Emergency Weeding
It was Sunday morning in the Greenhouse, the start of the Spring season, where all the plants were waking up from their dream, spreading their beauty after the long slumber. The air became warmer, the thick coat was left and folded in the trunk. It was a calm day to enjoy the first Spring until a loud bang was heard inside the greenhouse.
A group of Bouncing Bulbs was wreaking havoc, making a couple of students ran away from the greenhouse. The reason was unknown, perhaps a mischief or a mishap. Whatever it was, the greenhouse was in a dangerous state. The Bouncing Bulbs jumped from one place to another, breaking some pots, crates, and shelves, which, unfortunately, were filled with dozens of Regeminating Potions. Some vials immediately shattered, some were even thrown to a far location. The content was spilt, triggered a growth spurt from the weeds and other unnecessary grasses that weren't supposed to be there. If any action was too late to be done, the growth of the plants was at risk.
Professor Lesmana was about to ask for some ingredients in the greenhouse. When he entered the greenhouse, the greenhouse wasn't in good condition. Inside, Professor Jurema already did first actions to fix the condition, but she couldn't do it alone. Both professors agreed that they should ask for more hands. With that, Lesmana made a quick announcement to gather some volunteers before taking out some cauldrons and ingredients from the Potions classroom to the Greenhouse.
Tables were already prepared outside the greenhouse by Asdrúbal, the gargoyle protector of the greenhouses. Cauldrons were set on each table along with the ingredients and the instructions to brew Herbicide Potions.
"This is an emergency. The Bouncing Bulbs were triggered by something unknown, making them wreak havoc inside the greenhouse. We need your help. Some can go inside to help Professor Jurema to calm and reseed the Bouncing Bulbs, and pull some weeds to temporarily prevent their growth before we can apply the potion."
"Some can stay here to help me brew some Herbicide Potions to treat the weed overgrowth. Once the potion is finished, you can join the rest in the greenhouse. Please avoid casting any Fire-Making spells inside the greenhouse since it can hurt other plants. Don't worry, you will be rewarded after we fix this crisis."
"Be always careful."
With that, the mission to save the greenhouse started.
Information
- This is the mass thread for the Emergency Weeding errand. The details and sign-ups for this errand thread can be found here.
- As usual, basic site rules still apply in this thread. Players who break the rules will be warned, and the post(s) will potentially be deleted if there's no edit after the warning.
- There are 4 tasks that can be chosen by students:
Students may choose to complete some or all of the tasks, either individually or in groups. Students must own the spells and the potions in the trunk to use them.
- Pulling the weed. (for students who don't have the potion in their trunk)
- Brewing Herbicide Potion and apply it. (make sure you have the potion in the trunk)
- Calming the Bouncing Bulb. (by spells, such as Flipendo and Immobulus or by strength, avoid using Fire-Making spells, make sure you have the spells in the trunk)
- Reseed the calmed Bouncing Bulbs so they will stay in place in the soil.

As Diana was out on a walk, her satchel around her, and her wand inside her pocket, just as Diana arrived near the greenhouses, she heard a loud crash from inside, and instantly knew that something wasn't right. In the months she's been at Hogwarts, there has never been a crash before, during, or after any of her Herbology classes, so this was new to her. But, nevertheless, typically whenever there's a crash, that means someone needs help.
Diana noticed that shortly after the crash happened, several students had left the greenhouse rather quickly, and they looked startled. Diana stepped aside to let them pass, but her instincts told her that something happened and that whoever was inside needed help. Diana then looked through the glass walls, and she saw movement. There were pots knocked over, soil scattered across the floor, and something jumping rapidly from one table to another. "Are those... Bouncing Bulbs?" Diana thinks when she sees the bouncing things, and then she answers her own question, "Yep, those definitely are Bouncing Bulbs."
Professor Lesmana, the potions professor, had made a rather quick announcement, and when he came back, Diana approached the professor and listened to him explain what had happened. As he explained, Diana glanced toward the interior of the greenhouse again. The damage was rather easy to see, even though she was standing outside the greenhouse. Broken pots were everywhere, and thin weeds had already begun creeping across patches of soil where the Regenerating Potions had spilled, or at least she thought it was that potion. Instinctively, Diana stepped inside. She knew she had to help Professor Jurema with dealing with the Bouncing Bulbs and with picking the weeds, since there was no way one person could handle all of that at once.
