaped face framed in blond curls with a heart of gold, always trying to help others. But, if she was honest, she volunteered mostly because she saw this as a remedial lesson, as she’d had trouble with casting this spell (Impervius) successfully.
Tania Ojeda, a shy, studious Slytherin fifth year, that saw most everything as a learning opportunity. The redhead was always a bit standing a bit hunched down to seem smaller than she was at her 6’2. (1.89m)
Andrej Vonnegut, a small, tanned Ravenclaw fourth year with a mop of dark brown hair and a perpetual smile on his face. His grey eyes didn’t miss much and while he had been looking forward to this lesson because it sounded like fun to him (after all, Bubbles) he had been volunteered for this by his older brother.
Theo Everill, another Gryffindor. The boy was dark-skinned with a shock of black hair and while his face was rarely anything but placid he had warm brown eyes. When Professor Zahid had asked his fifth years for volunteers, he had flipped a coin to see if he should. Thanks to his best friend being a bit chaotic, he’d dropped the coin and didn’t actually know what it had landed on but he’d volunteered anyway.
Léon Fabbri, the last volunteer was an outspoken Hufflepuff fourth year that was almost always surrounded by a cluster of people. He had a slightly crooked nose from roughhousing as a kid, a brown bird’s nest of hair and green eyes that were always full of mischief. He had decided to sign up as soon as he had heard the word Bubbles.
OOC/Reminder: In your very first lesson with him,
Zahid has asked all of you to call him Professor Zahid.

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
Today’s History of Magic class should be interesting as it would be a practical class. Not that Arc had any problem with a theoretical class. The boy loved reading books and History of Magic was a particularly fascinating subject for him. Of course, he wouldn’t miss the chance to learn and practice a new spell. In fact, learning new spells was probably Arc’s second favorite activity after reading books. There was no useless spell, only unimaginative mind.
The lesson for today’s class would be about the bubble-producing spell, also known as the bubble-producing charm. The spell would conjure a stream of unpoppable bubbles from the tip of the wand, usually golden in color. There was no particular movement to the spell. Wizards would only need to point the wand towards the target before chanting. And its chant was Bullarum Immortalem, pronounced BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem. It could be used as decorations or other fun activities. But it should also be able to be used for combat.
Arc waited patiently for his turn to try the spell while reviewing the spell and its pronunciation in his mind. He recited the spells without wand a few times as well. Most students managed to cast the spell first or second try, but it was a bit harder to hit the volunteers properly with the stream of bubbles, even though they were only standing still. It didn’t take long for his turn to arrive, though. And the boy now found himself standing in front of one his upperclassmen named Andrej Vonnegut. He was tanned with a dark-brown hair and looked pretty chill.
The pale boy nodded to his fellow eagle before readying the wand in his left hand. Arc was not sure he could aim properly, but even if he did, Andrej should be protected by the Impervius Spell. The kid took a deep breath and aimed the tip of his wand towards the older boy before chanting calmly, “BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem.”

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
The first thing Saskia noticed when she walked in class was the odd setup of the room. The desks weren't in their usual places, but rather pushed aside so there was more space in the middle of the room. The Hufflepuff raised her eyebrows at the sight of it. If it was what she initially guessed, then this lesson would definitely be very interesting. She'll admit, History of Magic could get boring sometimes, especially when all there was to do was read from a dusty textbook and take notes. The events were sometimes fun to learn about, but for the most part, she would have fallen asleep, were it not for the fact that she kept herself busy writing down parts from the lesson. But now that this lesson seemed to have taken a different turn, perhaps she could actually have fun with this class.
As Saskia listened to what the professor had to say, her excitement only grew. They were about to learn an actual spell in this class, which was the Bubble-Producing Charm. Granted, making bubbles may not have been as impressive as conjuring up fire, but bubbles were also cool. Plus, they were learning about bubbles that wouldn't burst, which would prove to be very useful in many situations. What situations they would be, the Hufflepuff didn't really know yet. Making Christmas decorations was nice, but maybe it could be useful in a duel, or a fight, depending on what was going on.
