The weather has finally been getting warmer lately, and Miren found herself walking outside the castle once again. The early evening breeze was slightly ruffling her already messy hair as she slowly made way towards one of the nearby copses in search of solitude and privacy.
Fortunately enough, the place wasn’t occupied by anyone, although traces of other visitors were still here in the form of hearts and letters carved in some of the trees. Miren couldn’t help but scoff at the sight, making her way towards one of the fallen tree trunks where she sat down. Her eyes found a small young bird that landed on the ground a few feet away from her. It was hopping around, most likely looking for anything to eat, and Miren’s usual stoic expression seemed to soften ever so slightly.
While she preferred a solitary life, there were times when she felt incredibly lonely. Times when her mind got flooded by memories of her mother, who she’d lost almost three years ago. She didn’t cry – honestly, she wasn’t sure if she even could, but there was a hint of silent anguish in her eyes, which she couldn’t hide. Not this time. Hence, her previous search for a quiet place with nobody to see.
Not taking her eyes off her feathered companion, Miren let her hands find the jacket she was wearing. The very same one, which used to belong to her mother and was still a bit too big for her. Slowly, she brought the edge of it towards her face, burying her nose in it. It had long lost the smell of the familiar perfume, yet Miren never stopped doing this out of habit. Or perhaps in a naive hope of finding even the slightest hint of what used to be.

Walking for a bit Angel reached the grounds. She wasn't alone though, many others were around the area. She wanted to be somewhere else, maybe go grab her sketchbook but this time all she wanted to do was sit and enjoy the environment. April was the time for showers which Angel didn't mind, she liked April Showers and rain overall.

Scanning the space she noticed another person in the area, she payed no mind to the person but she can tell it was a Slytherin.

Noticing the little bird near the person she tilted her head and used her sight to see them more clearly. The bird was on the ground and looking for food. She took out her sketchbook and painted the bird.

The air seemed to be sucked out, it was getting dryer by the second and the earth seemed to stopped for a little while but a rush of wind encrusted the trees as they swayed with motion, and the spring green leaves twirling in a dance. Angel smiled the world was cool again with the swish of wind.

Continuing to draw she noticed that the person she saw still stayed under the tall trees.

Angel looked over and cocked her head as her face was painted with curiosity. Her sketchbook was held tightly with her hair pushing slightly to the side.

The drops of the rain shower were falling down through the leafed branches of the trees around, soaking into the girl’s dark brown, messy hair, and streaming down her face. Yet, Miren didn’t care. If anything, it felt good. Like she was finally crying after a long time of being unable to, although her own tears didn’t fall. Like the clouds were crying for her.
Closing her eyes and with nose still buried in her mother’s jacket, Miren took another sniff, she knew would be meaningless. She tried to at least imagine the comforting smell it once used to have, but only to realize that after three years, she couldn’t even remember it clearly anymore. I’m starting to forget... Her grip on the jacket tightened in silent anguish and frustration while her other hand subconsciously tightened around a piece of a slightly detached bark on the fallen tree trunk she was sitting on. It was old enough to break under the strength of her spasmodic grip.
Miren finally opened her eyes, let go of the jacket, and looked at her other hand, which was now holding a piece of the bark. Some of it had gotten under her fingernails, even breaking one of them. In that moment, however, she didn’t feel it. She could only see a single drop of blood running down her finger mixed with the rain. She stared at it for a while with a blank expression until the thought returned. I don’t remember. It only awakened another wave of strong emotion, making her let out a short, frustrated shriek and throw the bark against one of the trees in front of her with full force, where it shattered into even smaller pieces.
The startled bird was gone in a second, leaving the girl alone. Well, not entirely. Unbeknownst to Miren, one of her peers seemed to join her while she had been trying to deal with the mess in her head. Only now did she finally notice the other girl. Any signs of Miren’s inner torment disappeared from her face in milliseconds, hidden under her cold, distant expression tinged with pure exasperation. "What." She let out while glaring daggers at the other girl, her voice even sharper than usual.

Angel saw that the girl had noticed her. Angel looked aloof right now she hadn't noticed she looked like she was staring at the clouds. She stand up and straighten her uniform.