As soon as Diana entered the greenhouse, she was hit with the stench of damp earth and crushed leaves. It looked like Gaea — the Greek goddess of Earth — had woken up on the wrong side of the bed; like how humans are normally angry whenever they wake up on the wrong side of the bed, that's what it looks like now. A bulb bounced across the room with a hollow thump against a wooden crate, while another leapt from a nearby shelf. Diana carefully moved away from the scattered pots and knelt near the nearest weeds, where she was standing, which were along one of the planting beds. The vines had already begun tangling themselves between the proper plants, threatening to choke them if they continued growing. The sight made Diana sad, so she decided to get rid of the weeds. She began pulling out the weeds by their root and set them aside, and took out a sticky note and wrote down where the weeds had been so that the students who brew the herbicide potion can use it to allow the soil to get rid of any signs of the weeds.
As soon as she finished, Diana heard a thump from behind her and turned to see a Bouncing Bulb hopping wildly toward a stack of clay pots. These plants were starting to get on Diana's nerves, and if they hit them, the pots would clatter like the other pots, and then there'd be more shattered pots. "Oh no, you don't!" Diana said as she stood up fully and took out her wand. She knew exactly what spell to use, and she was more than ready to use it. She waved her wand to execute a precise downward curve in the air, which was followed by a swift upward motion that ended with a subtle hook, just as she had seen Professor Lécuyer teach her in Defense Against the Dark Arts. "Flipendo!" Diana exclaimed once her wand was pointing at the bulbs. A single line of blue light shot out of her wand, attacking the bulbs, knocking them backward before it could reach the pots. Once more, the bulb bounced before landing farther away, where hopefully someone would try to calm it. With an exhale, Diana put her wand away and returned to weed picking. If she needed to attack anymore bouncing bulbs, she definitely would.

Professor Jurema was casting the Immobulus Charm on the Bouncing Bulb to calm it down and placed it back into its pot, so Denisse focused on the encroaching overgrowth near the Flitterblooms. Denisse noticed that the weeds weren't just growing tall; they were spreading via "runner" roots across the stone floor.
"Make sure you pull their roots completely from the ground or they will re-grow again," Professor Jurema shouted over the whistling vines.
She gripped the weed at its very base, right where it met the soil. Denisse twisted the stalks clockwise, the opposite direction of their growth, to unlock them from the subterranean shelving. With a steady rhythmic pull, she hauled the glistening, purple-veined roots from the dirt.
She didn't just drop the weeds on the floor, since they can re-root themselves if they touch fertile soil. Instead, she dragged the heavy piles of vegetation into the Enchanted Compost Bins to neutralize the Regerminating Potion's effects.
Just as Denisse cleared a path toward the Mandrake seedlings, a stray Bouncing Bulb ricocheted off a nearby shelf. It sent a shower of broken ceramic flying.
"Watch out!" Professor Jurema shouted.
Denisse ducked, her shoulder hitting the damp earth. Denisse saw the shadow of the Bouncing Bulb expanding rapidly over the Mandrake patch. Then Professor Jurema chanted “Impedimenta!” at the bulb, and a bolt of turquoise light struck the bulb mid-air. The effect was instantaneous. It went from a lethal projectile to a slow-motion balloon, drifting through the air as if the atmosphere had suddenly turned into thick syrup.
With the Bulb now drifting lazily, Denisse stepped forward. Even slowed down, the Bouncing Bulb is heavy and covered in a slick, slimy membrane. Denisse catches the sides of the Bulb. Even under the jinx, the Bulb pulsed with a frantic, internal rhythm, trying to "bounce" against her palms. She guided it toward a nearby pot. As the jinx started to wear off, the bulb started to thrum with renewed energy, but Denisse managed to slam the lid shut and slide the brass bolt into place just as a loud thump vibrated from inside the box.
With the threat of the aerial bombardment neutralized, the path to the back of the greenhouse was clear. However, the floor was still slick with Regerminating Potion, and the weeds Denisse had pulled earlier were starting to twitch, as if the potion in the air was trying to bring them back to life. She picked up the weeds as fast as she could and disposed of them in the bin.
