I can't believe I'm lost

"Maybe, or they just need not be the first year, you know." Luna sighed and stood next to her. Of course she wanted to sit down too, however, the floor was too... dirty, and she didn't like it at all.

Luna was just wandering around Hogwarts as usual, however, the school was bigger than she thought. "Can't believe that I'm lost. Good job Luna." To be honest, she knew that the dinner would start soon, but she wasn't too hungry. Actually, she could go there and talk to her friends but... She needed to have one first. Luna mocked herself and sighed.

She kept walking, and sometimes just stood somewhere and rested. The little snake knew that she would just waste her energy if she tried to run. Another soft sigh came from her mouth. What if she couldn't find the way out before ten o'clock? Luna didn't want to lose her house points on the first week...

She didn't bring anything else other than her wand. However, she wasn't allowed to use it... "I should bring a book about Hogwarts next time..." She wasn't sure if there was a map of the school, but she didn't care. Suddenly she heard a voice of a girl.

Is that a ghost? She looked at the girl again and decided to come near her. After seeing the blue and bronze uniform that that girl was wearing. Luna decided to stop. What is a Ravenclaw doing at a place like this? Ah... so she is lost too... After a while, she decided to talk to that girl. She couldn't find any reasons not to do that. Luna was lost and she was lost too. In addition, she wasn't interested in hating a person that she didn't even know, and she didn't hate the Ravenclaw either.

“Very true...very true indeed.” Alix said shaking her head and standing up with her arm outstretched to shake the first year slytherins hand, “I’m Alix Thompson, and you are?”

As Alix waited for the other girl to respond she observed her closely. She was a slytherin obviously because of her robes with a green tie and slytherin crest. Just like her own robes that bore a Ravenclaw crest. The stranger looked not so friendly but then again she was just as lost as her. Even Alix thought she probably looks intimidating as well with her wildly curly hair and determined eyes. Being lost in what she thought was a deserted chamber wasn’t what Alix had hoped to be doing during dinner. However now maybe she can make a friend.

Then Alix started to worry, what if the stranger wouldn’t like her because she was a Ravenclaw. She understood from the first day at hogwarts that inter-house cooroperation wasn’t always the case here. Many houses didn’t get along quiet well as she can see. More specifically the older years, probably quidditch and house cup rivalry but nevertheless. Alix still was curious about the slytherin girl. She was almost compelled to get to know her. For some reason she wanted to be her friend.

Luna looked at Alix's hand and shook it. She wasn't expected the girl to be friendly with her, or agree with what she just said. In addition, the little snake wondered if the girl she just met knew that she was from Slytherin or not. "I am Luna. Luna Choi. It's nice to meet you, sadly this is not really a good place, right?"

The little snake gave her a smile and continued, "I am a first year Slytherin, and I am pretty sure that you know which house am I, right? Well, you are a Ravenclaw after all..." Alix must be intelligent just like the other Ravenclaws that she knew. In addition, just by looking at her uniform, the others could know which house she belonged to.

"May I ask what kind of things do you bring with? I usually wander around Hogwarts and has never been lost before, until now, so I only have my wand with me." Maybe we could get out of here faster if she had something else other than her wand... She was sure that the girl of Ravenclaw wanted to get out of here as fast as she could because dinner would start soon, or maybe it had already started.

To be honest, Luna was pretty sure that she wanted to be friends with the girl in front of her. Since she almost joined Ravenclaw, so she couldn't hate the people there at all. In addition, for Luna, making rivals would only make her losing house points. And she wanted to learn and earn house points than being jealous of the house/s which had more points than hers.

Alix shook the girl's hand smiling back at her. When Luna introduced herself to Alix she replied, "It really isn't the best I'm guessing." She laughed a little as she replied, not sure whether it was nervous laughter or not. She has always been awkward in first meetings, not knowing what to say and what not to say. She was however pretty good at observing people, so much in fact that she could tell Luna look conflicted. Over exactly what, Alix did not know.

Luna asked her wheather she had brought anything else while she wandered around besides just her wand. Alix started rumaging through her drawstring backpack, enchanted to never break and carry hundreds of books. She started taking out books and paints and chocolate frog cards until she found some thing to help them. Finally she found the correct book, A Hogwarts: A History. Alix quickly threw everything she took out bck in her magical bag and zipped it up tight.

Turning to Luna, Alix raised the book in the air to explain, "In the back of this textbook is a map of Hogwarts. If we didn't randomly stumble on a new or lost or secret corridor we may be able to tell where we are. If the latter is the case...well theres also desriptions, more or less, of known lost and secret corridors that can help us too."

Luna nodded at her after hearing the reply from Alix, "Still, I'm glad that I meet a person who is in the same situation as me, or I don't know what to do other than wandering around and can't find the way out...." Just by thinking of that made she felt worse. She wanted to go back to her dorm and reading, or maybe just staring and let her thought flew to somewhere. Going around the school wasn't bad, however, she didn't want to be lost.

"You sure have a lot of books..." Luna mumbled when she saw Alix kept taking out books from her backpack. Some of them looked familiar to her, but she couldn't recognized most of them. Well, she shouldn't be too surprising, after all, Alix was a Ravenclaw. Finally, seemed like the little Raven found what she needed. She looked at the book that Alix was raising. Luna quickly read the title and realized that she hadn't read that book before. The little Snake tried to remember the title, she should read it later...

