A Whomping Stroll...
PV: Eloise Ridgewood
A continuation of Study Buddies!
The grounds were the perfect occasion for a nice, friendly stroll for fresh air. A knack to get away from all the school drama that Hogwarts was glad to offer these past few months. Donny, followed by his new friend Eloise, walked through the entrance hall, and down the grand, stone steps that one would land if they were to enter the ginormous settlement. It was also the perfect exemplary evening. One with beautiful sprouted blossom trees, accompanied by the groundskeeper, and kudos to Ms. Davis, the Herbology Professor. Nothing, Donny thought, could be better than escaping the musty library on a beautiful day like this. "Well, where is your favorite hanging spot? You know, here on the grounds?" Donny asked Eloise.
He knew his favorite spots were probably the lake, or even the campgrounds, but the Quidditch Fields were by far the best on a starry, summer night. Something that great hall lacked, was a view like that from the real beautiful outdoors. He could remember all of the good times, all of the friends that had previously accompanied him through these very grounds. His best friend overall, Ruka, was met just over in The Quidditch training pitch. He would ponder, and one could remember that experience. The flying, the swooping, under and over. "I quite like this..." Donny said dreamily to no one in particular.

Eloise nods. She had to restrain or look in another direction to keep the sun out of her eyes. "It really is quite a nice day out..." Eloise wasn't sure when exactly she enjoyed the most on the grounds. All of the spots were wonderful to her. No matter where one was on the grounds, there was a beautiful view to accompany it.
She took note that they were heading towrads the Quidditch Pitch. Eloise had not yet had a chance to explore that area yet, however, she knew of its popularity. After all, Quidditch was the most popular sport in the wizarding world. Or so she'd heard. But she didn't doubt that notion for a second. Eloise had only been at Hogwarts for a short time now, but she'd already heard so much of the sport.
"I'm not sure what my favorite spot is... It really doesn't matter to me. It's quite nice out, and I'm glad to have gotten out of the library. It really is quite stuffy in there..." No matter how much Eloise loved the library, she felt great and refreshed now that she was outside. There was no denying that when she'd first walked into the room, the smell of old books had hit her hard and fast.

A Whomping Stroll...
Donny stared up into the powder blue sky, it seemed as though it was painted by an ambitious artist, one in whom was very plain in his works. Donny considered what Eloise had said, he quite agreed. "Yeah. It's just natural for me to be out here, spending my free time in the fresh air." he said, even more dreamily before turning around and smiling. "It started when I was just six years old. I was in muggle school, and they were...not particularly fond of me." he said, maintain still his confident, dreamy face. He remembered how they would tease him about his powers. How when he got frustrated his pencil would go flying at someones head, or they would automatically pull a wedgie. "I just didn't fit in." he replied, just part truthfully.
He looked down at his feet, noticing his shoelaces were untied. "Wish there was a spell for that!" he laughed, jumping down, and lacing them as speedy as possible. "One thing I would like to try though...is the whomping willow!" he whispered shrilly to Eloise. "I've heard it was once retreat for a werewolf because it has a passage that leads to the shrieking shack!" he whispered even more shrilly. a mysterious, paranoid expression almost on his face. "It's just....over there." he said, though he knew they wouldn't have the time, nor the courage to come face to bark with the whomping willow...

A Whomping Stroll...
Eloise looked to where Donny was talking of. A large willow tree sat beyond the grass, all of its leaves not yet on the ground. It looked slightly more bare than it should have, though, so she knew that some of them must be littering the ground around the base of the large trunk.
Pondering, Eloise turns towards Donny. "Why don't we... check it out?" No doubt she had previously heard stories, especially from her father, of the Whomping Willow. They would have to be careful if they were to actually venture over that way. She hoped that they didn't get in trouble...
Eloise had heard the story of when a car was flown into the tree. She'd heard multiple other stories, as well as that of the passage to the Shrieking Shack. She'd never been, but then again, she hadn't been at Hogwarts for that long. One day she would probably be able to visit it. Maybe today was that day.
"I mean... Unless you don't want to." Eloise was wandering off in the general direction of the Willow, a devilish grin on her face. She wasn't taunting him; she figured he'd had enough of that in muggle school. Besides, she wasn't that type of person. She just craved adventure, however, if Donny didn't want to go she wouldn't push him to.

A Whomping Stroll...
Donny stared, jaws open at Eloise. The girl he'd just...well, found studying in the library, had just inquired that Donny didn't like adventure? She had a lot to learn about him as a person. "I-I did't think-you of all people would-" he cut himself off, dumbfounded and thinking about his answer. "-I-yes." he said shortly, his mouth no more agape. He'd never once thought about going near the tree-he wasn't scared, but he was quite afraid of werewolves. Of all the stories he'd heard! He never found out if this-werewolf had ever left the shrieking shack, and he was already afraid of his uncle Thomas's dog Tiberius, and a werewolf would be even worse.
"I-when do you want to, go?" he asked, trying to keep a straight face. He'd already had a lot of trouble this year, with crazy kids with knives, and giant squids....but a mad tree? He'd have to keep his distance. He popped a slated peanut in his mouth. a snack he'd snuck into Herbology the other day, though squirrels were one thing to fear. "I'd make sure to keep your distance though. That mad tree can tear up even a Ford Anglia!" he said, his eyes wide...

