Short Time No See
Albeit he was a very tall person for his age, this pile of books was still a struggle. His poor, frail hands were wrapped around the books that leaned on his chest and blocked his field of vision. He had found the delights of the library recently. Even Remy did not know everything about the wizarding world, and he was curious! He hated when teachers tried to shove things and books to read down his throat. He would much rather go with his own pace and pick what he liked to read. If you looked closer to the pile of books he had hoarded, you'd see that there were many things. Something related to astronomy, then something related to the merpeople. You could even find a biography of some famous arithmancer.
He was singing very softly and quietly, his own pleasant voice still echoing in the corridors. He seemed to be the only one in these parts of the castle. In all honesty, Remy was lost. He had the worst sense of direction, and Hogwarts was just a big puzzle made to confuse him. But he didn't worry, he'd find his way out of this corridor. "Tall and tan and young and lovely, the girl from Ipanema goes walking, and when she passes each one she passes goes aaah."
He got a bit distracted and couldn't hear the footsteps that were approaching him. Remy bumped into someone and dropped one of his books. Still unable to see who it was and not bothering to peek, he started slowly bending his knees and reaching for the book in attempts to get it back.
"Sorry about that, I didn't see you," he said in an empty voice, his fingers barely grazing the cover. Damn it, if only his arm was an inch longer, he could get that!

Short Time No See
Today was a better day for Eri. She wasn't fidgety and she was more composed. She wasn't headed for the library. Most people were taller than her since she was kind of short for her age. If only she could grow taller. Sometimes being small helped, but most times it was a bother. Always trying to reach shelves that other people could reach with out using step ladder.
The brunette was carrying her own book. The cover was worn from use. It was Peter Pan and she had kept the book for nine years. It was her aunt's book that she had passed down to Eri. The brunette wasn't paying attention since she was reading the book while walking. Her favorite character had to be Captain Hook. She liked pirates but the pirates in never land were a very good image of pirates.
When she suddenly bumped into something, her small figure fell from the sudden impact and her book went to the ground with a thud. The person was trying to reach for a book so she picked it up. Standing up she put the book back in his stack and started looking for the book she dropped. "It's fine. I want paying attention either. Did you see where my book went?"

Short Time No See
He was about to risk it all and drop all the books to grab this one from the floor. He could hear that the person he bumped on had fallen on their backside, but couldn't bother to help them out just yet. He'd apologize properly the moment he found his book. After all, the librarian would chew him out real good if any of his books were lost or brought back with even a small scratch. Thankfully, his Dame in shining accessories arrived to help him out. She put his book right where it came from, the same stack.
As he heard the familiar female voice ask for where her book was, he started twirling in his place to find it. As he did that, his brain slowly registered who the owner of this particular accent was. To his confusion, he saw his own book about an arithmancer lay on the floor. Ah, right. The one on top of his stack was probably her book. He reached for it and extended his hand towards the girl. He peeked from behind his books and in a millisecond Remy already had a nickname for the girl. "Hey shorty, want to help me out again and pick up my book from down there?" He pointed at the book on the floor with his foot to give her a hint where it was.
When he finally remembered what her name was, a small amiable smile appeared on his face.
"Good to see you, Eri Windstone," he greeted her. He too was in a particularly good mood today. Nothing bad had happened contrary to what usually happened, and he had been surrounded by nothing but good luck. Well, until he got lost in the corridors of this damned maze.

Shorty? Oh now that wasn't nice, but she shrugged it off and saw where he was pointing with his foot. She grabbed the book and laid on top seeing her book she exchanged his book for hers. "I don't particularly like being called shorty. One of these days in going to be taller than a lot of people. Well at least I hope." Eri rubbed her wrist. It was probably just a bruise, but she was stupid enough to try and catch herself when she fell. At least she knew it wasn't broken cause she could move it.
"Hey Remy Alto. Glad you remembered my name. What's with all the books?" Eri asked gesturing to the books. Though she knew if any of those books had scratches the librarian would kill him. She had almost damaged a book one time, but she saved the book.
"So how are you doing today?" Eri said looking at her book making sure it didn't get damaged. This was one of her favorite books and she would die inside of it got damaged. It was a very old book and one more fall could make it break into pieces and she didn't want that.

Once they exchanged their books with each other, he got his own back. Of course he was aware of her probably not liking the nickname shorty. No short person liked their shortness being pointed out, at least not in his experience. Well, she could thank her odds that she was a short girl. Society wasn't as nice to short guys! Besides, she still had lots of time to grow 6 feet tall if she wanted to. It was all in the willpower, wasn't it?
"Maybe you'll grow taller than everyone when Hell freezes two times. If you do grow taller than me one day, I'll buy you 10 chocolate frogs," he joked, knowing very well that that day would never see the dawn, would it? He peeked again to actually see her and not talk to his own books like an idiot. Dodging the question about the books, he blankly stared at her wrist that she was rubbing. Did it hurt a lot? He really hoped that it didn't, he'd probably get in trouble and well...pain was never fun.
"Remy Alto and his books are doing just fine. How about your wrist?" he asked, letting only one of his hands handle all the books and extending his other one to gently grab her wrist. He was a bit rowdy and had no idea of what personal space or privacy was. Perhaps it was due to having so many siblings that he had gotten used to being manhandled every day and poked when he didn't like it. Now that he actually was alone, he'd do it to other people to get the touch he was familiar with.
Looking at it more closely, he finally let it go. "Doesn't look too serious, does it hurt a lot?" he asked, more out of curiosity than worry.

