Grassy plains. Skittering animals. The sound of birdsong wafting through the air. That was what would be great, combined with some warmth. Warmth, which England was not going to get at this time of year.

There was a girl roaming aimlessly in the snow. The bitter wind cut into her skin as she drew her robes closer as to herd in warmth. The snow crunched under her combat boots, sparkling like crushed diamonds. Her cheeks were flushed from being in the cold—she’d been out here for a while. Her hair could be described as many colors, but a light shade of auburn with a golden whim could be acceptable for the true shade. Her hazel eyes which normally shone gold were distracted, their focus darting around the wild, glancing at everything and soaking in all of the details. Her name was Koko.

She’d snuck a glockenspiel from her house and brought it back to Hogwarts after the holidays, and this was the first time she’d been able to play it. She sat down and took out the little mallets. Koko tapped the b flat first, checking the sound of the instrument. She soon began to play, and the metallic clinks of the mallets against the Glock sounded magical. Magical music in a magical world. Koko smiled just a tiny bit, putting up her instrument once the song was finished, and she sat in the grass, gazing out at the trees, animals, and the few students who had made their way out there.

The wind whistled through the empty branches of the trees. There was the light noise of snow crunching under the feet of multiple sets of feet, but the most notable was the soft padding of an 11 year old's combat boots against white blanket. Her face, despite having been walking through the half dead forest for a while, was the same normal porcelein white.

A pure white bunny hopped onto her foot, looking at the first year with nervous interest. If the bunny could speak, it would be saying something like: "Who are you? What are you doing out in the woods in the middle of the winter human?"

"Hello," she said softly, her voice a bit more than a whisper as she crouched down, one knee in the snow. "What are you doing? Probably more than me." The young girl had been walking for an hour or so.

The adorable rabbit cocked its head to the side and Sapphire smiled a rare smile. The bunny inched forward on her foot and she picked it up, nestling it on her shoulder, where it was barely blanketed by the girl's short white hair. A soft, metallic ringing flowed through the crisp air, causing her to look up. Music? she thought. The noise was calming and slightly melencholy due to the hollow pings of mallets agains metal.

"Where is that coming from..." she muttered to herself, following the sound of the melodic tinging. She started to hum along, growing familiar with the tune.

She ended up in a snowy feild where Koko was playing on the glockenspiel. Sapphire smiled a little at the noise, now that she was closer. "Hello," she said from the edge of the clearing, her interest peaking now. "That sound's nice."

A girl had said something. Koko's head snapped up; she dropped her mallets on the glock. A sour chord resonated throughout the courtyard. The white-haired girl was someone from Slytherin, that was something that Koko knew for sure. Koko had seen her before, probably in the common room, but she couldn't remember the other girl's name except for the fact that her surname was somewhat like Koko's own--maybe Reidle or something like that.

"Oh, thanks," Koko breathed. She didn't want to talk too much; her vocal cords hurt after yelling at a pesky worm earlier. Why were worms even here in the snow? Koko, startled, slid the glock behind a tree. The other snek seemed to be interested, but Koko didn't want anything bad to happen. While she was closer friends with Slytherins than any house other than that, she didn't really trust anyone until they earned her trust.

Koko stood up, cringing at the wet spot on her robes. She really had made a bad choice, sitting on the snow like that. "Hello," she whispered, her voice almost monotone, but still it wasn't. She had regained her composure. She didn't want to be seen as unorganized and antisocial around a new person, so she set her lips into a firm line and fixed her golden gaze on the girl in front of her, trying to seem confident. In truth, all she wanted to do was curl into a ball and read a book on her bed in the Slytherin common room. However, the eleven-year-old knew that she couldn't always be such an introvert. "What is your name?" Koko asked softly.

She felt very awkward, to say the least. While the girl wasn't usually expressive, she could feel her firm, unemotional expression turn into some weird smile. Koko, tired of warring with herself, finally gave up. She took a few steps away from the newcomer, for safety precautions, before beckoning for the other girl to follow her. "Let's explore!" Koko didn't mean to sound commanding, but she did have an urge to find out more about the Grounds at Hogwarts, and perhaps the girl could make a friend as well.

"Let's explore!" the caramel haired girl that Sapphire had spoken to said in a slightly demanding way. Sapphire glanced at the bunny still curled up on her shoulder and then back at the girl, who was already heading in the direction of the forest, her golden eyes fixed ahead.