She decided to move to the other side of the room. She pulled the weeds away and threw them in the compost bin. After pulling a cluster, she patted down the soil to prevent the remaining potion residue from catching more seeds. By the time Professor Lesmana's first batch of volunteers arrived with the Herbicide Potions, Denisse's face was streaked with soot and green sap, but the Flitterblooms were clear.

"We need your help. Some can go inside to help Professor Jurema to calm and reseed the Bouncing Bulbs, and pull some weeds to temporarily prevent their growth before we can apply the potion."
Professor Lesmana had spoken to the students who had gathered in the moment to help with the chaos that had begun. The Bouncing Bulbs were wreaking havoc and normally that would have been a call to action. But the lonely lion was feeling deflated after a rough week of classes, following a rougher month of school, on top of the suck that was this year. There was absolutely no focus, no inspiration that he could muster as of late. The experience of a lifetime that was attending the emminent magical school in the region and all he could think about was his empty home.
It was so bad, by the time he'd managed to saunter and listen to the professor call to arms the students, Emil had realized that he'd left his wand up in the Gryffindor tower.
"Ugh, not again..."
A full self-pat down confirmed the worst of it, wandless in a situation that called for the magic he so longed to cast. Another heavy sigh, he walked slowly behind the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff students that had come before and much better equipped than he was. His head turned, looking at the prepped cauldrons and wishing he had the wherewithall to have known how to brew the potion or even had brought his wand. But in his current state, he didn't trust himself around anything that could fail.
Physical labor it would be, then.
As the Bouncing Bulbs continued their invasion of the greenhouse, the boy bent down and began picking the weeds. It was simple work in the background of the plant invasion, but there was something cathartic about clipping weeds between his pointer and index winger. Applying just the right amount of force, feeling the roots of the weed seperate in a satisfying crack from the humid soil of the greenhouse. Emil felt a little smile crack on the edge of his lips as the process continued.
Spot the weed, pinch the weed, pull the weed.
Spot the weed, pinch the weed, pull the weed.
Sometimes the weed would have an extra long root. It was the best feeling. Emil would wrap his fingers around the longer than average weed and pull, careful to balance the strength of the force so the root wouldn't break prematurely. The sound of it breaking through the soil was just...
*muah*
"And a toss to the pile... and now another pull..."
Even if he'd forgotten his wand, he wasn't totally useless after all. Although his fingers were looking a little greener than when he'd started.
Maybe gloves would have been the better call.

She...was going to help with the weeds on the inside.

It wasn't that the girl considered herself overly proficient with spells that might calm the bouncing bulbs; rather, it was a certainty that any potion she brewed might end up causing more harm than good. They'd gotten so far into the school year by now, ready to welcome the spring, but Poppy still felt confused by nearly all the ingredients. How did anyone know what they did? How did they look at a list and decide that something was better in a jar than ground into powder?
Study, most likely.
Poppy felt like all she ever did was study. Hogwarts had wasted no time in making sure she understood just how much she didn't know. She was behind her peers, the ones who'd spent their entire lives engulfed in some sort of magical environment. Her progress, by comparison, was embarrassingly slow, and she didn't feel like putting that on display by the cauldrons already set up.
The girl followed the others into the greenhouse with Professor Lesmana's words bobbing around in her head. Calming, reseeding, weeding. None of those seemed inherently difficult. Weeding was particularly easy for the girl who used to spend warm summer afternoons with her mother and sisters in the garden. By this point, it was fair to say her fingers were well-practiced in such feats, and the Gryffindor found herself taking some small pleasure in that.
It wasn't often that Poppy ran into things that she was just good at. No need for spells she didn't know yet, no history or norms she'd never heard of, just damp earth getting beneath her fingernails and a bit of determined tugging.
Poppy set herself down near a Ravenclaw she recognised from casual passes around the castle and a few shared classes, Diana. She rolled up the thin sleeves of her pullover, folding them neatly at her elbows before taking firm hold of the first weed. As best she could, Poppy tried to ignore the out-of-control plants. In theory, she knew what it would take to get them to stop their havoc, but...
She glanced down at the wand, sitting snug in its holster. She hadn't gotten used to it, even now.
Classes were one thing, and Poppy tried her best to keep up with the others with the understanding that she might fail otherwise, but...around the castle...
She didn't dare.