She almost laughed at the mention of the guinea pigs. It wasn't that it was funny to potentially see these students get pelted by bubbles, though it was amusing that the professor referred to them as actual guinea pigs. But she couldn't focus on that now. Right now, she had to practice the spell a few times before she could throw bubbles at the test subjects. It was something to do, however tedious it might have been, and if she practiced it enough times, she would have less chances of accidentally messing the spell up and embarrassing herself in front of everyone else.
After she was done with that, she went up in front of one of the lines. In all honesty, she didn't know which line she was in, but it didn't matter to her. As long as she could learn the spell, then she would be fine with whichever test subject she ended up with. Maybe if they were particularly mean, she could cast as many bubbles as possible and make it hard for them to move. Although, she'd probably end up in trouble for that, which meant that she needed to save it for another time.
By the time she was in front of the line, she stood facing a timid looking Slytherin with red hair. From what the professor mentioned, she must have been Tania Ojeda. She seemed nice enough, so her plan to bombard people with bubbles would definitely not work on her without the Hufflepuff feeling somewhat guilty about it.
Saskia raised her wand towards the girl, remembering to only point the wand instead of move it. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem," she said, making sure to get the pronunciation right. If she wanted to get this spell to work, she needed to make sure she could at least say it properly.

Narrowing his eyes, he resolved to keep an eye on her, that look on her face spelled trouble. But she only cast the charm and he gave her a nod and a "Well done.", already moving on towards that Gryffindor.Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
Angellica was excited for another hands on class, and though there might not be much application to the Bubble-Producing Charm. They were pretty though, and as much as she tried her best not to be vain, it was perhaps the best part of this spell in her opinion. If she could produce these, she could decorate things, perhaps have a better footing to be on a decorating committee. This might have seem silly but it really triggered this part of her that caused the young girl to grin as she listened to Professor Zahid.
"BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem," he had spoken the incantation for them to repeat on their own. It was the hardest part of the spell, or perhaps intent was, but either way she tested the words, wrapping her lips and tongue around it. It was one of those that was easy to trip on. She struggled the first few times until she broke it down for herself.
"BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem," she had finally managed to get the wording right, without switching around any syllables as she had in earlier attempts. Those L sounds easy to trip on. Once ready, she lined up for one of the guinea pigs as they'd been called.
Facing an older student she tucked a strand of blonde behind her ear and offered a coy smile. Pointing her wand she began to speak the incantation. It was one thing to practice on a still object, but this was a person. Granted it was simply a bubble charm, and not one was going to get hurt, but hadn't Tarantallegra cause a volcano to erupt?
"B-b-bUL-la-" the rest of the word was mumbled and as the Professor had surmised early in the lesson, nothing would come from it. She tried again, and once more and sighed as she made her way to the back of the line in annoyance - more so with herself.
Inside her chest her heart was stammering, beating at a pace that made her feel like she was shaken. She could do this. Rather than go for the same target she stood in a different line, not wanting to face the same pair of eyes again. No, she was going to start fresh. She would pretend her target was someone else, and then she would cast again.
When she made it to the next target, she had more resolve in her features. Pointing her wand towards them, she focused like she did in Quidditch, ignoring any prior mistakes. "BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem."

Professor Edit: Idly, Zahid noted that one of his students that had to requeue had left their line to queue in another. Well, he had let them have free reign on where to queue and as long as the length of the queues stayed balanced, it didn't really matter.
As Angellica tried again she succeeded, getting a "Well done, Miss Rowley." for her effort. He wondered if maybe her target had been the problem.Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
As Bridget walked into the classroom, she found that the desks and chairs had been pushed aside to make a large clearing in the middle. Another hands-on lesson, it seemed. Once everyone had entered the room, her suspicions were confirmed.
She couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. The last hands-on class had had everyone sitting at their desks, meaning no one had been looking at her. This time they would be in lines, though, so lots of eyes would be on her, including the eyes of an older student. Bridget took a deep breath to calm herself. One class period and then she would never have to see the older students again.
She got in line to cast the Bubble-Producing Charm on Andrej Vonnegut. Although the Slytherin girl looked nice, she was bound to pass her in the Common Room sometime.
“BUL-la-rum im-Mor-ta-lem,” she whispered to herself. She repeated the incantation several times, trying to not trip over the syllables. The incantation would be the most difficult part of this charm. The wand movement... well, the wand movement was nearly nonexistent. Determination she had in spades; it was the reason she had been sorted into Slytherin, after all.
After a Gryffindor boy with a tangled mess of sandy blond hair successfully produced a stream of golden bubbles, it was her turn. Considering he had gotten it on his first try, the pressure was on.
She pointed her wand at the Ravenclaw boy. “BUL-ar-um im-OR-ta-lum,” she said. Her face burned bright red. She had gotten terribly tongue-tied on the incantation. She took a deep breath to calm herself, to refocus on her goal. She pictured golden bubbles streaming from her wand like they had from the Professor’s.
There was no shame in not getting it the first time, but there was shame in giving up. She pointed her wand at Andrej again.
“BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem,” she said. She waited, hoping the spell would work this time.
Professor Edit: Stopping next to one of his Slytherins who had just failed at enunciating her spell properly, he waited to see if she would fix her error herself and try again or if she would need help.
As Bridget tried the charm a second time, golden bubbles erupted from her wand and Zahid gave her a nod, "Well done, Miss Collins."Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
This was the second class from Professor Zahid to learn another new spell called "Bullarum Immortalem", a very interesting spell but not as useful like the last spell. The Bubble-Producing Charm seemed to be a spell for fun activities, celebrations or some people might use it as a prank. However, a spell is a spell, Griseldis would still like to learn it. As she entered the classroom, she saw how the desks and chairs had been all pushed aside for students to line up in the middle, she noticed there were five upperclassmen standing in front of them, then the Professor explained to them they volunteered to become their Guinea Pigs as targets, she couldn't help but feel a bit bad for them but the spell seemed quite harmless so there might not be any problem.
After Professor Zahid taught them how the spell works and gave them the same advice as last time, Griseldis waited patiently and watched how the other students cast the Bubble-Producing Charm on their target, so far nobody failed. While waiting in line, she whispered to herself and tried to pronounce the incarnation, "BUL-laa-run im-MOR-te-lim...ah no, that doesn't sound right...", she coughed to clear her throat and tried again, "Ok...BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem...BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem...BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem...". Now that's better, she thought with a smile.
Finally it was her turn to try out the spell, she stepped up from the line and faced the upper-class student in front of her. Her target was an older Hufflepuff boy with green eyes, his name was Léon Fabbri if she remembered correctly, he had a slightly crooked nose and his brown hair looked like a bird's nest. Griseldis politely bowed to Léon and he simply just smiled at her, she pointed her wand at him, confident that she wouldn't miss. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself from being a bit nervous, then shouted, "Bullarum Immortalem!"
Professor Edit: The Gryffindor surprised him when she bowed to her target as if she was participating in a duel. Well, it seemed some students had good manners.
"Well done, Miss Edelhardt" He gave her a nod as her wand began sprouting golden bubbles.Bullarum Immortalem learned

BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem.
Ben as a first year, before the incidents with the mask, was an eager student. When it came to learning a new spell that was for fun, he was one of the first to volunteer to try it. History of Magic class was not always the place to do this. Today he would get a break from learning about this new Wizarding World he just discovered and would get to play with bubbles. That seemed innocent and fun enough. He could imagine the look on Blooms face when he filled her bag with bubbles later.
