The Library was always so warm, especially if one was sitting close to a fireplace or torch to try and get the best light available for the hour that it was. It was after dinner, the sun was dipping into the horizon so that it might put itself to bed as well, like most of the student body would often be setting itself ready to do. If not going to bed directly, as least retreating to the comfort and sanctuary of their respective Common Rooms to wind down from the day.

And then there was Taliesin. She was by no means the only person trying to take advantage of the extra quiet that came from visiting the library after the school day was done. It provided the perfect environment for plenty of other students who wanted the quiet, low traffic hours to just concentrate and get some work done. That's what she'd been doing, scribbling out an essay for History of Magic and trying to get through the rest of the homework due by the end of the week.

However, somewhere between the warm lighting, cozy warmth, and the dry words of her textbook, her eyes just got so tired. It'd been a long day, after all. Early classes, dense and boring reading, dismal weather now that autumn was starting to settle into the air. It was a day of naturally low energy, especially when even the sky outside had had trouble off and on keeping the grey at bay. At some point that she couldn't quite pin, Taliesin had put her head down while she read yet another riveting paragraph about a thrilling political event in the 1500s that she was sure absolutely enthralled and excited the people of the time...and the next thing she knew she was out like a light on top of her book.

Silas enters at quite the unhurried pace he seems incredibly focused on the space around him looking at every detail. He finds himself occasionally bumping into things apologizing gently to those he disturbs and sometimes simply to the books he has knocked over.

Finally finding a relatively empty table near the seemingly well mannered orange haired girl he sits cross legged and puts a few of his textbooks laid out. Then he looks up at her. He is a bit uncomfortable by it but deems it important to acknowledge that he is somewhat invading her space. He whispers to her.

"Terribly sorry, I do not mean to bother you. It seems like it is incredibly busy in here I hope you do not mind me sitting here? I will do my best to be no louder then a silent phantom"

He then goes to open his book on fantastic beasts looking it over it making sure to begin taking notes on not only the creatures but on exactly how to deal or tend to them. There is a bit of a glint in his eyes as he looks at these creatures. Clearly there is a great interest.

The girl was, for all intents and purposes, gone to the world. One really should not doubt the power of a good nap on a school table top. Especially if the person in question is already prone to questionable measures of acceptable sleep due to spending their nights doing literally anything else but sleeping. Which Taliesin was prone to do. Not necessarily because she didn't want to have one good night of sleep at a decent hour. Maybe even sleep in an hour or two if it were a weekend. There was just so much that needed to be done if she wanted to ensure top marks. And top marks required some unsavory sacrifices.

The human body doesn't really appreciate the sacrifices that need to be made for things like grades and accomplishments.

Taliesin flinched slightly at the sudden sound of a voice so close to her, only half comprehending what was actually going on as she floated in the strange place in-between sleep and awake. She whined a bit in the crook of her arm, "No phantoms... all done," she mumbled groggily, giving a halfhearted twitch of her hand, as though to dismiss the voice away; not even bothering to open her eyes, "Banshee essay... knarl... stings... billywigs... alihotsy... quills..." she muttered before snuggling her face back into her textbook.

The order might've been wrong, but one had to commend the dedication to somewhat knowing the components for a Laughing Potion while half asleep.

At first he is entirely confused by what seemingly was a random string of words, he sits quietly for a moment before realizing she is indeed sleeping and evidently has enough recognition to list off ingredients and while he is not particularly fond of potions class he does find this impressive. With a smirk he adjusts slightly to get more comfortable deciding not to bother her so to speak. He is quite aware of the toll of studying and based on her unconscious knowledge and her textbook acting as a pillow that she likely has been studying quite intently.

There is one particular section of his book that seems to be a bit harder for him to understand. Speaking somewhat under his breath contemplating what the meaning is, a bit annoyed he does not already know, he drops his quill as it slips from his hands. Unfortunately as he goes to catch it, that sends his book tumbling to the ground making a rather loud sound. Embarrassed his face flushes immediately as he apologizes to those around him and he turns back to her clearly attempting to slowly lower himself quietly as he cringes quite hard at the reality of the situation.

Its so lovely when one can enjoy a peaceful rest after a long day of bustle and studying and preparing to be the best version of one's self. No muss, no fuss, nothing to truly worry about as the world muddled on with ease and tranquility.

Now if only that was a possible thing to enjoy today, as the loud crashing of a textbook echoed shattered the evening peace of the Library.

The sheer noise and suddenness it all was an absolute shock to the girl just across the table. She startled harshly, sitting back up with such a force she tipped the chair back and prompted tumbled to the ground with all the grace the book before her had possessed, "Oww..." she whinged, sprawled on the floor, still groggy and half confused how she even got into this position. It was moments like this when she was properly convinced that the Universe was simply out to get her at every conceivable opportunity if she lets her guard down too long. Not even a power nap is safe.