Christmas break still haunted her. The 12-year-old remembered the reproachful look her mother had given her when she'd answered honestly about managing with her classes. The implication spoke for itself; if she was keeping up, it meant she was performing magic, too. Poppy could also remember the derisive upward curl of her father's lip. It made her self-conscious about casting in a place where it was all anyone ever seemed to d—
"Flipendo!"
Her head snapped up in time to see Diana fire off the knockback jinx with a level of ease and skill that Poppy couldn't begin to hope for.
Did she want to be that good?
She...didn't know.
Blue-green eyes lingered on the bouncing bulb as it settled following the jinx. She thought to try replanting it, but hesitation kept her with the weeds. At least there, she couldn't accidentally get it wrong.
Poppy had never seen anything like them before and was sure they came with a whole host of things she 'should' know but didn't.
Turning, she set her hands to their busy working again, making sure to get the entire root while she pulled. This was simple. This was something she could do.
"T—That was amazing," Poppy offered quietly when the girl returned to her own weeding. "You made it—it looked so easy—not...not that I don't think you worked hard. I'm sure you did—I—nevermind."
She'd just...continue weeding.

Cassie wakes up quite early on Sunday morning. She gathers her books and rushes downstairs for breakfast. It isn't long before she wipes her mouth and heads for the library. On her way, she notices the announcement board. The ink and the writing on it suggests that it is indeed an emergency announcement. Weeds all over the greenhouse? She shrugs. Well the professors must be able to handle it.
She keeps walking to the library. But the thoughts keep fighting in her mind. She remembered the words of professor Lesmana-- sometimes it's nice to take a break from studying. After all, dealing with real problems can also be considered as a way of studying, can't it. Thinking of that, she puts her books down on a desk in the library and heads towards the Herbology greenhouse. She can see a few other students walking towards it, and she wonders if they are coming to help too.
By the time she arrives at the greenhouse, she can see how disastrous the weeds have become, no wonder the professors may need students to help. She is about to enter the greenhouse to pull the weeds, when she notices a row of cauldrons and ingredients out of the greenhouse.
The herbicide potion! She realizes what she is going to do once she recognizes the ingredients--Lionfish, Standard Ingredients, Horklump Juice and Flobberworm Mucus. It seems like Cassie is the first to start brewing potions. She reads the instructions on the table again-- she doesn't want to mess things up, and starts brewing.
She quickly adds 4 spines of lionfish into the mortar, crushes it into powder using a pestle. She always likes the sound of things crushing. So doing so is always her favourite part of making a potion. She then crushes two measures of standard ingredients. She carefully mixes the powder, and adds 3 measures of it into the cauldron. She waves her wand, and leaves it to brew for some time.
While waiting for the first potion to brew, she thinks of returning to the library for a while. But as no one else has come to brew potions, she feels a sense of duty that she ought to help some more. She checks her clock, and continues her process of mixing, crushing and waving her wand in a few other cauldrons. In this way, she can make the most potions in the least time.
Finally, she adds two measures of Horklump juice, two blobs of flobberworm mucus to each cauldron, stirs and waves her wand. Nearly two hours have passed, when Cassie finishes making the five or six doses of potions, which are then sent to the greenhouse to help the rest students.
By then, she is too exhausted to pull weeds, so she waves goodbye to the rest and returns to her seat in the library.

Olivia was bored, it was a beautiful Sunday morning. The birds were chirping, there was a light breeze swaying the trees and you could see faint ripples in the lake, the beginning of spring always brought a smile to her face. Olivia found herself wondering the grounds of Hogwarts just enjoying the morning sun alone as all her friends just wanted a lazy Sunday before lessons began again the next day.
As she approached the greenhouses something looked odd, she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion before heading over to investigate. She saw other students gathered around professor Lesmana as he had began an announcement, she had missed the beginning but understood the gist of what had occurred. Some students headed straight inside to help Professor Jurema while others went towards the tables with Professor Lesmama.
Olivia was in two minds she didn't care much for Herbiology, the thought of getting her hands dirty in mud and coming across bugs didn't appeal to her. She had seen the state of her family gardener, his clothes were always filthy. But potions was one of the subjects she enjoyed, Why not help it's not like I have anything better to do, she thought to herself.