The Ravenclaw, a prefect at the time, watched carefully as the professor taught them the spell. No wand movements was a plus. It meant all he had to do was get the words down and visualize it. The incantation was the only truly important bit for this lesson. Ben quietly repeated it under his breath as it quickly came to be his turn. A lot of eyes were on him to see how he would do, but he didn't actually mind that today. A simple spell like this? Even Ben could do that.
"BUL....la.... rum." He said slowly with his wand pointed ahead towards Léon.
Ben imagined pink bubbles surrounding the Hufflepuff. He wanted to overachieve of course and make them different. His mind's eye could see the pink baubles surrounding the Hufflepuff from head to toe. It almost made him giggle. But he had to focus and say the rest of the spell perfectly.
"....im.. MOR ...ta..," he really took his time with these words. "lem."
Nothing happened but a few tiny pink sputters from his wand as it seemed to try and fail to make magic happen. Ben stared in disbelief and he could feel his blood begin to boil. He had said it perfectly and taken his time. Did he take too much time? Probably that was it. He just had to say it faster now.
"BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." Ben said sternly, pointing the wand ahead and simply remembering the effect from before.

Amber was in a very good mood today, which was why she was one of the first who entered the classroom. The young witch was wearing a big grin on her face while she was bouncing excitedly up and down. She absolutely could not wait to learn a new spell!
As she caught a glimpse of the upper-years standing at the opposite wall, she slightly raised one eyebrow in curiosity, but she did not say anything and simply found herself a free seat while humming quietly.
During the lesson, she patiently paid attention - although it was hard to stop herself moving due to her excited state - and recited the incantation with her classmates when the professor told them to.
“BUL-la-rum im-MOORE-ta-lem”, she repeated at first, until the girl sitting next to her kindly tapped her on the shoulder.
“You are saying it wrong”, she said, very straightforwardly, but without a hint of accusation.
“Huh?” Amber was a bit taken aback. “How so?”
“You are saying Bullarum ImMOOREtalem, but it should be Bullarum ImMORtalem. Repeat after me: BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem.”
“BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem.”
The unknown girl smiled and nodded her head. “Now you got it.”
Amber simply grinned and thanked her genuinely before making her way towards one of the lines which were already starting to form.
While queuing, she silently repeated the incantation over and over again so that she would get it right when it was her turn.
Time passed by incredibly quickly and soon she was standing at the very front of her line.
The girl raised her gaze and found herself facing a small, tanned Fourth Year with dark brown hair. His grey eyes were twinkling as he showed her an encouraging smile.
Since she was feeling more extroverted than usual today, she automatically replied his kind gesture with a bright grin.
Seeing that he wore the Ravenclaw colours - blue and bronze - made her feel even more comfortable.
She felt his grey eyes watching her every move as she raised her wand and pointed it directly at her opponent.
“Bullarum Immortalem”, she said, her voice clear and firm.
A tiny giggle escaped her mouth as the spell worked and lots of sparkling bubbles were emitted out of the tip of her wand.
Professor Edit: Zahid watched as one of his Ravenclaw's took her turn to engulf Mr. Vonnegut in bubbles with a bright grin. "Nicely done, Miss Wood." Leaving the giggling girl with her success, he went to the next line to correct one of the Gryffindor boys' pronunciation.Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
As usual Edric is eager to learn a new spell. Maybe it will become less one day, the excitement of learning more, different things, but for now it’s no different at all from when he started school a few months ago. He knows more spells of course, but he is looking forward to each new one he learns – every knowledge is good, every knowledge makes him smarter and if he’s really good then maybe one day he won’t be the rut of the litter behind Harry and Adair anymore.
For now, however, he needs to learn. So he watches as Professor Zahid explains the incantation of the Bubble-Producing Spell and how they have to hold their wand for it to work properly. He likes Professor Zahid, he is calm and nice and nothing in his class will ever try to kill Edric.