"Great that we have a map now... Glad that you bring your backpack with." Luna gave her a quick smile and then she continued talking, "I think this place is on the second floor or the third because I remembered that I passed the first floor. However, I am not really sure, since the latter, you know. And, I thought you were resting? We don't really have to go now, I don't know what time it is but I am pretty sure that we still have a lot of times before ten o'clock..." Luna was actually a bit worried about the Ravenclaw girl. She looked a bit tired before they met each other...

Alix looked at Luna thoughtfully, appreciating that she recognized her tiredness. She had a rough first day and barely had any sleep the night before. All she could think about all last night were her classes and the workload. Sure Alix, being a Ravenclaw, loved learning and books and creativity. Nevertheless she was the biggest procrastinator that Hogwarts had probably ever seen. Granted she did work best under pressure and on demand but at the end of the day it still stressed her out.

“Yeah...thanks. I had a really long day, history of magic was a bore and you don’t even wanna know how many times I got lost before this...” Alix slide back down the wall as she explained why she was so tired, “It’s just...so overwhelming you know? I barely slept a wink last night! And honestly every night since I have gotten my letter! A mix between excitement and nerves I suspect...but still I really need to rest. A dreamless, peaceful nap can cure anything.” Alix yawned and stretched her arms out as she spoke, “I noticed before that you didn’t sit down...is it because the floor is dirty? I have a blanket in here...wiat a second I’ll get it-it’s somewhere in this bag....aha! Got it!” Alix took out the purple blanket, her favorite color, and layed it down on the floor.

“If we’re gonna be stuck here for a little at least sit down?” She said smiling up at Luna.

"Why are you saying thank you... It's not that I was worried about you..." Luna looked away and then continued, "Well, I can understand what you mean. History of magic is quite hard to remember.." To be honest, sometimes she didn't focus on the professor either...

"So that's why you must be quite tired now. If you are so tired, maybe tonight you will have a better sleep than yesterday." A soft sigh came from Luna's mouth. She secretly praised Alix. The little Raven was good at reading the others'emotion...

"Well, thank you." Luna sat down next to her, "You must have a lot of useful thing in your bag." Unlike her, she even didn't bring her backpack with.

"I have met a lot of Ravenclaw these days, including you" The little snake talked while she was looking at the ceiling and playing with her lavender hair, "Before Mister Sorting Hat told you to be in Ravenclaw, which house did you think that you will be? Or do you like any other house than Ravenclaw?" Since they would just sit down and rested, it would be really awkward if they didn't talk to each other. That was the reason why Luna started to talk first.

Alix pondered on Luna’s question for a moment...her thoughts going back to what she heard in her head as soon as the sorting hat was placed on her.

“Ah yes right...you’re courageous and loyal...even more cunning and determined...ah however...yes...all is done with wisdom...

Alix knew this meant she fit the criteria for all the houses, but it was how she went about her actions with logic and wisdom that made her a Ravenclaw. The house she most represented with however was in fact slytherin like the girl sitting next to her. What if they had been in the same house? Would their meeting have been different?

“Actually the sorting hat mentioned all the houses at some point...” Alix explained further, “They mentioned Slytherin the most though while commenting on my cunning nature and determination. I was sure I would be in Slytherin, I’ve always been determined to do my best and be the best I could be. I’m not tho a true slytherin I guess since every action and decision I make is first molded by my prior knowledge and logic. No matter how courageous, loyal and cunning I may be... everything I do is impacted by wisdom.” Alix finished taking a deep breath in...that was the longest she talked straight to someone ever since she got to school. The sorting hat gave her a new perspective on herself, she always knew the obvious traits. However she never thought that how she get to her decisions and actions could affect her house so much.

“What about you? Any house other then slytherin you could fit into? Any new discoveries the sorting hat gave you?” Alix asked looking at Luna with a wondering expression. She was quiet curious of her, her words didn’t match up quite with how Alix read her. When she commented she wasn’t worried was the first time she noticed it. Her actions and movements told that she was, but her words contradicted it.

"All the houses?" Luna turned her gaze to Alix and asked again. She hadn't seen anything about Hufflepuff in the girl next to her, however, she could clearly see the others. The little snake expected that she would find a Gryffindor wandering around here than a Ravenclaw. With that much books in Alix's bag, she could clearly see a Ravenclaw near her. And of course, how could she not see an Almost-Slytherin near her?

"Interesting. But you know, Ravenclaw isn't a bad house either." And you could easily make friends, she showed a bit of sadness in her eyes and then closed it to hide, "It mentioned Slytherin, Ravenclaw, and a bit of Hufflepuff," she wasn't too surprised when she knew that Gryffindor wasn't mentioned. Luna could understand herself the most, and she knew that she wasn't brave enough to join Gryffindor.

"Mr. Shorting Hat told me that I could be a small version of my mother, a Ravenclaw. And then it asked me if I wanted to join Slytherin and Ravenclaw more. However, I chose not to answer it, because I was sure that it knew the answer, but it just wanted to mess with me." In addition, she was sure that even if she chose Ravenclaw, Mr. Shorting Hat would still sort her in Slytherin.

"Before going to Hogwarts, I thought that I would be a Ravenclaw. Books reading is one of my hobbies, after all. Still, I wanted to join Slytherin more, maybe because the way my brother told me about it? I don't know." Luna opened her eyes again and asked Alix, "By the way, are you a Muggle-born or a Wizard-born? Or are you a Half-blood? Or something else?" Luna knew that she didn't care about Wizard-born or not, she was just curious about Alix. However, she won't admit it to the little Raven, she just... didn't want to.