Olivia made her way over to the tables that were situated outside the greenhouse, there were cauldrons on each table along with the ingredients and the instructions to brew Herbicide Potions. Olivia scoffed she didn't need instructions. She grabbed 4 spines of lionfish and added it into the mortar swiftly crushing it into a rough powder using the pestle, she then added 2 measurements of standard ingredient doing the same. She looked at the rough powder with a smile as she added 3 measures of it into her cauldron. She waved her wand and waited, the wait was a long one, there had to be a faster way, but she didn't know of one. I guess you can't rush potions just like cooking if you want it to be immaculate she thought.
She saw a Ravenclaw girl make more in other coludrons as she waited for hers to brew. That wasn't such a bad idea, so she decided she might as well be helpful and do the same. She made about 3 more cauldrons worth and checked the time, she still had to wait 15 more minutes. She sighed, time was moving slowly on this particular day. Olivia looked around, the grass looked comfortable in contrast to the disaster at the greenhouses. Olivia decided to enjoy the sun a little finding a nice spot and laying down.
It wasn't long after her little break that she realised the potions were ready, she jumped up and swiftly made her way back over adding 2 measures of Horklump juice and heating it to a medium temperature for 10 seconds. She then added 2 blobs of Flobberworm mucus, glad she didn't have to actually extract the mucas herself, stirring the potion 4 times clockwise and finally waved her wand completing the potion. She poured the potions into some vials appritiating her work.
She took in a deep breath, it was now time to deliver the vials to the students inside, she prayed that no one or any plants accidently got her dirty. Olivia made her way to the entrance, "Potions are ready," she announced as she applied some on the weeds nearby. The least she could do was help clear the entrance.

Sunday, 1st March 2026 Warming air, start of SpringThe Greenhouse, Hogwarts Grounds Word Count: 1,022/400, quotes+instructions excludedReducioImmediate help is needed in the Greenhouse. Anyone who has free time please gather in front of the greenhouse. Further instructions will be given upon arrival. Your cooperation and prompt response will be greatly appreciated and rewarded.
Professor Jurema & Professor LesmanaThat morning, Ellaine had planned to take a walk around the castle grounds. It was a fine day; the skies were unusually clear, which was a good omen for the oncoming spring. The thought of walking through the grasses and spotting daffodils in bloom enticed her— that was, before she'd seen the announcement posted on the Billboard. It was clearly written in haste, with blots of ink spread here and there, and she couldn't help but notice that Professor Lesmana had also signed his name underneath.
Ellaine considered herself only a passable student in Herbology. Potions, on the other hand, quite interested her-- and, well, if Professor Lesmana had also sent out this notice, potions must be involved somewhere. Ellaine hastily packed her satchel, putting inside it her wand and two manual timers (just in case they actually were going to brew something) and stepped outside the Cellar."Some can stay here to help me brew some Herbicide Potions to treat the weed overgrowth. Once the potion is finished, you can join the rest in the greenhouse. Please avoid casting any Fire-Making spells inside the greenhouse since it can hurt other plants. Don't worry, you will be rewarded after we fix this crisis."Ellaine soon found herself standing in front of a table, amongst many others, set aside in a neat file in front of the Greenhouse. In front of her were the ingredients laid out, the cauldron, and the stirrer, and of course; the instructions. Her hands poked at the cauldron whilst she skimmed the recipe.
ReducioThe spines of lionfish were something to look at. An off-white colour, which— having seen pictures of lionfish before, had confused Ellaine when they'd first learnt about the Herbicide Potion just a few lessons ago. Those long, venomous spines on top of the lionfish she'd seen in documentaries were certainly not this kind of white. It would make more sense for this to be the literal spines or backbones of the lionfish-- Ellaine wrinkled her nose just thinking about it. Carefully, she dropped four of them in the mortar. To grind them into a rough powder, then, is the next step, which Ellaine did with the ferocity of a week's worth of pent-up grudges.Ingredients: 4 Spines of Lionfish, 2 Measures of Standard Ingredient, 2 Measures of Horklump Juice, 2 “Blobs” of Flobberworm Mucus
Part 1
Add 4 spines of lionfish to the mortar
Crush into a rough powder using the pestle
Add 2 measurements of Standard Ingredient to the mortar
Crush into a rough powder
Add 3 measures of the crushed mixture to your cauldron
Wave your wand
Leave to brew and return in 45/51/60 minutes (depending on your cauldron)
Part 2
Add 2 measures of Horklump juice to your cauldron
Heat to a medium temperature for 10 seconds
Add 2 blobs of Flobberworm mucus to your cauldron while it's still on the heat
Stir 4 times, clockwise
Wave your wand to complete the potion
The next were the 2 measurements of Standard Ingredient, ground with a pestle, together with the powdered spines of lionfish. As Professor Lesmana (and her grandfather!) had said, the Standard Ingredient was a mixture of dried herbs and flowers, to improve the magical conductivity of a potion. Ellaine entertained the hypothetical outcome of what would happen if they weren't added into the potion. Would the Herbicide Potion lose potency? Would it react badly with other ingredients, causing a corrosive sludge? Or would it end up exploding in her face? Either way, it would only end up with the non-existence of a Herbicide, so instead Ellaine followed the instructions dutifully.