When she caught up to the girl, she noticed that the other 11-year-old was a Slytherin. "You asked what my name was," she said. "It's Sapphire. Sapphire Riddle." The look of utter shock on her face was priceless. Sapphire laughed a little, her normally emotionless expression melting into a sort of soft smile that still didn't seem right to her.

Within a few seconds her face had melted back into the normal emotionless facade and she picked the little rabbit off of her shoulder, holding it between her hands. "I found this little guy when I was out in the woods earlier," she said quietly.

She placed it back on her shoulder and let it nestle back in its place against her collar bone. She let her blue eyes travel around in the woods, looking at the peculiar trees and other things. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you out here?" she asked, listening to her boots crunching in the snow.

She wasn't suspicious, but she was solely curious -- of the caramel haired girl's past, demeanor, and anything else. So, why not be direct?

"It's Sapphire. Sapphire Riddle."
Koko felt herself go slack-jawed before she could stop herself. She could only realise that they shared a surname. Riddle. The other Riddle was following her already, seeming ready to explore but also unsure of what to do. Sapphire laughed at Koko's shock, and realising that she had portrayed the emotion she felt, Koko clenched her teeth and set her eyes ahead with determination.

Koko felt her combat boots crush the snow below her, a feeling that gave her a sickening form of joy. It was nice to be able to crush something without actually hurting it. "Riddle, eh?" Koko asked quietly, knowing that her hesitation could make the other child feel somewhat suspenseful and also curious. She didn't add her own name yet. Perhaps she would.

"That rabbit looks fluffy," she noted aloud as she kept walking, hearing Sapphire's own boots pat in the snow behind her. The snow very well did get on Koko's nerves, as she could easily slip in it, but at the moment she didn't care. Sapphire replied with the fact that she'd found the rabbit in the woods earlier, and then she added a question to ask Koko.

Why am I out here? It seemed such an easy question to answer, at least at first. However, the Slytherin knew that questions had deep layers to them, layers that needed to be analysed and then broken down further. In fact, Koko could use the hidden depths that she found to buy her time on how she would act about her name. "No, I don't mind you asking," Koko began, choosing her words carefully as a snowflake landed on her nose. "I suppose that I'm out here because no one really wants to come out in this sort of weather and I originally wished to be alone. Koko paused before quickly adding, " No one except you, apparently."

She didn't want to walk any further, so instead she leaned back against a cedar tree and let out a breath, watching it fog up the air. "My name is Koko," she said softly against the sound of snow crunching under the feet of a few brave animals. "Koko... Koko Riddle."

YOU FORGOT A QUOTATION MARK ON IT! "I suppose that I'm out here because no one really wants to come out in this sort of weather and I originally wished to be alone. Koko paused before quickly adding, "No one except you, apparently." YOU NEED ONE AFTER ALONE

Sapphire, of course, knew that the caramel haired girl's first name was Koko. But she was shocked that her last name was Riddle. The only sign that she was shocked was her bright blue eyes, which had widened to the size of saucers. This isn't real... is it?

Sapphire didn't think that she had any lost sibling, but if it was from before her parents' death, which was a fuzzy time, as she'd only been 3, it was entirely possible. Either that, or she'd completely blocked out the memories. She'd read about things like that.

That would explain the interest and shock the other girl had demonstrated when Sapphire had mentioned her last name. So, now you know -- there's another with your surname, said the voice in her head, which was seemingly independent from the rest of her functioning mind.

"Shut up..." she accidently said aloud.

She looked up to see Koko looking at her strangly. Sapphire looked down again and grumbled under her breath about the voice ruining her life. It's not going to get any better, she thought at the same time as the voice.

She let a soft sigh escape through her parched lips and walked over to the cedar, sliding down and sitting on the roots, letting the rabbit curl up in my lap. And now we have another mystery to solve...

Goodness, sorry! I was half asleep as I wrote that. My apologies. I'll try to have more quotation marks today.
A sister. She could have had a sister. That was what surprised her the most. "A-are you... are y-you adopted?" Koko stammered, disbelief hiding under the depths of her usually sugarcoated voice. If the other Riddle was adopted, that would be way too much of a coincidence. Koko knew that her parents had died; her mother was very responsible of reminding Koko of that fact.

"Shut up..."