Eri frowned. Nobody believed that she would ever grow taller than them. She just was waiting for her late growth spurt. It would come then she would be the one laughing. Though there was a small chance that that would happen. "My chance is that low? Thanks for making me feel like I have a chance." The brunette said with sarcasm. But one day she would be taller than him. Hopefully if she ever grows.

It was probably just a sprain. Though she didn't want to go to the nurse. "It's probably just a bruise or a sprain. I'll be fine. Do you need help carrying all those books?" Eri just wanted to divert the attention away from her wrist.though she meant what she said about helping him.

He smiled at her snarky and sarcastic reply. Well, he would secretly hope that maybe one day she'd grow as tall as the ceilings. Perhaps then she'd stop wailing. But then again, he promised to buy her 10 chocolate frogs. Judging from how he behaved with money right now, he would be broke then too!
"Anything for you, the protector of unscathed books and gnomes," he said as he curtsied. Remy wasn't even that much taller, maybe 3 inches. But here he was, making fun of a girl who was older than him. He had always had a strong idea of a hierarchy very ingrained in him. No matter how much older someone would be, he'd still feel the need to respect them and carry his duties out. If they were younger, if he wouldn't bully them, he'd maybe even help out.
He looked at her with much suspicion. "Hmm, just a sprain? You know, those could develop to be much worse than what they are right now. And you do seem to be hurt," he pointed out. He wouldn't force her to do anything she did not want, but he wasn't an idiot either. Something just was not right and she seemed awfully alright with it. He, on the other hand, he was not okay with her being hurt. Perhaps she felt like she was a burden. He wondered the reasoning behind her shyness to ask for help.
"You carrying my books? You're dimwitted for a...Ravenclaw?" he still as unsure if she was one. He would just assume that she was due to other options closing out.

Eri smiled at him. "So now I'm the protector of unscathed books and gnomes. Where did gnomes come from?" She said looking at him and rolled her eyes. Why did he say she was the protector of gnomes. It made no sense, but she would just roll with it.
"Remy, I'm fine. Really. I'm serious. It's probably not even that bad." Eri said trying to get him to drop it. "See look it's fine." Eri tried to roll her wrist, but couldn't do it at all. Though she tried to play it off like she was fine. "See just fine."
The brunette laughed. "I'm not dim witted but I offered cause I'm fine and you are carrying so much." Eri slid her Peter Pan book into the bag hanging off her shoulder. Though she did want to help him carry his books so he would ignore her injury. "Okay do you want help or do I just have to take them from you to help?" Eri said crossing her arms and looking at him. If he wouldn't accept her help she would at least walk with him. She had nothing better to do today. Though she wouldn't admit that she was bored.

Short Time No See
He felt a bit embarrassed when she smiled at him. He wasn't really that shy, but girls weirded him out. "Because...gnomes are...short ya know?" he mumbled something under his breath as he squashed his body with the books. Maybe if he'd hug the books, he'd feel less nervous. She tried to show him something with her wrist. Whatever she tried to do, she failed. Her wrist wasn't working like she wanted it to, he could see that. His lips were pouty and his eyes narrowed, he looked at her with much suspicion once again.
"I usually don't like to press things-" he started immediately with a lie and had to stop for a while to think of what he just said. "-but you should, like, totally get that checked out," he shrugged indifferently. Who was he to have any say in this matter, what did he care anyway. It was just a bruise like she said... She kept on insisting that she was fine, and it pissed Remy off. Why was she so ashamed of it? It wasn't like she had something stupid happen to her to get her to this point. It was entirely his fault.
Catching himself in those thoughts, he shook them off. It was her fault, he had just walked with books in his hands. There was nothing wrong that he had done, right? Trying to shake off the guilt with a few excuses in his head, he still felt a bit bad. He snapped back to reality from his trance as she threatened - offered to help him. He growled under his breath like some kind of a werewolf and took a threatening step closer to her. "Mine," he pointed out, twisting his body in a way that she couldn't reach his precious books.

That totally did not make any since, but she shrugged. "Okay then, but I'm pretty sure I'm not that small. At least I hope not." The brunette said trying to make since of his reasoning. Coming to a conclusion that he had to come up with something on the spot she stopped thinking about it.
"I'll get it checked out during Christmas break. We don't have that much longer. Like a week. Don't worry about it. An drew watch where you are going next time. Even though you had books obscuring your view that doesn't mean you can run into anybody you want. You could seriously hurt somebody." Eri said trying to tell him to be more careful. Though it was somewhat her fault too since she was reading while walking, but he didn't know that.