Reaching into her satchel, Ellaine pulled out her wand as well as a pocket timer that fit snugly into the palm of her hand. She waved her wand over the potion, standing impassively as a white light hit the surface(taken from Harry Potter Wiki, which was also unsure of the spell used in potion-making, so). She then switched her focus to the timer and set it to 60 minutes(I am using 60 minutes, since the brewing is presumably done with the standard size 2 pewter cauldron, which coincidentally brews at a very slow speed...). And now— Ellaine stood in place, before finally daring a glance towards the other students who were also brewing potions. Her eyes lingered on a Ravenclaw upper-year who was...brewing multiple batches at once.
Crazy, thought Ellaine half-heartedly, mingled with not a small amount of admiration, who'd want to risk mistakes with that many cauldrons on the go? In spite of that, her eyes darted towards the timer ticking down slowly...
***
Precisely 15 minutes after she'd first waved her wand, Ellaine found herself waving it again over the cauldron on the table adjacent to hers. This was her second batch, and her final batch. Around four minutes before, she'd given in and prepared the ingredients. The fifteen-minute wait period was perfectly intentional. That way, when she had to finish the second phase of the first batch of Herbicide Potion, it wouldn't interfere with the second batch.
Ellaine spent the next (almost) three quarters of an hour sitting on the ground, leaning against one of the table legs as she flipped through the pages of her newest novel. Timekeeper, Mitch Albom. Her eyes darted from sentence to sentence, mind conceptualising the storyline, yet never quite picturing it. (Really, she never did understand how people could just— think in pictures.)
Of course, she periodically stood up and checked on the cauldrons, but everything seemed fine and dandy. She wished she could say the same for the Greenhouse— and, well, while Ellaine did know flipendo, she was rather pessimistic of her own capability to fight against plants. She had managed to get a quarter through the book before the first timer ran out. Ellaine had already been standing at the time, preparing the Horklump Juice that was to be added into the cauldron. 2 measurements of the red liquid out of the container, and into the cauldron as the timer struck zero.
Ellaine carefully (almost obsessively) set the fire burning at a medium temperature. This she did manually, as Ellaine didn't trust her rudimentary skills at magical fire-making. Incendio could do the trick, but what if it exploded instead? Hastily, Ellaine moved to get the 2 blobs of the Flobberworm mucus she had half-prepared earlier on. 10 seconds, 10 seconds... and in went the mucus into the still-hot potion cauldron. (I am assuming that we are to stir the potion, turn off the heat, then wave the wand.) With the stirrer in hand, Ellaine stirred the potion four times clockwise, before finally moving to turn off the fire. Her wand was already on the table, and it was quick work to wave it over again.
20 minutes later, with two batches of the Herbicide Potion on hand, Ellaine hastened towards the Herbology Greenhouse's entrance. Applying these shouldn't be too hard, right? She just had to kill weeds. Kill things. Yes, that much was possible for her.
***
Half an hour later, Ellaine left the Greenhouse, feeling disgruntled, and sweaty, yet with a faint warmth blossoming in her heart. It did feel nice to be able to do something of her own making. Still, she much preferred potions-brewing to ... plant wrangling. She ignored how during her entire excursion, she only had the misfortune to encounter a grand total of 1 (one!) Bouncing Bulb. She had flipendo-ed it away. Ellaine really, really, really didn't want to be encountering any more Bouncing Bulbs outside of classes anytime soon.