"Oh hello there! My name's Angel, Angel Dayes!" she said with a calm voice.

"Hope you don't mind me being here!" Angel says with a little laugh

The girl looked tensed almost in mourning as Angel would have described it herself. The clouds began to settle in as the air crisped, she twitched her nose with the smell of green leaves and blossoms that smelled like cherry.

She grabbed her sketchbook and painted the flowers, she liked lilac and lilies she couldn't pick between the two they each have their own qualities as a perfect flower, Angel saw herself as a dhalia maybe.

"What's your name?" she asked quietly not to disturb any of the animals around the bushes.

It was a apparent that the girl probably did not want to talk but Angel wanted to try anyway, she had her chance and decided to take it to talk to someone.

"Does the weather look absolutely fine today? I believe so! I love the smell of crisp spring air and the lovely cherry blossoms that grow in the trees this season!" Angel said with delight and whimsy.

Angel grabbed her tiny brush and painted, almost like she didn't mind the company.

Miren didn’t know what she expected from the girl, but the girl acting like nothing happened certainly wasn’t on Miren’s list of possibilities. That’s why, even after almost instantly returning to her usual stoic front, a hint of confusion seeped into her expression. Unfortunately for the girl, who had introduced herself as Angel, surprise didn’t mean a positive change in Miren’s behaviour. On the contrary, she couldn’t decide what annoyed her more. Was it Angel’s presence? Was it Angel not announcing herself sooner? Was it the way Angel acted – like Miren just didn’t have an emotional outburst in front of her? She couldn’t tell. What she knew for sure, however, was the fact that she didn’t appreciate the girl’s presence. Not one bit.

“Mind? No, not at all. I was overdue for another nuisance,” Miren retorted curtly to Angel’s question before adding an even sharper: “It’s not like privacy is something important.”

Miren wasn’t a pleasant company on her good days, but now? Angel was quite unfortunate to meet her in such a state. Though the long-haired girl didn’t seem to mind, calmly sketching something in her notebook, which Miren watched, glaring daggers at her. It only stirred more anger in her, and when she asked for a name, Miren couldn’t help another retort: “I fail to see how my name concerns you, Angel. She practically spat it out, not taking her cold gaze off the girl.

But alas, as if Miren wasn’t irritated and annoyed enough, Angel’s next question was about… “Are you seriously asking me about the weather right now?” It was hard to tell whether it was the core of the question or the nonchalance with which Angel asked, but it only added more fuel to the already roaring fire. “But sure! We’re talking about our likes now, right? I’ll bite! I happen to just love my alone time and silence.” Miren feigned a sudden interest in the conversation, which seemed very unnatural for someone like her. Even then, the exasperation in her voice was more than clear.

“Mind? No, not at all. I was overdue for another nuisance!” the girl resorted being a bit defensive

“It’s not like privacy is something important.” the girl added

After that though it seems like she did not want anything to do with her or perhaps anybody at the moment. Angel nodding along the sword words that pass through. No hard feelings Angel thought the girl looked bothered and agitated. Solitude well most snakes prefer that and their cold blooded, not like she was either, she did not see herself like the rest of the people in her house. Angel like she always was gave the girl a chance to regroup herself? Gather herself together? Either way it was clear for her that the person wanted space, and it was respected.

Asking about the weather did not help at all. Like a cat hissing or a animal that's wild scared and maybe on alarm on anything that goes in front of them. Sharped tongued

"Ang kahihiyan..." Angel says with a bit of a sharp sigh at the end. Very angry, voice was loud no need to even go closer than she already was. No matter what her voice remained soft and cool, how a tree remains unshaken during a ravenous storm. Angel looking over to the girl smiled slightly her face not wrinkled and tense but in a way she was patient.

Despite Miren’s sharp words, she used as a defense, which were definitely supposed to draw the girl away, Angel stayed. And once again, Miren didn’t know what agitated her more. Was it the fact that the girl stayed here? Was it her actually being silent and not arguing back for a change? This wasn’t the usual reaction she got from people. Most of them got defensive, fought back, or just left as if there was no point in dealing with someone like her. And yet, Angel was silent but still here.