A Whomping Stroll...
Eloise snickered. She was definitely one for adventure, despite her quiet, shy nature when she first met somebody. She'd heard the story of the car that was driven into the Willow. "First impressions are important. But, they don't always tell everything of a person. I love adventure." With a satisfied smile, she continues on the path to the Willow.
"Let's go now!" If things got too dangerous, she knew a few simple defensive spells. Nothing too dangerous, however, they would work in a pinch. Stopping, she turns towards Donny, suddenly serious. "If you seriously don't want to go right now, then we don't have to." Eloise didn't want to force him to go if he didn't want to. She hated to make people do things that they didn't want to.
The pair were coming up fast on the Whomping Willow. It was now or never. They could turn around now, but if they got any closer it would be too late to turn back. She was excited to go on her first adventure at Hogwarts. If that's what you could call it. Besides, she wasn't even sure if Donny would say yes. But due to how he'd been acting earlier, she figured that there was a large chance he would say yes.

A Whomping Stroll...
Eloise need say no more, the two were gliding over to the plot of land in which the infamous Whomping Willow stood, it's decrepit branches shaking and brushing then and again up against the newly pigmented grass of spring. He motioned to sit down, the two staring out at the tree, watching as the slightest movement of a buzzing wasp was whipped sharply and stealthily by the long brown vine switches of the willow. Donny felt in his pockets, he was getting kind of hungry, his stomach giving an angry lurch.
"Fancy some?" he asked Eloise, holding out a can of salted peanuts, those of which he nicked into Herbology the other day. He reached out his hand encouragingly, the can rattling. Just then he saw a small, white and brown spotted squirrel. He hated squirrels, they had the worst sort of manners in his mum's opinion. They could swiftly just swipe whatever they please, a swiftness in the very air they breathed. "Well, mine as well take one before Mr. nutty over there gets greedy!" he laughed taking one for himself, the can still in his hand. "Give or take, we could smart it out. They're known to have the minds of a pistachio!" he laughed once more, a bemused smirk across his face...

A Whomping Stroll...
With a laugh, Eloise took her place next to Donny. Grabbing a couple peanuts and popping them into her mouth, she stared out at the Whomping Willow, its branches swiping at anything that it deemed too close. "Squirrels are..." Eloise pauses, trying to think of the right word to use. Squirrels were loathsome little thieves, but they could be cute sometimes.
"Trouble" she pronounced, a satisfied grin flashing across her face. It wasn't truly an insult, as it had been intended to be, however, it did the job just fine. All the while, Eloise was making her grand plan to get close, and eventually, to the base of the Whomping Willow. It would have to be flawless, considering that any failed attempt could get them severely hurt, and in a heaping amount of trouble.
"I think." She paused to chew some more of the peanuts Donny had offered. "That if we threw little items to get the branches occupied, we could make it to the base of the tree. Something really small and invaluable. Not too grand of a plan, but I think it might work." She looks at Donny. "If you still want to go." Looking from her friend to the tree, she began to work out the fine details of their master plan in her head. Everything would have to be perfect.

A Whomping Stroll...
Donny smiled gratefully as Eloise took a few peanuts from the can. He was meanwhile having a heated staring contest with a greedy squirrel, seemingly hungry and readying itself for a strike at his afternoon snack. "Well, If you want to be snatched up and broken to bits and pieces, sent in a parcel to your family by owl, and want me to attend your funeral, then I suggest you don't throw something at that monstrous carving of nature." he laughed hardily, popping yet another salted peanut into his mouth. He thought of all the possibilities, and ways that the two could be torn up by the Whomping Willow. "Maybe we try to distract it in a different way! Maybe try and--well, bait it or something?" he said, eyeing the big eyed squirrel with a look of taunt.
"Or, we could even try and make it to the shrieking shack, but Hogsmead is quite the occupied settlement." he whispered, knowing the three had some sort of brain controlling all of its senses. Just then, the big eyed squirrel came running up to the two, and straight up into Donny's pant leg. "Aghrr!" he yelled, the squirrel tickling and biting his kneecap, while trying to swiftly run up his sleeve. The can of nuts slipped right out of fingers, the squirrel popping out of his collar, and filling it's cheeks with the lot. "Stop it!" he yelled, sprawled down trying to grab the rodent, but it was almost too late. It ran to the willow, triggering the branches as they started swinging over their heads...

A Whomping Stroll...
Eloise couldn't help but laugh. Anytime an animal ran up somebody's pant leg, it was hilarious. Holding her stomach, she laughed as the can of peanuts slipped from Donny's hands, the peanuts making a rainbow in the air before tumbling to the ground. Eloise watches as the squirrel fills its cheeks as full as possible, and then stared after the rodent as it scurried towards the Whomping Willow. The branches of the tree swung at the small creature, but it was too agile, and it seemed to have made it safely past the tree.
"How can we be more like that squirrel?" Eloise sits next to Donny, pondering, as he straightens his clothes once again. "Not in the sense that we are thieves, or beggars. More agile." She pauses. "I liked the Hogsmeade idea, although you were right. I've heard that it is an extremely busy spot most of the time. There's barely a second that you can get there with some peace and quiet." 'Besides, if one of the residents were to see us, we would be reported immediately' Eloise thought.
"I'm clueless" she says with a shurg of her shoulders. Her first idea, about throwing things at the tree, was the best thing that she'd been able to come up with. Eloise stares at the leftover peanuts littering the grass. It was a shame to let them go to waste. But she had decided she'd been done eating the peanuts before the incident, so she wasn't about to pick them up off of the ground and eat them.