Even as she returned to the wedding, the greenhouse still seemed to be chaotic. More students had come to help, though. Some were helping with the wedding and the other things inside the greenhouse, while others were brewing the potions, which were possibly ready to be made. Diana noticed that the Bouncing Bulb she had attacked was resettling into the soil, since there was soil on the ground. But then she noticed that there were more broken pots, and more weeds. And probably, the greenhouse was getting messier than it already was. Seeing this chaos made Diana immediately go back to pulling out weeds, but this time she pulled out the entire root, just like Poppy was doing beside her. Diana noticed that Poppy was working beside her because the way the Gryffindor's hands were moving in a quiet confidence was pretty noticeable by the young seer.
However, when she spoke, Diana was slightly surprised, and she glanced over, still holding the weed. A slight blush crept onto her cheeks since no one had ever really complimented her on casting a spell before. So she felt a small surge of happiness, as if an ego she never thought she had was growing. “Oh,” she said softly. Her eyes drifted briefly toward the bouncing bulb she had just jinxed, now sitting much more calmly in the soil where it belonged. “It’s not really that amazing,” Diana replied after a moment, her voice gentle. “We practiced the spell in class a few times.” She hesitated, then added honestly, “I was actually worried I might miss.” In her own words, her ego seemed to deflate. Diana was never a fan of people with huge egos, so she always refused to think that she herself has an ego.
After her ego deflated, Diana returned to work, disposing of any of the weeds she pulled out before going back to repeating the same thing: pull out weed, dispose, pull out weed, dispose... However, as she was doing this, Diana kept a lookout for any Bouncing Bulbs coming their way. She was more than ready to use the spell again. As she was keeping a lookout, Diana noticed how easily Poppy seemed to remove the weeds compared to most of the other students nearby. “You’re really good at that,” Diana said quietly, nodding toward the small pile of weeds Poppy had already gathered. “Getting the roots out like that.” Poppy was definitely better at Diana when it came to pulling out weeds. She then studied the ground looking for more weeds to pull out. “I think that part is harder than the spell,” she admitted. Diana heard a bouncing bulb bouncing somewhere behind them, off in the distance, but she didn't pull out her wand; she just continued to pull out weeds. “Um… if another one jumps near us,” she added softly, “I can try the spell again if you want.”

XXXXX𝓐 pleasant breeze greeted Mylo as he stepped out of the castle and onto the grounds, welcoming him into the first few days of spring. The sun warmed the air enough that they had opted to leave their jacket behind in their dorm, instead having decided that a slightly thicker jumper would be enough to stave off the few chills they might've felt had Mylo worn something thinner.
However Mylo hadn't stepped out onto familiar grounds just to admire the way the light bounced off the early morning grass, or to enjoy the sense of peace the trees always brought him, as apparently the greenhouses were in danger.
While he had been making their way over to the study room to try and get some of their homework sorted and prepare for the coming week a notice on the announcement board had caught their eye. The seemingly hastily written note had been hung up to ask for help in 'saving' the greenhouses, as some bouncing bulbs had been released and were wreaking havoc on the place Mylo usually saw as a place for some peace and quiet.
Seeing as the note was a desperate call for action, and Mylo really didn't have that much homework to do that was of more importance than helping make sure one of their safe spaces wasn't completely demolished, the decision to turn around and head for the aforementioned area was an easy one.
As he arrived at the scene of the crime the first thing Mylo noticed amidst the chaos were the tables lined up outside of the building, cauldrons and ingredients set on top of them. Seeing the cauldrons brought back some nasty memories that Mylo would rather not have to deal with at that point in time so actively avoiding the offending items they made their way into the danger zone, having heard that they could also help by calming and reseeding the bulbs themselves.
As Mylo entered the greenhouse they immediately understood why help was needed, it was absolute chaos with the little bulbs bouncing everywhere and broken pots, glass and other objects littered the ground. Immediately taking out his wand Mylo levelled it at the first bulb that entered their line of sight, casting Immobulus at it to help calm it down, repeating the same action as more and more made themselves known.
Once he had calmed down a decent amount of them Mylo moved over, trying to avoid any of the ones still overly active and any of the sharp objects littering the floor, picking them up and reseeding them into the soil. As this seemed to have the desired effect and the bulbs didn't spring back out to get their revenge Mylo continued to repeat this process, hoping that it wouldn't take too much longer for the problem to be solved.