Gritting her teeth in frustration, Miren turned her head away, wrapping her mother’s jacket around herself even more as if it brought her more comfort. She heard the girl say something, which she couldn’t understand, but was too annoyed and proud to ask about.

It took a few minutes of silence before Miren finally spoke up again. “Why are you still here?” Her voice was still cold and distant, as if she were still bothered by Angel’s sheer presence, but her words didn’t cut as deeply as before. She still refused to look at the girl again, though. She tried to push back all the shame she felt for appearing to be a broken mess in front of someone. To hide even the slightest hint of regret that gnawed at the back of her mind for losing her cool and looking emotional.

Questions about her presence did not shake her one bit. what was most off putting about the Slytherin was how much she just won't quit. No matter how much people shrugged her off. Angel could leave and she didn't. What was more baffling was how calm she was even in confrontation. People hated how cool or reserved she was. No she won't give a reaction. If anything the girl interested her more. Quick tempered and perhaps bothered too, strange indeed. Walking up now dusting herself off she looked over once again to the troubled girl. Very intrigued she spoke either for the last time or forever and ever.

"Well you are not the only one who wants a bit of silence. I won't be here for long so don't get all worked up!" she smiled

"This girl, she really looks troubled and anxious at best. This day could not have been more poorly for her! Almost like she's grieving."

Angel had met a lot of people who were angsty and bitter. To her surprise it seems to be her very own house that's anxious and bitter with a quick tongue. Although not all of them she was beginning to see a pattern. One that she was did not happen because it will only fit the stereotypes right. Shaking her head a bit due to her hair blocking her face it was starting to become bright and warm. At last the sun has made its appearance to what was about to be a very melancholy day. This made her at least a bit hopeful and optimistic about her situation at hand. Negativity was not healthy for anyone feeling down and burnout was okay but all the time? It will only make the blues feel worse.

♣ OOC note: One more big (and hopefully the last) apology and a huge thanks for your understanding and patience! My activity should be much better now!
Oh, how Miren hated this. Painful memories wouldn’t leave her alone; she was overwhelmed by her feelings; she had been caught in one of her vulnerable moments, and worst of all? The girl, Angel, didn’t leave. No. No matter how mean Miren was to her, she was still here. Usually, the others answered in the same, unfriendly way. That’s what she used to fuel her own walls of defense because that’s what kept everyone away. Because it was easy to stay true to that mean persona she’d accepted as herself when people returned her vile comments and matched her resentment. And yet this time it failed her. This time, someone stayed. And it made Miren feel bad.

There was another long moment of silence after Angel’s still surprisingly friendly response, during which Miren kept looking away. She was not letting any of her confusion, guilt, or shame show on her face, but she wasn't adding any more mean comments either. Instead, after what felt like hours to her, she finally spoke up again: “It’s Miren. My name. Miren Hawthorn.” She still sounded distant and didn't dare to look Angel’s way, but something had changed in the atmosphere, even if only slightly. She wasn't about to apologize; however, introducing herself was enough of an improvement for her standards. Now, Miren just waited, uncertain of everything, including Angel’s next reaction, trying to brace herself for whatever was to come.

Miren as she regarded her demeanour and overall being to be much softer, like a shield that’s been withdrawn. Was it a change of heart? It was plausible. Yet she only remained in her own space for the moment. Her tone had stayed desolate since the beginning despite that benevolence was not maintained. In hopes of the girl to be a bit more jubilant maybe she could find a solution to her predicament.

“Why are you so somber this day Miren?” she inquired calmly

“I could not help but noticed a sense of anguish in you? Did something crummy took place in your day? If so I really wish for you to be a bit more merry yes?” she asked once again, her tone was still light and cool like the winter breeze. Her composure had never faltered. If the solemn Slytherin just wanted to converse in small talk, that be all well for her.

“I’m about to head over to my dorm right about this minute, but I certainly do not mind residing here.” she mentioned

Birds chirped their little tunes as the bright light made her cover her pale painted skin. She was feeling hope. If making a person just a bit more cheerful would do.