She groaned sitting up. Part of her was glad she was still half asleep, otherwise she might've simply died from embarrassment from the entire situation.

His eyes go wide as she falls over her hips back up quickly and darts over to attempt to help her but yanks his hand back as she sits up properly

"I am terribly sorry are you alright? I didn't mean to alarm you I was a bit to clumsy and well.. clearly it happened nonetheless. I hope you don't mind I was using the available space to begin my studies or more accurately continue them. I imagine your quite tired maybe resting for the rest of the day would be good for you? Or maybe you simply nodded off I am unsure.

He continues to ramble a bit under his breathe as he visibly is rubbing his hand over his knuckles feel quite bad actually as he is most definitely not making a good impression.

"If you care to know it, my name is Silas Vance. First year as you can likely tell, I suppose I'm not quite used to the way of things here. Maybe I shouldn't have sat here with you sleeping, I apologize for any possible unknown, to me anyways, procedures that may be known amongst the students."

The girl rubbed her eyes, trying to wake herself up a bit before a boy suddenly appeared, rambling and babbling on apologies before she was even quite sure what in the world was going on exactly. She never was very good at being quick to wake up, and it took her a moment or two of his babbling to piece together what he was even going on about, "I'm fine." she assured, still a bit sluggish as her whole purpose slowly came back to her, waking her up a bit, "I-I haven't got time to rest yet, I still have work to do. I was just... resting my eyes. Just for a moment." it was a weak and lame excuse, but in her defense, she wasn't awake enough yet to fire on all cylinders.

Taliesin smoothed some hair out of her face before embarking on the awkward act of getting herself off the floor, "There are no known procedures amongst students I know of." she muttered as she climbed to her feet, still a bit discombobulated. Perhaps if she wasn't so sleep addled, or perhaps if the boy hadn't seemed so distressed and upset over the whole situation, Taliesin might've remembered how mortifying this whole situation was. Somewhere in her chest, she could feel that spark of anxiety, but was able to swallow it down for the sake that she really didn't want to stir up an even bigger scene as she quietly picked up her chair and put it back in its place, "Oh- Apologies, I'm forgetting myself." she realized, brushing off her trousers before offering her hand, "I'm Taliesin Annwyn. I'm sure its a pleasure to meet you." she offered a halfhearted smile.

He blinks a bit unsure if this is truly alright before offering back a bit of a forced smile. He gently takes her hand and shakes it.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well."

He lets of her hand sitting cross legged again.

"If you don't mind me asking what house are you from? I don't believe I have seen you around even though truth be told I'm not one remember people to well unless I've formally met them. Much in the same way we met now... Minus the disturbance of a nap and any falling over from chairs "

He has calmed down quite a bit his face looking more neutral now as he prods at his book at big flipping till he finds something interesting. To him the little interaction he's had is already quite draining as is especially after he likely is receiving looks by those who have had there silence disturbed. He does however look back up at her if she chooses to respond doing his relatively best attempt to meet her gaze. He often, despite his effort, fails at doing that as he ends up looking just past her or down back at his book.

Taliesin took her place back at the table, rubbing her eyes and flipping through her papers and book trying to recall where exactly she'd left off at. Why did History of Magic have to be so painfully boring? She loved history, but the book itself was so unbearably dry that it made it nearly impossible to actually enjoy learning from it.

Her thoughts were interrupted once more by the boy -Silas, she recalled- choosing to pipe up again. Her eyes flickered from the boy for a moment before going back to her book. Yes, it was rude, she knew. It was only polite to give someone you're undivided attention when they were trying to engage you in conversation. But Taliesin figured in the spirit of attempting to be casual and also trying to work at the same time, she might be forgiven, "I'm in Slytherin, Second Year." she explained, her focus on maintaining her multitasking too honed in to allow for nerves to bungle her up, "I'm afraid I don't get out a lot. My studies keep me occupied and my parents don't accept bad grades, so it doesn't leave much time for wandering about."

He looks at her for a moment not saying anything. Then he looks back down flipping a page.

" I see, something that seems to be somewhat common amongst the students I have met so far. In regards to your parents I mean. I do not believe I have spoken with a second year yet though, it is good to meet you. I am sure you are incredibly busy, I am happy to sit here silently and study if you prefer it."

At this point he put his original book away and pulls out the book known as: "The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection". A recent interest of his, he never was quite the type to be a fighter but yet he never strayed from a fight either. The fact alone that a book is offered to someone of his age and that dueling seems to be common in this school... Disturbs him. In his muggle school they had nothing close to what is essentially staff sanctioned fighting. His brow furrows a bit at the thought.

He sets the book down finally and begins flipping through the pages trying to shake the thoughts off of him, yet it draws him in.