With a smile on his face, he takes his place in line behind a few other students. Their test subject is a blond Gryffindor girl who has a bright smile and looks like she actually enjoys being a part of this lesson. For a moment Edric stares at her, a little distracted at how pretty she is, but then clears his head and goes to concentrating on the spell they are learning today. Bubbles.
“Bullarum Immortalem,” he whispers the incantation to himself, trying to get a feel for both the Latin and the correct pronunciation of the words. A stress right at the beginning, and then another at the second syllable of Immortalem. “BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem,“ he repeats.
Pronunciation is important – at least if you are a novice like him. Powerful witches and wizards, they can cast spells with only their will and sometimes without a wand as well, but he’s a long way off from that, so he sticks with the basics. Edric is good with the basics. Wand movement, incantation, will. That’s what he needs, and the clear rules make it easy to just follow what he is taught.
“Your turn,” a female voice says, and then he notices that it’s the Gryffindor girl. Her name is Allison. She’s a really pretty girl, he’d bet that Harry would run around like a headless chicken if he’d ever meet her.
Edric smiles back and raises his wand. “Bullarum Immortalem.”
There are bubbles when he points his wand at Allison, but it’s definitely not as much as the spell is supposed. He makes an unhappy sounds and the Gryffindor laughs.
“Try again,” she tells him, making a “come here” motion with her right hand.
Edric breathes in and out. Relaxes his stance. Then he lifts his wand and points it at Allison, his mind focused on producing a sea of bubbles. He wills them to be there.
“Bullarum Immortalem!”
They grin at each other for a second before she vanishes the bubbles. Edric waves goodbye and makes is way over to the back of the line. He can still get a few more tries in before the lesson is over.
Bubbles.

Professor Edit: Making his way back to the queue in front of Miss Gibbs, Zahid watches as one of the Slytherin boys only manages a smattering of bubbles at first before he tries again with her encouragement. On his second try, Edric succeeded in casting the spell properly and Zahid gave him a nod. "Well done, Mr. Banes."Bullarum Immortalem learned

The Bubble-Producing Charm, First Year
Glen started in surprise as he saw the upper years waiting inside the classroom as he entered. Had he mixed up periods? He'd thought it was time for his history class but what if it wasn't? Had he gotten too distracted by something in the castle again? It certainly wouldn't be the first time, but he thought he'd gotten better at it. Oh, what time was it? What class did he actually have now? He only hoped it wasn't something at the other end of the castle... He'd never make it on time!
But no. He wasn't the only firstie (as some of the upperclassman tended to call them) in the room. He wasn't the only firstie by far. So, was he in the correct room after all?? Taking a better look around it would certainly seem so, but then why where those five here? (Now that he thought about it, the professor probably would have said something if he'd wandered into the wrong class room.)
Reassured but still confused, he moved toward his desk from where he'd frozen in the doorway. Putting his things down and taking a seat, he waited for class to start (and for an explanation.) Ah, an active lesson, so we'll be learning a -- WAIT, did he just say bubbles ??? Awesome!
Listening raptly (and probably still missing half of the professor's explanation) Glen eagerly waited for his chance to learn such a cool spell. "Bullarum Immortalem, BUL-la-rum IM-mor-ta-lem, no, BUL-la-rum im-mor-TA-lem, no, that's not it either... BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem, yeah, that should be it. BUL-la-rum im-MOR-ta-lem." Glen was just glad, that there was no wand movement involved with this spell, he only had to point his wand at the student in question... probably for the best, considering he was barely refraining from vibrating in his seat.
Moving to stand in one of the lines, he queued up to practice his spell on the Hufflepuff boy as there seemed slightly less students in his queue. The quicker he could take his turn... Soon enough it was indeed his turn to point his wand at the boy and cry: "Bullarum Immortalem"
Professor Edit: Startling slightly at the cry, the professor turned toward Mr. Fabbri's queue. While the volume was unnecessary, the boy whose turn it was had succeeded in producing the bubbles. "Well done, Mr. Pope."Bullarum Immortalem learned