Koko's head snapped back, her hair flying around. She cocked an eyebrow to portray her curiosity at what had provoked the remark. Koko could see snowflakes lodged in the few locks of hair that had landed in her face. "I didn't really say much," Koko muttered, staring at Sapphire with her piercing golden eyes. Eyes that, she realised, had the same shape as Sapphire's. It was a small observation, but useful all the same. "Your eyes look like mine. Not the colour, but the shape," Koko said indifferently. It was just a fact. If she was reciting a fact, she would speak in a voice that was almost monotone. It was just part of her personality. What if we're really related!?! she thought. They needed to do some research... what if they really were related? Koko suppressed a shudder from the cold, trying not to seem revolted at the prospect of relation to Sapphire. She forced a smile across her lips, and then she added, ”Follow me, Riddle? Help me research, Riddle?”

"Follow me, Riddle? Help me research, Riddle?" Koko said. Sapphire also recalled her making a remark about when she'd told the voice to shut up.

Sapphire nodded. "And, when I said shut up, it wasn't directed towards you," she said. "It was directed at the stupid voice in my head that won't shut up." Her words were shockingly venemous at the mention of the voice. Koko nodded in acknowledgement.

She took the topic of voices surprisingly well. If it had been her step-sisters -- she shuddered at the thought. She could here there snide voices. "It's really not good if you here voices... Oh dear, you must be going insane!" the twins had said enthusiastically when they'd heard. She clutched her head and halted, trying to keep her cool.

"You asked if I was adopted?" she said quietly. Koko looked back at her and nodded. "To answer you question... Yes. I am adopted." The caramel haired girl looked like she'd just discovered a scientific breakthrough unintentionally, the look on her face was so shocked. "Why do you want to know?" she asked.

Then it hit her like a cold dead fish tail hitting her in the face. She could have a sister. An actual, biological sister. She tried not to be hurt when the other girl looked a little bit appalled at the fact.

It still did though, because the other girl was judging based off of what she'd seen of Sapphire so far. "Research could solve a few problems..." she said. But that still left so many unanswered...

So... it doesn't bother me as much as it would bother most people, but it still does a little bit--the godmodding. Like when you had Koko nod, and also when you had her look astonished. It's against the site rules, unless you have explicit permission from the person whose character you're godmodding. I'm okay with just a little bit of you doing it, such as having Koko move where she is, but her expressions... I don't know why the expressions are what bugs me. Just her expressions and replies are what I'd like to have others avoid doing. It's okay if you want to have her move her hands, legs, etc., unless it's in the form of a nod or head shake. I'll still play along right now. Just letting you know.

"I hear voices, too." They weren't just her self-doubt. No, it was something different. Koko knew she wasn't insane. She just heard things that nobody else heard. Koko didn't say it in the same venomous was as Sapphire had; instead, she said it quietly. She wasn't ashamed of admitting it, but she didn't want to say it loudly either. In fact, it was partially because she wasn't ashamed that she said it without bitterness.

Koko stayed silent, pacing the woods. Her feet crunched into the snow, and her hair blew behind her, snow still caught in it. She knew without looking that the tips of her ears would be red from the subzero frosty wind. Koko was too... no, she wasn't stupid. She was too reckless to even draw up a hood. The Slytherin didn't even wear a scarf. She wasn't too cold, at least not yet. Koko saw a few courageous birds set foot in the snow and try to pull out worms. She didn't disturb them.

"Yes, researching is a good idea. Let's compare stories. Okay, so we're both adopted. That narrows a bit down. We each have similar shaped eyes, and are surnames are the same. We're both first years... You're eleven, right? When is your birthday?" Koko interrogated. There was hardly any emotion in her voice but for a growing curiosity. A growing curiosity that her new friend might actually be her sister.

I'm so sorry! I didn't know it would be a problem...

Sapphire was surprised that Koko didn't seem bitter about the voices. Except, maybe she had it different. Maybe the the voices in her head weren't driving her insane like they were Sapphire. "My birthday is April 24," she said quietly.

The facts were practically laid out right in front of the two girls. The only things missing were real proof, like a family tree, and full on confirmation that they had the same birthday. She stood still, a pensive look on her face as she tried to think of what else they could do.

She jumped a little when the little bunny moved into her hood, which was down, as her hair was being blown around and her and she had no cover other than the robes. The wind bit at her ankles as she recomposed herself. She'd almost forgotten about the rabbit. "Do you suppose the library would have anything on family trees?" she asked.

There was also another possiblilty... The family trees might be in the Restricted Section she voiced her thoughts to Koko and retreated back into her own head. Is there anything that we're missing? she thought. ... Or anyone?

That thought was worrying -- for reasons other than the fact that she didn't know where it had come from. How many dark secrets could her past hold?
