You are teleported to the heart of a maze. It is obvious that you as well as your peers have been magically teleported to this space. The air here is full of colors, illusionary butterflies flit past you. You see one fly right through a classmate and then flutter off. The instructions here were simple, find a partner and traverse this maze but beware, errant adventures turn out to be the fool. Yes, it would seem that this is a place for both tricks as well as treats. This year’s maze was fairytale themed, if one would have read the muggle-books, they would find the things here rather... familiar as if they were teleported right into the book itself, a fairytale come true for some. Those that had not read the books would simply find this a normal maze.
As you look around you notice that there are 4 paths that you can take. One to the North, one to the South, one to the East and One to the West. Moss covered flagstones mark the paths of this natural maze. Which way will you pick.
Options:
A.) Travel North
B.) Travel South
C.) Travel East
D.) Travel West

The usual 200+ word count rule has been reduced to 60+ words. You and your teammate(s) must stick together. If you are unable to make a decision which path to take by the end of this week, either the majority decision wins or a roll will be done to determine your path.
Action success, spells and physical attacks for example, are determined by a d20 roll accompanied with your stats. Results above 15 will be considered successful while anything less is not. Quote your actions and stats in your posts for easier reference.

'WHOA!' Nico never thought her first teleportation experience would feel so nauciating. Falling on her knees, she had to take a breather. Her gaze scanned their surrounding area. 'W-whoa..' Nico couldn't believe her eyes. Everything looked magical! Not in the.. Hogwarts way.. but in a familiar, nostalgic way. Carefully getting up, she muttered to herself. 'I-I'm not sure.. this reminds me of .. Alice in Wonderland.. for some reason. Huh.'
After staring at a few butterflies flying by, she remembered she had to meet up with Luna. They had owled each other before to team up. Pulling her gaze away from the butterflies, Nico made her way through the group of students, finally noticing the lavender haired Prefect. 'Luna!' She called out to her, fastening her pace. Arriving by her side she smiled happily. 'Ah! It looks so pretty here, doesn't it? Kinda reminds me of a picture book.' Not sure where to start from there, she then noticed the four different way they could go. 'S-So.. Which way do you think we should go? Maybe, south?' Turning her head to each direction, she tapped her chin pondering.

A soft sigh came from Luna's mouth as soon as she was teleported. It wasn't her first time, and she was already used to it. She brushed off the imaginary dust on her Slytherin's Uniform and then started looking around.
More people joining this than she thought there would be. So crowded, made her feel quite uncomfortable. Before she could leave the group, the young snake heard someone called her name. Turning around, she saw a familiar girl with red hair. Nico Shymane, the person she decided to owl and asked to be her partner. "Hello, Nico."
The view? Luna took a quick look around. It was acceptable... Just looked like how a normal maze should be. "This basically depends on how lucky you are, so just randomly choose one. I wouldn't mind going to the South Path, however, would you mind telling me the reason you chose that path instead of the other three?"

She shrugged and rubbed her elbow. 'I just pick one. No need to think too much about which path to take when they all look the same, right? I just feel like we can go south... We'll see where we end up. In the worst case we can come back and try a different path. So..' Nico stretched her arms up to the sky as she softly groaned. 'So, you ready to go?'
Nico turned to the South and set a few steps forward to the direction, waiting for Luna to follow.

A few minutes after Nico finished her sentences, Luna finally looked at her and answered. "Well... That kind of makes sense." Would they regret? No one knew unless they went to that path and checked. Well then...
Luna started following Nico and stopped when her parted did the same thing. Did something happen? She tried to look from behind the red hair but...
Too tall.
Oh well, she didn't care about that much... After standing next to her and seeing that nothing was in front of Nico, Luna realized what was happening. "No need to wait for me, just go first, I will follow after you."

You and your partner(s) decide to go South. The trail curves to the right slightly before turning abruptly to your left. It continues down and after a minute or two, the relatively narrow path finally leads to a more open space. The cooling air is suddenly replaced by warmth as if you had stepped from a typical spring day into the sahara desert. The sudden scorching rays of the sun hits you, how was it summer so soon?
However, should you and your partner(s) attempt to proceed, you’d find your feet stuck to the ground, sinking actually. You would notice that the sand had somehow turned into quicksand. Your efforts in freeing yourself would be futile. The scorching sand is now at you calves. Then you would see small movements in the sand, a few seconds later hundreds of tiny black bugs - spiders - would crawl out from the earth and as soon as they emerged from the sand, would crawl towards you and your partner(s) perhaps... like the butterflies, they were just illusions? Possibly, possibly not.

Nico nodded at Luna and continued to step forward. Nico had worn her signature scarf just in case, but she soon felt the temperatures rise. 'O-Oof. It's getting quite hot..'
The difference was extreme. Soon she felt as if she arrived at a desert. Nico stopped in her tracks and eyed at the sand. She could see how the heat rose up, dancing above the what seemed, scorching hot sand. Nico narrowed her eyes, wrapping her scarf over her head to protect her from the loud sun. 'What do you think, Luna? That sand looks pretty hot to me... Should we cross or head back?'

"It does." How uncomfortable. She didn't like heat, the young Slytherin preferred the cold. Since it made her felt quite uncomfortable and Nico was tall, which was the reason one step of the red hair was like two or three steps of her, Luna started walking faster. To catch up, and to get out of this faster.
Luna silently looked at the dessert, wished that she knew the Water-Making Spell instead of the Fire one. If they stayed here for too long, no doubt that they would need water. So what they needed to do was crossing the desert or we had something else? Not sure yet...
"If we keep heading back because something bad might happen, I doubt that we could pass the first round. Not to mention, although this is a maze, this is an event of Hogwarts. I don't believe that we will face something truly dangerous." Looking at Nico, she continued. "So what I suggest is crossing it. However, I would like to hear your opinion as well."

She nodded at Luna. 'Alright. Let's cross it. But..' She looked over at the sand. Nico could swear that she saw something move. Nico's father used to make trips to the Sahara desert and told her stories about the camel he rode, but also the creatures he met along the way. Even though the desert might seem dead and well.. deserted. It could contain dangerous creatures. Snakes, scorpions,... Nico swallowed by the thought of it. Luna mentioned that this was an event in Hogwarts, they wouldn't really ... harm them would they?
Heading back wasn't an option either. Luna was right, either way they'd end up coming across treacherous paths...
'I'll go first, okey? You stay here in case something happens to me...'
Nico carefully stepped closer to the sand and waited for a moment for her partner to respond.
